Yu-Gi-Oh Roleplay Episode 1: Heartland Homicide [AFTER SCHOOL]

Ken slowly chewed on a cookie as he listened to Charles regale his tale. His eyes were slightly wide by the end of it: Charles actually SAW Tenjo die, or at least saw he was dead. That was some pretty wicked information... he wanted to ask more, but took a second to look at Charles. The slightly older man was clearly a bit uncomfortable with this subject. So instead of asking for more information immediately, Ken decided to reaffirm what Charles said.

"So... you're saying you saw a kid duel Tenjo, and Tenjo dropped dead right after? Did you happen to get a clear look at them or any sort of distinguishing features they had? I kind of want to duel him myself..." Ken said, trailing off slightly as he voiced his intention to Charles. He had to admit, playing detective sort of made him feel cool... it was like he was an ace teen detective from one of his favorite manga! Giddily brushing off the thought for a moment though, he dwelled a bit more on Charles's story.

A duel. That's how this all happened, apparently. And there wasn't any evidence to disprove it either. It seemed farfetched, but it was all he had at the moment. That and the currently unknown kid. It wasn't the first time that people could be hurt from duels: He had heard stories from his dad about illegal dueling rings from way back, where people got hooked up to special shock machines and got hurt. But this was the first he head of death via dueling alone, with no special apparatuses. Maybe he'd stop by the police station later if the lead on the kid petered out, ask for some records of dueling accidents... or go to Arclight industries to see if there were any glitches in their D-Pads, whichever sounded more appealing. But for now, he just smiled gently at Charles, waiting for an answer.

He knew one thing though: After the day was over, he was going to take a loooong nap.

(Setsuna/Important Action.)

The blue light was the last thing Dominic saw, flinching a bit with his boxing stance half-way completed and frozen in place. Then black. His entire body stopped, his once fiery passion in his soul had ceased in the second the masked girl had decided it to.

The block of ice he was cased in was thawing as Setsuna rolled it, the ground breaking bits and pieces as it went along. The slamming of the rock started to crack the ice around his face and chest, and the area around his legs were following behind at a slower pace. The block started to break faster the more it sat in the sun and the hits it constantly took. His arm eventually came free, but fell limp to the ground, his legs doing the same. Further melting and breaking continued, his face and chest free, and his breathing eventually resumed. His body was halfway freed in scattered locations due to Setsuna's wild hitting, with his arms and parts of his legs still incased, but most of his core was freed and he was slowly gaining consciousness.

Dominic's eyes kept shut, but he could hear someone's voice echo in his mind, it was Setsuna's and he was sure of it. "Crying? Why? What, am I doing..? What am I.. Doing?!" The frequent pounds on the ice helped him regain the flames inside of him, albeit rather small for the time being. As he entered full consciousness, the feeling of cold washed over him as his body picked up its functions. Slowly opening his eyes, the first thing he focused on was Setsuna, second was the rock she held and about to slam down.

"H-HOLD IT!"

{Important Action - Zander, Roy and Monika}

"I think it's important we don't let on much. Just try to keep cool." Paul whispered back to Monika. He returned to his normal speaking voice, trying to put on his best cool and collected disposition as he addressed Ayatane. "I'm not sure what to believe at this point, man. Lots of crazy stuff's been goin' on lately, it seems..."

Hopefully that was enough to convince the guy. Still, he wasn't too sure if he had said too much... or not enough.

Zander wasn't exactly ready to loosen up. While he had the patience for his peers to get their say, as soon as they were finished, he was ready to go. "I mean, if you're truly innocent, then I don't exactly understand why it would be hard to tell us why you're here. Things will probably be better if you just comply, Mr. Ayatane."

[Dominic/Important Action]

"HOLD IT!" A shout from beneath Setsuna reached her as she was about to smash the rock again.

She stopped the rock in mid-air and looked below her to see that she had at least broken the ice above his chest and face. He should at least able to breathe fairly normally at this point.

