Yu-Gi-Oh Roleplay Episode 1: Heartland Homicide [AFTER SCHOOL]

Just as Arthur was about to respond to Mister Arclight's question, his D-Pad buzzed. He looked down to check the message, confident that either one of the others could handle the conversation. He clicked the screen on and selected Zander's message, quickly reading it:

Alright, I've got some leads on Ike Johnson as well as Armor Guy. Apparently Ike is in town to cure an exhibit in the museum, as you know. He also seems to act suspiciously, looking over his shoulder and what not. He should be at the port right now. Since you're chasing Ike, I'll get Armor Guy. His name is Ayatane Michitaka and he apparently hangs out around the school. Seems suspicious enough to me, so I'm gonna head over there and see what's up.

Sounds good, he thought to himself. No need for a reply at this point. I'll update him when I can.

Central Square (Arial, Rene, Monika, Blair, Robert and Klive) / Important Action

"I'm going to go look for this strange duelist, and find out what he knows." He said bluntly to the group, "Whether or not you want to join me is your choice." He then left, hands in his pocket, towards the school. Maybe if he hurried he might be able to catch the culprit or at least get some more info. He preferred to be alone though he couldn't stop anyone if they decided to tag along.

Ken sighed. Charles obviously wasn't going to open up... but he really didn't want to lose the only lead he had. It would be less effort to just leave and forget about it, but... maybe a little bribery could work?

"Charles! Look, I'm not going to outright force anything. But I'm worried, alright? If you talk to me about what's going on, I'll offer free Sugar King sweets for a month. And I won't tell anyone about what happens here, okay?" Ken said, hoping that would get a response. "It's just between you and me, and then you can put it behind you for good."

Having reached the dock,Charlotte noticed Arthur being there and snorted. Him again...She thought before hearing Mr.Arclight's question."They're cool,really fancy aswell. I couldnt imagine how modern day dueling would be without them actually"Charlotte praised the Duel Gazer,they were rather usefull to have.

"Hey, I'll join you. I wanna look for this guy, too. Paul said as he tried to catch up with the boy. From what that girl said, it seemed like this man was the culprit, the one responsible for the death of Mr. Tenjo. Paul definitely wasn't going to give up this chance to find him. Once he caught up with him, he spoke up again. "Name's Paul, by the way. You are?"

"My....destiny? No. I won't end like Bedwyr. I shape my own future.'" thought Gawyn "She's probably just trying to confuse me more. Especially about the card." Standing up, but not wanting to give her any more information than necessary, he decided to play dumb. "What card? I doubt the knights are what you seek." he asked.

Important Action - With Paul and Roy

Monika skated towards Roy and Paul, who were going back to school to find that duelist Adams mentioned, and said "Could I join you? I was the first to hear this, after all...".

After saying goodbye to the other people, she kept talking with Roy and Paul. "Hello Paul, I am Monika." She told him. Then she turned to face Roy. " Did you actually Duel with the cop? Also, I hope you don't mind if I keep my Rollerblades on", she whispered with a slight smile, while they were headed to the school.

At the moment Dean realized he took the wrong path,he skated to the nearest bus stop to go his intended place which is the card shop. He took the time to try contact lane but for some reason, he wasn't answering. He assumed Lane was too busy to answer.

"A strange duelist around school?" Rene asked after hearing that from Roy. Rene began to wonder if that there was a strange duelist around school, then there would be any connections to Mr. Tenjo's death there. He turned to the rest of the group, "Do you think we should follow Monika, Roy, and Paul and give them backup should something happen?"

Klive shook xyr head at Renes suggestion. "Leave them to it, it'd be better to spread out and find more information. Like I said, i'd like to hunt down Arclight but the best way to do that now is to find someone who know the streets well." Klive couldn't readily name such people though. Again, the lack of sociability was a curse...

[[To Dominic, Important Action]]

As the band of four reached the dock area, they ran into Mr. Arclight doing his usual thing. In any other situation, she would be willing to give her opinion to the man and converse with him especially since he initiated. However, she gave a quick and apologetic bow to the man.

"I am sorry. However, I don't have the time to talk about the D-Gazer at the moment. If I don't hurry, I could miss the person I came to see."

Time was of the essence when tracking down a person without knowing exactly where they are. Each second that one did not know her target's location was another second that the target could be spending widening the gap. Right now, he was, to her, the end of a harrowing wild goose chase. If she was unable to meet him today, there was no telling if she would be able to meet him again afterwards. After all, he seemed to be in town to restore some artifacts for one of the museum's exhibits. There was a possibility that he would leave the next day. As such, it was imperative that she find him at all costs.

She then shot a quick glance at Dominic and made eye contact. At the next moment, she grabbed his hand and started to make a break for it.

