Reignited'Light
[[: OU SHOWCASE WITH DESTRUCTIVE SKITTY :]] Pokemon of the week is... Magnezone Viability in OU: A- Rank- Magnezone is in the zone of the OU metagame!Magnezone, it doesn't seem to be that appealing due to its slow speed stat and terrible HP stat. It won't be able to take much hits even if they are resisted. Having a x4 weakness to ground doesn't really do Magnezone any favors, as ground types flourish the OU metagame like Landorus, Excadrill, and Dugtrio. Why use Magnezone? Simple... Magnet Pull. Being able to trap annoying steel types is huge, considering that Mega Metagross and Ferrothorn are extremely common now. Magnezone can easily support its teammates just by getting rid of steel types. Magnezone is so scary, some players use the item Shed Shell just so they do not get trapped by this big flying Magnet. Without any other interruptions, let's go to the movesets! Recommended Moveset Magnezone @ Choice Scarf / Choice Specs Ability: Magnet Pull EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe Timid Nature - Volt Switch - Hidden Power Fire - Flash Cannon - Thunderbolt Its purpose is to eliminate annoying steel types so you can have something clean up the opponent's team. A Choice Scarf can be used if you want to revenge kill the Lati twins and Keldeo without Choice Scarf, or Choice Specs so that you will have more damage output. Volt switch switch helps gains you momentum so you can potentially trap annoying steel types later in the game. Hidden Power Fire is used so you can always win against Ferrothorn, which is a really annoying steel type to face. Flash Cannon and Thunderbolt are used for powerful STAB moves that Volt Switch and Hidden Power Fire cannot threaten. Flash Cannon is useful to beat Fairy types which are also annoying for many sweepers. Making plays Magnezone is easy to play with. Just bring Magnezone against a slow steel type, and kill it with Hidden Power Fire or a Electric STAB attack. It's best to bring Magnezone in with slow Volt Switches and U-turns. Bringing in Magnezone recklessly is not very wise, as a careless switch will destroy Magnezone and you will lose momentum. Team Synergy Magnezone pairs really well with Mega Beedrill. Mega Beedrill can use Knock Off to get rid of the Shed Shell item on many steel type pokemon that like to switch on on Beedrill, so Magnezone has a easier time trapping steel types. Another excellent partners are Clefable and many physical sweepers, due to both being walled by steel types. Magnezone can easily get rid of them and make Clefable or said physical sweeper plow through teams without steel types interfering. Slow Volt Switch and U-turn pokemon also pair well with Magnezone, as it is able to come in safely against anything you desire.
