Professor Layton: Pokemon Master
Oh my where to begin, so i'd like to talk about a little anime Called: Seto no Hanayome or My bride is a Mermaid Now don't let the title fool you, because a lot of people will hear the title and immediately dismiss it as a very dirty anime for some reason, and while it has its share of less then wholesome moments that is not the main draw of the show. The main draw of the show is that it is the lovely blend of nonsense, strange characters, and genuinely touching moments that turn this into the greatest romantic comedy i have ever watched since ranma 1/2. The main character Nagasumi, is vacationing with his parents by the sea, when Nagasumi gets pulled in ot he ocean and begins to drown. He is then rescued by a mermaid named Sun Seto and is later informed by Sun's family, (Who are Mermaid Yakuza) that one of them will have to die to keep the secret of mermaid existence safe. But Sun's mother devises the solution that if the two were to get married that no one would have to die since the secret would stay within the family. And so hilarity ensues. I have a little thing that I've actually been saying to people when i describe this anime so lets say it here to, Ah hem. If you like, Mermaids, Pop stars, monkeys, astronauts, Giant monster battles, Real manly men, Suave black teachers, Amazonian lesbians, Street fighter, or just any damn good comedy series, then there is absolutely no reason to check this anime out. If your still interested try checking out the opening. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnZ4ucgdCp0 And know this comes with the Taro anime seal of approval for excellence, seriously people check this one out. ------------------------------------------------ Ok so im too hyped to slow down, lets keep this train a rollin, i have a list people i could do this all weekend. Ok so next up is another little known gem called: Sekirei! Ok so remember how in My bride is a mermaid i said the show wasn't nearly as dirty as the title made it sound. well this one is like the poler opposite, while one again it is not the main crux of the show, its like the number two thing that this anime does. and as pervy as this may sound, god damn does it do it right! So Sekirei tells the story of, Minato Sahashi, a young man with no job and the status of Ronin (meaning he has failed his college entrance exams, who one day stumbles upon a young girl Named Musubi being attacked by two twins who can control lightening, he brings her home and she explains that she is a Sekirei (think test tube alien) And she is looking for the person who will be her Ashikabi (Think her owner), She pretty much figures its him (in a process i will explain shortly) and becomes his sekirei, and he is thrust into the Sekirei plan, (think full on last man standing Battle Royale) Ok, so what makes this little anime great is that it is by far, on of the funniest, must perverted action series i have seen in a long time. I was literally laughing out loud on every episode and was so entertained i had no choice but to finish the entire first season in one sitting. But Taro you may ask, Is the show really that perverted? And to you i say yes it is, let me give a prime example. So each Sekirei roams free until she/he finds her Ashikabi, and they can tell who they are drawn to the most by a sensation that is pretty much orgasm. And in order to "wing" a sekirei, the person has to kiss them, lets combine that with the fact that this anime only goes like one episode in the first season with out showing full on uncensored chesticles, the fact that all the main characters sekireis (he gets 6 in total) all want to bang him (except for the male one), and im serios about that, they all want to bang him. The one unfortunate part is that despite being an "Action" series the anime doesnt really get very action heavy until the second season, which as of now is still only in subtitles. But all in all Sekirei combines hilarious anime antics and a plot that while not super interesting or engaging (at least in the first season) keeps you wanting to go through it and you have a really funny anime that any fan of large breasts and comedy can enjoy. Still not convinced then check out the links! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmGnsBBcxVk It should be noted that the entire first episode of the second season can be found on you tube provided by the wonderful folks at funimation, but it isnt exactly work safe so i thought it best to not post it here. Administrators Ikaru Posted April 23, 2011 Administrators Share Posted April 23, 2011
inb4 Ikaru: KATEKYO HITMAN REBORN FTW!
