BlueMoonIceCream
Well I have -35 lightning resistance so it might be a bit difficult but we'll see. I am currently trying to get lava nuggets to upgrade my grim kat which is probably my favourite weapon in the game, so I need to fight an uragaan which is really easy to beat but I need to mine its back to have an extra chance at getting them which is very irritating when I actually manage to mine it and it says "Couldn't find anything"
dead account
"Couldn't find anything" usually means you didn't get there quick enough. Like with a monster corpse that's despawning. I also kinda lucked out with those lava nuggets. Didn't even need to mine them, I got a ton in the quest rewards for my first Uragaan. BlueMoonIceCream
No, no, I know why the message comes up, but that's the point I kept missing my windows, that being said I got them all on the bus home I just need an accolade now which I believe is quick to get on an online mission so I'll leave it until tomorrow. And to upgrade the mizutsune switch axe I need some seregios jams I forget exactly what I need from it but all I know is it won't be for a while probably it might be available in the 6 star village quests? Also I'm going to need some good starting high rank gear any suggestions?
dead account
Steve(Seregios) is indeed in 6 star village quests. I think you're referring to its bladescales? That's what I saw you needed on kiranico. Also, if you need an accolade, you can get them in the 6 star village multi-monster quests. It's either guaranteed or very likely to get one from those. I actually haven't been looking at any HR gear yet. I guess I should be fine with my Astalos stuff for early HR, not sure about you. I guess you should just focus on what skills you like out of them. BlueMoonIceCream
I might just go for the gammoth next then and work my way up to village 6. But I'd rather get the accolade while fighting with someone because that's more fun than grinding it out Edited August 2, 2016 by BlueMoonIceCream
dead account
Brach Hammer - An Arm that has crushed the courage of many a hunter. Slime makes forging tricky. I got 5 of those off 1 Brachydios. MonHun is silly.
BlueMoonIceCream
It seemed to have a few extra lying around XD I can't tell you how many times I've got like 3 tails from monsters and I'm just like..... where did I find those?
dead account
Dude, wait till you get to Plesioth. It's possible to carve multiple heads off a single Plesioth. I know because that happened to me a number of times in MH3U.
BlueMoonIceCream
Oh, yeah that too, it's ridiculous how the game works sometimes but I would not want to change it though because it's too funny. Update on the Astalos by the way, I absolutely destroyed it, I'm actually surprised at how well I did against it, I basically stayed under it the majority of the time, I also got 2 mounts off into my arts which really helped, I thought it would be as aggressive as the ratholos if not more but it was fine. Speaking of the ratholos though I had a lot of trouble with it, I got super mad fighting it but I managed to kill it without using mega potions. Now all I have left is the gammoth which I fought a bit already to see how it played and it's a lot more intimidating than I thought the thing is HUGE, like WAY bigger than I thought but it looks fun I can't wait to fight it properly. LeonVermillion
wow didn't know there's a Monhun threat I haven't played the MHG let alone the MH4U what do you guys think about the gen4? Is it harder or easier than the previous gen? Next month (hopefully) I'm going to buy the 3DS and the game
Flynn
Compared to MH4U, MHX's level of difficulty is largely varied and dependent. MH4U can be considered stagnant in difficulty (for the most part), consisting of a very leveled out playthrough, with moderate spikes at Urgents which raise the cap of difficulty. MHX, however, really changes depending on your weapon + Style. From personal experience, some forms of play can make the game really easy, really hard, or just manageable. I'm not sure if you know about the Hunter Styles, but it goes like this. Aerial: Jump off of monsters, bombs, other players, or even cats to get launched into the air for an attack. This shit is straight busted on some weaps like GS. You'll easily get around 4 mounts per hunt. For most weapons, Aerial makes the game trivial in the hunting aspect. I personally main SA and have found Aerial SA to be godlike. Aerial LBG and gunners in general seem to find this a little harder to master. Bushido (localized as Adept): Time a dodge roll perfectly to get an extended dodge plus full I-frames + enter a sprint which leads into an attack. This one is hit and miss, but really good with gunners as it auto-reloads/charges with a higher power shot. I've heard it conditions (more than other styles) you to rely on its power as a dodge and switching will sometimes make you whiff a roll. Bushido SA is sorta eh