Lord. LORD. THAT LIGHT. ARCEUS TAKE THE WHEEL I'M BLINDED-- oh wait it's gone.

And in place of one landshark stood a bigger, deadlier-looking landshark. Well, schitt. "If somebody get chuck some Toxic Spikes and hazards into the ditches, that'd be nic--" Aaaaand theeeen an Earthquake. The chainsaw-slinger girl turned wildly, desperately trying to keep her balance, only to see Cerberus trying to stand his ground. "Cerberu-- Chaos, Protect him!" The Moonlight Pokemon didn't even need her Trainer to tell her what to do, already putting up an impenetrable barrier around the hellhound and herself. Ground moves were not nice. Ground moves hurt. When the shaking passed, Zephyr wheeled around and glared at the Mega Garchomp. "You bastards think you can get away with hurting them?!" Now they dunnit, and they were gunnageddit. "Pancake, bud, go help out the Sandile with digging. Cerberus, Chaos, fill the trenches with Toxic and come back quickly before they can get too close! Make a Smog cloud with Smokescreen too, Cerb'!"

I'm fine, really-- Zephyr doesn't have to worry so much, thought the Dark-Fire type as he sprinted into action alongside Chaos after Pancake did his part, digging alongside the Dark-Ground type Pokemon. True, the Earthquake shook him, but he was still standing and strong enough to spew toxins and smoke at the dragons. "Betcha they don't like flashing lights, eh, folks?" cried out Chaos, sending out psychedelic orbs of light into the cloud for the oncoming Gabite to have fun with once they got into the ditches.

Blaze stumbled as the ground shook beneath him, struggling to keep his balance. Eventually, his footing slipped and he tubmled across the ground, stopping as he hit Theo's foot. He stood slowly, battered from the sand and rocks. He was trembling as he peeked out at the Garchomp from behind Theo. It had changed forms and was even more intimidating now than it had been before. And to top things off, Nivia was talking about making it hail. He didn't know about the others, but hail hurt when you were small like him. A small whimper escaped his throat as he looked out at the approaching Garchomp, unable to do anything but wait for his own demise.

Throughout the onslaught and through the earthquake, Gale held his ground, searching for Gible & Gabite. After spotting a Gabite that jumped over the moat, Gale threw the ball at it, encapsulating it. The ball rolled over where he was, twitching and vibrating. Just as the ball was about the darken and shown signs of capture, the ball broke open, releasing the Gabite amidst the group. As soon as it popped out, Gale punched it straight across the face, feeling the skin on his hand shred along the knuckles and called out, "Yo! Help me out!!" as he wrestled the Gabite, getting scratched all over. It was like wrestling a spike-covered crocodile. He couldn't restrain it for long and its talon-arms were sure to slice & dice him if he didn't keep his distance.

"Yo! Help me out!!"

Nivia sighed with frustration and turned around to fire off an Ice Beam at the Gabite that is about to rip Gale apart. She could hear the dragon shriek with pain before it was encased in a shell of pure ice. The glistening ice sculpture did relax the Dewgong just a little, as it did remind her of her days as a Contest Pokemon. 'A shame that I cannot admire it at a time like this.' Nivia then turned her attention back to the horde of Gabite and Garchomp. Since nobody but Kenny gave an opinion on her suggested plan, the Dewgong decided to execute her idea. She looked up towards the sky and let out a long, loud cry.

The sky above began to turn grey while the air around them started to chill considerably. Nivia, however, remained unfazed as she fixed her eyes on the landsharks. Soon, small ice balls started rain down upon them. With each passing second, the hail stones were growin bigger and bigger in size; everyone but Nivia should start to feel its harmful effects. Taking advantage of the hailstorm's winds, the Dewgong then released a Blizzard from her mouth, aiming to shut down most, if not all, of those pesky dragons.

A cry sounded as Zephyr fired her leg in a kick towards the Gabite.

