He uses the confusion to attack instead of dodge. Sissy thought once she saw Shiro's pokemon. "Use your tail to jump and dodge it." She said hoping Miffy will do as she was told to. Miffy hitted her tail at the ground making her fly above Shun, dodging the attack. "Now charge up before you land." Multiple little sparks could be seen coming out from the Flaaffy, vanishing in seconds, making her wool double sized before landing. "Now shock them up with a little bit of electricity." It was the word that Miffy wanted to hear. Electricity. She started firing electrical shocks(Thunder Shock) all over the place making it hard for the targeting pokemon to dodge.

Without any way to stop her momentum, Shun kept going even after missing Miffy.

'Crap!'

As she was basicaly open like a sitting duck now, Miffy easily hit Shun with her Thunder Shock. The Ralts stumbled down and rolled around on the ground for a few feet landing, luckily, still inside the boundaries of the field. 'We lose if we get knocked out of the field... I shouldn't have been so reckless...'

"Shun, are you okay?" She just got up and stood facing the Flaffy. She must've had a determined look on her face below all that hair. "I- if you say so."

'Even though Shun missed and got hurt, we now got a clearer idea of their fighting style. That Flaffy will most likely use more of such attacks which hit the whole field and Shun won't be able to hide since there are no shadows here. The only thing we can really do at this point is ensnare her with Shadow Sneak, but that move is only really valid if we have a partner since Shun can't attack while casting it... What should I do?'

((you can move again if you want now since Shiro is indecisive; also, Shun should now be standing closer to Sissy than to Shiro on the field cuz of the combo move, she's somewhere around the corner to the left of Sissy, so she's also quite close to the edge))

Miffy's wool started minimizing once the thunder shock finished. She was really fired up with that battle, after all it was the first one she got after the day she evolved

.

Sissy looked at Shiro and at how skeptical he was. "You know, you don't need to always have a strategy. Just do what you feel right. Before I used the close up strategy with Sherlock, because he lacks speed. But with my girl now, I don't really need one. I just do what I feel it's the best." She smiled at him once she finished her sentence.

"Now back to the battle. Charge up once more." Miffy listened to her trainer and started gathering electricity once again inside her wool.

Henry felt the sun finally disappear. "Sometimes stubbornness like that comes with a price. Zuko, just like in training."

It looked as if that training with Tal finally paid off for the Vulpix. He dashed to the side using his claws to move out of the way from the water attack. He still wasn't done though. He jammed his claws into the ice causing him to spin a little bit. He then used the claws again to dash forward and stop once more. This time he was standing to where the Spheal was inbetween him and the boundary line. He began using the spinning fire once more to melt the ice. This gave him soggy, but safe enough ground to begin dashing across to nail the Spheal (Quick Attack). This was his one and only shot to win so he had to make it count.

Skarmory enjoyed the petting and compliments. This human could stay. “No, she doesn't have a name,” Evan said, keeping an eye on the Litwick. He found the little floating candle creepy. “I’m not good with nicknames so most of my Pokémon don’t have one.” And that Skarmory isn’t even mine. I didn’t catch her but still she follows me around.

At that point a Clefairy jumped out of her Pokéball. “Clefairy!” she yelled enthusiastically to show that she was the only one with a nickname.

"Hm... how 'bout Knives? It suits her wings, pon," Raiza suggested, oblivious to Evan's discomfort with Lucifer as she petted the Skarmory. "It's also the name of a character from a really fun comic called 'Scott Pilgrim VS. The World'. In her way, she's pretty badass, but up front she's a sweetheart, pon." The Trainer looked at the Clefairy. "Hi, there. Have you got a nickname, pon?" Glancing at Henry's battle again, she realized that the boy wasn't giving his Pokemon any commands. I don't know why, but... That's actually super cool. I wish I were that good. He took part in a tournament just to study here, right?

Having always been apathetic to whether or not his victims were aware of his antics and to how they felt about it, the Litwick stayed where he was. This was weird tasting food, but, life force is life force, and thus sustenance to the Ghost-Fire type. Mmm, soul food.

Java shivered ferociously as the Freeze Dry hit, but the attack had no where near the effectiveness as Jacob apparently thought it would due to the fact that... Java wasn't even touching the dang water. But both the Porygon and his Trainer got a bit miffed at the other boy's latest lecture, and it showed clearly in the eyes of them both.

