Pokémon Academy: Ch 2a: Dragons [IC]

[Zephyrus the Priestess]

The candle Pokemon pouted at Slade. That and he wasn't even trying to hide at all. Inquisitively he looked at the Growlithe at the boy's feet, before floating over to the pretty-eyed boy with the Ralts whom he'd met previously, with a jovial "Wick, wick!" as a form of greeting. Finally, he zoomed around this new person, who, from Slade's words, was a member of their group. This one, he hadn't met before. He seemed timid, his soul even seemed to retreat from the world. What did this one's taste like?

"Glad to meet you too, Miss, and Sissy, pon," Raiza said politely, raising a hand in greeting, only moving to the bunk beds when Lana felt like going to one. "Y'know, I have a ghost-type with me too. His name is Lucifer, pon, but he floated off on his own again... on the other hand--" a Sneasel popped out from her Pokeball-- "this is Rogue."

The aloof-looking Sneasel darted about to get closer looks at the new faces. Here was a timid-looking girl whom Raiza seemed to know a while already, the girl from when they met the Dragonite, and a girl with a Misdreavus. "Rogue, pon, these are Lana, Danielle, and Sissy. The Misdreavus' name is Miss, and the Murkrow up there is Avis," her Trainer said. To her delight, there was another Dark-type in the room. Climbing up the bunk bed with effortless dexterity, she greeted the Murkrow roosting on the rail.

[TurboAura]

Leaving the 'Claude's Paradise' joke alone to avoid having it spread, he shifted his focus to Ryan who acted regretfully to what he said. Before Robert could give some, 'Settling' words, Ryan seemed to, atleast from what Robert could tell, recalm himself and mentioned 'getting some chill', allowing Robert to know what he had in mind the second Ryan reached for the Pokeball. "Sounds good Ryan, something like that would be 'cool' with me." With a bad pun aside to bring up the mood, Robert readied for what he knew was going to happen, being used to even direct Icey gusts from helping out with Tal, making the likely snow no problem for him.

[DarkLight]

"Why, hello there Rogue~" Danielle greeted the Sneasel, who immediately went up the bunk bed to join Avis. "I would let my Larvesta come out and meet you but, as some of the people probably saw on my bus, she kind of tired herself out by flying." As if to emphasize her point, Danielle enlarged Corona's Pokeball in her palm, but her Larvesta didn't pop out to greet them. "I'm sure she will come out when dinner is ready though; I'll introduce her to everyone then~" she put back Corona's capsule back onto her belt before continuing. "Raiza, do you want to see where Lucifer went off to, considering that we aren't familiar with this place..."

Avis' dark aura evaporated into thin air as Rogue greeted her on the bed post. With her attention now focused on something other than Evan, Avis' irritation began the simmer. Avis responded to the Sneasel's greeting with a cry of her own. The bird inched forward to Rogue and initiated a little chat with the fellow Dark type, examining Rogue from head to toe all the while.

[Felicity]

"Robert dear, that was terrible, it sent a shiver down my spine. Let me just recall my Doux, he naturally doesn't like cold." Claude joked, hoping to brush aside the momentary awkwardness as he called Doux back into his pokeball. In the meantime, Lance, who had no issue with the cold jumped around on the floor, excited and curious.

[Zephyrus the Priestess]

"He'll turn up eventually, so it's fine, pon. Lucifer does this sort of thing often enough," Raiza said dismissively. "Larvesta can fly by propelling themselves like little rockets, right? I would've liked to see that... unfortunately I was on the first bus, pon." The Trainer looked at the Pokeball containing the pseudo-legendary flaming bug in wonder.

The Sneasel likewise spoke to the Murkrow, though she was more content with listening, being friendly but cool at the same time.

[Tacos]

"Sorry for being so cold-hearted, but those puns were beyond awful." Ryan chuckled while grabbing his pokeball and releasing Glacien into the room. "Ok Glacien, Winter Wonderland." Glacien, familiar with the command, whirled up a miniature snowstorm inside the room. The snow fell swiftly, and in no time, the floor was covered in about 3 inches of snow. "Hope you guys like it." Ryan winked, specifically towards Evan.

