Solace watched the crowd with apprehension. He still wasn't comfortable with the relevation that employers were free to discriminate against Gifted, and now some old man was being assaulted by a crowd. Solace decided he should at least get closer so he could help if anyone got hurt, so he steeled himself and moved closer, trying to slip closer to the front.

"That was... unexpected..." Lucille thought to herself, broken out of her previous train of contemplation when the Woman offered her an recruitment opportunity. "Either things just took a turn for the horrible, or they're working out far better than I could've hoped." Something stopped her from blindly accepting the offer though, it was none other than prudence. While yes, if she were to apply, and actually get accepted, she would be able to find what was really going on, once and for all, not being stuck here to listen to propaganda designed to draw in people like moths to a flame. But on the other hand, it was the Swords party... from the things Leon had been spouting, Lucille knew full well she held no sympathies for their ideals, nor would she likely ever. But on yet another hand, if she accepted, she might get a chance to finally find a way to slap some sense back into her brother... She could act, couldn't she? She didn't necessarily like doing it, constantly lying, but she did do it everyday at the shop, after all, out of necessity. How many people beside their closest employees even knew she was blind? How many people would still take their business seriously if they knew a woman who was completely blind had partial ownership? She might not think that her lack of sight hampered her potential capabilities and competence, but that by no means meant other people wouldn't.

This would just be another bout of necessary Acting. And if she changed her mind, she could always just intentionally flunk the whole thing and go on to look into the Shields or Scales...

"Um...I don't see any reason why_not," She answered Elizabeth finally, maintaining the act she was already putting on. "Very well then, I'd be glad to apply."

The Crowd

Tension was rising amongst the crowd. Most of them were in line with the young woman more than the strangers who had stepped up, but this didn't matter. Why? Because just as the young woman was about to speak, there was a flash of pale green light and suddenly there was a figure standing over the Old man. He was cloaked in pure white and wore an alabaster bandanna over his face, hiding his identity. His eyes were the only things visible, and they didn't waver as the mans sword, removed from it's ostentatious hilt, (Which seemed to be covered in a strange swirling pattern made of... Gold?) swung down and beheaded the old man, cleanly severing his neck. Before anyone could react, there was another flash of light, and the figure was gone. The crowd was in utter shock. They all stared at the dead body, very few of them ever having truly seen one, but those that had immediately noticed that there was not a growing puddle of blood around him, as one would expect...

Lieutenant Timms sighed. He truly hated the "Proper" procedure enforced by the force. It never helped anything, and was quickly discarded for the shorthand that was developed by a good team or partnership. He could really do without it, but he responded with his own salute, acknowledging the man. "Free to speak." He responded rather bluntly.

Stratos

Elizabeth repeated the plastic smile she had been giving all day and handed over another sheet of paper, giving Directions to an addres in the Living Quarter. "Come here and show this note, you shall be lead to an interviewer who shall attend to the process." She decided to add another detail, so as to make sure the workers didn't confuse her with the normal rabble "Tell them you were sent by Elizabeth, Kalisto's Daughter. That'll get you some priority in the system." She flashed a grin once more, satisfied that she had taken the right option, as was natural to he Kalisto family heir.

Upon being acknowledged by Lieutenant Timms, Richard snapped from his strong salute to attention as he took a short breath as he locked eyes with his superior.

"Thank you Lieutenant. I understand that you have a long day ahead of you and prefer to keep things brief, so I will establish my grievances in both a curt and proper manner, sir. If I understand what has just transpired correctly, it means that abomi- ... Gifted are now allowed to have direct influence over the political parties of Trevalus. What most concerns me is backlash of this decision and the possible rise in crime, or worse yet, treason that will follow this day. Specifically, I fear nigh guaranteed growth in power of The Shields," Richard prattled on as his gaze and posture never once budge in the slightest. "With an influx of Gifted surging into the political party which has the most reputation of accepting them. In turn, it will mean that these mons- ... Gifted will be brought under one banner. Being one of the beasts myself, I understand what kind of power and arrogance they are capable of. I foresee the worst case scenario being a Gifted militia forming in an attempt to lead with their cursed power after they grow agitated by the 'free discrimination' compromise. Of course, I am not here expecting you to be able to stop this reformation, but I believe that as an officer charged with protecting the peace of Trevalus, this warning I bear must be headed... With all due respect, sir."