"Yeah, Jacob, I can see alright..." Mareek said, venom lacing his voice. "But apparently you can't. Java isn't fucking touching the ground; He hovers- See?" Java moved himself up and down as he hovered in the air, having stopped shivering due to the Sun's warmth just before it faded away. Then he even strafed from side to side, back and forth, HOVERING the entire time and nowhere in contact with the earth. The Porygon just glared at Jacob and spitfyre as his trainer continued, because he thought what Mareek had ordered had been an excellent idea and had whole heartily agreed to the tactic; so railing against his trainer fot it was, in a way, railing against him for it as well. "So, I guess that makes me a 'Dolt' for just thinking two steps ahead and anticipating you'd use the Ice Field on Nemo and then sending out Java to turn your own strategy against you? Or perhaps I'm 'Reckless' because I ordered Java to electrocute the field knowing full well that due to him not having contact with the ground, he'd be perfectly safe to do it? Apparently I don't care about my team members, is that what you think? Fine, we're done here Java, I've honestly lost my respect for this opponent." He took out Java's ball, prepared to recall him in complete disgust at the uncalled-for berating and just forfeit... When his Dex pinged and stopped him.

it was a simple message from Java: No, keep going and prove him wrong. DO NOT forfeit.

Mareek slowly stowed the capsule back, sighing. This fight wasn't fun or exciting or even interesting to him anymore. Things had been completely soured in his eyes. "Alright, Java, if you want to keep going... I guess you're right. Let's prove him wrong..." a smirk crept onto his face as he worked exactly what he was gonna do. "Hey java, you're not touching the ground, right?" he asked sarcastically.

The thing just rolled it's eyes at the remark, hovering a little higher as a 'yes' of sorts.

"Then let's electrocute the field again, fun idea, right?"

Java... well if java had a mouth right now, or vocal cords for that matter, he'd be chuckling a bit. How ironic, continue fighting using the same tactic they had been reprimanded by the opponent for. Alright, he could get behind that idea. A few crackles and pops sounded as he hovered where he was, beginning to glow a faint yellow... then he unleashed Discharge just like he had for chalachi, hitting the spots close around him that had flash freezed again and melting them from the heat of the electricity... and all over again, the field was being electrocuted with tendrils of the stuff arcing right for Spitfyre, both on the water and arcing through the air...

Have fun, asshat... Mareek thought sarcastically as he watched the whole thing....

Jacob looked a bit confused, then shrugged. "I've never heard of a Pokemon having both the Levitate and whatever ability your Porygon has, but I suppose there's always room for new things." ((as in 'he doesn't have Levitate so how did that not affect him')). "Spitfyre, you've been watching Teo for two days and practicing with him. Time to take a page out of his book! Use Dig, and get far down so the moisture doesn't hurt you!" The Charmander nodded and got underground, insulating himself from the electrical effect. He burrowed across the field underneath the Porygon.

Then, in Spanish, the Trainer ordered, "Now, Dragon Rage it from beneath!" The Charmander opened up a hole underneath the Porygon and fired a powerful blue firebolt directly upward, hoping to score a hit on the Porygon.

((It's been discussed already in the OCC, I've been writing that Java Hovers since Mareek first got him and Chimchain himself raised no issue with my reasoning in this when I talked about it))

Hmm... guess that won't work twice... Mareek thought as Java was hit by a blast of blue flames and dirt bursting up from beneath him. The Freeze dry hadn't hurt a lot.. but this had, and it showed as the Porygon winced, looking quite injured from it. Mareek could tell that another bout of it, and... We might not be able to win this one if he's got Dragon Rage or something like it on that freaking lizard of his... oh well, still should try.

"Can you keep going?" he asked Java, concerned. The Porygon glared at him as if to say 'don't give in' "Alright... Fire off Triattack right into the hole that attack caused." Java focused and set up the Triangular attack before him, sending it flying into the dark depths of the hole beneath him....

Shun was keeping her guard up at this point. She was well aware that she won't be able to count on her trainer for this one but she intended to win neverthless, just for him. The Flaffy released another wave of Thunder Shocks after charging up, covering the whole field once again in a flurry of sparks.

"Shun!"

This was it, the moment of truth, the moment when she must shine....

"No way... she's ---!"

"Kir..."

-Magical Leaf-

"Lia!"

It was as if a rainbow suddenly blitzed around Shun, only to dissapear moments later in an explosion when the electrical attack hit.

"Shun, you're a...!" The smoke spiraled down around a beautiful blue-eyed Kirlia. At least a dozen iridescent leaves danced around her sleek silhuette. Shun evolved! "You're beautiful, Shun!" She closed her eyes and smiled.