DO YOU THINK THAT WILL STOP ME? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA But no, seriously, I 100% am behind that statement. Reborn! is the reason I even joined you guys in the first place, only to find out I was wrong ;~; But I stayed anyway. <3 Seriously, watch it. I know it's long, but that aside there is no excuse not to. The first season starts off rather slow, but introduces pretty much every major character in Tsuna's family (except for one...) so it's not much... Along comes the second arc and oh boy. Awesomeness begins. This is my number one suggestion, even if nobody has the attention span to watch it. The manga went on for a long while after the anime ended, too haha, um. long series. Still, I love it <3 [s]but of course nobody's surprised.[/s] Second! Another long one, but it's exactly half as long as Reborn!, so maybe more tolerable. I was forced into watching D.Gray-man by a friend; I don't regret it, but blehhh. When the anime is about halfway finished, it stopped being dubbed, and this is one of the few cases where I preferred the english voice actors to the original. Allen sounded much more like an annoying little kid in the sub... Still, that aside, a great anime- ... and manga, now that I think about it. The anime stopped but the manga is still going; read and watch if you want~ _____________________________________ Now for the short ones that people might be able to put up with. Black Cat. 24 episodes. This one isn't long at all so if you don't watch it, I'd love to hear your POORLY FORMED EXCUSE. Just kidding. But really, it's pretty sweet for how short it is. I quote one of my friends: "Episode 6 had me cry." I watched this On Demand over several weeks, and with On Demand comes the dubbed version... Maybe better subbed, who knows. Find out and tell me!~ If you're interested in the stories of any of these or actually watching them, you can look it up. I'd rather not text wall everyone with several paragraphs. A special note about Black Cat however: The manga is severely different from the anime. I don't know how or why, but it is. I've only watched half of this series, due to On Demand with Comcast being a [s]failure[/s] jerk and stopping at the 26th episode... Supposedly it gets much darker afterwards; I wish I could force myself to remember to watch it someday. Maybe they pulled a D.Gray-man and stopped because the rest of it was never translated? I dunno. Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle. Watch / Read it. [s]Continuing the trend of animes I've only watched half of...[/s] [s]Code Geass! It's like Gundam but stupider/cooler depending on your opinion~ Two seasons, R1 and R2... I made it to like episode 22 of R1 before On Demand became a fail and stopped showing it. I should try harder, eh?[/s] This is all a lie, I've since finished and recommend this even harder. Now for one that Taro may or may not be interested in, given his last two... And probably an anime you'd never expect from me << >> I blame On Demand for this one too. Don't question it. Despite how it looks there's really nothing wrong with it. It's got... 24 episodes, maybe 26? I forget. There IS a story present, and guns and even a giant mech in some episodes! : O But yeah, that's everything that comes to mind outside of the standard "NARUTO BLEACH DEATH NOTE LOLOLOL" [s]and i havent even watched Death Note and don't keep up with Bleach or Naruto[/s]
Godot
hmm fancy pictures >> i am kinda ol' skool, i like Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo Bebop is about a group of bounty hunters who somehow get by with bounties they carry out, alot of episodes are based off of classic rock n roll and jazz. it takes place in a futuristic 70s/80s enviornment. Bebop is sometimes considered one of the best animes of all time! Champloo is about 3 very different people who are traveling together to find the girl in the picture's father, it takes place in historical japan and has some themes of hip hop and classical music one of my fav anime/mangas (which is good in both!!!) is History's Stongest Deciple Kenichi! its got EVERYTHING you could want in a anime/manga, Comedy, Great artwork, Action, Good Writing, Amazing Story, Lovable and Unique Characters, and ECHI!!! Kenichi is about a young highschool student who gets involved in martial arts to become stronger to protect himself and others (and potentially get closer to the blonde chick in the picture), its a little cliche but really damn good also another series i love ( and is currently only available in Manga) is Gimmick! (not to be conused with Hot Gimmick!) Its not the Best manga in the world, but it is one of my favs of all time!!! its not to popular cause it is based off of american culture. Its about a guy who is a proffessional Special Effects artist who is intellegent but loves getting into trouble, the chapters in the series reference off of classic american films such as the God Father, The Sound of Music, and Friday the 13th ha ha interesting batch to chose from aint it
Professor Layton: Pokemon Master
For those of you who haven't seen Kenichi, please listen to Dominus and go check it out, it really is an awesome anime series, and its one that i kinda watch now to get me out of a funk because it's really kinda inspiring, and even more entertaining, you owe it to yourself to see it. Professor Layton: Pokemon Master