while CB is fantastic. Hit and miss. Guild: Basically normal MH weapon with two Hunter Arts. Not much to say but certain players prefer this. Other Styles cost you the ability to use some normal X or A moves, but Guild keeps them all. Guild SA, for example, is busted (but SA is the master race weapon so this is understandable). Striker: Have 3 Arts and they all charge faster. Really amazing on weapons like Lance and SA and LS who are blessed with absolutely incredible Arts. Some cats even have horns that will charge your Arts even faster. It gets pretty insane. Some weaps like GL and Bow don't have more than one or two useful Arts so Striker is kind of sub par here. So basically the tl;dr is that MHX varies in difficulty depending on your Weapon and what Style you pair it with because certain combos make life easy or a challenge. I see wow well more reason to buy this game I can only play MHFU and MHP3rd as of now so I'm reallyyyyy way back of most of you guys I already know about the hunting style, it's probably one of the two reason why I'm going to skip MH4U and just buy MHGen always love Longsword and Bow, wanted to try the Insect Glaive
BlueMoonIceCream
The only problem I have with MHG is the lack of content, it doesn't even have G rank, but even so it has my favourite monster, armour set, soundtrack and playstyle so far, I love all the details they added in this game and the hunter arts are REALLY cool. I wouldn't say you should skip over MH4U because there's a lot to do in that game but I would also say play generations because it's very well done plus you get to play as palicoes :

BlueMoonIceCream
The bubble dragon is my favourite monster by the way, it's super fun to fight and it's really just a beautiful monster, even though I'm kind of biased because you fight it in the moonlight Edited August 7, 2016 by BlueMoonIceCream

I found Glavenus really cool, I mean who doesn't want to fight a T-Rex with a sword as it's tail! I wanted to fight this guy in MHG
Flynn
Mizu is a wonderful monster. The gear you get from crafting its parts both looks amazing and has a fantastically unique skill. When normally fighting Mizu, if hit by the bubbles, you get a bonus in movement speed as well as Evade +1, but getting hit a second time basically buts you in a vulnerable status where you cannot attack and movements become slippery and you're basically doomed. The armour gives you the first part (faster movement speed and Evade +1) and procs during dodge rolls. It's really great for Blademasters! Raviel the Phantom
The one thing I WISHED they had done with MHGen is a storyline. MH4U was so good because they had a story that built up the Gore Magala and the Shagura Magala.
ReploidZero
See now I got the game on the release date, and yet I'm still sitting at HR 5 and low Rank Zinogre armor. xD But, I love Adept LS so far, and Adept LS doesn't have to worry about Tripping people as much either. Also while most monsters aren't too hard for me considering I have a few years of Monster Hunter under my belt, I will say one thing. I hate hunting the Glavenus. From it's constant side stepping, and turning around, to it's ridiculous range on it's tail swipes, and even if you topple it it'll be too far away to get a decent numbers of hits in. It's most vulnerable body parts are quite high off the ground, and for most of the fight your either attacking the legs and doing minimal damage, or hitting the face and hoping it doesn't side step immediately. BlueMoonIceCream
The Glavenus isn't THAT bad, it gets predictable after a while, I didn't even have to dip into my mega potions when I fought it, though I have to admit to start it's pretty intimidating, I've noticed though that my main way of fighting just involves me keeping my distance for the most part. I wouldn't say I enjoy fighting it though I'm not super fond of it's armour set either. And I also got it at release and I'm HR3 with low rank mizutsune armour
ReploidZero
Well it's more that I was caught off guard by the range of some of it's moves, I'm pretty sure Low rank Glavenus was able to one shot me with it's flaming tail slash thing that has massive range. XD Thankfully if you can Stagger it while it's about to do that move, (I.E when it's grinding it's hot tail in it's mouth) it'll fall over and also cause an explosion within it's own mouth too.
BlueMoonIceCream
When it does that I think you can stand under it and you'll be fine, but yeah that move is ridiculous, I'm just glad there's water nearby the first time you fight it. Poor glavenus he's so proud of his tail he just wants to show it off but then all of a sudden he trips and explodes :c
ReploidZero
Deviant monsters though, some of them are a royal pain the arse! I wasn't expecting Silverwind Nargacuga to not only inflict Bleed, but gain some sort of destructo disk-esque projectile slicer that it launched off it's own tail that inflicts Bleed.