Finally, she was strong enough.

"Glacien get out of the way!" Ryan yelled towards the rolling goofball, who suddenly gained a determined look in his eyes. He took one look at the Vulpix before shuffling to the right and charging a tremendously powerful Water Pulse. As Zuko got closer, Glacien released the attack, pushing himself backwards along the border of the battlefield, narrowly avoiding the attack from Zuko.

"But I can't be reckless... If I don't think things through, someone might get hurt..."

"You need to trust your partner and your heart." Once she finished her sentence, she saw Miffy releasing once again thunder shocks all over the place. I guess this is the part where everything goes bad. "No Miffy! Don't attack just yet!" But it was too late. The lighting shocks were covering the battlefield once again, hitting everything in it, including Shun. But something was wrong at her. She started to evolve right before the lighting striked her.

"That's great!" Sissy smiled at Shiro. "She evolved in the middle of our battle."

She then turned at her fluffy pokemon, only to see her yawning. "I figured it out, that this will happen." She sighed. "If this isn't going to be like a performance, she will just give up." And to do that we will have to use one of the few combos she have.

"Okey then. You wanna see a performance move?" She asked Shiro. "Let's show them one. Miffy, Iron wave." The Flaffy snapped out of her yawning position once she heard the combo. It was finally time to demonstrate her power and beauty. Her tail started glowing in a white-silver light(Iron Tail) while her wool started minimizing, giving out all the electricity she had left, from the last charge, to her tail.(Thunder wave) As a result her tail was now glowing with both the light from its own but also from the many sparks it was surrounded. She started dashing towards Shun, and seconds before she reached her, she jumped and targeted the Kirlia with her tail.

"Spitfyre, collapse the tunnel before it can get to you!" the Trainer shouted. A muffled grunt along with the sound of cascading dirt could be heard from the other side of the tunnel. Sounds like he took part of that attack. He's a tough one, though. He's not going down that easy. Plus, the harsh sunlight's been drying the field this whole time. "Now, finish him with an aerial Incinerate!" The Charmander quickly tunneled behind the Porygon and burst out of the ground above the level of the Porygon, the harsh sunlight illuminating the various scratches and bruises he'd received from the Tri-Attack. A ball of orange flame began growing in his mouth until he unleashed a wide, powerful gout of flame toward the Porygon. The heat from the attack was palpable even on Jacob's side of the field, his field of vision obscured by the refraction from the stream of fire.

"You need to trust your partner and your heart."

"She evolved in the middle of our battle."

'Is it true? Shun did that just for me, and I can't even put my trust into her? I can't even believe in my own strenght? I- I should change that. Shun, I won't let you down.' A smile danced on his lips.

"I- I'll change, Shun! You can trust me, a- and I'll trust you! Now, if they want a performance, let's give them one!"

'Am I... enjoying this? This is the first time I am feeling this way during a battle. This rush, this... warmth? It's because of Shun- and Sharph, even Tal! I- I wil battle with all I've got since I'm battling for them too.' He stuck his hand into his pocket, pulling out his Pokedex. 'So I was right, her new move is Magical Leaf. Then...'

"Shun, block her strike with Magical Leaf and then strike back with Breaker while she's still close!"

Shun nodded in response and made a piruette, summoning a flurry of magic leaves around herself, blocking her from view. The pillar of leaves burst into multicolored lights when Miffy's charged up Iron Tail hit them, just when Shun's two horns began glowing purple again. She focused her energy into her feet and right fist, plummeting herself right at the Flaffy with full force.

"Go, Shun!!"

Java was officially starting to hate Fire Types now. First that Torkoal from yesterday, and now this lizard... Needless to say, the flames were intense when they slammed into the back of the porygon and sent him flying forward before he could give any reaction, only to be caught by the red beam of Mareek holding up his ball and recalling him before putting the capsule back onto his belt. He could've tried to prolong things, have him use the same Conversion 2 strategy they had yesterday... but what would've been the point in that? Java was already hurting from the D-rage, so why push him any further in a battle where who won didn't necessarily even matter? And honestly, Mareek himself had just completely lost interest in this engagement.

"Good Match," was all he said, out of sheer formality, to Jacob as he walked off his place on the end of the field and headed over towards Lana where she sat next to Evan and some other girl. He didn't really know her company all that well, but it didn't matter to him; at the moment he just wanted to get as far away from the other trainer as he could and put this whole experience behind him. A message from Java came through on his Dex.

Vengeance... Someday.

