I am having trouble with shelly the gym leader and i was wondering if anybody could tell me of a pokemon or certain pokemon for me to get and where to get them. it would be a huge help. Enkhidu
Growlithe or Vulpix can be a huge help in Shelly's gym when they have Flame Burst, because with that the field can turn to your favor. The Growlithe can be obtained after you find the 5 cops in Beryl/Jasper Ward, and the Vulpix when you show a Pokémon with max happiness to a stylist in Obsidia Ward. primrose
there's actually an official gym leader help thread here; consulting there might get you the best assistance fastest, imo. it might also be helpful if you posted movesets here, since i can't really know if the problem's the pokemon or your moves without them. i would recommend grabbing a numel, though, during a thunderstorm in peridot ward; a pansear in the tunnel between opal and peridot ward (the one with the train tracks passing through); and the growlithe from the jasper ward police station. if you want something other than fire-types, there's an onix you should be able to grab in peridot ward, in a house close by the bombed train station you started the game at. if you're willing to spend the time and money, you can also pick up a trapinch at the onyx game corner (it costs 10,000 coins); it starts out with rock slide, which gets noticeably more powerful if the trapinch also has sheer force as its ability, so reset for that. there's probably other pokemon that could help, but i can't think of any more off the top of my head. my advice beyond that -- remember the field. i personally lit it on fire with flame burst during my second playthrough, which effectively got rid of the benefits she'd have had otherwise from the forest field. plus, type-scaling fire damage to grounded non-fire-types has to hurt to a bug gym leader (although she does have a lot of bug/flying-types, so the assistance might be limited scratch that, the only one she has is her yanmega). Kemotatnew
Ohhhh, so the topic is about the Shelly battle! I thought you just wanted to tell us that she annoys you. Actually she annoys me a lot. Like...even more than Fern. I just dont like Shelly. Srs, Struggle Bug? Like.. who the hell uses that? Is there any person that has ever used the TM Struggle Bug in their life? I hope she gets her ass wiped by Bennett, because he's the real deal.

Monochrome_Complex
I love shelly, she's adorable and her nicknaming her pokemon after her best friends is just too cute and real. Her book puzzle was annoying though. Struggle bug is fairly decent early game since it's not 30 BP anymore.
Helia
I love shelly, she's adorable and her nicknaming her pokemon after her best friends is just too cute and real. THIS. When I saw more names in Ametrine I melted. Normally I'm not one to hang out with the shy types but she has my heart. It does get lame soon that she has litterally wiped my ass all over her gym more than 10 times and she keeps going like: "Omg I'm so weak, I can't do anything, my brother doesn't like me" Well fuck your brother because he was 90 times weaker than you and you don't need his validation to be a good person. For the gym, I suggest what people above said. Also don't be afraid to pick up a good flying type, only that Anorith has shit on flying types. I loved how her character develops as the story progresses. When I saw she had all these new party members named after the orphanage kids, I was extremely fascinated (I wish she had a Pokemon named after the protagonist but obviously that's really difficult to implement I'm guessing)