A wave of elation washed over the flower girl as she saw this and she set down her hands on which the palms were covered with a large number of cuts due to her firm grip on the rock. The not-so-athletic girl took the opportunity to exhale deeply after the intense amount of exercise.

"Thank goodness," she gasped with her face still covered in sweat and tears. "Thank goodness you're alright."

She took a few more breaths before picking the rock back up and moving to his arms. "Hold on a bit longer. I still need to free your extremities."

Setsuna began to make finer and more pinpointed movements as she repeatedly hammered at the ice surrounding his arms and legs. "So just hang on. I will get you moving again in no time."

The fear was no longer there. Instead, she now had a determined smile plastered to her face. After all, the biggest danger had already passed.

"One more thing," she said. "I'm sorry for dragging you that way and causing this mess. I was too careless."

Last Recap Post of this topic!

DarkLight, Tails, Dobby, Omega

"How unusual. So many people are talking to me today, first that archeologist, and now a group of high schoolers."

Says Lisa who, as she always does, is blatantly ignoring more or less everything you said to her, and merely thinking aloud.

"People always talk to me when something happens, I wonder why? It's not like I know everything about death just because I always dress in black... Maybe if I was less reliable thy would leave me alone? But I don't really like being alone either, so maybe I should kep on beeing reliable... Oh, but that archeologist knew more about the dead professor than I do, if these nice high schoolers were to find that out, they would probably leave me alone anyway to look for him. Although they wouldn't find him today, he already left and it's getting late... But he did say he would come back here tomorrow, so maybe they could just return. Maybe I will return, too."

And just like that, the enigmatic child leaves. Now it is really getting late, so you decide not to investigate forther... But come to think of it, she did provide you some valuable information, albeit in her own unique way...

Tacos, SilverJakler, Cyaloom, ExLink

Ayatane smiles, your determination seems to have persuaded him.

"Very well, it would seem all of you got involved in this case with the noblest intentions, so I have no reason to lie to you."

He reaches for his pocket and extracts a Duel Monsters card, which he shows to you.

"This is Number 12: Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja. It is one of the 108 mysterious cards that have recently appeared in Heartland: they weren't manufactured by any of the companies in town, and in fact each of them is unique. I honestly don't know where they came from, but I do know they are not normal cards, I would go as far as to claim that merely possessing one grants even the most ordinary human some extraordinary powers. Professor Tenjo was a childood friend of mine: unbeknownst to everyone, he was investigating the sudden appearance of these cards, and he was killed for it. I won't lie to you: I have come here not to help apprehend the perpetrator, but rather to exact revenge on them with my own two hands, as my personal code of honor demands. To this end, I purposedly allowed myself to fall into darkness, obtaining the power of one of the 108 cards myself. And let me be perfectly clear on this: I have no intention of leaving the perpetrator to you, or to anyone else for that matters; the police will never manage to piece things together because they would never believe in the supernatural aspect of this case, and even if you did find the perpetrator and bring them to justice, the police would still be unable to formally accuse them of anything, because of the inevitable lack of tangible evidence. Therefore, I demand that you leave the matter to me: I will track down the perpetrator, and make sure they pay the rightful price for their actions. If you stand in my way, I will consider you but another obstacle to be removed. Now if you will excuse me..."

And as he speaks his final words, a blinding light erupts from the card he is holding: surprised, you cover your eyes... And when you regain your vision, Ayatane has disappeared!

It is getting late, so you have no choice but suspend the investigation for today, but you did obtain some invaluable information from Ayatane...

DMK and Red

Margaret smiles yet again.

