Finding Water-Type Pokemon (Monorun Team)

Daniel Blackworth

Question

Hey, guys! I need your help in finding early water-type pokemon for my monorun team. I'm currently in the PULSE Tangrowth event in Obsidia Ward, Reborn City and that Tangrowth is such a big problem for my water-types.

My Current Team:

Prinplup Lv. 24 (Water) Ability: Defiant ,Naive Nature

Moves: BubbleBeam, Cut, Metal Claw, Peck

Ducklett Lv. 24 (Water/Flying) Ability: Hydration , Lonely Nature

Moves: Aerial Ace, BubbleBeam, Aqua Ring, Feather Dance

Goldeen Lv. 23 (Water) Ability: Lightningrod, Gentle Nature

Moves: Horn Attack, Aqua Ring, Water Pulse, Flail

I'm looking for the Lotad in Coral Ward but I visited the place on a rainy day and it wasn't there. What are the conditions so that I would be able to meet it? And is Ludicolo a worthy pokemon for your party?

Are there other good water pokemon you can get early-in-game?

Can you give me strategies so that I would be able to beat that Tangrowth? And for Florinia in Onyx Ward?

Thanks! Hoping for your help.

Thanks for the advice. But is Quagsire an event or just a wild pokemon?

Quagsire (and Wooper) is available in Azurine Island... but if you're in Obsidia now... you won't be getting there for a while

I personally really like getting a Psyduck in the Onyx Arcade (no need for Voltorb flipping, the scattered coins are more than enough) and grinding the heck out of it against the Jasper/Malchous Beedrills to make it a mixed attacker. It learns Zen Headbutt which is really useful against Corey, Kiki and Aya, and also Aqua Tail at 32 just before evolving.

But there are really few water pokemon in the early part of the game.

i think good think is to find a fossil o caraccosta but you will have to w8 a little until you resurect it.

I have fully EV trained a carracosta and it's not living up to expectations..

Chinchou -> lanturn will be a solid addition too! With the volt absorb ability you'll be able to eliminate 1 of the 2 main weaknesses of your team.

Unless you're up vs rotom Lawnmower, then you're fucked

Edit: wait quagsire eliminates the same weakness.. anyway lanturn is really special defensive :P

Oh and I recommend a ludicolo, just because it's ludicolo.

I defeated the Tangrowth yesterday and now I'm having trouble with Head Instructor Florinia.

My Current Team:

Prinplup Lv. 25 (Water) Ability: Defiant ,Naive Nature

Moves: BubbleBeam, Cut, Metal Claw, Peck

Ducklett Lv. 25 (Water/Flying) Ability: Hydration , Lonely Nature

Moves: Aerial Ace, BubbleBeam, Aqua Ring, Feather Dance

Goldeen Lv. 25 (Water) Ability: Lightningrod, Gentle Nature

Moves: Horn Attack, Aqua Ring, Water Pulse, Flail

Lombre Lv. 23 (Water/Grass) Ability: Own Tempo , Relaxed Nature

Moves: Bubble, Absorb, Water Sport, Mist

So, Florinia's Desert Field is one of my main problems here. My Lombre's Mist can turn the field into Misty Terrain but it's only for 5 turns. Maractus, Breloom, and Grotle get easily defeated by my Ducklett but after it beats them it becomes Level 26 and then it starts to disobey me. Prinplup manages to beat Cradily (Although it takes around 5 minutes of Metal Claw) and then Ferroseed is a very big problem to my team with Sandstorm, Leech Seed, and the Iron Barbs. So can you give me some tips on how to beat her Ferroseed and the last pokemon (I forgot)?

Did you get the panpour in peridot ward by any chance?

That would help immensely, as at level 25 you'd have access to both scald and taunt, which in theory should make ferroseed a lot easier (stop seeds, fish for burns)

I'm amazed no one brought that up earlier really.

I'm also stunned you got past the tangrowth, considering it has growth and on the forest field it get +2 in both atk and spa. Well done on that.

Next best Idea I have for you would be to obtain substitute from the casino, so you can sub up before it can use leech seed. Also psyduck as cloud nine will negate sandstorm.

Also a common candy to get ducklett to level 24 might help.

Well, the reason I was able to beat Tangrowth was first I had to make it rain then keep hitting it with Aerial Ace. And Steel Gem plus Metal Claw for Prinplup and Normal Gem plus Horn Attack for Goldeen.
