Pokémon Academy: Ch 2a: Dragons [IC]

[Tacos]

Ryan picked up his pace, the situation making him forget the pain of his limp. His face strained from all the effort he had put into moving. Victoria stood on his head yelling words, or more so incessant, untranslatable mixes of roars and screams. He almost collapsed on the ground when he had made it back to Kage, but Tyron and Alastair were already off doing something. Ryan poked Kage to get his attention. "Hey, um, where did everyone go?"

[Jory]

Jacob sighed in relief as he saw Kristen enter the camp. I'm glad she's safe. But Evan Reeves... Isn't that the guy who's kind of a jerk to everyone? he wondered. He then shook his head. I barely know him. I shouldn't be making assumptions like that, he thought to himself. As he began to hear about the formation of a search party, he couldn't help but feel as though he should be a part of it. After all, if he were the one separated from the group he would want as many people as possible looking for him. Thus, he quickly ran over to Tyron after a hurried "Excuse me" to Alastair.

Once he reached the professor, he spoke quickly and without preamble. "Professor, I know that I'm not the most experienced Trainer yet but I want to help look for Evan. He's all of our classmate and I know that if I were in his situation I would want as much help as I could get." Arete nodded in affirmation.

"Pi! Toge-pi!" she cried out, determined to help her Trainer win over the professor.

[Commander]

So there is something fishy about this. It's clear now people have been watching Evan, and likely others in the academy. There has to be something I can do to figure out who is responsible for this. Wait...that might work. Henry's eyes lit up when he came up with the idea.

"Professor Cadmus, sir," Henry began. "You may not of realized it, but I have a gift for technology. I might be able to figure out what kind of 'hunters' we're dealing with if I take a look at the tracking device you mentioned. I know I'm in no condition to look for it, but could you send someone else instead to bring it to me."

[Felicity]

After the chaos settled, Claude recalled Doux and hugged him tight, making sure tthe pokemon was ok. He then went over to Tyron after hearing of Evan gong missing. "Sir, can I join the search? I might be able to help, Doux here can fly, and light up dark areas, in his own way. I think I might be able to help." And that's just what he wanted to do.

[DarkLight]

A pang of doom settled on Danielle as Devin's hesitant answer might confirm her theory. 'Professor Cadmus' answer made this even more suspicious. He didn't even seemed convinced of his explanation, himself...' "Avis?" she looked up at the bird that has been staring down at her. "Did you hear the Donphan's or Phanpy's cries before they were on top of us?"

Avis titled her head, searching through her memories of the fiasco. Sure, she appeared asleep, but she isn't a deep sleeper and would wake up if she heard screams of terror. Murkrows have never been deep sleepers due to a leftover trait from their lineage*. After a brief moment, she shook her head. She was about to tell her master something else when Henry's statement caught her attention. Avis looked at Professor Cadmus and Danielle expectantly; if there is anyone here who is capable of finding stuff quickly, it would be a bird, especially a curious bird like herself.

Now that Avis also confirmed her suspicions, Danielle knew she had to speak up, no matter how stupid she would sound. "Umm... Avis wouldn't mind searching for it, as long as she knows what the GPS looks like. She has a knack for these kinds of things. And..." she paused as she was trying to find the right words. "It's a weird theory, but I really don't think it's a hunter's doing... Professor, you said that Donphans are peaceful Pokemon, right? If the hunters are attacking them, they, or at least the Phanpy, would run away crying for help. However, none of us, including our Pokemon heard anything like that. Also... There's something strange about the Donphan. While I was dodging them, I noticed that they didn't look scared at all. In fact, they look like they wanted to charge at us. I-It's really strange, I know, but I recognized that look anywhere because my Pokemon have it when I command them to do something... Maybe I'm just imagining things, but something tells me that it's not that easy..." She looked to Henry to see if he has anything to add.

((*Since Murkrows could have Insomnia, I figured a part of it is in Avis' blood, although her ability ultimately became Prankster, so she could sleep.))

[Chim]

DarkLight and Commander

“It’s a normal transmitter Alastair planted on a Phanpy. I don’t know what you hope to achieve by getting that, but if Avis wants to go and find it I won’t stop you.” Devin pointed the general direction of where the Donphan herd was earlier that day. “They were hanging around an open space with a little creek next to it. The transmitter is small, silver and a little red light indicates it’s on.” He gave a big sigh and turned to Danielle. “I agree that this doesn’t seem like something a Hunter would do. However the Donphan would never want to charge at someone. Whoever did this must’ve found a way to scare them enough that they feared about the safety of their herd. That’s the only reason they would charge like that without caring about anyone in their way.”

