Chevaleresse
yeah ik i said i was lacking motivation but it's partially because this idea has been rolling around for a couple days nowFor those that don't know, Destiny is Bungie's latest shooter game. It's an MMO set in a pretty well-fleshed (if you poke around) out sci-fi universe that I would be glad to explain to those that don't have knowledge of the game. The game, in my opinion, was pretty good, but one thing that really lacked in-game was the story. I had an idea to write a fic that would follow the "player" through the storyline as it was originally intended, with more than a bit of my own touch. Then I figured, why not turn it into a RP?If you're interested at all, lemme know. People are usually pretty quiet when these get posted. Information The Races of Destiny Races of Light Humans "This was our world, our solar system. We were here first. And no matter what the darkness brings, we will be here at the dawn." Humans, of course, were the first intelligent race to reside in the system. Their discovery of the Traveler brought on the Golden Age, at least according to our current knowledge. They were nearly wiped out in the event that ended the Golden Age. Exo "It doesn't matter if the system thinks with flesh or superconductor or topological braids in doped metallic hydrogen, as long as the logic is the same. And our logic is the same. Yours and mine. . . If I am a machine then so are you." The Exo were machines created during the Golden Age to fight some long-forgotten war. Built in humanity's image, their sole purpose was the protection of their creators. Now, the Exo that have awakened have no memories of their original purpose, though some retain memories related to their prior lives. They are incredibly complex, with Ghosts being the only ones that can actually understand how they work. Today, they are slightly less common than humans, but not a rare sight by any means. Awoken "The others sing this song of Light and Dark. We, together, have transcended such unimaginative limitations." The Awoken are a mysterious race, and were once human. Something unknown happened to those who fled to the edge of the inner solar system to escape the Collapse. Most live in the Reef where they are ruled over by their Queen, sitting on the edge between Light and Darkness, though there are a few living in the City. Their skin is a bluish gray, and their hair tends toward a violet, clearly marking them as something that is no longer quite human. Races of Darkness Fallen "We have butchers at our gates - four-armed and eager for slaughter." The Fallen are a scavenging race possessing whiffs and echoes of nobility. They possess insectile features and four arms, and have the ability to survive in most environments with little or no specialized gear. They are organized into various Houses that seem to be in opposition to one another. The known Houses include the Devils, the Exile, the Winter, the Kings, and the Wolves, though the last is ruled instead by the queen of the Reef. A Kell claims rule over his or her House, and the Archon performs the will of the Prime Servitor. The Servitors provide the Fallen with Ether, a mysterious substance the Fallen seem to depend on for life. Lower down, the Captains lead roving parties of their underlings across the various worlds in the solar system, searching for anything useful. Vandals occupy the skilled roles in the party, while Dregs serve as shock troops, their fanatic bravery a result of the desire to earn back the two arms that they had removed in a ritual of shame. They appeared after the Collapse in massive, roaming spaceships, and seem to regard humanity in much the same way that humanity regards them; as thieves and little more than vermin grown too large. They have been known, in a few scattered translations, to refer to Guardians as "the Darkness." The Hive "There are nightmares rising from the shadows, and they hunger for our dying hope." The Hive is a zealous collection of seemingly nightmarish and twisted creatures, bent on the destruction of the Light in their holy crusade for their gods. They took the Moon in a storm, and exist in a variety of forms with only a few features in common. Their skin is the color of old bone, flaking and almost dead, and most are covered in bony protrusions that are nigh-indistinguishable from their armor. The screaming, raging Thralls possess razor-sharp claws and a startling amount of speed and agility, though they lack the distinctive armor plates. Acolytes and Knights possess more humanoid features, though a Knight towers over the tallest human. An Ogre is massive, and the head appears to be a mass of what almost looks like tumors that are capable of producing a withering stream of energy and death. Wizards appear to be dressed in tattered cloth, and serve as the brains behind a Hive operation. Most Hive seem to possess some sort of supernatural power, whether it be a Knight's ability to create an impenetrable shield of flame and Darkness, or a Wizard's ability to hover and produce blasts of energy. The Vex "Living metal. Incomprehensible intelligence." The Vex are best understood as a massive computer, with the individual parts simply making up the whole rather than existing as independent beings. They appear to have an unparalleled mastery over time and space, their primary method of travel being direct teleportation. Their technology is not well understood, and their purpose less so. Vex have been seen that appear to come from the far past, and even the distant future. Their Black Garden seems to exist outside of time, and it contains a mysterious power that appears to have driven the entirely logical, rational Vex to religious behavior. There are numerous Vex models, the most common being the Goblin, a mostly humanoid machine with a glowing core and a fan-shaped head. Hobgoblins possess horns and tails that contain advanced sensors, but otherwise are identical to Goblins. A Minotaur's frame is twice as large, and the vulnerable core is invisible beneath tough armored plating. Hydras are, for all intents and purposes, slowly moving artillery platforms, with twin cannons and a rotating shield. All Vex possess a single glowing eye in the center of what appears to be their "head."