[DarkLight]

Danielle nodded. If Raiza is fine with her Litwick floating about by himself, then who is she to judge? "I'm sure Corona - that's her name - wouldn't mind flying around for you tonight, once she gets comfortable around us. Be warned though: She's quite shy, so she might fall down once someone complements her." Danielle offered to her curious new friend.

Avis, still on the bed post with Rogue, suddenly called out to Miss. Avis figured that they all might as well get comfortable with one another if they were to live together for 3 days. The Murkrow waved a wing to the ghost type, hoping Miss would accept the invite.

[Felicity]

Lance was now fairly stuck in the mass of snow Glacien had made, and both he and Claude were alarmed. "Woah, is this ok? I mean, i fell bad for the poor sods who have to clean it up... That could perhaps be us."

[Chevaleresse]

Kage shrugged. "We should probably get to our rooms, though. Couldn't hurt to get to know one another, though, so why don't we head to the same room?"

[Aurorix]

"My thoughts exactly," Slade said as he nodded to Kage's suggestion. "Just to forewarn you, I stay up late listening to music so if you hear any music it's probably from me." Slade said chuckling

[Chevaleresse]

Kage grinned. "Are you sure you can keep up with my music?"

[Aurorix]

"Is that I challenge?" Slade said with a smug tone and with a smirk on his face.

[Chevaleresse]

"Depends. I think my headphones are more expensive than yours, but what's the competition, exactly? Didn't think that part through." Kage tilted his head slightly, thinking.

[Aurorix]

"Hmmmm, true true," He thought for a minuet, "Hey, what type of head phones do you have, maybe by off chance we would have the same type." Slade said thinking the best case scenario.

[Chevaleresse]

"They're Sennheisers. They're pretty awesome. Audio quality is through the roof, and they're pretty comfortable too."

[Aurorix]

"Really now," Slade said impressed in his choice of headphones, "turns out I have the same brand of headphones. I guess great minds think alike." Slade said patting the man on the back.

[Chim]

Tacos, TurboAura and Lucky Elf

Evan’s Cleffa popped out of her Pokéball and jumped into the snow. She made a little snow angel while her trainer finished packing. “If you guys want to make a snowman I suggest you wait until after we get back. We only have 5 minutes left before we’re gathering outside.” He stepped into the snow to grab Cleffa and put her on his shoulder. The little fairy admired her work and made happy sounds.

Zephyr, DarkLight and Tses

Lana chose a bottom bed and followed the conversation the other three girls had. She suddenly made a squeaky sound. “Oh no, we only got 5 more minutes!” she grabbed her things in a hurry and left the room. She didn’t want to keep Professor Cadmus waiting.

[K_H]

Kenny opened the Door to a room, only to be hit by a blast of Cold Air. He then spoke to Robert, Evan, and Ryan, who were also in the Room.

"Brr... who put the AC on Overdrive?!"

Kenny then put his Stuff on the remaining Bunk and headed back outside to warm up again.

'Okay, so that pun was as bad as I thought. Eh, it happens.' That was all that came to mind as Ryan had Glacien create the snow. After watching Evan's Cleffa have it's own, fun in the snow, Robert's mind clicked to what Evan said. "Wait, only five minutes? Well we better get going soon then."

[Zephyrus the Priestess]

Lucifer chose that time to drift in through the door, staring funnily at Lana as she ran out. "Hey, there you are," Raiza said as she hopped about on one foot while she changed into more comfortable shoes. Rogue was still up on the bed, conversing, it seemed, to a Murkrow. "So this is Lucifer, pon. My lil' baby whom I hatched from an Egg. That's how I know Lana-- my parents are Breeders too, of the Ghost-type, pon. Yeah, I lived in a haunted house," she said, rolling her eyes with a grin. "Lana and I were neighbors back in Valley City, here, pon. They crossed a Chandelure from my place with a Gastrodon from theirs, and I got an Egg for my birthday." All the while, Raiza was getting her smaller bag ready, tossing things like healing items, Berries, some biscuits and crackers, a little First Aid Kit, some empty Pokeballs, and a canteen filled with water inside.