"I believe you are familiar with the legend about the creation of Japan, are you not? The two gods who gave birth to this country were the god Izanagi and the goddess Izanami. They got along very well, but one day Izanami died giving birth to Kagutsuchi, the god of fire: extremely saddened by this, Izanagi left for the land of dead, in order to bring Izanami back. He made his way to Yomi, the dark world: there, Izanagi asked Izanami, who had become a dweller in that land of shadows, to come back with him to the land above. The goddess replied by saying that she would negotiate with the god of the underworld, and asked Izanagi to wait for her: however, Izanagi became curious to know what was going on, so he broke his promise and set his comb alight to look around... And he saw Izanami, whose body was completely covered in filth and maggots! Terrified, Izanagi run away, but the enraged Izanami chased after him: after dodging the many demons sent after him, Izanagi reached the gate to the underworld and sealed it with a boulder, getting away unharmed. When Izanami reached the boulder and realized she was trapped inside, Izanagi bid her farewell: this is the curse known as the 'kotodo'. Curses beget curses, and Izanami said to the God: 'If you are going to treat me this way, I will kill 1000 humans in your world ever day!". To which Izanagi replied: 'Then I shall give birth to 1500 each day'."

Having finished her story, Margaret looks intently at the two of you.

"Why would I waste your time telling you an old myth? Well, a student of Heartland High School, who attends class 2-2, might know the answer. I am afraid our time is up for today".

And in fact, the speakers all around the park announce that the gates are going to be closed soon! You have no choice but to leave...

Jory and Azery

"Alright alright, no need to get so worked up over it! Well, I hope you enjoy your new Duel Gazers, please keep on supporting Arclight Industries! Now if you will excuse me, I need to go pick up my daughter at the beach..."

And with that, Arclight leaves. It's getting late, so you have no choice but go home for now... Oh but the sun is just starting to set on the bay, wouldn't it be romantic to enjoy the sunset with your girlfriend? :P

Commander and Pixl

As soon as "magic cards" are mentioned, Professor Eppes lets out a scream and runs away! You are taken aback by such a behaviour, but as you are starting to give chase, you hear the speakers of Heart Park in the distance, announcing that the park is closing... And you realize just how late it is! You have no choice but to leave the investigation to another day... Maybe you could ask somebody about more info on Eppes tomorrow at school?

Chimchain

Jack looks at you suspiciously.

"Look, I know that sometimes there are things it is better not to know, so I won't ask any questions. But for the time being it would be better for you to leave, it is getting late, and I wouldn't want to be you if you were anywhere near Adam when he comes back to his senses. So yeah, just go, I'll take care of him myself..."

Jack has basically kicked you out of the Bootleg: it is indeed getting late, so you better go back home...

Kaito

Charles seem to be grateful to you for listening to him without judging him, and is genuinely happy that you believe him.

After repeating his story, he slowly moves the conversation on other topics, and offers you something to drink... But you realize that it is getting really late, so you decide to leave for the time being.

Your investigation has ended for today, but you did obtain some incredible information from Charles...

Hiss and Zechs

With the help of Setsuna, Dominic manages to break free from the icy prison. In doing so, however, you don't realize how close to one another you are getting... And now you are basically in each other's arms, the sun is setting over the bay, just like that the mood is set! It is very late, you should be going home now, but...

Ok, this concludes the After School topic. Untill the next At School topic is posted (which will happen at 21 GMT+1) you are free to further interact with the others here, to discuss what has transpired, describe your reactions, or just kiss your girl in the warm light of the sunset. However, since there shall be no more Recap Posts in this topic, PLEASE REFRAIN FROM ADDRESSING AND/OR INTERACTING WITH NPCS, AND/OR POSTING ANY OTHER SORT OF IMPORTANT ACTION.

An archaeologist. Now this was Klives ballcourt. An Archaeologist xe could at least hold an informed conversation with. Xe had to refrain from chasing down the almost infuriatingly unresponsive Lisa. Xe could understand of not wanting to speak, xe really could, but was it really this annoying?

"Please tell me the rest of you got that. Rene, we may have a lead to verify that ridiculous shadow game theory...." Klive said to the group behind xem as xe watched Lisa go. Of course Klive hadn't noticed Arial or Deans arrival. xe was more focused on Lisa at the time. If one of them spoke up now he most definitely would be surprised....