At the camp

Tyron raised an eyebrow at Slades remark about Team Rocket but didn’t say anything about it. Phoebe would be able to handle whatever was going on. He had to come up with a plan without her and nodded in appreciation to Jacob and Claude. “Alright, this is what we’re going to do,” he said loud enough for everyone to hear. “You, Ryan, go and find the medical supplies in the teacher’s cottage. After that take Devin’s Flygon and Haxorus and find group two. Take some friends with you.”

He then turned his attention to the rest of the students gathered around him. “I need a few volunteers to go with me or Alastair to find Evan Reeves. People that know who he is are first choice. I will take three students with me and the same for Alastair.”

“I’ll stay here to keep an eye on the remaining students and the Donphan,” Roman said. “Phoebe’s Pokémon can assist me. Good luck finding the student.”

Tyron and Alastair both nodded. They walked over to the edge of the camp and studied the map. Alastair wrote something on it and Tyron nodded while waiting for the students that volunteered to join them.

"Understood, sir." Danielle replied politely. There isn't any time for her to argue about her point since, like the ones around her, she doesn't know the full story yet. The thought of someone threatening the innocent ground type, however, is really unsettling. 'Just like how an elder threatened Avis... I have to get that tracker then. Hopefully Henry could figure out something.' With that, she craned her neck towards her bird. "You heard, right? Small, silver, red light down that way by water. Just be careful, as always."

Avis landed onto her shoulder and gave a quick, light peck on Danielle's ear before she crowed at her two teammates. Zared and Corona listened to Avis' brief words before Avis took off into the direction that specified by Devin. Corona propelled herself onto the wall to take Avis' place while Zared remained in place with his chin resting on his hand, lost in thought about what the humans just said.

The small, black bird was easily able to spot the creek from above the clouds; now this is where the fun part of the search begins. Angling her wing and tail feathers, Avis dived straight towards the water, only pulling herself back up right when she was about to crash. She laughed at her successful technique before her mind went back to her mission. Not surprisingly, the area was empty since the herd ran amok. This could give the bird an easy time for her to spot a tracker or two. Noting the position of the sun, Avis gave a few flap of her wings to gain some altitude and hovered by the sun's light. Since a tracker is a gray color, the sun's rays should cast a glare. If not, Avis could always fall back on the red light. If that also failed... Avis was pretty sure her eyes could pinpoint one anyways. Nothing escapes her eyes, after all.

[Jory]

Jacob followed Alastair and, finally catching up to him at the edge of the camp, pumped his fist in determination while holding Arete in his other arm. "Alastair, let me come with you! I caught Spitfyre here! He knows his way around pretty well, and my team and I can take on any challenge that's thrown at us. Please, let us help," he nearly begged, wanting more than anything to be useful in this time of crisis. "I can't sit idly by while one of my classmates is in danger. I know what he looks like, so I can help on that front too," he added.

[Commander]

Henry shook his head for a moment. "I guess we're on the same page so there's no point in hiding it. You said that the tracker was on a Phanpy, correct? Just getting to that tracker would be a challenge because the group travels in the herd. Depending on the damage on the tracker, it'll give a general idea what kind of person did this. If it was tampered with, the group may have left a couple of fingerprints on it."

Honestly, I'm not expecting to find anything. I just need slight evidence someone caused this. These Donphan were likely no more than a distraction so there's a chance they got careless. It's about time we see how good these shadows really are. Henry remained silent watching the bird fly off. He wasn't going to say his true thoughts because the less these two knew, the better.

[Tacos]

Ryan was shocked that of all the people that could have been put in charge of that search group, he was the one Tyron trusted. He sunk down a little bit until Tyron and Alastair had left. He poked Raiza and Kage both to get their attention. He whispered softly to them, "Hey, while I go grab some of the medicine, can you rally up some people for our group? I want you two to help me, but I'll want others too. Mind doing that for me?" Ryan didn't wait for an answer before he hustled over to the teacher's cottage. The door was a lot less stiff than the student's cottages. In fact, one quick push and it flew open. How convenient.

Ryan stepped inside and was amazed to see how complex it was. Huge beds for the teachers were all divided into many different rooms, more than Ryan had time to count. He stumbled over a beautiful wooden chair as he made his way to a large, red, First-Aid kit on the bathroom wall. He tried opening it, but it was stuck. After incessantly pulling on it, the latch swung open and bottles and tubes of cream came pouring out like a solid, medicinal waterfall. He stumbled to pick all of them up, before realizing over on the table that there was a decently sized tote bag. This place just reeks of convenience. Ryan grabbed the bag and began shoving bottles and tubes and sheets and bandages and colored pills into the bag, in no specific pattern. Speed is a necessity here, not organization. Ryan got up and pushed open the door, making his way back to Kage and Raiza.