Since my last post's got merged idk whether to make this separate but F it they'll fix it if it really needs to, so next I'm going to talk about the series that got me into manga and anime to begin with! Presenting the one and only the Classic amoung classics! RANMA 1/2!: Now before i continue let me make it clear i am advocating for the Manga, not the anime, since he Manga is leaps and bounds superior. Now im actually really surprised how many people haven't heard of this one considering it is by "The master of the Female form" Rumiko Takahashi, the creator of the very popular Inuyasha Now you guys heared me mention Ranma a little in my mermaid review but let me give you the quick lowdown. Ranma Saotome, the kid with the black hair and ponytail, has been arranged to marry, Akane Tendo, the young girl next to him, so that they can both Carry on the Martial arts school of the "Anything Goes" Fighting technique. But the couple have problems coming right out the gate as neither one of them can stand the other, and the tiny fact that any time Ranma is splashed with cold water his body transforms into a redheaded young woman! The rest of the series follows the developing relationship between Ranma, Akane, and the 50 or so characters that that they encounter from episode to episode, as well as Ranma's continued efforts to remove his Curse. Now what always made this series for me is the overwhelming cast of support characters each with their own very, very distinct personality, be it Ranma's persistant rival Ryoga, who was born with the worlds worst sense of direction, Happosai, the lecherous old Kung Fu master, who was also the teacher of both Ranma's, and Akane's fathers. Moose, the legally blind master of trap based Kung-Fu, or the school principal, who returns from Hawaii bent on shaving the head of every student in his school. That and it is probaby the longest series i have ever read given that there are 36 whole volumes. In the end, if your a fan of comedy of any kind, Ranma is a must go for all manga enthusiasts. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ok so next up i'm going to refer to some little known gems that were introduced to me by my schools anime club, so lets start with Nerima Daikon Brother's Its a short 12 episode anime, and is funny as all sin. So the story follows Singing group Nerima Daikon Brothers, which consists of Hideki(Middle), Ichiro(Right), and Mako(Left), as they try to obtain enough money to build a stadium and become rock superstars. Now it should be immidiatly stated that this is a musical folks, each episode contains a minimum six songs, but while each song is not unique, each song is always entertaining and becomes inherently catchy by episode 3, the show is also a prime example of Nonsense anime as very little seems to make sense but all kinda works, like how in episode 2 Hideki and Ichiro are being boiled and turned into kimchi, but Pandaikon (the panda) comes to rescue them and unintentionally arouses Ichiro, causing them to absorb the Kimchi which "Gives them the powers of a god". After that its kinda hard to review so im leave a few links and let you guys decide for youreself, but trust me it is worth it 100% http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5FGsoEoNJA&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiW8MZi8MbA&feature=related ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok last when for the next few hours, So im going to get really serious with this one. THe next anime is called: Now and Then, Here and There And is by far the most dramatic Animes i have ever seen, The story Follows Shu, A young boy who returns from his Kendo Practice and failed attempt to ask a girl out to find a young girl sitting atop a large piece of construction, he joins her and the two stare into the sunset. All in all a pretty normal, light hearted opening, But soon Shu is transported to Thousands of years into the future where water is a scarce commodity, and the end of the world, has pretty much already happened. I honestly don't to talk to much for fear of taking away some of the Impact that this show creates, but lets just say that the show deals heavily in the such subjects as War, Child soldiers, Rape, and the depths of which a person can fall into madness. The show is absolutely heart wrenching, and invokes some of the most serious thought that i have ever seen an anime produce. I know i talk about alot of comedies on this thread, and many people dont do comedies, but if you in anyway like Drama, then Now and then Here and there, will in no way shape or form disappoint you, as it is one of the finest examples of How far the Human spirit will go to survive, or to hold onto its beliefs. SAYA COULD NOT WATCH THIS ANIME!
Developers Voctrode Posted April 24, 2011 Developers Share Posted April 24, 2011 Not exactly suggesting anything here, anything I would is already here, afterall. Just nitpicking at something. I like how Ikaru is noted as the Reborn superfanatic here. It's funny, really << >> I admit, yes, Inuki does deserve the Reborn credit. But so long as one of us suggested it, I see no problem. <3 ~Ikaru
Neo
Grandchild of Nurarihyon is possibly some of the best anime I've ever seen (well besides Fooly Cooly). The show follows the life of the Nura clan. The main character Rikuo Nura is half human and half yokai. His grandfather run a group of demons known as his "Night Parade" At night he turns into his demon form that his grandfather once was. He fights evil yokai and while collecting demons for his "Night Parade".