"Calm down," he said to the screen as he continued walking. "They just happened to have Dragon Rage. Things could've gone a lot differently back there if not for that saving grace..." then he thought about a little. "Wait, what do you want it for?" the answer was painfully obvious even as he asked. "No wait... don't, I already know; insulted pride, right?"

YES!!! Blazed in big black letters on the screen.

"Calm down Java..." he said, again trying to Placate the Porygon which was obviously occupying the Dex's Operating system. "We're better than that, aren't we? We don't have to stoop to doing crap to other people just because of something as petty as pride, do we? Or maybe I've just misjudged you?"

There was no response. Then the word fine took the place of the 'Yes' on the screen and the device shut off on it's own. He put it back in his pocket. and took a seat near where Evan and Lana and the Girl he hadn't met sat, not saying anything as he did so as he found that he wasn't quite keen on talking right now, despite previous thoughts...

"Quick Miffy use charge to guard yourself!" Sissy shouted at her pokemon. But it was too late. The attack hitted Miffy, throwing her some meters back where she vanished in a red light. "You did great. Now get a good rest." She said holding Miffy's pokeball.

She then turned her look at Shiro. "And with this, our battle is over I think." She started walking, away from the battlefield, at the place where Robert was watching.

Miss flew off her trainer's head and went in front of Shiro, making a bow and then went straight to her trainer again.

Seeing as the battle had finished up, Robert had a big smile on his face. It wasn't the strategies, Shun evolving, or anything really like that, but Shiro himself. Shiro seemed to be getting a lot more confident, as if the battle, or something else during the trip, ignited something that boosted him up. Getting back into focus, he saw Sissy coming over to him, and just started from there.

"Now THAT was a great battle. I just hope I can do as good in my own match as you two."

Shun landed gracefully on her left knee after hitting Miffy directly with her attack. She rose up as her horns returned to red to bow to her foes. She saw the Misdreavus doing the same thing to Shiro. Shiro, however, was standing in awe at his victory. The whole thing was something new to him. The blazing rush of victory made his heart pump harder. He didn't notice, but he was crying.

"Shun, that was awesome!" He welcomed his Pokemon as she jumped into his embrace.

"Ri ~" She chirped into his chest and grasped his sweater. She was overjoyed; her trainer praised her, her and not some dumb lizard thing which was made for battle. She proved to him and herself that she was indeed strong and worthy, and there was no better feeling than the feeling of self-accomplishment shared by both of them.

"Now THAT was a great battle. I just hope I can do as good in my own match as you two."

"Huh?" Shiro rose his head when he heard the familiar voice. And there he stood, along with Sissy. Robert. How long has he been here? "Shun, let's go." He held her up, a bit surprised at how light she still was, and put her on his shoulder, where she took a comfortable seat. "Robert, hey! Did you see that, it was so cool! Shun was so great, wasn't she!" He turned to Sissy then and reached out with his hand. "Thanks, i- if it wasn't for the things you said, I... Thanks!" He said with a nervous laugh.

"Thanks, i- if it wasn't for the things you said, I... Thanks!"

Sissy turned around and saw Shiro. "Well, no need to thank me." She shook his hand. "But instead thank her." She then pointed at Shun.

"By the way, I am Sissy." She smiled at him.

'To believe in yourself... And your Pokemon.' Danielle looked over at her three partners in crime. They had finally gathered together by her side, chatting in their Pokespeak continuously in hushed voices. She smiled at their friendship before her gaze settled on Sissy and Shiro's battle, which has just ended. 'And Henry also said to have fun... Which he wasn't having, for some reason.' Danielle stared at that field, a little puzzled. She didn't have time to ponder why though; Jacob and Mareek's battle has also ended with Jacob winning. Danielle clapped at their performance, feeling slightly cheerful and nervous at the same time. "I wonder who is up next." she said softly to no one in particular.

Jacob nodded to Mareek, returning his "Good match" before rushing onto the field and wrapping his Fire-type in a big Beartic hug. "You did awesome, Spitfyre! Although we really lucked out that Zuko happened to be on the other field, you did great!" Suddenly, Jacob had to shield his eyes as his Charmander began glowing in his arms. Knowing what was coming, the Trainer set Spitfyre on the ground on front of him and watched intently as the glowing white form began to change shape. This is actually happening! Jacob thought excitedly. My first Pokemon evolution! A huge grin was spread across his face as he observed the amazing process. Spitfyre appeared to be growing quite a lot, and on top of his head the telltale ridge of his next form was beginning to show.

