Pokémon Academy: Ch 2a: Dragons [IC]

"Heh,i guess it's my turn to shine....this'll be amusing."James said as he stood up from his bench and walked over to Proffesor Cadmus's field."I hope you put up a sufficient challenge,Raiza...otherwise i'd be dissapointed."James muttered the last part as he went past Raiza and took his position at the battle field.

[Bfroger6]

"I'm Shiro. Uhm, pleased to meet you. And... I- I suppose I should thank her too. She was the one who really stood up for me." He said, smiling at Shun when he heard Robert speaking. He turned to him to hear what he was saying. What Robert said didn't quite get to Shiro at that point though. Shun, however, enjoyed the praise she received from the boy.

He jumped suddenly when he realized he had just blurted out to Robert and then went on to speak to Sissy, ignoring his friend to an extent. "Sorry sorry sorry! I didn't mean to ignore you... But, what you said... M- my determination? I suppose... I was determined to win, but can that alone make a difference. I mean... if Shun and Sharph weren't there..."

[Sutoratosu]

Mareek was wringing his hands in the silence between the group. What was said and what was done during the battle all played through his mind a few times, and he poured concentration into analyzing it with each one. He had multi tasked with sending in Nemo, both testing him to see if the poor thing would choke in the heat of a fight, and also setting the way for what he had anticipated the opposition to do... Then when Nemo went down, Like Mareek knew full well form the beginning he probably would, Java had gone in... and then the field shock... and then...

Why the hell am I getting so worked up about this for? He thought to himself, shaking his head. I knew what the hell I was doing when I issued every order... I always had some plan in mind or some purpose or foresight. So why is this type of thing that's so trivial when you get down to it so bothersome? Usually I'd just brush it off and say whatever... and to top it off, Java is even more pissed than I am; Though, he has a somewhat legitimate reason I guess...

"So," He said, looking up from the ground to Lana, deciding that maybe talking to someone would prove helpful. "I'm guessing you saw that match between me and Jacob just now..."

[DarkLight]

Corona chirped happily, waving her two front legs at a fellow Fire type as a greeting. She also wouldn't mind if she was picked up for a hug. As Arete came over to join them, Danielle's three Pokemon made some space to let the Togepi safely in. Avis even lowered her head down to the ground so that she would be at eye level with the egg, hoping that that would make Arete more comfortable with them.

After the next two matches are announced, Danielle chuckled. "That, my friend, is whole point. Us coordinators thrive in uniqueness. I wouldn't have it any other way with these three." She turned back to find Spitfyre getting comfortable around the group. Her heart warmed at the sight. 'He's right. I can't let them down now. If I freak out, they do too. I just need to relax and have fun. Then, everything will come along naturally.' With a more determined look on her face, she turned back to Jacob. "Thanks, Jacob. I'll make sure to give everyone a good show, without running off this time. I'm sure these three will appreciate it too." She then patted a seat beside her, inviting Jacob to sit down and relax. "After that intense match, I'm sure you would want a seat. Why don't you sit down so we could continue chatting?"

[Felicity]

Claude, after watching the stunning conclusions of Jacobs and Mareeks battles, was tired from cheering and figured his voice needed a rest. He walked over to where some students and saw Jacob and Danielle. He walked over, calling out to them, though not too loud. "Hey guys! Jacob, congrats on that win! You were great out there!" He said to Jacob, beaming at the fellow boy.

[TurboAura]

'Wait, did he just go to the other extreme? Well, I guess he may have still been focused on Sissy to understand properly.' With that, he tried to make his statement a little more 'specific.'

"Eheh, well that's not what I meant, but I guess I said it wrong. What I mean is... Okay, it's not just you out in the battle, and it's not just them either. Both you AND your pokemon were determined in that battle, and that is how you and your team grow strong, together." With the statement done, he turned to Sissy. "I'm saying it correctly, right?" Meanwhile his brain picked up something else that his confidence can help with.

'Maybe this can even help him get Tal to listen to him more? Confidence SHOULD mean something to that Snorunt, so it should atleast help with that.'

[Bfroger6]

"S-so, you're saying I, no we-" His eyes flashed left towards Shun and she responded the same way. Her sky blue eyes... "we won because we trusted one another!"

'So, if what Robert says is true, was that the feeling I had during the battle? That warm fuzzy feeling...' He pondered on the thought.

"Do you and your Pokemon feel like that during battle? It's like Sissy told me. I have to be able to put my trust in my Pokemon, and you, b- because we're friends, right, and friends stick together." He smiled.

'Yeah... friends.' He got lost in thought. At that moment, he felt truly happy and that was something he never felt in his life. At home, he had everything except friends... so he couldn't feel real joy. But now... Robert... Shun... He wasn't alone anymore.