Administrators Amethyst Posted April 24, 2011 Administrators Share Posted April 24, 2011 Anyone who knows me will not be surprised. Rozen Maiden
When it comes to shows that have changed my life, this takes the strawberry-topped cake. Looking back, I realize how much of who I am today resulted from my falling in love with this- even if it was technically never finished... *stabs self* Anyway, the story features Jun, who becomes bonded to one of the Rozen Maiden dolls- seven sisters who must fight each other to "become Alice," the perfect girl. Only Alice can meet their father- the dolls' creator, whom they all strive for.
Pandora Hearts
[img]http://download.minitokyo.net/Pandora.Hearts.412520.jpg[/img] Another one right up my alley- similar to Rozen Maiden in style, though much less influential. The only blemish on Oz Vesallius' otherwise ideal life is the scorn of his vanished father. This is true, until his coming of age ceremony, wherein he is cast into a legendary prison known as the Abyss. There he meets Alice, the Black Blood-stained Rabbit, who forms a contract with him to find her missing memories and the truth of Oz's imprisonment.
Wolf's Rain
Wolfie has to like the wolf show, right? Shh. In a future where the world is on its last legs, Wolves, thought to be extinct, have adapted to live hidden among humans. It is said that only wolves can find the paradise at Armageddon . This is the story of the final moments, the chase of four wolves at the end of the world.
SaiKano (The Last Love Song On This Little Planet)
This show is overdramatic, and more sappy than a forest of maple trees. And if you played a drinking game on every time a character apologized for something, you would probably die. In spite of that, and perhaps out of personal relevance, I love this show, and the catharsis of its final moments each time I see it. Chise and Shuuji have only just begun dating- when the Japanese Government steals her, and coverts her into the latest model of their newest weapon- and the last hope in winning the on-going war. Saishu Heiki Kanojo, or She, The Ultimate Weapon, tells the story not so much of the war, but of Chise, and her struggles to keep her relationship together- as well as the lives of those around her- in the tragedy of WWIII
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Until the second season, and the producers' bold murder of Endless Eight, the show was a classic. Regrettable its fall, but the original remains one of the most unique anime experiences in the current library. Haruhi Suzumiya addresses the class on the first day- Something to the effect of, "I'm not interested in normal humans. Aliens, time travellers, espers... If you're anything like that, THEN we'll talk." Quote horribly incorrect, I'm sure, but point made. She seeks adventure and mystery in everything she does- eventually forming the SOS Brigade, a school club to hunt out such things- along with her victim, and the dissenting protagonist, Kyon. Will
Just naming off what I saw back when I actually watched anime and whatnot... Stein
adkhgldhflkjal Serious I guess. High School of the Dead

Fanservice anyone? [x]Boob jiggles [x]Panty shots [x]Erotic situations [x]Nosebleeds [x]you get the idea =u= This anime starts as a normal day at high school but soon turns ugly as a teacher is attacked by a strange man at the gate of the school. He gets bitten and oh did I mention this is a zombie anime? So one teacher turns zombie and bites another, all in all mayhem breaks loose and [s]slowly but surely[/s] QUICKLY 80%+ the student population is turned into zombies. Only Takashi Komuro, Rei Miyamoto, Saeko Busujima, Saya Takagi, and Kohta Hirano; Shizuka Marikawa, and the high school gigantic boobed nurse Shizuka Marikawa are introduced as the remaining normal people and the beginning episodes is about them escaping the zombie infested school. The whole anime is really just them facing zombies while looking as sexy as possible (not that they're thinking about looking sexy they just kinda are). SO if you like fanservice and zombies put together ding ding ding we have a winner! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now for something completely different << >> Darker than Black

This was one of the first anime's I watched when Taro gave me Netflix. Why? It looked cool. [s]Theguylookedhawt.[/s] I actually watched this anime's first season and it wasn't that bad. I found myself re-watching at my friends house. ANYWAY. Now where to start.