I swear to god,for the owner of Arclight industries he's such an infuriating man. Charlotte turned to glance at Arthur before speaking up. "At least we have one thing, that man is absolutely infuriating"Charlotte muttered before she realized the time, staying out this late wouldnt be a good idea and staying around with him was one thing she didnt want to do.

"I think I do," Rene said to Klive, "If that archaeologist has any clues that relates to what Arial and I found out the museum earlier today, it may piece together the shadow game theory even more, just like you think."

Rene paused momentarily to reflect on the day's events...from learning about Mr. Tenjo's death up until learning why he might have died in the first place. Based on what Rene knew right now, the whole shadow game theory might have some value as to why Mr. Tenjo died. Not knowing much else, this is what Rene had to bank on for now. However, he was open to the possibility of other reasons why he died.

"I can't say the shadow game theory is the actual reason behind Mr. Tenjo's death, but it's at least something for us to start with. I do doubt any normal reasons as to why he died, given the conditions that he was found under. However, that doesn't mean that those reasons could still hold some truth. At least we know something, unlike..."

Rene fell silent as he immediately remembered the very reason why his family had left his old home in the first place. This wasn't Rene's first time experiencing a death in his life. Just over a year ago, Rene had been comfortably living with his family just like most other families would be. He had a home and a very good relationship with his family. Things were great until a very dark and dreary day. It had happened all of a sudden as the events of that day started to flash before Rene's eyes....

*Cue flashback*

It was a warm, sunny evening and Rene was helping his parents cooking dinner. They were to have fried chicken with a heaping load of mashed potatoes and gravy, biscuits, and some other vegetables as well. Rene enjoyed this meal very much and would often become very animated whenever he had it. What made things even better was that his cousin, Jack, and his uncle were over for dinner that night. Grant it Rene can be shy and not as outgoing as some others, but he does enjoy the company of his friends and family more than anything. After the meal had been cooked, everyone sat down to eat at the dining room table. Rene had sat right across from Jack and together they had a race to see who could devour a piece of chicken first. Jack had just beaten Rene by a second before throwing his hands in the air in victory.

Rene chuckled after swallowed his final bite, but Jack's loud shout had attracted the attention of his parents and uncle. They told them both to keep it down and just eat, but they knew that both boys got along very well with each other. Jack was almost like his brother in a sense that they were able to have a great family relationship and also duel with each other frequently. Anyway, about a half an hour had passed and dinner was finished. Everyone began to help clean up dinner whether it would be cleaning the pans, emptying the garbage, or resetting the table. Shortly afterwards, the two boys were planning on having a duel with one another and they wanted the adults to watch. Rene's parents and uncle agreed and wanted to see how the two were coming along in not only their dueling skills, but also their relationship with each other.

At the start of their duel, Jack said to Rene, "You have a new deck you want to try out?"

"I do," Rene replied, "I like what the cards do a bit more than just using random cards together."

That said, both Jack and Rene began their duel. It was a back and forth contest with both of them giving it their all. Rene had just started using his Scrap deck for the first time before this duel. He was still unfamiliar with the combos the deck had to offer, but Rene was determined to master them. The duel raged on with both Jack and Rene giving it their all with each turn they had. Some time had passed and it was Jack's turn. Jack was at a mere 250 LP while Rene was at 700 LP. Rene currently had a Scrap Dragon out on the field while Jack had nothing. Jack had just drawn his card and realized that it would turn things around. Just before he could play it however, there was a loud noise nearby which almost nearly deafened everyone there...

No one knew where it exactly came from, but when everyone could start to hear again they thought to return to the house in case something terrible was happening. But just as they were starting to go inside, Jack collapsed to the ground. Jack had become motionless. Rene had noticed this and he shouted out to his parents and uncle to look at Jack. Everyone panicked and tried rushing him to the hospital. Upon their arrival, they noticed several other families who were also there for others who had been there for the very same reason. Luckily for everyone there, the hospital had very few patients and could spend their time helping those in need.