Then a torrent of curses followed when her foot made contact with the sudden hard ice. Damn it, this was the third-- fourth? Fifth?-- time today she'd humiliated herself. Frustration wouldn't allow her to admire the beautiful handiwork that the Dewgong made out of the Gabite and she appeared to limp a bit. "Are you freaking kidding me?! That's why you send your Pokemon out to fight them, not you yourself to punch them!" cried the irritated girl, fumbling with the fingerless glove on her right hand and tossing it at the wannabe wrestler for him to use. If Gale had sharp enough eyes, he would've seen a scar draped over her knuckles, an old wound that looked just like the gash he had now. He would've had to look quickly though, as the girl wasted no time in storming off to rap out orders to Chaos and Cerberus. "Chaos! Spread out Light Screen and Reflect as far as you can behind over everyone else! Cerberus, keep the poison coming! Pancake, you make shelters out of Rock Tomb, Slide, and Dig!" All three Pokemon leapt into action, the Umbreon's rings glowing bright blue as she cast protective barriers over the team (could she call them that, though? Considering how the other Pokemon tended to push Gale aside?), stretching it out as much as possible to protect against the hailstorm that the Water-Ice type conjured. The Trapinch piled up boulder after boulder, creating crude little stone towers and turrets that could be climbed into for shelter and backed out of, should the Ground-Dragon army advance some more. Of course, the larger Pokemon such as the Pangoro wouldn't fit inside, but the Dewott at most could enter and fire (water?) from inside.

Kenny used one of his Scalchops like an Umbrella, shielding him from some of the Hailstones. some still managed to hit him, though he tried ignoring the damage. Then, Kenny unleashed a Blizzard of his own towards the Mega-Evolved Garchomp, trying to hit as many of the Gabites as he could while he was at it.

Gale nodded his support towards the Dewgong, calling out his thanks. He echoed the same thanks to the kind, lecturing girl for throwing a fingerless glove that would suit punching the foe. The ice sculpture before him would be perfect to catch, at any rate. He grabbed his final spare Poke Ball and tapped it on the frozen Gabite as it encapsulated the creature, catching it. Of course, he couldn't send it out now; it would be too injured to do any good.

Now that he had what he wanted, it would be time to save the day. So far as none of his companions stopped him, Gale could again wield a gun and provide some covering fire. "Yo, pretty lady! Got any weapons for me?" he shouted over the sound of the crippling horde. As he awaited a response, he kicked a Gible off of Bugger, who looked agitated for once. He seemed to be pulsating, ever so faintly. It was likely that he could evolve after the battle, Gale thought, grinning.

Gale called for a weapon. Resultantly, Zephyr thought immediately oh god not again whilst cringing inside. But looking at the horde-- fleet? School?-- of hungry landsharks, she figured that they'd need all the cover they can get. And again she argued with herself: to defeat-- no, kill the Pokemon that hurt Cerberus, or outright kill more Pokemon just like-- like-- like--

No. The girl shook herself vigorously. She couldn't break now. If she did, maybe Chaos and Cerberus would be more than hurt. But the Hyd-- "Stop it, stop it, stop it," she murmured to herself, hands holding her head as she paced as thought there was no battle going on. The two Dark types took notice of this and exchanged worried looks. Meanwhile, Pancake built and built, unaware of his Trainer's condition, or of anything about her. for that matter.

Some of the dragons cried out in pain as it began to hail. They were silenced (temporarily) by a loud roar and raised scythes from the Garchomp. The clouds dropping the hail were swept from the sky as a harsh wind began to blow. The dry ground was dusty, but it seemed like it was rising up and attacking with a vengeance as the gale tore at it.

Kenny saw the Sandstorm pop up, and smirked, despite the fact that he was taking damage.

let's see them counter THIS!

Kenny then made a ball of water, which he threw high into the sky. All of a sudden, stormclouds started gathering again as the Sandstorm subsided. Then, rain fell from the sky, moistening the ground as it landed, turning the dust into mud. Then, he gathered a blueish white ball of energy and threw it into the clouds, turning the Rain into Hail. As the Hail started to fall, he retreated into the shelter provided by the Castle that was being built by Pancake, speaking to Nivia.

"They're all yours, Nivia! I'll maintain the Weather, and you do the Damage!"

