[IC] As Gods Sleep Chapter 3: Of Wind and Rain

[Chevaleresse]

As the group stepped through the rift created by the mysterious Mewtwo, they arrived in much better order than their sudden, hurried trip to the center of the world. They were greeted by a desolate, harsh landscape.

The ground was parched, and it almost looked like it hadn't rained in centuries. Each footstep sent up puffs of windblown dust, yet the dirt underneath was hard-packed and rocky. The sun beat down on them almost violently and sweat rolled down the brows of anyone out in the heat. It was near the threshold of unbearable, but not quite there. They seemed to be in a canyon, and the high walls provided a small respite from the heat, though it was nearly noon. A fading thought echoed in the minds of the party. Continue in the direction you already face. There is life there, life that may lead you to a Plate. Then, the presence was gone, as if a gust of wind had whisked it away.

((You'll find a few wild Pokemon. Most of them will flee, but some will be hostile. I'll let this free run for a while.))

[Zephyrus the Priestess]

Goddamn, it was hot. Well... the Base was situated in a sort of dust basin desert with a ton of hazards, but this? For some reason this was even worse in terms of heat. "Continue in the direction we already face, huh? Let's get to it, then," Zephyr said briskly to anybody who would listen. She hated excessive heat-- it was a bit cooler in the shade, but this temperature was ridiculous. Sweating profusely was completely different from having a bath. What's more, is that she was wearing a black tank top. Somebody was definitely going to be throttled by the neck later if they didn't get this job done soon.

On the other hand, Cerberus basked in the heat, enjoying it like any sane Fire-type would. From the shadows of the valley wall, Chaos scratched herself behind her ear irritably. "Sometimes I hate being a Dark-type," she grunted, referring to how she had black fur.

[K_H]

Kenny spoke to Chaos, keeping in the shade of the Valley Wall due to the intense heat.

"Hey, at least we won't die of thirst. I am a Water Type, after all."

The blue-ringed Dark-type looked at the Dewott funnily. "Y'know, I never could understand how that works... Don't y'all run out of water or... err, spit?"

The Dewott looked at the Moonlight Pokemon funnily.

"Do you seriously think that a Water Type actually holds water internally? i mean, come on, there is no possible way i could've kept enough water inside me for using Hydro Pump when i was an Oshawott, and yet i was still able to."

"Hey, man, even I dunno how we work," Chaos said, shrugging. "Heck, I don't even know how our abilities work. Cerby here, his are probably easier to understand; probably got an oxygen tank and a lighter deep, deep, deeeeeep inside that bony gut." The Umbreon gestured to the Houndoom in question jokingly. Cerberus on the other hand yawned and stretched. "Hey, now, stop making me question my existence, you guys. All I know is that I can burp fire and dark energy. I'm quite happy to leave it at that, thank you very much."

Kenny nodded in agreement with Cerberus.

"Some things are better left as a mystery."

[DarkLight]

Land.

Dust.

And sun.

Lots and lots of them, to boot.

Those were the first thoughts that came into Nivia, the Dewgong's, mind as Mewtwo's parting words faded into her memory. Needless to say, she hated this. The shade provided little comfort to her (as well as the others, she assumed) but, Nivia thought, at least she had a white pelt that absorbs less heat than her Dark-type brethren. As several of the group began to walk off, Nivia could only sigh. Although she wouldn't heat up as quickly as the others, her legless body isn't going to make this trip easy. She can't walk, after all... But, whoever said she has to? Nobody! Nivia turned to the others still beside her and held out her flipper, preventing them from moving ahead. "Stay behind me, I have a plan to get us out of this heat faster." Then she turned to the ones in front and called, "Hey! Get out of the way unless you want to be turned into a popsicle!" As soon as they heard her, Nivia's small horn emitted a bluish-white beam that ran straight into the ground, freezing up the terrain for a short amount of time. As soon as a small path was created, Nivia began sliding on the said sparkling path, extending it farther and farther into the distance as she slid further away from where Mewtwo had dropped them off. "Come on, slowpokes, before the sun melts it!" she called as she slid by the group.