Richard kept his solid steel composure on the outside while facing Lieutenant Timms, but on the inside he was experiencing a turmoil of emotions. With all due respect!? What kind of dog deigns to demand anything from it's master? He must listen, yet he has no reason to. There must be something I can do, some way to establish a proper fail safe and yet not give in to my arrogant nature as a Gifted... I cannot falter!

Solace saw a flash and heard a wave of shock ripple through the crowd. He backed off a bit, to let anyone who wanted to escape the scene, but continued to search for a spot to slip through the crowd. Someone had probably just gotten hurt, and he wanted to be there to help. He moved back and forth, clearly frustrated by his inability to find a path.

"As a lieutenant recognised by The Scales party, leaders of the city of Trevalus, my next actions have been deemed within my authority in my position as representative of the Scales. Learn some respect for others Officer" And with the little speech to cover his ass ((What has been said in the spaces has been recorded)) Lieutenant Timms used his bulk to plant a solid fist squarely in the middle of Richards face, sending him sprawling to the floor.

Murdoc

Most of the crowd was still stunned and were easy to move out of the way, mindlessly stepping aside for those who tried to get to the front.

Reyn was shocked to see a white figure decapitate the old man who was right by him. He sighed and went down and closed his eye lids. "This man is now dead, like you all wished," Ryen said angrily, "Hope you can enjoy it." He then stood back up and walked out of the circle and away from the school, seeing no point in staying any longer. 'Man, you try to save one guy but you end up with blood anyways.' Ryen thought to himself, 'Though at least one other man was smart enough not to kill' As he walked away the olny thing he felt was disgust for the group of people over by the school.

On his way out the door Seth shouted to the man with a smirk "I wish you luck with whatever you pick, Ill head out to where I belong, steal some scraps and find it even harder to find any work." Seth felt a hint of envy for students of the school and strangely genuinely hoped for the best for the strange man.

A wall of thick roots sprouted underneath Desmond's feet as he protect himself from the attacker. Desmond just stood there and stares blankly at headless man. looks like we have a vigilante, a very fast vigilante to be precise.Desmond idly stands in the middle of the incident, utterly horrified on what just happen.

Solace moved through the group of people, quickly reaching the center and discovering what the commotion had been about. An old man in armor laid on the ground with a distinct gap between his head and his torso. He reeled for a moment after being confronted with death so suddenly, but quickly recovered. He had watched people die before, though not so violently as this appeared. One man stood unmoving near the corpse while the other walked off. He looked askance at him, trying to discern what, exactly, had happened.

Richard laid there for a moment, unable to fully comprehend what had just occurred. What... I was certain my fears were not unfounded... I am... I cannot falter! Not yet! After regaining his vision once more, Richard used all the force he could muster to stand once more in attention, staggering a decent bit on his way up, and lock eyes once more with Lieutenant Timms. His nose must have been bleeding, however he didn't have time to address it as he was still in the presence of a commanding officer that he had just offended.

"I apologize for being out of line, Lieutenant Timms! I forgot my place as not only a mere Patrol Officer, but also as a putrid Gifted addressing a pure human!," Stated Richard in an attempt to rectify his poorly chosen words earlier.

Richard's thoughts were trying to work on overtime to muster up a plan of action; a possible way for him to gain the piece of mind he desperately needs. Think, you mewling worm! There must be a way to combat the coming Gifted threat. A way that perhaps Lieutenant Timms may accept. Something he could do... Something... During this brief pause, Richard's eyes eventually, almost visibly, flashed with inspiration.

"Sir! With every fiber of my being, I know for certain what my damned kin are capable of. If left unchecked, they will viciously defile everything Trevalus stands for! While I may be a lowly dog like them, in spite of that, no, because of that, I am your most efficient tool to be used against them. Which is why I must ask, nay, I must beg for you to consider this proposal of mine!" Richard pleaded with as much conviction as he could muster. "As a Gifted hound of The Living Quarter Police Department, and as someone who specializes in neutralizing Gifted who believe themselves outside of the laws that The Scales enforce, I formally request permission to train and domesticate the recruited Gifted into beasts robbed of their ambitions! I would see to it that they are monsters that would respect the pure human authority of command!"