[Bfroger6]

"Wha-" Shiro felt a tingling sensation as the Litwick passed him by. 'So that's one Raiza's Pokemon?'

"We should probably get to our rooms, though. Couldn't hurt to get to know one another, though, so why don't we head to the same room?"

"You think?" Shiro turned towards Kage when he heard him speak. Did he manage to find rommates for himself so easily? "We could go no-" The two boys suddenly began a discussion about headphones, a topic he knew nothing about, discouraging him from trying to draw attention to himself again.

[Tses]

The Misdreavus saw the Murkrow waving her wing to her, but instead of going where both pokemon where, she headed back into SIssy's her. Too many people and pokemon came in, making her a little more shy. "There it goes again. I hope she will not be so shy later on." Sissy sighed looking on the Murkrow.

"I'm gonna head out too girls." Sissy said while opened the door of the room and started walking outside of the cottage. Her bag was already good enough for the trip, containing some pokeballs, berries and food for both her and her pokemon.

[DarkLight]

'I guess my bed is the one Avis is occupying now; that's fine with me~' Danielle put on her backpack as Sissy and Lana head out to meet the professors. "Wow, that's really cool! You and Lana must have know a lot about those types of Pokemon then!" she commented on Raiza's history with Lucifer. "I guess we'll get going too. We don't wanna keep the good Professors waiting now, do we? I'll see you when we get back!"

Avis gave another wave, only this time it was for Rogue, before flying off to Danielle's shoulder. As soon as Avis was settled in, Danielle headed outside.

[Zephyrus the Priestess]

"Nah, I'm good too. C'mon guys-- don't want to get left behind, now, do we, pon?" And with that, she recalled Rogue and Lucifer into their respective Pokeballs, grabbed her gear and followed the girls out in a jiffy.

[Chim]

Group 1 (Bforger, Murdoc, Zephyr, EXLink)

Under Devin’s guidance the students walked for ten minutes over the dusty road in north-eastern direction before reaching a fork. One of them was small and led upwards into the mountains. Devin stopped for a minute. “We’re going up. Soon we’re going to reach a rocky area and the first Pokémon we will encounter will be Tyrantrum. Students that are thinking about catching one should let me know when we arrive.”

After a short climb they reached something that looked like another plateau, but this time there were a lot of pine-trees around. Little Tyrantrum were wrestling with each other and at least 3 big Tyrantrum kept an eye out. There was potentially a fourth but at this point of view it wasn’t clear. All they could see from the fourth was the tip of the tail.

Devin motioned for the students to stop. “The Tyrantrum live not far from here, but we won’t go into their nests. They are a very proud species and as long as you show them respect they won’t hurt you. Treat them as the kings and queens they once were and you see they might even let you play with the small ones or catch one. If you go for the last option wait until a Tyrunt challenges you!”

Devin walked over towards the Tyrantrum's without adverting his gaze. Some small Tyrunt's looked at him with interest and came closer, but Devin only bowed to the parents. Suddenly the trees started shaking and the biggest Tyrantrum of them all came out of the pine-trees. Apparently the tip of tail that was visible earlier belonged to him. He tilted his head and watched Devin for a while before giving a snort. Devin bowed again and pointed towards the students. Tyrantrum looked at them with interest before repeating the same action. After he snorted one last time he went back into the tree line and Devin signaled that the students could come closer.

"Be careful! I just earned the Alpha's trust and he allows us to be here. Things can turn out very ugly in the blink of an eye if you don't respect them."