An hour had passed before a staff of doctors and nurses appeared before the families in the emergency room. They announced to all that every child that was brought forth to them was dead. After conducting several tests, they could not find an explanation as to why they were dead, including Jack. Rene started to burst into tears at that very moment and didn't want to accept the fact that Jack was dead. His parents, his uncle, and everyone else in the emergency room had joined in the sadness as well. It was rather unusual as to why this happened, but this wasn't the end...

Several days later, Rene's family had started to gather at a funeral home for Jack's wake. It was truly devastating for the family to be there, to look at Jack with no explanation as to why he died. It really hurt Rene the most considering how close the two were to one another. What made it worse was the fact that he and Jack were dueling too. At some point during the wake, Rene's uncle pulled him aside to talk with him. Rene's uncle wanted Rene to remember all of the good times the two had together and cherish those memories of Jack. To help him do so, Rene's uncle gave Rene Jack's favorite card, Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon. It was at this moment that Rene thought back to his final duel with Jack... 'This is how he was going to attempt to win...I don't know what card he drew that was going to let him summon this card, but I know Jack loved this monster much more than anything...'

It was at that moment that the very same noise that occurred that night repeated itself again. It nearly deafened everyone in the room, but just as everyone was able to start to hear again, many family members at the wake fell unconscious and died on the spot. This time, it wasn't just one person, but nearly half of Rene's entire family...including his uncle...A shocked face appeared on Rene as well as his parents and anyone else who was alive. Rene stood motionless as he was reliving a very familiar moment...

Rene's parents immediately grabbed him and bolted out of the funeral home. The rest of the family followed suit hoping to not end up like the rest of their family. Rene's family immediately went back to their house and his father declared that they had to get out of the city. The last thing they needed was for one of them to end up dead as many in the family were. Rene's father told Rene to grab whatever he could and meet them at the car in a few minutes. What they didn't know also was that many people in the city had died to the very same noise, yet Rene's family were the only ones who were wanting to get out. Rene quickly grabbed a few of his essentials, including his Duel Monsters deck. He quickly placed Dark Rebellion in his deck box and stormed off with his parents.

Rene and his parents quickly left with whatever they could and drove off hoping to get away from it all. They had come to the city of Heartland, a city far away from their home, and sought to start anew here. They even sold their own house to help them start a new life here, which for the most part has been peaceful. Every since that day, Rene has always kept the good and the bad memories close to heart. When he saw that Heartland was also a popular place for the game of Duel Monsters, he vowed to keep Jack's Dark Rebellion close at heart too. It was also at this time that Rene decided to utilize Xyz Monsters in his extra deck. It was a way for him to keep Jack close and use both of their dueling styles together: Synchro and Xyz... To even keep Jack closer, his parents gave Rene a custom D-Pad in the model of Scrap Beast on the outside, but unbeknownst to Rene, it could also be used in the form of Dark Rebellion too...

*end flashback*

Rene had closed his eyes and took several deep breaths. He started to relax a bit trying to focus on the situation at hand. He momentarily thought of Jack when relating the death of Mr. Tenjo to Jack's. It was strange how both of them died and yet there was never an answer to why Jack had suddenly collapsed and died. All Rene knows is the odd noise that rang out that night. Perhaps he'll find an answer one day, but he needed to deal with finding out what happened to Mr. Tenjo first. He then said to Dean, Arial, and Klive, "I wonder if anyone else knows something. I guess we'll find out tomorrow at school..."

Rene waited to see what the others might say before heading home for the night. It is definitely going to be an interesting one from here on out...

With Zander, Roy and Paul

Monika seemed very confused after Ayatane disappeared. "Ayatane had an unique card that gives extrahordinary powers, so he could be the mysterious duelist, but does this card have any relation to Illegal Duels? This case has supernatural aspects?" she thought, before arriving at the conclusion that it was very likely. "If people thought about Illegal Duels, maybe that's because they couldn't see big cuts or 'holes' caused by a gun. And now this Ayatane tells me that case is, in fact, 'supernatural'..."

