Tomy
So i don't understand that why is Cain's sister a gym leader if she didn't wanted to be just like the ice type leader?
Tacos
Because Cain was originally meant to be the substitute. However, because he ran away, the duty was forced onto Aya.
Lostelle
It says this before the battle with Aya, slow down when reading.
Global Mods Ice Cream Sand Witch Posted March 12, 2015 Global Mods Share Posted March 12, 2015 idk why they can't just choose to decline if they don't want it.
NickCrash
Two scenarios:a) Aya cares about Cain. Therefore, since it wasn't her burden in the first place and Gym substitutes are probably bound by contract, while receiving certain benefits (or just... pay) when having proven their worth, she took the job that otherwise would have stopped Cain in his tracks. They need the money/position/place/gym. As stated above they probably receive certain boosts, either economic or territorial (having a free house or area under command, which they can do whatever they want with). Her mother, being the bitch she is, is probably unemployed and lazy, must be having a hard time dealing with stuff (probably after a fall of the father) and they do their best. It would be interesting to get some insight to them. It's not used in pokemon games, but Reborn has always been different.
Global Mods Ice Cream Sand Witch Posted March 12, 2015 Global Mods Share Posted March 12, 2015 Oh yea, both of those scenarios make sense.
Helia
Well they'd better hurry up and move to the city then once enough funds. Who accepts guests in that place?
Enkhidu
Well they'd better hurry up and move to the city then once enough funds. Who accepts guests in that place? A better question, who lives there? I mean is kind of a ruined city, full of waste and hope.
Xiri
Maybe (assuming Mr. Bigglesworth is defeated) if people put in effort to restore the city (again), the place might be able to be populated once more.

Hey good hypothesis. With Mr. Bigglesworth gone maybe the Wasteland returns to just 'Land'. That would be awesome.
Monochrome_Complex
I find it weird Cain and family live in the BWL. Like are they super poor or something?
Administrators Amethyst Posted March 16, 2015 Administrators Share Posted March 16, 2015 Yes, actually. Technically they've been squatting there. A lot of this will not be represented in-story, so I don't mind relating some back story from our online league. Cain and Aya's parents had a pretty rough divorce, and since dad was the breadwinner, so to speak, her mom wasn't left with a whole lot of options after the separation. I'm not clear on what kind of living condition she was in after re-marrying, but the impression I got was that it was a shoddy one. This is represented in-game as she resides in the wasteland because it happened to be a better environment than the streets of the city, and no one was policing it to stop her. Helia
Insert epiphany why Cain turned to prostitution here.
Xiri
That so sad! I still want to enter that room on a taurus though What does Cain/Aya's mom say when you enter her house with a Tauros? I would try it out myself... but I'm experiencing some terrible lag at the moment...
Simon
"..." "UM EXCUSE ME, WHAT ARE YOU DOING RIDING THAT POKEMON IN MY HOUSE?!" A normal response in my opinion.
Claydoll
Followed by "OH NONONONO YOU ARE DEFINITELY NOT ENTERING THERE RIDING THAT THING, YOU STOP THIS INSTANT!" when trying to enter the back and "PLEASE GET OUT, I DON'T WANT YOU TO BREAK EVERYTHING AND A HALF WITH YOUR HAPLESS BULLSHIT" if you talk to her directly. Hahahaha I never actually tried to obtain Beldum so that dialogue was quite new to me. Oh I seriously love some of the Reborn dialogue