Ten years ago, an inscrutable and abnormal territory known as Hell's Gate appeared in Tokyo, altering the sky and wreaking havoc on the landscape. The real stars disappeared, replaced by false stars. During this time, people possessing various special abilities emerged, each capable of different supernatural feats - these are known as Contractors. Each fake star has a corresponding Contractor, which reacts to their activities. Kept secret from the masses, these individuals are known to murder in cold blood, smothering unnecessary emotions with logic and rationale. Their incredible abilities, however, are gained at the cost of their humanity - Contractors are thus named because of an involuntary compulsion to "pay the price" each time their power is used, which can range from eating particular foods and completing meaningless tasks, to self-harm and having their bodies change in peculiar ways. Various nations and organizations around the world train and utilize Contractors as spies and assassins, resulting in violent battles for valuable objects and information. Following the disastrous Heaven's War, the United States lost its dominant position as a superpower to a mysterious organization named the Syndicate. The story revolves around a Chinese contractor codenamed Hei as he undertakes various espionage and assassination missions in Tokyo under the direction of the aforementioned Syndicate.
This anime has is kinda serious, people die and people get beaten and in the end you don't know who the true villain is. Who's in the right and who's in the wrong. I highly recommend watching at least the first two episodes to see if it catches your interest. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I would say Taro is fail but then again he hasn't watched the whole series! Soul Eater

Love Soul Eater. It's a nice little comedic actiony anime. This anime I believe does multiple main characters justice. If you see the poster, all those people are main characters. I don't think they truly focus on just one character maybe Maka a little bit more but other wise there are episodes that sometimes just involves the "set" of characters. I say set because well this anime is also supernatural. Four people in that poster aren't just people they're weapons! Soul Eater is an anime that takes place in where else but Nevada USA in the fictional Death City. Death City is a town where only certain people can see it and live in it. Inside Death City is the D.W.M.A (Death Weapon Meister Academy) where only people capable of being meisters or weapons my attend. This story follows mainly 3 meisters(Death the Kidd, Maka Albarn, Black*Star) and their weapon(s)(Liz and Patty, Soul, and Tsubaki) as they try to collect 99 evil souls and 1 witch soul so that they're weapon may become a death scythe, the most powerful their weapon can get. Through their twists and turns and run ins with Excalibur, evil witches, and rivals. This anime is a must watch.
Professor Layton: Pokemon Master
Ok, now that some people have gone i figure its time for some more reviews. First, one of my favorite animes Ever, Im talking about the great mystery classic Detective Conan, Case closed. Most people have heard about this one sure but i never miss out on an opportunity to advocate for this classic. The story revolves around Ace Detective Jimmy Kudo, who after witnessing some shady deals by some characters in black clothing, is knocked out and fed an experimental poison, that instead of killing him reverts his body to that of a 7 year old. He adopts the Pseudonym Conan Edogawa, and takes up residence in the home of his best Friend Rachel Moore, daughter of failed detective Richard Moore. There he uses his powers of deduction to solve all of the cases that Richard receives in secret as he searches for the men in black to try to return his body to normal. The show and Manga have been going on since 96 and 94 respectively. And at this point holds the record for the 6th longest anime in existence. Each episode while not having a deep story line usually has an interesting way in which the killer or whatever executed the crime. The stories unfortunately become more and more predictable as time goes on but, we are normally saved by the best parts of the series being the multi-part episodes. Each multi-part episode is always engaging and genuinely thought provoking and really pulls you in to the detective atmosphere. Id recommend either the manga or the anime as either of them are worth your time provided it will probably the longest time investment of your anime life if you decide to check out the entire thing. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Next we have Azumanga Daioh One of the best slice of life Animes i have ever seen Azumanga follows the day to day life of six girls and the wacky adventures the get into. There isn't much to really say because of the fact that it is a slice of life anime and therefore follows a plot-line that doesn't exist, but let me say this for it, Azumanga is in my top three slice of life anime list(the other two being school rumble and Lucky Star), but also having said that it is also number three, And its one of those things where i cant exactly explain why. It's kinda like the road where lucky star and school rumble meet. School rumble was great because it is so over the top and outrageous that it just immediatly draws you in with its abstractness, and lucky star is so "Real" that it makes relating to the show alot easier. Azumanga is just a little of both, It has realer situations then SR, but there so strangley executed sometimes due to some characters such as Osaka or Mr. Kimura. Really its one to check out if you: -Like slice of life. -Liked either school rumble or lucky star. -didn't like lucky star for being to "Real" or didn't like school rumble for being to silly. -or just wanna check out an anime that while not the best around of its kind is defiantly still a fantastic anime ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ And now to end with a manga. So today i will talk about Battle Royale The king of psychological Horror manga Battle Royale tells the story of a