Since the Americans are trying to take over this place with stuff like basketball and baseball I thought it was about time to get football out on this field (or soccer as some would call it). In this thread I want you to talk about your favorite teams, leagues or players, or other stuff that's going on in the football world. Unfortunately most leagues are over or having breaks, but there's still a lot to talk about (hopefully).

Remember this isn't just UEFA. This is everything FIFA related

I like Bayern Münich. Don't follow them closely but they're my team for sure.

Was in Germany while the World Cup was held there in 2006, oh man that was a blast, even if I wasn't there because of the world cup, we couldn't have picked a better time to go. Soccer (football) fans are by far the world's most dedicated and passionate.

Favourite player has to be Messi.. :D

And country Argentina.

As for Germany... It seems that they are destined to become arch rivals with ARG..

On a side note.. Club leagues are still on in UEFA..

Saw the MUFC v Liverpool match yesterday.. That was fun..

Oh yeah Chelsea is doing good. I think they are at 39 and ManU is 31 right? Could possibly take it away this season. They seem to be playing strong.

I dont however have a favourite club. But support ManU in the BPL as of now.

Ahhh the beautiful game.. (:

My team has been Aston Villa for many years.

Favourite players would have to be Neymar, Aguero, David Silva and Sterling. They're all an absolute joy to watch!

A shame that Aston Villa lost against West Brom then. Life in the middle isn't that fun, and especially when you're facing ManU in the next match. Good thing both mine and Jericho's favorites are dominating in their own leagues

My favorite team is Arsenal. After a rather shaky start to the season, we've had some nice results against Galatasaray and Newcastle United respectively. 4-1 on both ends. We're sitting at something like 6th this season so far, and we just drew Monaco in the UCL. It could've been worse, we could've had Munich for a 3rd year in a row, or Monaco could still have had James Rodriguez and Falcao.

Chelsea have done everything right this season (except beat Newcastle) and they're looking strong in all competitions in all honesty, but I can see a few injuries crippling them severely unfortunately.

ManU are on a run of 6 wins(?) after that 3-0 win against Liverpool, which was poor from Liverpool really because.. well... it just was.

Aston Villa, I had real hope for. I always liked Aston Villa as a team, because they're always fighting strong. Unfortunate that they lost to West Brom but I think Alan Irvine (West Brom Manager) needed that win, or else the sack was probably looming for him.

On a side note: Burnley are continuing their revival, albeit rather slowly.

We have to get some Champions League predictions going

PSG vs Chelsea
ManCity vs Barcelona
Leverkusen vs Atletico
Juventus vs Dortmund
Schalke vs Real
Shakhtar vs Bayern
Arsenal vs Monaco
Basel vs Porto

Well I'm kind of ignorant, but the only one that doesn't seem like a lock to me would be Barca vs ManCity, I'm not familiar with Shakhtar, Monaco, Basel, or Porto.

Might have to go with Juventus over Dortmund. I know Dortmund topped the group and everything but their domestic form has been absolutely woeful to the point of the relegation threat looming large just before the January transfer window, whereas Juve are top of Serie A.

Hmm..

Interesting isn't it?

Dunno about City v Barcelona either, depends if City have Aguero back.

Australia won the Asian Cup.

We were rather lucky with our draws I guess, we dominated our Group, putting 4 goals past Oman and Kuwait, only losing to South Korea by 1.

Then catching China in the quarter finals, beating them 2-0 thanks to Tim Cahill's forehead and bicycle kick.

Downed the UAE 2-0 in the Semi Finals. (Look out for the midfielder in the UAE side that looks like David Luiz, he's bound to go and do something big soon)

And then the final Australia beat South Korea 2-1 in ET.

We were lucky to see Japan be dumped out by the UAE, and controversial refereeing gave Iraq the edge over Iran, but in the end Australia won it on home soil.

Did any of you watch it?

So the Champions League semis just started and Juventus won against Real. What are you predictions for the games remaining. If someone gets all wins and goals right I'll reward them because getting everything right can't be easy :P