Yash
I read the basic plot of the game.. And it seems good.. I'm in.. Though I would like some more info..
Support Squad Felicity Posted January 3, 2015 Support Squad Share Posted January 3, 2015 afaik, the story in Destiny is fairly undeveloped, so having a good writer get behind it and improve upon it would be cool
Deleted User
I might actually be interested in this one. I'd need more info though.
Raindrop Valkyrie
You will have to work a lot on the backstory for sure. Bungie did a pretty pure job on it in the game. Like we don't really know what any of the races want other than to destroy everything fro like...no reason. We know nothing of the Warminds like Rasputin other than their existence, and that they were defense systems for something. There are a hell of a lot of unanswered questions and frankly there isn't much to go on. It would almsot be like building the world yourself with a few minor gudielines. Chevaleresse
I'll be adding info to the OP over the next few days. Basic info on the main races is up. (Cabal tomorrow; they're not really all that important.)
Raindrop Valkyrie
No, but god dang are they annoying to fight.
Chevaleresse
All you gotta do is jump over the Phalanxes and pop them in the arms or the heads. They have boatloads of HP but are slow with big heads. Unless Angry is on, in which case FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUU-
Raindrop Valkyrie
Oh I mean angry bro. Seriously....whoever thought angry was a good idea for the Cabal needs to be fired from Bungie.
Yash
Will we be playing only as humans or can we choose any other race?
Raindrop Valkyrie
Any of the races of Light I would reckon. The races of Darkness are little more than mindless monsters. The Cabal could be argued to have intelligence, but they are too concerned with killing anything that isn't them, and would never leave their home planet of Mars. Not to mention...they like War kinda a lot.
Chevaleresse
Actually, for now only the Vex are off the table. I'm on the fence about the Cabal and Hive.

Raindrop Valkyrie
Axe the Hive, they wouldn't make a very playable race. They are a little too far gone too really....well...I simply don;t think they have any higher reasoning. They act very much like insects or other things that have a hive mind/or live in a hive, hence the name. They only happen to be magcial space ants...rather than the mundane fire variety. Vex should always be off, they are kinda bloody o.p. In game? No...Ina an RP? HELL YES. Giving a player the ability to teleport whenever, how far etc they want is a little bit insane. Change the words little bit to very, that is what should be there.
Chevaleresse
Idk, I got the impression that the Hive, or at least the upper level ones, were individuals.
Aurorix
You know, one way to get by this is naming it "Destiny Based RP" so you can make slight changes about the story and the land. I personally haven't played Destiny yet though I always changes bits and pieces of other games story in my mind to make it more interesting. I personally haven't played Destiny yet though I always changes bits and pieces of other games story in my mind to make it more interesting. That was sort of the plan. Part of this is inspired by the way Destiny's story was originally slated to play out, and part of it by a large amount of fan speculation. (Like, Fallen not really doing anything really bad. We're just as bad to them as they are to us, and it's hard to know who started the conflict originally.)
Lord Bagel
I think this could be a good idea as destiny has no elaborated story but has the opportunity to have quite a rich history. With the info we get from the grimoir cards I think a very cool lore and story could come from an rp like this. I keep trying to get into rp's but have been having trouble though since i'm into the game this one could really interest me.
Chevaleresse
Unrelated: I just noticed that the medal for killing someone in the Crucible with a Sparrow is called "Never speak of this again."
