help getting into 7th street

Please help, I've searched everywhere for an answer to this problem.

I cannot get into 7th street. I paid for the pokemon that was stolen at the beginning of the game and tracked it all the way to lapis ward. But when I talk to my gang leader all he says, over and over, is "with team magma gone now we can... yada yada... if you need anything just let me know" (except for getting into 7th street, obviously).

As for where I am in the game, I just finished the second team meteor factory and took out my first pulse Muk. I have 4 badges, and I got the boat to take across the purple lake of fun time. I also took out the rival gang, if that wasn't clear already.

Do I have to wait until later in the game? Is my game just broken? Please help.

you need to wait till later in the game

You will get to 7th street after beating psychic gym .. When you beat him come back to reborn city and talk to your magma/aqua leader he will let you enter 7th street

Also, it would be nice if you went over to the Grand Hall to introduce yourself to the forum.

You need to get at least 8 badges to trigger the 7th street event. Also make sure you made all the missions for either Team Aqua/Team Magma (you choose).

But even after you unlock the place, the secret stolen pokémon event string will still be not finished. It's just depressing.. but life goes on.