class of Japanese 9th graders taken to a remote island where they are told to kill one another until only one of them remains. What comes next is some of the most grisly horror i have ever witnessed in any medium. What makes Battle Royale so great is the sheer psychology behind it, each character has ther own motivation for why they choose to participate or not and the degree in which they do. some characters dont want anything to do with it, others choose survival, others are nothing but purely psychotic, and the Main antagonist of the series, decides whether or not he will participate with nothing but a coin flip. The main character is Shuya Nakahara, and he spends most of the series surviving for no reason but to keep the girl that both him and his best friend had a crush on. And his evolution in the series is on of the greatest in mangas of recent years. The series started as a book, then evolved into a manga then finally went to bed as a two movies. (the second one having a story that is not in the book or manga) and out of all of these id have to recommned the manga first, because of the level of artistic detail in each gruesomely horrific death. After that id recommend the book and finally the movie. In the end if you love Psycholgical horror, Sickening violence, or just damn, damn, good storytelling. check this manga out for sure. Professor Layton: Pokemon Master
<< >> (inside Taro's head) No anime posted for almost a week. must fix this. Ok so lets talk about one i mentioned in my last review block School rumble So i talked about this one back in the azumanga Review and in my top list three its kinda in this eternal struggle between lucky star for number 1. And the reason is that its this beautiful mix of a slice of life anime, and a nonsense anime, in that its showing the day to day life of the charaters in a realistic way, but then there are also teribbly unrealistic elements. Before i get into detail with that let me talk about some of the characters, Your main character is Tenma, The girl with the two little thin side pigtails, and she is in love with Kurasama, The kid with the bowl cut, However Harima, The black guy with the shades, is in love with Tenma, and hilarity ensues as Tenma and Harima try to get the person they love to notice them (The fact that both Harima and Tenma Are dumber then dirt doesn't help either). So now we come to the meat of the series being the overall insanity that comes with the whole premise, Harima in particular will go to any length to get Tenma to notice him, Even going so far as to stand on a plank on top of a skyscraper dressed like a peacock .-., As the Show evolves even more crazy love triangles are created, and the show is an absolute blast to watch, most of the nonsense comes from Harima's Character as Tenma's efforts to get the Affection of Kurasama are a little more believeable, like cooking him lunch everyday, or writing him a love letter. Each episode usually involve three stories based around a central idea, like on the epsiode where the go to the beach, one part is the trip over, the next is Harima being discovered naked in the room by one of the girls, and the last is teaching all the girls how to swim. Honestly i cant really see a reason not to check this anime out unless you just arent in to comedy at all. Like honestly people that is your ONLY EXCUSE! GO CHECK THIS ONE OUT!!! Need more convincing? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5QmI-WNfYY ____________________________________________________________________________________ So i guess i might as well talk about this one too Ladies and Gents LUCKY STAR Now we have all heared of Lucky Star at the very least but i know we haven't all seen it so here we go Lucky Star Tells the story of 4 high-school Sophmores as they go through life day to day, and unlike School rumble, that is legitly it. It is the life of 4 girls. You Have Konta-Chan: Who is a huge Otaku. Like seriously she could put most of us to shame. Kagami-Chan: Who is kinda the straight man of the group. Tsukasa-Chan: Kagami's Twin sister, More airheaded then her sister. And Miyuki-Chan: The smart-Moe one. So what makes the series great is well.... I can't really explain, theres just something so entertaining about listening and watching these girl's stories. Like literally the first major chunk of the first episode is talking about the ways that the characters eat certain foods. Dont believe me? then check the link And it's just..... Hypnotizing. the show doesnt get much more intense then that with the exception of the moments with Anime Tenchou (which im not gonna spoil, you gotta watch those cause they are 100% hilarious) In the end theres not much i can talk about with out talking about random conversations they have (Quick warning to all you guys who wanna check it out, there is gonna be one awkward part where they dont really identifywhat they are talking about but its obviously menstration .-.) In the end i guess its best to let Kona-chan Describe my feelings on what this anime is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eb3yNkOYJKs&NR=
nyu
Kay, since Icey reminded me to finally post here. My anime tastes are unfortunately really narrowed and I tend to restrict myself even further. With very few exceptions, I refuse to watch anything longer than 26 episodes, and much prefer 13 episode things to anything else. In terms of genre, I've yet to really enjoy anything slice-of-life/comedy/romance/etc. My friend says that I won't watch anything unless the majority the cast dies, which I suppose is true. With that, [s]some[/s] all of my favorites: In the super-violent-and-everybody-is-going-to-die-or-lose-multiple-limbs category:

Kara no Kyoukai - Psychological/horror-esque/actiony stuff. It's split into 7 short movies (and one confusing epilogue), and likes to make the viewer super confused about everything until 5 minutes before it's over. It's also not shown in chronological order, so that helps with the madness. Probably my favorite main character of any series, mostly for her murderous apathy towards everything. Oh, and it's really pretty to look at and has awesome music.