"I guess you're right Klive," Rene said as he was overly concerned about his classmates possibly getting into trouble. He continued, "Splitting up again may not be a bad thing to track down more info. Arial or Blair, where do you think we can look for more info?"

{Central Square} - Important Action: Going to the Beach

"Yep." Arial agreed with Rene and Klive as Roy, Monika and someone else... Was it Paul?... made their way off in the direction of the high school. She then dropped her left arm from its dueling position, allowing her hologram to disappear, and started her scooter's engine. "Since they are already on that lead, and we have basically covered everything around here, I'm going to head over to the Beach to get some clues. It's a weird spot, but that's why someone could hide things there, right? Most would never bother looking in such a place." After she's seated on her scooter, she took off her black D-Pad and handed it over to Rene. "Also, might as well get each other's contact info just in case one of us bumps into Arclight, right?"

(To Central Square) Important Action: Go to Port

"Alright." Rene said as he gave Arial his D-Pad contact info. He would do the same for Klive and Blair as well. He then continued to the rest, "Since Arial is going to the beach, I think I'll head to the Port to see if anything is there. If anyone else wants to come, you're more than welcome to. If not, perhaps we can check out the entire east side of Heartland City and let each other know if anything pops up."

He pauses for a moment before saying, "I'll call all of you if I find out anything or run into Mr. Arclight. If I don't, I'll probably make my way between the Port and Beach area next. Then, if that yields nothing, I'll meet up with everyone else elsewhere."

That said, Rene tried to find the nearest bus stop that would take him and anyone who would go with him towards the Port.

[Central square/Important action]

"I'll join you at the port." Klive said to Rene. The ports were a decent place to find information. All the stories and stereotypes spoke of speakeasy sailors ready to gossip when they can. Maybe they'd be true this time. Klive quickly wrote xyr information down and handed it to Arial. Contact details are there, give to anyone relevant. Or don't, i'm hardly bothered." With that Klive grabbed their bike. "Ready to go Rene?"

[Red_Chaos]

As Red turned around the corner, she could see a roller coaster zoom by with scream kids. She was here, Heartland Park. As Red walked through the entrance, she saw a group of students. "Aren't those my classmates?...Maybe I should walk over and ask..."

*Grrrrr* Red's stomach had a different idea.

"O Right. I'm here to eat." Red then turned left down the road towards the food. From her left to her right, food stands of different kinds filled the streets. From Alligator bites to cotton candy, anything you could have wished for was there. Red finally stopped at a pizza stand and ordered two slices of pepperoni pizza and one large cup of Ski. She then found a table and started to inhale her food. The taste of cheese melted in her mouth and satisfied her hunger. After Red finished, she began to slow slip her ski and think about her day. She still couldn't figure out why she ended up in the garden or how she received a blank card.

"I may never figure this out....."

At DragonMasterKrim or important action

After staring at the card for about 15 minutes, Red decided to walk around the park and check out all that Heartland had to offer. Walking down the park again, Red noticed a small tent with a sign out front. The sign said, "Fortune Teller, five dollars per visit". "Well, lookie here. Seems like if i play five dollars I can have my fortune told. Wonder if she can go backwards and tell me about the past..." As Red tried to decided if she should enter or not, she noticed that somebody was in the building already. "Hm, guess I should wait and see what happens with the other customer. Im pretty sure that is a professor from school..."

*Waits for DragonMasterKrim to finish*

The bus had stopped at the shop. Dean got off the bus and entered inside the shop. There was nobody in sight except the owner, Mr. Takeda. Dean walked over to the counter where Takeda was.

Zander slowed down as he was arriving near the school. I don't want to go too fast, or else I might scare the guy, or even worse, completely miss him. He started to make his way around the building in search of Ayatane. He pulled some sunglasses out of his pocket and put them on, as well as pulling up his blue hoodie in hopes that Ayatane wouldn't recognize him immediately if Zander were to find him.

[Zechs]

(Setsuna/Important Action.)

Dominic bowed a bit at introductions, and felt an extreme sense that they were somewhat close to figuring this out. "Sounds good. I've found some stuff out I forgot to mention in my message." Before he could continue, Mr. Arclight showed up with an enthusiastic demeanor,. "Hah! Mr. Arclight! Yes, the-!" His words were yanked short by Setsuna's pull on him, but the next second they were running off and away.

"Wh- Where are we going, exactly?" Cutting a gaze forward from behind her, he didn't need to further his questioning when he saw they were heading toward the beach. "I see, now. We better hurry, then!" Picking up his pace he tucked his fists in and up near his face as he ran next to Setsuna. "I wonder if the others will tag along, as well.." Sighing and simply hoping they'd meet up again, he focused back forward and the two both headed to the beach.