[Commander]

How in the hell did...you know nevermind. "Zuko, spin yourself around a bit while using your clause and follow it with Confuse Ray." The Vulpix understood the orders and a very scratchy and irritating sound while trying to stop. When he reach the edge he began sprinting with his legs thinking he was going to slide off when his claws suddenly locked themselves into the ground. It seemed like the Drought had an effect on the ice whether or not Henry had planned it. Zuko released another ball of light that quickly zoomed around the Spheal. The dizziness was an opportune time for the Vulpix to strike so he used this solid ground to push off and came in close before readying his head to nail the Spheal in a final attempt to knock it off the field (feint attack).

[Tacos]

"Well if the game you want to play is trying to knock me off, I hate to disappoint you, it won't happen." Ryan tensed. I don't know how long we can keep this up. "Try it again Glacien!" The Spheal prepared yet another Water Pulse. Before even waiting for Vulpix to come, he launched it pushing himself back to the center of the field, before accidentally spinning around, shooting streams of water all across the field.

[Zephyrus the Priestess]

"Eh. So I guess it's our turn, innit, Lucifer?" Raiza said, recalling Achlyx to her Pokeball as the Litwick hovered over eagerly. James Nerfion. Who's this kid, again? And as if on cue, said kid walked by. "... Eh. Anyway, nice meeting you and your Pokemon, Evan. They seem really attached to you, pon; take care of 'em." She waved to Faith and patted the Skarmory before passing by Lana and... That was Mareek, wasn't it? "HeygirlI'mgonnagodobattlecan'tkeepthevictimwaitingI'lltalktoyoulaterplayniceponokaybye." And with that she took her place on the battlefield.

She looked at her opponent, waiting for him to make a move.

[Chevaleresse]

This'll be interesting. "Ready, Reina?" The little Tyrunt chuffed an affirmative, which prompted a laugh from Kage. "Excellent. Let's go." The Rock-type was pretty eager to display her power, so she lead the way to the field.

[Jory]

Jacob was about to sit down when he heard Claude call to him. He looked up and smiled at the Coordinator, happy to see another friend. "Oh, thanks man! I didn't even realize you were watching. And it wasn't just me out there. Chalchi nailed that first bit,although I think I'm getting a little predictable with that Frozen Field," he said thoughtfully. "I'm going to need to draw up some new strategies, or else Mareek is gonna pick me apart if we battle again. Spitfyre, though..." he trailed off, looking toward the group of Pokemon. Arete was getting along with Danielle's Pokemon much better than before, even going so far as to gesture emphatically to the Murkrow while she chattered away. Spitfyre could only grin and close his eyes, shaking his head at the excitable egg. Jacob then blinked a few times and looked back toward Danielle. "Look at that. Got so carried away thinking about my Pokemon that I forgot to sit down," he managed to squeeze out between chuckles.

He sat where Danielle had indicated with a heavy sigh of relief. He turned to Danielle, smiling broadly. "I'm excited to watch your battle! Are you gonna dazzle me?" he asked half-seriously, cracking a grin. He then turned back to Claude. "Anyway, Claude, do you remember what I said to you in the forest earlier about Spitfyre?"

[Aurorix]

"Hey guys," Slade said confused towards Danielle, Jacob, and Claude, "You know I've been here the entire time right?" He said peering out from behind Danielle while sitting down. Flare also by his side sitting down by his feat.

[Azeria]

"Let's get this battle started!"James said as he sent out the Dratini he had captured the day before.From what he saw,Raiza prefered to use dark type pokemon,this would mean that Luna and Shade where at a considerable disadvantage,In said scenario the best pokemon to send out would be Tytaniell and Liona and as such he sent out the Dratini.

[Zephyrus the Priestess]

"Huh. No question about this." Out popped a black, fuzzy dragon. Toothless rasped and growled at the Dratini eagerly, issuing a challenge to the Dragon-type. "Oi, friend! GL, HF, pon!" Raiza cried out to her opponent, for the sake of sportsmanship. "Wait for it to strike, sweetie; we've got to finish this, and quick. Focus Howl, pon!" With that, Toothless drew in a sharp breath and shrieked with ear-shattering frequency in an attempt to get the Dratini off guard. But instead of the Screech fazing him afterwards, the Deino seemed more focused, ready to hit, ready to battle.

[Azeria]

"Sure,you too.Now let's get this show on the road.Liona use Water Pulse on the Battlefield,then use Thunder Wave!"As the words came out James's mouth,Liona though slightly intimidated by the Loud Growl still charged a Blue Orb filled with H2O and blasted it on the Field wetting it afterwards Electricity started traveling through the field and towards the Deino .