Richard stood firm and awaited the response of Lieutenant Timms. My arrogance! My pride! No matter how much I attempt to eliminate them, my very nature as a bastard Gifted prevents me from growing above them! I cannot falter! I CANNOT FALTER!

Lucille stood there for a moment, pondering the repercussions of the choice she had just made one more time. "Remember... I can always fail intentionally if I need to..." "T-thank you," she stammered, accepting the slip of paper. "I'll be sure to do that." and with that she turned and exited the boundaries of the ward, heading back towards Elemus where he stood like an apathetic statue of sorts. He spotted the slip of paper the moment Lucille got close.

"Didn't you yourself say before heading off that the point was to "Scout" them, not join?"

"I haven't been chosen, Lucille corrected him, holding up the slip to where the Mouse was hiding and reading the text through it's sight. She wasn't familiar with it, then again though, she had never had much reason to go traipsing around the Living Quarter... Elemus on the other hand, well, she had proof that he did.

"Here," the young woman said, shoving the slip into the Hunter's hand, closing his fingers around it. "I'm sure you know this address, for one reason or another, if you'd be so kind as to guide me there..."

"You're enjoying this, aren't you, girl?" he said, reading the paper over... he knew exactly where it was, passed by it often when going about his illegal affairs, in fact. "Lucky guess," he admitted, before following with. "But this will cost you fifty percent more, seeing as you've already drawn out this charade."

"Get me there and back alive and well, and I'll double what I told you this morning." That was all the man wanted to hear. He turned and started walking out of the Assembly hall, electing to not bother taking the girl by the arm this time given her...tag along guest. If she could see now, then she should be more than capable enough of finding her own way without being led by the hand like a child. Lucille followed not far behind him, the mouse coming out of it's hiding place and retaking it's perch on her shoulder. She'd release it if she found something more suitable to take Theo's place, but for now it would just have to do...

((I'll leave it up to you what happens now, Sergeant Dobbs. I don't really know exactly what the situatin with the crowd currently is, what with that sudden beheading and all...))

"Hey man, don't look at me like that, its not what you think, i'm just surprise as you are." Desmond said as he briefly looks at man that's giving him the stink eye. "Some random cloaked guy just bluntly chop this fear-mongering geezer's head off with a freaking sword, the killer came in a flash and was fast as lightning and seems to know exactly what's he's doing." Desmond explain himself as he continues to stare at the headless body. Obviously still shaken from the incident as he barely budge from his position.

Solace looked back and forth between the body and the man standing there for a moment. However, something caught his eye; more precisely, someone, through another gap in the crowd. He followed him through the gap, walking quickly enough to catch up to him, and pulled on his sleeve to get his attention.

Emelia turned around a minute still wearing her mask to see a fight break out between the officer and the lieutenant. Dumbass she thought to herself before continuing her way towards the barracks. She thought she saw a crowd nearby, but it was best to avoid that kind of trouble as of right now. Hmm...Police or ICF. I guess I'll see if they'll let a cop run around with a couple of swords before jumping to the ICF.

As Reyn was trying to leave the crowd he felt something tugging on his sleeve. As he looked back he saw a man grabbing his arm. 'Oh look more "fun" today...' Reyn thought to himself as he stood there with that man still holding on. "Eh? You need something?" He asked the man still grabbing onto his arm "Kuz if not I'm going to ask you to let go, please."

"If you're wondering what happened to that man," Ryen pointed to the dead man in the middle of the group, "He was killed, obviously, but I don't know who did it." He then put him hands in his pockets, "Only that the perpetrator wore a white cloak and he either moves fast or vanishes. That's all I know about that, now is there anything else you may want to ask before I take my leave?"

Solace thought for a moment. He couldn't think of any reason that the man would know any more, so he shrugged and turned to walk away. The young man headed toward the gates, deciding that he did want to get involved in the politics of the city and try to improve the conditions in the Living Quarter. He sighed heavily, though. He hated the fact that he was probably out of a job now. It was hard enough for him to find work for the time being, so he usually got by on charity from the hospitals and clinics he helped out. They usually didn't mind if he curled up on an unused bed or ate a small meal, but he didn't want to take things that should have really been going to the sick and injured. Unless they thought of HIM as sick. . .