"Much appreciated, Kenny and Chaos! And the boy as well, I guess..." Nivia called back, her mouth twitching into a small smile. It was nice to know that she is appreciated, even if it came from that human boy. As the hail storm rained down on the group once more, Nivia decided to call on another Blizzard to take out the small fries first. This time, instead of using her mouth, she decided to direct some of the freezing winds that the Dewott has kindly provided for her. Her eyes glowed brightly as the snow began to whip around her. "Chill out everyone!" The Dewgong shouted arrogantly with a wave of her rubbery tail. The frosty, ice-laced winds immediately began making their way towards the Gabite and the Mega-Garchomp.

"Ooh, frostburn!" Chaos said, coolly, in an attempt to frustrate the Garchomp from afar. "What, is that all you've got, huh, punks? Earthquake, really? I could Rest through that any day!" When a Gabite that somehow waded through the poisoned trench leapt at her, she merely flashed a toothy grin, baring her fangs and Snarling, just as a dark wave of spine-chilling power slammed into it full force, courtesy of Cerberus. "YEAH, Dark type power!" cried the Moonlight Pokemon, evidently hyped up from the battle and the adrenaline. This time, the Houndoom rolled his eyes at his partner's energetic demeanor. "Yeah, keep that up and you'll frostburn yourself out," he muttered, before raining toxic filth on the nearest wave of Gible and Gabite.

Astounded by the two Dark Pokemon, Pancake attempted to make face in order to stand out, despite the cold that the big, blubbery, frilly Pokemon brought. Personally he hated the cold, but assumed that since the talking tr-- human that caught him didn't order an attack on it. it was probably an ally. So he focused his energies and growl-cried, rearing back on his stubby hind legs, and crashed his front legs into the ground, sending waves of tremors into the ground towards the wave that the Houndoom was attacking, attempting to slow them down further.

And meanwhile Zephyr struggled with herself. The guns themselves had been stowed in their respective holsters ever since they'd moved on from the forested mountains in, what was that again, in whatever that foreign region was. In fact, what with her current state, Gale could probably, if he was fast enough, snatch a gun. Or both. Who knows? Probably. Probably. Her chainsaw as well hung from her shoulders-- Arceus knows how she's been able to hang on to it all this time without suffering major skeletal and muscular damage-- and she might've not ever pointed it at anybody in the group, not even at the young man, but knowing her quick-tempered nature...

  • 1 month later...

Something was wrong. For every dragon the group felled, another seemed to take its place. If they were paying attention, they would see that many of the reinforcements were identical to foes that were already defeated. Before anyone could act on the realization, however, something shifted. A black nothingness seemed to slice through the area for a moment, and then was gone. With it, Gale and Theodore were gone. To where? It wasn't certain. There wasn't time to ponder; the Garchomp began to advance more quickly toward the group. It again forced the weather to a scouring sandstorm as it moved.

Blaze cried out as the blackness slashed through the air, passing right next to him. When he opened his eyes, Theo was nowhere to be seen. He looked forward. The Garchomp was aproaching at a constant speed, unperturbed by the warnings of the group. Blaze ran over to Nivia, panic evident in his voice.

"Theo's... Theo's gone!" he cried out. His little legs were shaking. Theo had seemed so big and strong now, but he had been taken away in an instant.

"Have another one!" Nivia barked as she sent another icy chill (Icy Wind) to slow down the group. As some of the desert dragons fell, more and more seem to replace them, not like she cared though. After all, she could blow down an entire herd of them with just a single breath...

"Theo's... Theo's gone!" She then heard Blaze's small, frail voice beside her front flipper.

"Perhaps he dug underground?" Nivia asked immediately, not disturbed by this news. She figured that Theo would be trying to find a good spot to hide the baby Deino first before he got into the action himself. After delivering a quick Headbutt to Gible attempting to bite her face, Nivia finally glanced behind her to where she last saw Theo. There was no hole that indicated that her huge guardian-comrade was even there...

'Oh shoot.' That was the only thought the Dewgong had before she was forced to whack another Gible with her tail. "Blaze, dear, did you see anything before Theo disappeared? I'm sure he doesn't have the power to Teleport, and I'm quite certain that he wouldn't leave without giving us a proper warning. If so, I am utterly disappointed will make it known the next time I see him." She shook her head as another Gible tried to bite her face once again. Nivia, once more, Headbutted it back into the group. How rude of these pesky things to interrupt a conversation...