"Earth Power, pon!" Toothless reared back and slammed his stubby legs into the earth, making it explode in between himself and the Dratini. The wet ground either flew everywhere or stood in uneven places so that the moisture and electricity wouldn't reach the Dark-Dragon type. He pawed the ground in his place, eager to attack. "Best defense is a great offense, innit?" she cried out. The plan, for the time being, was to defend until an opening revealed itself.

[Azeria]

"True enough,Liona use Twister to blow that Deino away,then thunder wave into the twister.Don't get into close range with that Deino"James commanded after seeing his opening strategy get blasted away.The wind started moving into a small tornado and all the wet ground was forrced upwards and it started moving towards the Deino.As it got closer,Liona used thunder wave again into the Twister that was making it's way towards the Deino.

[Tses]

"I'm saying it correctly, right?"

"Yes, you said it correct." Sissy replied at Robert. "But it seems, he is a bit too focused on his thoughts."

"Do you and your Pokemon feel like that during battle? It's like Sissy told me. I have to be able to put my trust in my Pokemon, and you, b- because we're friends, right, and friends stick together."

"Personally I do. I could be furious about Miffy using the second charge shock combo, due to she disobeyed me, but I'm not." She turned her look at Shiro. "It was her choice to finish the attack hoping it can work as the first time. And I can't blame her for that. I trust her on the choices she takes." And with that she finished her talk with her attention being drawn by another student that was reaching the battlefield.

Isn't this Kage? So his battle is up next. "Hey Kage." She shouted at him. "Good luck with your battle."

[Felicity]

"No, we just chose to completely and totally ignore you!" Claude replied with only the barest trace of sarcasm in his voice as he looked to Slade. "Don't worry my friend, it was simply that congratulations were in order first." He then went to answer Jacobs question, plucking the memory from his thoughts. "Yeah, you said Spitfyre was going to be the strongest pokemon on your team, no? Well, it's certainly visible from that little display just now"

[TurboAura]

With Sissy's conformation, Robert was about to reply back to Shiro when Sissy had already began doing so, waiting to start until after. "Well, yeah, a trainer and their team needs to be able to trust eachother, otherwise their less able to bring out eachother's bests with teamwork. And with what Sissy brought up, I assume that she believes Miffy must of had good reasoning for letting of that second charge, and even if it's a problem, then it can be learned from and taken care of through trust."

Having a feeling that he was starting to trail of, Robert heard Sissy's 'good luck' to Kage and remembered the situation they were in. "So, do either of you want to watch a battle before I'm up, or should we atleast make room for the spectators of this match?"

"Sorry, it's because of me that we got carried away talking about obvious things... a- and I don't have anything better to do so let's go watch whichever battle you'd like to see." Shiro said with a smile.

[Commander]

"Zuko, return to me," ordered Henry. The Vulpix watched the Spheal slide into the middle while he was sliding along the border of the field. He released and Ember a little ways ahead of him and used the newly created mud spot to push off and slide back to his side. He continued doing this to change directions until he finally was a few mere inches from his trainer.

"I'm not forfeiting this match because I think I'm going to lose, in fact, I still might be able to win, but my Pokemon aren't experienced in fighting that long and it'd certainly wouldn't be good on them by putting them in that situation so quickly. You said yourself you'd be willing to put them in that situation so there's no point in continuing. And here's a bit of advice: some battles just aren't winnable so you may as well enjoy the time you have left before they come around." Henry then turned and left the field while the Vulpix followed shortly behind him.

Meanwhile, Paradox saw Zuko sliding around on the ice which looked like fun. She quickly ran into the field falling flat on her face. It looked as if she was about to cry, but she suddenly stopped when she saw Henry leaving. She got back up, struggling to run across the ice until she reached solid ground. Thankfully, it wasn't too difficult to keep up with Henry's slow pace.

[Chim]

Stratos

“I saw your battle,” Lana said a little insecure. It was obvious Mareek didn’t like the outcome. “It was unfortunate you lost, but you did a great job! I think that Cubone of yours is really cute and that tactic with Porygon was really smart.” She just hoped she didn’t say anything wrong and Mareek would cheer up a little.

Evan’s Skarmory walked behind Lana and started to stare at Mareek. Yet another interesting human, but she already saw this one. Was it a friend of her trainer?

Tacos, Elf and Turbo

Phoebe watched Henry leave and turned her attention to Ryan. “Well, I guess you win.” She signaled Alastair to announce the next battle.

The breeder took his list and cleared his throat again. “The next battle is between Kyle Burlinksi and Robert Parkhurst. Good luck to both of you!”

Ah, shoot. Basically, an electric tornado. "Get out of the way, pon! Make a crater and hunker down so the twister won't hit you," she called to Toothless. The little dragon made a mad dive to his left stomped down again in an effort to make a sort of slanted ditch on the side of some raised ground, crouching down as low as possible to not get hit by the electrified twister till it was well out of the way.