After standing still there, she looked at her clock and declared: "I really have to go now, it's getting late and I need to go home. I'll see you tomorrow at school!" before skating away from Zander, Roy and Paul, going towards her home, which was (unluckily) failry far.

"What a day... I even felt like another person; this is not something I'd do all the time. Also, you don't see a strange man wearing a samurai costume in an alleyway, with an unique card that gives special powers and that came from nowhere everyday." she thought.

She took of the skates, and took a bus to come home, where she arrived when it was almost night.

Dean was surprised when she said the word archaeologist, she he took time think his facts from he has learned, "The professor that Adam said and now an archaeologist , now this is starting to get fun but I need to talk my classmates before doing anything else.' Dean responded " Tomorrow, during the lunch period, we will talk over our facts and maybe share some, but this "archaeologist" needs some theories. He proceeded to go home.

Arial watched in silence as Lisa left them; Lisa admitting that she was just lonely struck a sentimental chord within her since Arial, herself, also feels the same way outside of school. Her older brothers have all gone to dorm at different universities while her parents usually come home way past her bedtime, or they never came home at all. The pangs of nostalgia began to cloud her thoughts again; the green-eyed girl barely registered what was going on around her. Perhaps, Arial thought, she would come back to the beach tomorrow just to have an actual conversation with the lolita. Screw Johnson and illegal duels, a child shouldn't have to go through this...

"I'm coming back here tomorrow after class." Arial suddenly declared to Klive, Rene and whomever else was listening at that time. She then turned to face the blue saltwater and turned on her D-Pad, readying herself to draw. "You guys can leave if you want; I just need to some time to think alone." 'How ironic: I don't like being alone and yet I'm driving them out. Go figure...'

Klive would have left Arial alone before all this, Lord only knows how many times he wished some people actually would have left xem alone when xe asked, but as xe had recently found there was an advantage to being with people. That and even Klive could pick up on her tone. You don't leave people alone with their thoughts when they spoke like that. "To quote an old friend, people never know when they should and shouldn't be alone." Klive said as xe walked up to stand next to Arial. "I don't dare say i'm used to any kind of social interaction, let alone this, but maybe talking would help more than solitude?"

"I think I'll do the same," Rene said after hearing Arial declare she will come back tomorrow. He continued, "I'm curious as to what the archaeologist knows too. Also, if you need some time for yourself Arial, I'll give you your space. Have a good night everyone."

That said, Rene started to walk away from the beach, but he briefly stayed at a point just far enough just to make sure Arial was okay and not be on top of her at the same time. Rene wondered what could be going through Arial's mind, but it was probably in his best interest not to stick around and find out. He silently whispered to himself, "I hope everyone will be okay..."

Rene looked at this D-Pad once just to remember Jack. He continued, "I'll make sure I keep your spirit alive...I'll make sure you nor my friends stay close no matter what..."

Rene then walked off towards his house to get home for the night.

[Dominic]

Setsuna took a deep breath and sighed. The danger was finally over. She had a few cuts and bruises on her hands. Her face was feeling a bit weird due to the dried tears. But, Dominic was safe and it looked like there were no signs of hypothermia, surprisingly.

She looked down at him only to realize their position. It was at that moment that her face turned fully red and she realized what she had just done in her near frenzy.

She immediately stood up, waving her arms around. "HAUAUAUAUAU! I-I-III-I--It's getting late so I'll see you in school tomorrow, then! Make sure you get some rest!"

She had no clue what to say and she knew that this was going to leave him hanging but it was way too awkward. After all, even though he was a friend, he was still someone she had only even started talking to not even 12 hours ago. So, she got embarrassed and ran off eventually catching a bus back to the Central Square as soon as she got to the station.