[Zephyrus the Priestess]

"Um." Before anybody had time to react, Ryan pushed off to grab some medicines. "... Ryan sure is a real go-getter, isn't he, pon? Anyway, come on, we've got to pull our own weights... and I think I know just how to get everyone's attention!" Pulling out Toothless and Achlyx's Pokeballs, she looked back at Kage and Lana. "You uh... you guys might want to cover your ears and brace for shrill noises, though."

Five seconds later, a cacophony of shrill squeals and screams blared from a Deino and a Skorupi.

"Thank you, you two," Raiza said sweetly, giving them both Pokeblocks. Toothless munched down immediately, while Achlyx prodded it first before tentatively tasting it... then devouring it messily as well. "Now that I've got everyone's attention, who wants to help us look for the second group?"

[Aurorix]

"Now that I've got everyone's attention, who wants to help us look for the second group?"

"Wait, the second group..." Slade mumbled to himself, "Wasn't Danielle in group 2, and they haven't returned yet." Then suddenly he began to worry. 'What happened out there?' he thought to himself, 'Is she ok? I guess the only way to find out is by going with them.' Slade thought while unknowing nodding. He then turned towards the Professors and Raiza, "May I volunteer for a search group? There's someone in group two who I'm worried about and I want to give those Team Rocket members a piece of my mind." Slade said with a fire in his eye. Sasuke was laying in a tree branch close to where Slade was and began humming a strange toon. Though it was too soft for anyone to hear unless they were right under him.

[Zephyrus the Priestess]

"The more, the merrier. Glad to have you on board, pon," Raiza said. "Anybody else?"

[Chim]

At the camp

“I think I’m going with Professor Silva and Alastair,” Lana told Kage and Raiza. “I know Evan a little bit so I might be able to help. His Eevee also befriended Rhy so he can recognize it.” She called Rhy and walked over to Tyron. She arrived right behind Slade and added to his request. “I want to volunteer too,” she said determined, “I know Evan and Rhy here can recognize his Eevee.”

Tyron nodded to the two students in front of him. “You can come with us,” he said to Lana. “As for you; go with Ryan. I entrusted him with finding group two since he knows Devin’s Flygon best. Go tell him that you and those other two are enough. Flygon and Haxorus will lead you to the group and protect you if necessary.”

He then turned his attention to Alastair who was talking to Jacob. He could hear the breeder thank the students for his volunteering. “Do you have enough medical supplies in your back, Alastair?”

“Yes, and I currently have one volunteer. What about you?”

“Same. The students are still spreading the word amongst themselves so I hope there are a few others around that know Evan Reeves,” Tyron replied. Out the corner of his eye he saw Ryan’s group leave.

Tacos, Zephyr, Murdoc and ExLink

The group followed the Haxorus while Flygon kept an eye out from above. There weren’t any signs of trouble and 20 minutes later they arrived at the place group two was waiting. Most students were sitting at the side of the road, talking. Devin, who was still with Danielle and Henry, was at the very end.

[Zephyrus the Priestess]

"Hey, hey! Are you all okay, over there?" Raiza called out, as soon as group two came into view. Light flashed and a certain Litwick popped out of his Pokeball, flying towards Henry, prompting his Trainer to run after him. "Lucife-- whoa," the girl blurted out, when she was close enough to see the boy's injuries. Hurriedly, she waved the Trainer riding the Flygon over. "Ryan! We need bandages!"

[Tacos]

Ryan was shocked to see the utter dismay Group 2 was left in. How awful! How could the Donphan be so cruel... Unless... Ryan snapped back into reality as Raiza screamed to him for help. He tapped the Flygon on the back of the head and signaled him to dive. When they reached the ground, Ryan dug through his bag and tossed Raiza a roll of bandages. Ryan looked at everyone else. "Is everyone alright? I assume the Donphan did this to you guys? They ran through the camp only a few minutes ago, and Tyron and Alastair told us to come find you guys."

[Felicity]

Claude walked up to Tyron. "Like I said sir, I want to help. I can't say I knew Evan personally, but I do know he didn't like my room-mate, and that's a person I can get along with."

[Commander]

You've got to be kidding me. If two people weren't bad enough, now there's a whole group. I'll I need to...Raiza? What is she doing here? Henry looked at the familiar faces heading his way. "I know you're all worried about me, but I'm fine. It's more bruising than anything. If needed, I can get up and move."

Ryan's words got to Henry a bit more. "No, it was a bunch of Feebas that did it. Of course it was the Donphan, but you're pointing your anger in the wrong direction. Some hunters probably stirred them up or something." Henry wasn't sure if these students were aware of what was really going on, but dragging more people into the situation was a bad idea.

[Zephyrus the Priestess]

"Thanks." Raiza started unraveling the bandages. "By any chance, have you got some medicine for wounds in there, and some cotton balls?"

