The Badge System Is Stupid.

The badge system in this game is really stupid. Can't go above a certain level to be an already cheating AI Gym Leader. I understand the game is meant to be hard, but when you make it seem impossible you lose peoples interest.

Welcome to Reborn

At least Ame isn't responsible for the cheating AI. It's also bullshit that you have to level your pokemon to a point of disobeying to actually beat a gym.

Depends which gym you're talking about.

I have with this kind of topics the same issue I have with hooligans that protest against their on team during football matches: nobody forced you to be here. You don't like the way your team plays? Don't go to the friggin' stadium. You don't like how this game creates difficulty spikes? Don't play the friggin' game. It's that simple.

Now I know you will retort that "everyone is free to express their opinion" but the fact is, you just called a game mechanic "stupid" and the one who made the game (for free!) a "cheater". These are insults. And insults are NOT opinions. So yeah, do not expect the dev team to change a core mechanic just so that a kid who insulted them will be happy.

And this is without even mentioning the fact that, if increased difficulty makes you feel like the AI "cheats", and you are unable to beat gyms without overleveling mons, this game is probably too difficult for you, which only enforces my earlier suggestion as to how to solve the problem.

All of the Gym Leaders AI's cheat. Ame confirmed this.

Cheatable, but certainly not impossible. Besides am I the only one who doesn't see it as a cheat? Because there were plenty times when the opponent makes a wrong move in my playthrough.

Also it's funny when you say the badge system is "stupid" as you say when my problem right now is that my team is currently underleveled. Are you one of those people who pick favorites and try to brute force the game like all other pokemon games?

I have 4 pokemon going to the 4th Gym Leader Shelly. All at level 35 and I can't even have them level in battle otherwise I lose due to the level limit being 35.

Well, you can outsmart cheaters, else there wouldn't be so many people having completed all episodes and gyms up till now, including me.

If you don't like how hard the game is, rage quit? Like some people said before in the last 5 threads about the same topics with different names maybe this just isn't the game for you?

I find it funny that you think me calling the AI a cheat is an opinion. It's fact as Ame has confirmed this herself. She wanted to change it to where the AI didn't, but her colleague decided against it.

I am not the only one who suggests this, I see.

You keep telling that, but I don't remember anything like that, and I am pretty sure that I have been here for longer than you. Unless you are talking about the mechanic that allows the AI to detect the move you selected and react accordingly, but even that is actually fair, and is meant as a way to balance the very existance of this forum. Since this forum exists, the players know in advance Pokemon, field effects and strategies used by the leaders, so it's only fair that the leaders would know what you do. Besides, there is the fact that a Pokemon can carry 4 moves at most, so even if the AI detects your moves, there is only that much it can do if the Pokemon it has out lacks an appropriate counter-move. So yeah, all you need to beat such "cheating" is diversity: train a lot of different Pokemon, and bring to each gym battles the ones you know the leader cannot counter.

But what am I telling you this for? You yourself admitted to only having trained 4 Pokemon so far. Which proves that what I said earlier is true: you are one of those kids who think overleveling is the answer of everything, which can allow you to muscle through any Pokemon game. And Reborn's different rules stole your thunder. Therefore, this game really is too difficult for you.

You can buy common candies. You know? The ones that reduce your level?

You have heard of them, right?

Never over-leveled my team for any gyms, can't see the problem.

More likely you are one of those who don't know how to play Pokemon without Smogon, to play Pokemon as it was/needs to be

I have beaten all the current released gyms, I will admit they are very difficult at times, but I find it a lot more enjoyable to actually have to use my brain and strategize how to defeat the gym leader rather than simply being able to fly through like they are nothing, in Reborn I can enjoy a difficult and fulfilling battle with a gym leader in which our levels are close and it actually feels like I achieved something by beating them.

Pokémon Reborn isn't easy and if you aren't willing to train pokemon you usually wouldn't you will find it quite difficult without overleveling, although as already stated you can use Common Candy to lower the level of your pokemon so that then bring it back to obedient level.

I really can't agree more. The majority of us here do enjoy a challenge and obviously everything Reborn has to offer. If this isn't the game for you, just put it down quietly - and don't disrespect the developers by insulting them. That's quite rude... in case you didn't know.

That one i agree very much.

Oh thank you for finally stating a great truth. Competitive battling is (unfortunately) a thing, and Smogon is indeed a Godsend for anyone who is into competitive battling... But playing the actual game was supposed to be a completely different experience. And sure as hell, Reborn IS a completely different experience. So yeah, "Imma overlevel my fav mons untill I can get on it the moves Smogon suggests" is a great strategy in the latest Pokemon games (particularly Gen 6 ones, which sometimes really feel like the programmers are telling you "skip the game, build a competitive team, move onto the WiFi battling"), but it does NOT work in Reborn. Reborn was specifically built to make sure that it would NOT work.

So @OP: accept this, restart your game, and approach your new playthrough with a different mentality. Or stop playing the friggin' game if you really cannot accept this truth. It's that simple.

I can understand frustration over the mechanic, but now you're just throwing out false information to try and justify calling a mechanic that is key to this game, "cheating." This game requires more strategy than the "Type-Advantage 10 Level-Advantage sweep" that is prevalent within the normal games.
