Reignited'Light
[[: OU SHOWCASE WITH DESTRUCTIVE SKITTY :]] Pokemon of the week is... ---------------> Latios Viability in OU: S Rank- Latios has continued to be a top tier threat in OU ever since the BW metagame. Its combination of typing, power, and speed has made Latios shine in the metagame. With 130 Special Attack and 110 Speed, Latios is a common threat that one should prepare for. While Mega Latios did receive a few buffs, Latios with Life Orb is still the superior option in terms of power for a majority of the time, although it can be used as a Mega if your team doesn't already have one. While many Fairy typed pokemon can severely hurt Latios with their STAB, Latios is a amazing pokemon to have and should be considered on any kind of team. Recommended Movesets Latios (M) @ Life Orb/Latiosite Ability: Levitate EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Timid Nature - Draco Meteor - Psyshock - Hidden Power [Fire]/Earthquake/Roost - Defog/RoostIf you run Earthquake, use a Naive nature. The power that Latios has is amazing. Having base 110 Speed makes this even more significant, thus making this set great for both sweeping and wallbreaking. Draco Meteor is pretty much necessary for this set, as it provides power that can end many offensive Pokemon, and can also be the final attack that breaks a defensive Pokemon. Unless they have a Steel- or Fairy-type on their team or have something with very good special bulk, switching into a Draco Meteor is going to deal a insane amount of damage. This may also force your opponent to sack a teammate to safely bring in a check. Psyshock is a very useful move that allows Latios to damage special walls more effectively than Draco Meteor. It gives coverage against Fighting types such as Keldeo, Conkeldurr, and Heracross. It is very good due to it's ability to hit Pokemon on the Physical side using the special attack stat. It also doesn't lower your Special attack stat like Draco Meteor does. The third choice of move is usually your coverage move. If your team is Scizor and Ferrothorn weak, use HP Fire. Use Earthquake is Heatran is a annoyance. Roost is also a option if you got those three threats covered. Finally, if you gave your Latios HP Fire or Earthquake already, you might as well take your pick with Defog or Roost. Defog removes hazards on your field, and Roost is for longevity. Latios (M) @ Choice Scarf Ability: Levitate EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Timid Nature - Draco Meteor - Psyshock - Defog - Trick This set is sacrificing some power to act as a great revenge killer. Typical counters to Latios are Clefable and Sylveon. Using Trick to cripple defensive walls is really amazing for any team. Be careful when you use Trick though. If you need to revenge kill more threats, refrain from using Trick unless said threats are gone. EV Spreads The spread EVs give Latios the most out of its Special attack and Speed stats. It allows it to speed tie Gengar, Latias, and opposing Latios. It also outspeeds Keldeo and Terrakion as well, while the former is easily checked by Latios. Life Orb is the item of use, so Latios can spam most of its attacks without being worried of lacking power or being locked into a move. If running Earthquake, you should run a EV spread of : 24 Atk / 232 SpA / 252 Spe with a Naive nature. It allows Latios to OHKO Specially defensive Heatran after Stealth Rock damage. Making plays Latios may be a top tier threat, but that does not mean you should play recklessly with it! There are so many things you have to watch out for. Things like Icy Wind Keldeo, Knock Off Thundurus, and Pursuit trappers like Tyranitar and Bisharp are able to threaten Latios easily. Also, Draco Meteor's side effect of lowering the special attack stat is easily exploitable. Play carefully with Draco Meteor and keep Latios healthy to remain a threat to the opponent. Team Synergy Many Fighting type Pokemon have great synergy with Latios, as they are able to threaten many common Dark types. Keldeo, Conkeldurr, and Cobalion are huge threats to the metagame. Latios also deals with Mega Venusaur and Amoonguss, two of Keldeo's common counters. Since Fairy typed pokemon are troublesome to Latios, one can opt to run a steel type to threaten them. Heatran and Scizor are really good OU steel types that synergize well with Latios.
slant
nice! one thing that I would add is that the mega isn't too useful: LO latios reaches the same levels of power and you don't use the mega slot. Correct me if I'm wrong but you only make latios the mega if you've made the team already and there is literally nothing else you need to mega. nvm i think you already wrote that, i am stupid. It's not as powerful as the Life Orb version, but the upside is that it doesn't take recoil when it attacks lol.
Raindrop Valkyrie
That is literally the only time. If you have nothing else to mega, eh... why not. But, otherwise his mega barely adds anything to him and is not worthwhile in the Mega-slot imo. I find Latios to be more of a glue-ish mon to begin with though, as I only really throw him on at the end of making teams,so I highly doubt that Situation will come up a lot. ((not even going to get into how I like Latias better anyway for the added bulk and ability to say... have multiple Chances to Defog/whatever if I am using it, mostly since that is what I use the Lati twins for 9 times out of 10.)) Shadow Tack
Many Fighting type Pokemon has great synergy with Latios. you're doing it wrong skits. Heatran and Scizor are really good OU steel types that energizes well with Latios. how does a steel type energize w/ latios, are they transformers or something? grammar mistakes aside, this is extremely well made

Technically, Latios is a transformer if it is the Mega Evolution for the team. :]

Technically, Latios is a transformer if it is the Mega Evolution for the team. :] latios isn't a fucking robot, scizor can at least pass as a transformer since it's a steel type that megas, but latios isn't a robot.