Elfen Lied - Psychological/horror-esque/actiony stuff. I suppose this one is no surpise, considering it's where I stole my name from. As with the above, it's about a girl that kills everything. It has its faults (far more fanservicey than it needs to be, and it kinda forgets about the philosophical questions it raises), but it managed to make me more emotional than any other anime has managed to do, so there's that.
In the I-didn't-expect-to-like-this category:

Ergo Proxy - Psychological/horror-esque/cyberpunk stuff . It's a bit too long and is kinda slow at times, but is good nonetheless. I don't remember much about this show, I just know I liked it at some point and was fairly confused in the end. Oh, and Pino is cool.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica - Psycholocial/horror-esque/magical girl stuff. You have no idea how much I expected to hate this show. I mean, magical girl? Nobody 'cept Nick likes magical girl stuff. The internet just would not shut up about it, so my roommates and I watched it to see what all the fuss was about. Turned out to be really good ... it's the only anime that has ever made me wait in anticipation for the next episode (although to be fair, it's the only anime that I've watched and enjoyed while in season ... plus the whole 1-month delay thing didn't help). Thanks to Ashen for identifying what this show was (and relating it to Higurashi), 'twas a plesant surprise.
Uhh, so that's about it. Maelstrom
I loved G Gundam and it's stereotypiness and lulz. the Mexican Gundam's original name is the Tequila gundam. Chibodee, the American fighter, is the boxer country boy rough neck who grew up as a street punk on the rundown alley ways of New York... WUT? Keep yer story straight! Oh, and has an entrourage of women/cheerleaders/groupies who adore him and who help revive his fighting spirit by singing America the Beautiful. Fucking love this guy! The norwegian (?) gundam is a fucking windmill. Yeah, he's just kinda there as one of those nations that loses pretty early on, so place holder. George Tuss... fuck spelling his last name. The effeminate, charming pretty boy prince type who fences and carries around a rose and does rosey attacks [s]kurama[/s]. Yes, he's french. And his main outfit color is white. BUT- the German gundam/pilot is a ninja. makes no sense. I could go on. And I will, later.
Stein
I feel like ranting about this Anime I just watched.... Eden of the East One of the greatest Anime's I've watched. It's only 11 episodes but they're definitely worth it. It starts off with a Japanese student who goes to Washington D.C to see the white house being a foreigner she finds it easy to try and throw a coin into the fountain from the gate and obviously... that doesn't fly with police officers. She got in trouble but was soon saved by a naked guy. The cops get fooled into a goose chase and they both stay behind, she gives him her jacket as thank you and runs to try and catch her plane back to Japan only to realize she left everything in the coat she gave the young man, and goes after him. Meanwhile it's revealed that the young man doesn't remember anything before he saved her and his only clue is a cell phone. They run into each other again and they go to the airport to go to Japan. He goes to see if he can recollect his thoughts. The whole anime is about him trying to figure out who he is and why he erased his memories and who gave him a phone with 10 billion dollars on it. Watch it it's good and short.

