JapaneseWallpaper
No, in various parts of the world, Cricket is actually pretty big, this I do know. Countries like India, Australia and England are all cricket mad the reason it's named cricket is because whenever people go to play all you hear is crickets chirping because no one came to watch Seems about right: Cricket is similar to baseball, except games can last an hour or 5 days, depending on the skill level. quick video on some basics Now for the rules of cricket; Basics are; 2 teams of 11 players, One team bats, while another bowls. The team which are batting send out to people, who try to hit as many runs as possible, while the bowling team attempts to get them out. (Bowling is the most unnatural action that one can do). how a batter makes runs is hits the ball through the field. off one ball he can score; 1 run, 2 runs, 3 runs, 4 runs and 6 runs. (5 runs as well, but that doesn't happen very often as it requires the wicket keeper to miss the ball, resulting in over throws). Another rule is that Back chatting the umpire will get you a fine So, the aim of the bowling team is to get the batting team out, the way this can be done is by; Bowling them ( skip to 1:17 for the ball) Caught, straightforward enough, Run out ( ) where the batter is out of the designated area There are 3 types of bowling in cricket. Fast, (some ex and current fast bowlers for reference http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Courtney_Walsh http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuart_Broad) Which can hit speeds of 150km/h+ or around 100mph. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VVNybUx7DE a video on the basics of Fast bowling). Fast Bowling is straightforward, but there are things you can do to move the ball. ( )Off-spin (which is what i bowl) Off-spin is bowling that makes the ball move towards a right batter. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Off_spin <-- in depth guide ( Ex and present Off-spin bowlers; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muttiah_Muralitharan Sri Lankan legend and holder of the most wickets ever taken and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nathan_Lyon_%28cricketer%29) the Average speed of off-spin in international Cricket is around 75-80km/h or around 46 Mph. Off-spin is the most common Variant of spin. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mQXZfBSBo0 <-- a small tutorial on how to Bowl off-spin. Leg-Spin: Leg spin is the least common bowling technique, as it requires the bowler to use his/her wrist to move the ball away from the right hander.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leg_spin <-- guide on how to bowl leg spin ( Famous leg-spinners http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shane_Warne http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdul_Qadir_%28cricketer%29) Leg-spin, if bowled correctly can take many wickets, because it is a variation not seen very often. BATTING: Batting is a skill which is easy to learn, but hard to master, For example, international players spend most of the year training to become better players. Some records for Batting: Highest Score: 400 runs in one game, by the West indian Legend, Brian Lara, 99.94, the average of Sir Donald Bradman, perhaps the best batsman the world will ever see. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batting_%28cricket%29 <-- indepth guide on how to bat <--- video on batting. So, that is a small look at the game that is cricket. If you want i can go into more depth for batting, not so much bowling(im bad at bowling) Edited December 16, 2014 by JapaneseWallpaper

Yash
yea ik, was just a joke. i think it's mostly popular in india/uk/southeast asia. but im not too sure lol Yes it is huge in South East Asia. India and Pakistan especially have been rivals since decades. The matches are the most watched of all. Infact cricket and cricketers in India at times are treated as Gods. Check this out: http://www.hindustantimes.com/news-feed/sport/a-temple-for-god-of-cricket-sachin-tendulkar-in-bihar/article1-1153195.aspx so...im still missing how come it might take 5 days to finish.... Thats cause its played for 5 days.. Each day you can play from morning till sundown.. If the bowling team does not manage to get the batsmen out then they continue till either they are all out, or else if the batting team feels they have scored high enough, they declare their innings. However this only happens in Test cricket as it involves 2 innings. One Day and T20 cricket are shorter versions of the game with a limit of 50 and 20 overs respectively.
