Fire Monotype starter

So I'm plaing of giving my second favorite typing some more love and doing a fire mono run, though now my question is what pokemon should I start with?

Please leave your suggestions bellow(Starters I can pick up later on are not included in my question since I'm going to try and pick them up either way)

Magician Delphox is underrated! You can borrow leftovers, assault vest and other items during gym battles. You can even stop PULSE forms if you time it right! And in my opinion fire-psychic isn't a bad type combination.

Delphox is a serious pain to train early game, which is a problem for a fire mono, since really you only have Litleo, Pansear, and sometimes Numel before you get a few gyms in. Otherwise though, it does have an excellent typing to deal with the game. Fern has mostly grass types, so it destroys that. Victoria and Cain have fighting and Poison which Psychic decimates, so that's all your rivals handled with just your starter (for the first few encounters anyway). Magician is always spectacular.

However, something you might consider is perhaps Chimchar. It gets Iron Fist so + and you can breed the Elemental Punches onto it to deal with Water Types. Just a thought, though.

Charizard, Blaziken and Infernape make everything too easy. Choose Tepig, no one seems to care about him.

Typhlosion can learn eruption from the move relearner. So it can be a powerful pokemon, but getting it to typhlosion is a pain. Btw the Double battles are really easy with ninetales&typhlosion combo even more so with flashfire.

He does make a good argument but you are going to get cyndaquil later on anyway

When i played with chimchar with iron fist it was nice but wasn't too great.

So i suggest either charmander or torchic. Can't really comment on delphox never used it

Torchic is a no-brainer.

Delphox is next to useless, and while Charizard is good, Blaziken is just better.

For example, Hi Jump Kick Blaziken means you can 6-0 Samson without even trying.

Make sure you grab the Vulpix early on too.

I am going to thank all of you who reacted, and while Blaziken is indeed a powerhouse he is NOT the winner, I am now flipping coins on Charizard and Delphox since they have the best coverage through out the game.

Also thanks fot the tip on Vulpix while I was planning on that already.

You should take Fennekin.

You can have the fire/fighting tepig after Aya, so you'll have to wait a while. While Blaziken is easy mode for the beginning of the game, the fox has a unique typing for the game. You can assist it with the monkey, vulpix and numel when you begin. Then the additions of Arcanine, Heatmor and Darmanitan when you reach the beach will certainly be helpful.

You don't have many options with fire, but since we haven't encountered water, rock and dragon gyms yet, which naturally resist your STAB, you have nothing to fear.

I reset for an adamant HA torchic & even still I couldn't use him only, (level's weren't a problem) it's just not easy. Radomus being a double is hard as hell & if you get a low roll in samson's gym you'll die

It's more reliable to sweep Samson without relying on high striker rolls. Samson is easy to set up on - lead with Arcanine for Intimidate, sac it, and then Bulk Up to +3 and sweep with something like Blaze Kick.

Yes I meant I ONLY used blaziken so I didn't have anything of the sort... around level 65 I was I believe with some candies used, I believe one of his pokémon has a sash which caused me issues a bit as well

Now that the starter is chosen I do have one other question.

How do you get the Numel in peridot Ward? I have been there on rain and thunderstorms but I never saw that numel yet, can someboddy tell me what I'm doing wrong?