Timms sighed. "That's not what I meant you damn fool" He then steeped towards Richard, gabbed the man by the scruff of his neck and top of his trousers and lifted him up, only to bring him crashing down again. "You stand inside the stronghold of the Gifted, a group of people who have done nothing to history's knowledge but try and help society or hinder it by breaking it's laws, the same as any group of people. You act as though they wish to bring apocalypse on us all. I do not abide prejudice of this sort, and so help me if you continue with this, I'll have your ass booted from whatever unit you're in faster than a Gifted could piss off the Swords. Understood?"

The Crowd

Eventually the crowd recovered from it's shock. Once more it was the woman who spoke up, after they all examined the body. "What the fuck, this man isn't a man, he's a bloody Golem, made of fucking wood!" She cried, loud enough for all present to hear, including Reyn.

((I couldn't make this more of a reason to investigate without violence.))

Solace stopped. A golem? Why would a golem be here, why was it upsetting people, what had it said... there were so many questions. Solace turned and headed back to the crowd, and reluctantly spoke up. In a quiet, high voice, he asked the angry woman a question. "What was he saying?"

Everything went dark for a brief moment as Richard slipped in and out of consciousness. It was then that he truly felt the blood leaking from his nose as it slightly pooled along his face. I cannot... Richard slowly shuffled his left arm over to his right to help stabilize his rise. Instead of getting on his feet once more, he started to shuffle into a position akin to "taking a knee" though with the occasional difficulty of his right arm almost giving out multiple times. After assuming this position, he simply stared at the small smear of blood upon the stone floor. I have... Richard immediately stiffened his frame as his head continued to droop in abject shame.

"F-faltered... ," Sputtered out Richard as he caught a cough in his throat. "I understand, Lieutenant... Timms. I have... shamed The Scales with... With my insubordination."

Richard caught another cough as he tasted the metallic liquid of his life's blood in his mouth. He eventually swallowed so he could continue his apology, feeling what might've been part of a tooth slide down his esophagus.

"I... I beg your forgiveness for my... Weakness in your presence, sir. I will... Make myself scarce shortly. First I need... I need something to clean this mess... From the School floor," Hacked out Richard in between attempted swallowing of blood. "I already stain... These grounds with my shame... Let me not stain it with... My ichor as well."

Desmond gets his shit together and extend his hand just to make sure its 100% made of pure wood, the wooden golem reacted at Desmond's gift as slightly trembles "Yup, its wood all right." Desmond release his control over the lumber. Dammit! i was freaking upset over a piece of lumber.. but even so, could that white cloak assassin know that this guy is a wooden construct? maybe he got lucky, maybe he knows.. either way Desmond was glad its not a real person.

Timms just looked at the man. "A stain of shame is not necessarily a bad thing. It is a marker of learning, in a way. You will leave it, if you want to clean up, do it later. Now, is there anything else to discuss, or shall we end this discussion.

The Crowd

Abigail, the woman who had been speaking up, noticed the dainty voice, and subconsciously lowered her own voice. "The thing was ranting and raving about how the city was going to shit, trying to scare us all. We weren't about to let him do that when a couple of men interfered" She gestured to Desmond. "Then, some figure clad in white appeared and took off this Golems head. Look, there's no blood, despite the fact that he is missing his head, and you can see the inside, where muscle would be is wooden... This was a damn plot, some prick did thisto scare us shitless!" She rared once more. "Are we gonna let them get away with this?!" She roared, rallying the crowd once more.

Annie

A voice came from behind Cara, barely more than a whisper on the wind, but easily heard. "Did you enjoy that little display...?"

Snap

Nigel had been waiting for the girls response, but she had not done so for quite a while. "Er, are you okay..?" He ventured.

Thomas backed away from the crowd, deep in thought. This was an irregular event that he has never seen before.

Is there a particular reason to send the school in such disarray? And if so... why? Either way, the first step will be to find the man cloaked in white, and how he did so... he definitely did something when those flashes of light appeared, so it's most likely a trick of some sort. Either way, The Scales and The Shield will not like this.

Thomas was a school student that had sided with The Scales without hesitation. However, he had kept his identity hidden with a mask when joining. His real identity was unknown to anyone this way, so he could walk around fairly freely as long as he didn't reveal much too personal information. Furthermore, because he didn't socialize, people didn't question him, which was useful. Of course, it's still too early to be careless, and he knew this.