Finally, the glowing light died down and Jacob looked at his newly evolved Charmeleon. "Char!" Spitfyre said coolly, blowing smoke out his nostrils. He looked up at his Trainer and nodded gratefully. Jacob returned the gesture and beckoned to Spitfyre to follow him off the field toward Danielle. He was smiling like an idiot by the time he reached her and couldn't keep from looking down at Spitfyre. Once they were off the field he bent down and rubbed the flame lizard's head affectionately. "All our training paid off today, Spits. I can't tell you how proud I am of you, especially using Dig like that in a pinch." The Trainer then took Arete's Ball off his belt and released the egg Pokemon.

She wandered curiously over to Spitfyre, inspecting him head-to-toe, even going so far as to lift his tail with her stubby arms. She gave a satisfied cry and toddled back over to Jacob, raising her arms to indicate she wanted up. Her Trainer complied, lifting her up and smiling broadly as he walked the short distance to Danielle. "I don't think any victory Spits has had so far compares to besting Java. Mareek is a great Trainer, no doubt about it." He then looked at his friend, who seemed quite nervous. "Danielle, you're going to do great. I know it. You need to have a little more faith in yourself and your partners," he said softly. "BUT HOW FRIGGIN' COOL WAS SPITFYRE EVOLVING?" In response Spitfyre smirked and looked away, proud of himself but not wanting to be a part of his Trainer's overenthusiasm.

"You will do great. I'll be there to cheer you up!

With that comment, his smile had gotten even wider and, without thinking, ended up putting his hand behind his head in the 'awkward self-laughter' way. During which he heard Shiro's own voice.

"Robert, hey! Did you see that, it was so cool! Shun was so great, wasn't she!"

Before he could reply, he seemed to shift focus to Sissy, who seemed to be returning the 'thanks' of the battle, while also point to some congrats to Shun aswell.

"Yeah, she did really good. But from what I've seen before, she's always been strong, in her way atleast. What I was actually suprised by, and truely impressed by, was you. You showed a lot of, how should I say, confidence during that battle. I hope Shun doesn't take this the wrong way, but I think what truely won you two the battle was BOTH of your determinations. Make sure to keep that in mind, and you'll just keep getting better."

Danielle laughed at Spitfyre's reaction to Jacob's excitement. "Aww, Spitfyre. Don't be like that. I would probably react the same way when Corona or Avis evolves." She gave a thumbs up to Jacob on a job well done. Her Pokemon also broke out of their conversation to greet the newly-evolved Charmeleon. They didn't seem a bit nervous about the upcoming battle at all. In fact, they seemed excited, especially Zared, who knows that he is guaranteed a battle. Danielle smiled with relief before acknowledging Jacob's advice. "Thanks, Jacob. With just a peppy squad like that, I really shouldn't worry, especially after witnessing such a beautiful and cool event~ Congratulations!"

Jacob chuckled and scratched the back of his head. "No problem. And whoever you battle is gonna really have to watch out for your team. You have some unusual typings for a rookie trainer, and I get the feeling that's gonna throw a lot of people off." He smiled as he looked over at Spitfyre, who seemed to enjoy the attention he was receiving from Danielle's Pokemon. He looked particularly interested in Corona, having not spoken to another Fire-type since the day of his capture. "Looks like Spitfyre is a bit more sociable than I thought he was," Jacob commented offhandedly. Arete was squirming to get out of his grip, so he let the Togepi down to toddle over and join the conversation. "Look, when you battle you just need to remember one thing: winning isn't something you do 'at any cost.' It takes perseverence and thinking on your feet. You need to keep a cool head. The minute you're caught off-guard, your Pokemon will be too. Don't worry, though! I'll be rooting for you," he said with a smile. I'm glad things are back to the way they were, he thought to himself. It would've really stunk to lose a good friend like Danielle over something as silly as a crush.

Zephyr, Stratos and Azery

“That’s Faith,” Evan introduced his newly evolved Clefairy to Raiza. He then turned his attention back to Mareek who took a seat not far from him. He quickly glanced but didn’t say anything, just like Lana. The breeder wanted to comfort or at least say something to Mareek but wasn’t sure if that was the right thing to do.

In the meantime Alastair cleared his throat. “Raiza Marson and James Nerfion; your battle will start at Professor Cadmus’s field.”

K_H and Murdoc

After Alastair announced the new battle he looked over to Tyron. The loud teacher was trying to make eye contact and gave a thumb up. “Kenny Holmes and Kageharu Tsukihashi; please make your way to Professor Silva’s field. He’s waiting to supervise your battle.