Once she got home, she locked the door behind her and stood in the entranceway while leaning against the door. In the end, we got no information and were nearly killed.

She kicked off her shoes, put on the slippers and walked into the dark house. She eventually reached the phone in the living room and saw that her parents had left a message saying that they had to stay at work late due to unforeseen circumstances (as usual).

Setsuna slowly made her way to the medicine cabinet to put a large number of bandages where her hands were cut and made her way to the flowers on her windowsill to water them.

"I should probably apologize to him for leaving him hanging...and Arthur too..."

She sighed as she finished watering the flowers and sat down at her laptop. We never found the Johnson guy and now there's the girl with the mask and the ice powers…and I don't feel like leaving either lead unchecked. But the girl in the mask...she felt so...isolated... Her thoughts trailed off.

I want to know more about her. I want to be able to talk with her. She started tapping away at the keyboard while wincing every so often due to the pain from the cuts. So the first thing I need to do is find information. With someone as mysterious as her in the city, there are bound to be rumors and urban legends surrounding her. If I can find them and analyze them and their origins, I can narrow down some accurate information. She took a deep breath before continuing. Alright! Let's do this, then.

Arial summoned a Cyber Drei before she gave a wave to Rene. Then, she turned to Klive. Who would want to hear her ridiculous sob story? Arial was sure that the others could have suffered more than her; at least Arial has a fancy roof over her head every night. But Klive did bring up a good point; Arial was a socialite so, naturally, she would prefer express her thoughts to someone that would talk back. And yet, despite wanting to, Arial found herself stuck in the sand with a lump in her throat.

"... You're right, it does." Arial finally sighed, realizing defeat. "But a good philosopher has also said that there is a good time and place for everything. For me, it's not now." She gave a small smile to xem, slightly more cheerful than before. "Thanks for the concern, though. I appreciate it, really. Don't worry about me; these guys always had my back." With that, she summoned the regular Cyber Dragon, a Cyber Dragon Core, a Cyber Dragon Zwei and, finally, Cyber Dragon Infinity, who each roared as they appeared. Arial turned to face her pride and joy. "And I know they will always be behind me no matter what."

Feeling a bit defeated, Zander turned around with his head down and climbed onto his scooter. He didn't even offer a ride to any of his fellow students and began the drive home. Upon reaching a red light, he pulled out his D-Pad, contemplating sending a message to Arthur about what went down. He gazed into the red light for a minute, and couldn't help but see Ayatane's armor in it. He couldn't help but feel as if this couldn't be a lost cause. This card. I need it. Where else will I be able to start? Maybe I can talk to Anna about it tomorrow? Zander put his D-Pad back into his pocket, deciding not to message Arthur. He continued on his way home.

Now my Chronomaly on the other hand, I don't know if they will ever show up, or if they already have." Klive flashed one of xyr own cards in response, Chronomaly Crystal Chrononaut. "Anyway, i'm off. Ken waved goodbye to Charles as he left his house, leaving the tin of cookies with the other man as thanks for sharing his story. As Ken got on his motor scooter and proceeded to make the drive back to Sugar King, he started going over what he learned today in his head again.

" Man, today was a weird one. I mean, first off, I'm actually kind of motivated. Dad's been trying to instill a sense of work ethic in me since I was 5, and here I am actively trying to solve a murder case. I mean it's more physical labor that I avoid anyway, but my test scores aren't perfect either. I've been reading way too much of that detective manga... still. Maybe it'd be worth it to give this a shot. Maybe other people would want to join... like a detective gang. That'd be sorta cool..." Ken thought as he idly felt the wind on his face as he was speeding through the central square, a shortcut on the way home. He could see the police station up in the distance.

" The police station... if Tenjo died from a duel. I need more information. Maybe going there is worth a shot... get some records on duel related accidents. But then there's that kid Charles talked about. If he apparently killed someone from a duel... there's something going on. But what? And who is he?" Ken asked to himself, as he continued the drive to Sugar King in silence, a new determination set in his mind.