[Raindrop Valkyrie]

"If you insist Lady Nivia" said Theo as the big bear jumped onto the ice Path. He held tight onto Umbra to make sure she didn't slip form the harness. He skated to gain speed and then glided behind Lady Nivia.

Holy hell, Murdoc. That soundtrack is just perfect

Hot damn. It was just that.
Gale looked around. Hard-packed ground. And a big-ass canyon wall. This wouldn't be fun. He peered around, catching sight of two competing Cubone, uplifted earth where there was likely a Diglett or Dugtrio, Trapinch, Nincada, and a Sandile.
Hoisting his belt up, Gale walked over to a Nincada. But before was within twenty feet of it, it burrowed into a crack in the Earth. "'suppose I didn't want you anyway," he said. The Diglett and/or Dugtrio wouldn't be an option. They were already under the ground. On his left, the Sandile, sharpening its claws, and on the right, the two Cubone continued to fight.
Gale walked left, giving a smug look at the Pokemon. It looked back uncaringly.
"You think you're tough, little guy?" he said, unamused.

They both kept their cool. This Sandile was a tough nut to crack. "Well, good. I could use that," Gale grinned. He threw a rock at the Sandile, clearly angering it. Yet it remained. One more rock should work, he thought. And throw the rock he did. The Sandile was aggravated, crawling towards him. Before he reached Gale though, the Poke Ball hit him, encapsulating him. Click went the ball.

And out went the crocodile. Sandile was thrown out the ball, landing on the ground in its cool, lax manner. "No hard feelings either, bugger. I like that."
Gale returned Sandile, then returned to the group in time to see the Dewgong create an ice runway. She slid down, followed by Pangoro and Deino. Gale still cringed a bit, remembering the showdown on that mountain. Water under the bridge, he supposed. And hoped.
Amarantha wasn't far. "Ready to move out, Ammy?" he asked, holding out his arm.

[Chevaleresse]

The Togepi awkwardly climbed up into the Trainer's arms, trying to burrow her way into his shirt. She wasn't concerned about embarrassing herself at that point, she just wanted to get out of direct sunlight as quickly as possible.

[Arkhi]

Togepi climbed aboard. Though, she used his outer shirt as a shield to the sun, so he'd have to endure the extreme heat with it on. He'd have sighed if Amarantha wasn't there. "Let's roll," he said.
Gale walked back from the runway, then gained momentum and slid on the ice. He called back to Zephyr: "Hurry on up, ma'am! Or shall I walk you along?"

Kenny smiled, and then kept up alongside Nivia by using Aqua Jet, making sure to travel in a Parallell course.

Nivia gave a quick glance at Kenny in the Aqua Jet before focusing back on creating the ice path. It reminded her of a contest combo that she used with a partner Pokemon so long ago. It was effective as a defensive as well as an offensive mechanic. Considering the circumstances they are in, Nivia might as well discuss that strategy with the Dewott. "You know, there is a contest combination that combines Aqua Jet and an Ice type move together. I can make the Pokemon in the Aqua Jet be surrounded by solid ice while you keep going towards the opponent. Not only can it do massive damage if timed correctly, but it can also protect you should the need arise. Perhaps, if you would like, we could practice it in case we encounter another threat."

Kenny spoke to Nivia.

"Yeah, That'd be a great idea, Nivia."

"Very well. We will practice it once we find an adequate place with shade and some soft landing, be it grass or water." Nivia responded, still keeping her focus on creating the ice path set ahead of her. "Despite us being Water types, this heat will still weaken us considerably if we even attempt to practice. That, if Mewtwo is correct, can put us in a bad spot if something hostile decides to show up." With that, she continued sliding side by side with Kenny.

Kenny said nothing, and simply continued using Aqua Jet to travel parallell to the Icy Path.

[Flux]

Blaze stepped tentatively onto the ice path. The heat didn't bother him, but he was worried about Nivia. She seemed fine for the moment though, cruising down her icy path. As he took a final step onto the ice, his legs shot out from underneath him as he landed on his stomach. The momentum from his fall started him moving, and before he knew it, he was spinning down the ice path on his belly, making for quite a comical sight. He could vaguely tell through his increasing dizziness that he was catching up to the others, but he didn't really have much control over himself. He just closed his eyes and put his front legs over his head, trying his best not to get motion sick.