Cyrus
Well lets start with Clannad and Clannad AS Its about this guy named Tomoya. Hes pretty much a douche. He meets a girl named Nagisa. Then........ ya. 4 other girls appear and they help through all their problem. THEN SPOILERS. THEN EVEN MORE SPOILERS. Its a light hearted and sad at the same time. It has its flaws but all anime has their flaws. THEN AS COMES. Cant really say anything due to spoilers. All I can say is that this is one of the saddest anime ever. The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. It is mid-december, and SOS Brigade chief Haruhi Suzumiya announces that the Brigade is going to hold a Christmas party in their clubroom, with Japanese hotpot for dinner. The brigade members Kyon, Yuki Nagato, Mikuru Asahina and Itsuki Koizumi start preparing everything for the party, such as costumes and decorations. But a couple of days later, Kyon arrives at school only to find that Haruhi is missing. Not only that, but Mikuru claims she has never known Kyon before, Koizumi is also missing, and Yuki has become the sole member of the literature club. The SOS Brigade seems to have never existed, nor has Haruhi Suzumiya. No one in the school has ever heard about her… except for Kyon. This movie is amazing. Makes up for those dissapointed by season 2. It is 3 hours pretty much. But its a masterpiece anime. Both of these 2 anime are tied for number 1 on Anime News Network. They both deserve it. K-ON! I love K-ON! It captures High School clubs completely. Cause being lazy is easier then practice. But in the end. Practicing will always benefit This show is lighthearted, funny, and realistic. Also the songs they preform all together is one of the best soundtracks Ive ever heard. This show gets alot of shit. But in the end it just does it job and entertains. It isnt the funniest show ever. But it is pretty funny.
SaiRay
The list of what I read is too long, though my favorites right now are Black Lagoon, Bleach, and Air Gear. I don't actually watch anime too often because I feel like the stories are better as manga and there aren't any real stand alone anime that have caught my attention. Except Ghost in the Shell. Love it. And I suck at suggestions so Im not going to give any.
Cyrus
HEY. THIS IS GONNA BE MY THREAD CLAIMED BY CRUS. SO I SHALL RECOMMEND 3 ANIME WHENEVER I FEEL LIKE POSTING. FIRST OFF IS- Baccano! Ok, this takes place in the 1920s and 1930s. This is all linked through certain characters and events. The main climax is the night on the Flying Pussyfoot which gets high jacked by 2 huge gangs. This is really an amazing story and with 10 Main main characters, each developed really well. This is an anime that you will remember. Next up is- GURREN FUCKING LAGANN. Ok. This series IS overrated. Doesn't mean that it's still great. It's about a boy named SEE-MON. Simon is a digger, he digs. His best friend/bro Kamina wants to go up into the surface. They do when a mech comes down and some chick named Yoko helps them get up. Turns out that beastmen(Half animal half men FURRIES YES THEY ARE) have taken over the surface. So they go on an ADVENTURE to go kill the spiral king. This anime is mostly about being a badass and Simon's development. Also you have to believe in yourself. Also the fact that this show has a few memes and fads to it. Finally there is- Nichijou. This show is fucking random as shit. It's just about school and it's randomness. It's like Azumanga and Lucky Star times 10. It's fucking funny as hell. It's has those extremely intense moments. It is airing right now so if you hate shows that are airing, wait a week or two cause it's almost done. I highly recommend it to any comedy fans.
Maelstrom
Gankutsuou 24 Episodes long and futuristic retelling of the French Classic, Count of Monte Christo. The story revolves mainly around Albert, a naive teen who is taken under the wing of the mysterious Count of Monte Christo. It's a very dramatic and emotional series as the dark secrets behind several aristocratic families come into play, including the betrayal of Edmond Dantes by his best friends that has changed him into the vengeful, supernatural Gankutsuou. The animation is beautiful, but at times hard on the eyes. This anime tops the list of my favorites. Here's a better review than I could write out. And whatever he says, I definitely like the original Japanese dub with english subtitles way better. Oh yeah, did I mention it was futuristic with luxury vacation spots on the moon and deuling gundam-style in giant suits of classic looking armor and giant swords? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGPPBY6xHUg
