Maelstrom
An earthbound fan is always welcome. Which reminds me of something that I found recently that hit me in the feels. Hope you enjoy your time in the Navy as much as I've hated my time in the Army. In any case, there's plenty of stuff around here for you to peruse. Sounds like you might like the favorite book thread and I'd say you should acquaint yourself with some good anime, but there's quite a few suggested around here that I'd say to steer clear of. GotWala
Haha, thanks Maelstrom! I've watched a some anime (FMA: Brotherhood, Cowboy Bebop, and Code Geass are the only ones worth mentioning...) and I've read plenty of books (Though only a few of them I'd actually consider "fun" to read, haha) so I'd have some good, if not brief, input on that stuff. I sincerely hope my service in the Navy will be satisfying, if not enjoyable. Also, that video was wonderful! I've always loved this kind of stuff. NickCrash
You do have a nice taste for anime. I give you that.
GotWala
Ahh, thanks Nickcrash! I personally have a hard time deciding between Bebop and Brotherhood for my all-time favorite! I've also seen some... Anime that didn't particularly stimulate my palette because my friend is into it and forced me to watch... ( Gundam period (Though I did like 00 and Build Fighters), Sekirei, Higurashi, Dragonauts, and the list goes on... Haha.) I hope I didn't offend anyone with my dislike for those Anime, but I'm honestly not much of an anime guy to begin with, haha!
Magus
Dawwwwwww Fiddlesticks, I'm late to the welcome wagon AGAIN. GotWala
Hola to you as well, hombre, haha! I'd love to talk anime with you, VSharma, but I'm sure I wouldn't have much to say and my pickiness about what I like might come off as rude, haha. Deleted User
I wish you and the rest of our current, former, and former troops the best. Teaching can be interesting, so long as you enjoy what it is you plan to teach, what level and subject were you thinking of at the time? I really think that you and I will get along personality wise as well. We need more people like us. One country I'd highly recommend going to if you're ever presented the opportunity to do so is Switzerland, it's absolutely gorgeous at the alps and the nice small towns they have. Finally, I admire how much you strive to be self-sufficient. Even if it isn't always working out right now, you'll be sure to do fine later on in life man. For the next 5 months or so you'll be around, we're glad to have you man.
GotWala
Wow, That's probably the nicest and most genuine thing anyone has ever said to me on a forum site. I'm thankful for the support your giving me and my teammates, even if they can't here it, haha. I was considering teaching High School as a Sociology/Psychology Teacher (Most likely majoring in English or History). I've still been study the field of Sociology, even if an arbitrary money dump (College) won't accept the fruits of my labor, haha! As for Switzerland, I'll definitely have to go if it's anywhere like the German Alps. Man, that was the most serene I've ever felt... Though I'll definitely put Switzerland as a place to go to up there with Australia (My Grandfather and Father who served have never been there, so my Grandpa made me promise him I'd go there.). Hopefully after this 5 month time, I'll have been a cool guy to be around; it's the least I could do, haha. In all honesty, I'm filled with joy to hear such praise for me, even if some of my self-sufficiency is taken by my family and close friends to be foolishness and worse utter madness, haha! All in all, I'm happy to be accepted by you, and I'm sure I'll enjoy my time here with such a wonderful community!
NickCrash
I second Switzerland! Try to visit cities like Zurich, Geneva, Lausanne. They are all beautiful and you have a nice view from the Alps (some photos I took were amazing), if you don't feel like exploring them yourself. GotWala
Haha, alright! That makes two people who I need to see Switzerland for! I don't really know why I never thought of it when I love the German Alps so much...

GotWala
Indeed, haha! It was probably my favorite part of Earthbound when your playing as Jeff. Ahh, now I'm reminiscing about Earthbound again... And about how awesome Jeff was when I used him... Good times, good times, haha.
GotWala
Hello everyone! Apologies in advance since I believe this technically counts as a "Necropost", but I felt like making a new topic here would be kinda silly, haha. It's been a pretty long time since I've been on here... I think about a year? Which is pretty regrettable, to say the least! I figured I'd sort of announce my return to Reborn and give a brief (Or at least, my definition of brief, haha...) synopsis of what I've been up to for the past while and a half, haha. First off, I got to partake in the glorious experience that is "Basic Training" in Great Lakes, IL. It was a trying experience, not due to difficulty in the tasks of the day, but from the mild existential crises I would have while pondering the choices I made in life leading up to this point, haha. 8 weeks of doing what I'm told and nothing more went by surprisingly quickly and I was able to "honor" my family legacy by being awarded for folding t-shirts correctly and making my bed, haha. Overall, it was definitely a positive, and I say this with the utmost truth, a positive experience for me which did a great deal towards generally motivating me to action! After that, I flew to Groton, CT where I spent the next 8 months learning about submarines and about my job and skillset as a Sonar Technician! I assumed I wouldn't really "cherish" the memories of time spent with the other sailors due to the nature of our job, but I can't honestly forget any of the experiences we shared as fellow students of the Navy. Having passed the various trials and schools with flying colors, I can proudly say that my new skillset translates to the civilian world through minor trigonometry, sound theory, and the ability to identify the Kama Sutra of dolphins by sound and sound alone, haha! Anyways, I can't stress enough just how much my time has changed me for the better, despite having yet to even experience "The Real Navy". Now stationed in Bangor, WA, I will continue the rest of my contract as a rated Sonar Technician aiding in deterrent patrols for the next 4 years. While I'll be around more often than my other submariner brethren, I will also disappear again abruptly and without much warning! Though I suppose it won't be much different than what I've already done, haha. As for why I disappeared, I had honestly assumed that I'd never have time for this place again and didn't want to drag people down with my memory (Narcissistically assuming I had much of an impact, haha!). However, I've learned that any relationship and the memories made from them is worth holding on to; no matter how fleeting! The experiences we share with one another help us grow as people from the subtlest of perspective changes to complete reevaluations of our own condition. I want to make more memories with as many people as I can, in hopes of truly learning about this wonderful life! I hope your all willing to put up with this nosy, self-absorbed, sappy, fool for just a bit longer, haha!
Ironbound
Welcome back, GotWala. I don't know you, but I'm glad to make your acquaintance. And Reborn has Shadow Tag, it's impossible to leave without returning eventually. I myself had been a lurker for a very long time before joining in. And don't bother about Shia's cake. I already burnt it.
Arkhi
oml I remember you. I loved having you here, the frequent "haha"s grew on me and made any conversation sound cheerful. Really glad you're back! Since your post does contribute to the initial discussion in that it's still an introduction, I wouldn't call it an unnecessary necropost. It's fine by me. Enjoy your time back!