[Raindrop Valkyrie]

Theo reached down, picking up the little Cyndaquil as he slide up big old bear. He held him in his paw after seeing the sight of him spinning down the path the ice path. Theo didn't want him to have to spin like that if he didn't have to. "Maybe I should have grabbed you from the start. Hold tight Master Blaze." Theo said as he tried to pick up speed again.

[Zephyrus the Priestess]

Ice? Ice skating? Great. To add to the list of things she wasn't good at... Having glanced at Gale, she looked away in irritation. "I... uh, I'll be there," she muttered, and tentatively put a step on the ice, hopi-- OH SHIT--

Luckily Chaos was around, and she at least had a bit of telekinetic ability to help balance her Trainer. That and she had climbed onto the big fire mutt, so as not to get her paws cold. "Yeah, the cold from up here is already good." Cerberus rolled his eyes and made sure to tail Zephyr for the Umbreon to be able to guide her.

Already the second time today she'd embarrassed herself. Arceus damn it. After thanking the little cat-dog-fox-bunny of darkness, Zephyr shot Gale a look that pretty much meant "Don't ever bring this up, or I'll rip you a new one" and said, "I'm good, I'm good. Let's catch up to the rest."

[DarkLight]

After what seemed like 10 minutes, Nivia was feeling the strain from maintaining the Ice Beam for so long. The white-bluish orb that was shining brightly on her horn is now growing dimmer and dimmer with each passing second. 'Gah... I can't keep this up for much longer. As much as I hate to admit it, I'm at my limit.' Channeling her remaining bits of strength into her Ice Beam, Nivia blasted a longer ice path in order to give the others time to prepare. "Ladies and gentlemen, prepare for landing! I can't carry you any further than this." she called to the party behind her. Once she reached the end of her slippery pathway, Nivia flopped over to the side to allow the others to get off (and so that she won't get run over by a horde of humans and Pokemon). 'So much for an easy way out. This is so annoying... Now I need to make a Plan B.' she thought as she put her head down on the heated earth, with small cloud of dust billowing around her as she panted.

Kenny saw Nivia stop making the Ice Beam, and continued the Path with an Ice Beam of his own. However, he was forced to stop when this resulted in his accidentally becoming frozen solid within a chunk of Ice due to his Aqua Jet freezing up.

[DarkLight]

"Looks like we need a fire type here!" Nivia announced with no enthusiasm. She remained where she was, however; for one, she didn't want to get run over and two, she's too tired to move. The heat is also not making things easier for her to cool off right away. 'Well, since the others will have to stop now, I might as well go for a Rest to get back up to speed... Actually, no, Aqua Ring will do, just in case something goes amiss. Plus, it's prettier anyway.' Nivia's eyes turned blue as the ground beneath her trembled slightly. Soon, water began gushing upwards and formed itself into rings around the Dewgong's body. Hopefully, by the time things get settled, I'll be back to sliding around again.'

[K_H]

Cracks started to appear on the chunk of Ice, and then Kenny shattered it from the inside with a Water Pulse, causing a spray of ice-cold water and tiny crystals of Ice to fly everywhere, as well as creating a very pretty Prismatic effect as the light refracted and reflected off of the Ice and Water. Kenny then spoke up, his fur completely soaked through.

"Well, that was certainly refreshing, even if it was a bit cold!"

[Zephyrus the Priestess]

Looks like the ride ends here. With the Grace of Umbreon, Zephyr managed to jump off the icy slide without flying into the air, Cerberus carrying Chaos off the ride safely. The gun-chainsawslinger girl looked around. Well then. That carried 'em further into the barren wasteland. The Dewgong did her part well, though running out of ice. Maybe she needed a Max Elixir or something? Or Leppa Berries?

... Where was this, anyway?

"What place in this world has this much sand?" she wondered aloud. "Don't tell me we're in Orre." She reached into her small bag absentmindedly for Berries, pulling out some Leppa Berries and approached the Ice-Water type cautiously. "Er. Hey. Um. Miss Dewgong. Uh. D'you maybe... want some berries?"