I know you're all worried about me, but I'm fine. It's more bruising than anything. If needed, I can get up and move.

"Are you sure? That looks really nasty," she said, evidently concerned, looking at all the blood on Henry's clothes. "How about your leg? Rogue can make some ice for it, and we'll wrap it up like a pack and strap it to your leg." In the meanwhile, the Lucifer circled around the boy, looking at him from every angle. Something about him seemed... different, somehow.

[Chevaleresse]

"Hey man, we're just here to help. The only angry one here is you," he replied to Henry. "'S not like we were here when it happened." He turned his head toward Ryan. "Anything I can help with?"

[Tacos]

Ryan remained unfazed after the verbal sass coming from Henry. If he doesn't want to appreciate the assistance, then I'll gladly leave. He turned back to Kage. "Well, I think Devin's here, did you want to talk to him? I can help Raiza with the medicine, don't worry. I'd be fine to hear your story later." Ryan tossed Raiza a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide, a small bag of cotton balls, and a miniature container of aspirin. "You have experience with medicine?" Ryan looked Raiza in the eyes as he spoke. At least something to get my mind off of this situation. Sure, I want to hear what Kage wants to say, but I need to help people, that's what I was assigned to do.

[TurboAura]

Watching as some of the people around him started forming groups, Robert returned Nikki and turned to Kiai, who had his paw towards the group of people huddling for the 'Evan search parties'. "Kiai, I'm guessing you think we should help them out?" With a simple nod, Robert couldn't really go against the suggestion, but he had hoped to wait back and let them have a deserved rest. Letting out a brief sigh, he put a grin on and nodded back. "Just... If there's trouble, stay defensive. Okay?" With a nod back, they walk towards the rest of them by the path. "If it's okay, I'd like to help in the search as well. I know Evan well enough to be able to spot him, and Kiai over here could help in some of the search if necessary."

[Zephyrus the Priestess]

"I've tripped and worse a ton back home, that's what you get when you live with a ton of Ghost Pokemon. Seen my mom patch me up countless times," the girl said, calmly enough. "Now. I need you to tell me exactly what happened, okay? Or I might end up patching up the wrong thing." Already preparing some cotton balls as she talked, Raiza looked Henry firmly in the eye.

[Commander]

Henry gave a quick sigh. "Do whatever you want. It's not like I'm going to be moving from this spot anytime soon. Even if I tried anything, Danielle would put a stop to it right away." Henry then heard Raiza speak to him again. "All that happened was a Donphan flung me into the air and into the wall behind. Now I know what it's like to be hit by a car. Anyways, all I really have is a few scratches and cuts at the worst, nothing big. As for the blood there," Henry gave a sigh. He hated telling people about this. "The Donphan nailed me right in the rib. He didn't go full force otherwise I'm sure it would've been broken again. I may have broken it a short while before coming to the academy. That's probably why I'm coughing a bit of blood on my shirt. It's not that dark so it shouldn't be too much of a concern."

"There's something else," Henry mumbled. "In Orre, money can sometimes be scarce and is conserved in families. We don't worry too much about injuries unless they are severe. So what may be a concern for you might be different than a concern in my perspective." I hate talking to people about these things, but I feel they are concerned about me...well at least Raiza might be. I haven't heard a single 'pon' out of her yet.

[DarkLight]

The inhabitants near the creek were observing the unfamiliar sight of a small, black bird hovering around their area. They could see her turn her head this way and that as if she was searching for something. When a few of the observers took their eyes off of the bird for a second, it was gone the next time they looked up.

A flurry of wing flaps could be heard before Avis landed near a strange, small device. After the dust settled, Avis peered at the gray little tracker, making sure that it fits the description that Devin had given her. Finally, a red light appeared for a second, confirming its identity. Satisfied with the results, Avis picked up the tracker in her beak and took into the air once more.

"Henry, I'm flattered. I didn't know that I was such a good influence on you~" Danielle teased after she waved a hello to her fellow classmates that she could see. Danielle was relieved to find them here safe and sound. After thanking Arceus in her mind, she addressed Henry's comment (as well as trying to explain his irritable personality.)

"Well, not to be mean, but we are not in Orre anymore. This is Ymora, where medical supplies and money are plentiful! So, don't worry your head over this~" Not a few seconds later after she finished, Danielle suddenly felt a weight on her shoulder before a yellow beak appeared in front of her face. After focusing her eyes onto the bright color, Danielle could see a small tracker in between the beak. "Instead, why don't you put your skills to the test with this while Raiza patches you up?" The coordinator took the tracker from Avis and handed it off to Henry. "Good job, Avis!" Danielle complimented her Murkrow, stroking her wing as her reward.