Group 2 (Commander and DarkLight)

Tyron and Alastair went back the way the students came earlier before leaving the path to the east. “We have to talk a small walk through the forest so stay close.” It wasn’t too hard to keep up. There was enough space in between the trees and if they followed Alastair’s lead they walked onto a path created by wild Pokémon.

Soon enough they reached a rocky formation with small caves. There were about 10-15 of them. “As you all can see,” Alastair started, “this is where our lesson starts. These are Druddigon caves. If you look closely you can see the rough edges. Druddigon make their caves with their own claws. Also notice how the caves are lined up? There are two layers and none of the caves are connected or directly above and under each other. They do that in order to keep the layers as strong as possible. If they would dig at the same places things might collapse.” He waved his hand in a following motion. “Directly behind these caves is the sandy area. At this time of day they should be around there playing with the other dragon species.”

The further the students went towards the Druddigon’s den’s, the hotter the air became. They avoid direct contact and stayed on a respectable distance in order not to bother a possible sleeping dragon. Alastair walked in front along the tree line. “Take a look,” he said with a smile.

Little Druddigon were playing around with Pokémon from the Flygon and Garchomp lines. “Be careful around the big ones and don’t startle them. For now keep your distance and wait until they make the first move.”

A girl with red hair came from behind Danielle and bumped hard against her shoulder. The redhead completely ignored the coordinator and blocked her view.

Group 3 (TurboAura, Tses, Tacos)

Phoebe and Roman were talking in front of the group. Both of them had very outgoing personalities and the atmosphere around the group felt light because of it. They walked directly to the west from camp through the forest. They followed natural paths created by Pokémon and used by the local rangers. The further they went the more small paths seemed to come together in the midst of trees and bushes before taking a turn north-west. The Flygon, with Ryan on its back, was flying directly above their heads. If he looked down he could see a girl looking up all the time in his direction, only looking back to the path in front of her to keep her balance. Unfortunately for him he couldn’t get a decent look at her because of all the trees and branches in the way.

The further they followed the path to the north-west, the wetter the ground appeared to be. Without realizing it the students had already entered the swampy area. Roman raised his hand to signal for everyone to stop. “Some of you may have already noticed the ground is getting wetter by the minute. The plants around us absorb most of it, but just ahead there’s a lake and everything will get swampy. Be careful where you step and keep an eye out on the dragons. Kingdra, Dragonite, Dragalge and Goodra all live together here. Don’t anger a Dragonite and be careful of Dragelge’s poison and we’ll be fine.

Group 4 (K_H, Surge, Jory, Azery, Lucky Elf)

The last group went directly south from the camp, the same way they arrived, before splitting up from group two. Instead of going to the east they took one of the smaller paths to the west. Apparently it was used often by hikers and local rangers as the footsteps of the last people were still visible. They didn’t have to walk very far before Brendan and Rebecca stopped and waited for everyone to gather around them.

Brendan started to prepare some camera’s while Rebecca explained. “As Professor Cadmus already told you, all of you are free to explore. Don’t go too far from this open spot where Brendan and I will be the entire time. If anyone has a question you can always find us here. Now, a little further ahead, you can see a rock formation in front of you, are 5 caves. They are all connected and not very deep so getting lost is almost impossible. It’s filled with Noibat, Noivern and other wild Pokémon. The rocks aren’t attached to the actual Boulder Hills and we checked them last week so they should be safe. Also if you look around you in the trees you can see Altaria nests. This is their breeding place and where they live. You can usually lure them down if you hold a treat.”

She looked at Brendan who nodded to her. “Professor Cadmus said you all receive an assignment based on creativity. Those who wish to make a picture can get a camera. You are also free to catch Pokémon and have a few hours to do so. When you hear a whistle come back to this place because that means we’re going back to camp where you will meet up with the next Professor. If everything is clear come get your camera or start exploring!”

Both assistants felt a bit proud about their speech. It was the first time they went on this trip and neither of them had experience with large crowds, especially if they were made out of wild and impatient students.