Arthur glared after the two who'd run off and left him with that girl. He glowered and rolled his eyes as she spoke, neither caring what she had to say nor wanting to hear it. I just want to investigate this one thing and she has to go and show up everywhere, he thought mirthlessly. "I like the product, but I wish the D-Pads had their own line of paint. Some of them don't take well to the factory finish," he added. No reason to let a personal grudge get in the way of scientific progress, he thought to himself.

The duel rages on, the guy uses a combination of low-level Rock-type monsters that seem to be geared towards shutting down whatever you try to do... You try to question him while you duel, but to no avail: he seem to be in some sort of berserk state, screaming that the power he obtained will protect him from the likes of you!

And suddenly you feel it... An enormous pressure, a sensation you cannot describe with words, as he overlays his Neo-spacian Grand Mole and his Gorgonic Guardian to summon a monster you have never seen before!

You are quicky overwhelmed by it, apparently monsters cannot destroy it in battle, and it has 3000 Atk points to boot: but when you are about to give up, a soft, soothing light erupts from your Extra Deck case! You feel a reassuring feeling, you feel calm and collected out of a sudden: you overlay your Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite and your Harpie Harpist to summon Number 39: Utopia!

Utopia is still unable to overcome Acid Golem, but it has an effect that allows you to negate its attacks: soon enough, Adam runs out of overlay units on its Number, and then its own rawbacks kick in, drawing his very life points! You have nothing to do but wait for him to self-destruct!

Chimchain won the battle!

And as Adam collapses on the ground, your hand moves on its own: you reach for him, as if to offer him an helping hand, and a small light exits his body an lands on your palm, turning into the mysterious card he used earlier! And as the card materializes in your hand: you once again feel that burning pain in your head, another vision is once again burned deep in your mind. You see blue flames like the one that surrounded the two of you during your duel, engulfing the entire city: soon, huge shadows emerge from the flames, and then all you hear are the screams of the civilians as they are slaughtered...

Chimchain obtained Izanami Lore #30: "The world will soon be enveloped in shadows and destroyed"!

And just like that, everything disappears: the vision, the flames, everything. You are alone in the alleyway, Adam is on the ground and seems in pain... He also seems to be pretty confused.

"W-where am I? W-what was I...?"

What will you do?

Commander and Pixl

"Professor Eppes was here earlier, he went about his usual rambling for a while, then he said something about a gloom shadow lingering above Heart Park... I think that's where he went!"

Commander and Pixl obtained info: "Eppes is at Heart Park"!

What now?

You get to the school area: you immediately realize that there is an alleyway right behind the main building where nobody ever goes, you just walk by it every day when going to school. A suspicious guy would probably lurk there... But as you are pondering these things, you spot the group of Cyaloom, SilverJakler and ExLink, who are coming from Central Square. They don't seem to have spotted you yet, what will you do? Will you approach them, or will you go investigate the alleyway by yourself?

As for you guys, please make another post each describing your arrival in the area. You can spot Tacos, but only after he has posted (if one of you guys posts before Tacos, you cannot say "I spot Tacos"). Planning your next move between the four of you would be ideal.

Charles opens a tiny chink in the door, but doesn't let you in.

"I... Really, I don't think I should... Can I trust you with a secret? Will you tell it anyone?"

He is acting strangely childish... WHat will you do?

Jory and Azery

"Yes, yes, you are both right! Our products are great, but they could still improvement! This is why I have developed these!"

He reaches for a pocket and shows you 3 Duel Gazers: they look different from those you have, much more advanced in fact!

"These are prototypes of our new line of Duel Gazers: those two people who run away made a big mistake, because today I am feeling generous! I will give these to you as a gift, one each!"

As you both pick one prototype Duel Gazer each, he puts on the third one.

"So, my young friend, will you duel me to see how incredible duels look when using our new, extraordinary product? And your girlfriend can follow the duel by putting on her own, so she will get a taste of greatness too!"

It looks like he won't let you go untill you duel, what will you do?

1) "SHE'S NOT MY GIRLFRIEND!"

2) "I am always up for a duel, bring it on!"

3) "Uh... Can't she duel instead?"

Zechs and Hiss

You leave Arclight and your friends behind, and you start investigating the docking area.

After a good while when nothing relevant happens, you reach a solitary area behind a container stockage... And you see a strange girl. She is sitting on the ground, facing the other way (she hasn't seen you yet), and her body is shaking violently, as if she is in pain... Or maybe she is crying?

Anyway, you cannot just leave her there, what will you do?

1) "Excuse me, are you ok? Want us to call for help?"

2) "Uh... Hallo? We don't mean to be nosy but... Why are you crying?"

3) "I have a bad, bad feeling about this..."

DMK and Red

"I am talking about Number 104: Masquerade"

Says the fortune teller named Margaret, as if it's the most natural thing in the world.

"Please show it to me, professor. I am sure our audience would be curious to see it as well. Isn't it right, miss Plains?"

Apparently, the fortune teller knows Red is here: now you have tons of different options. DMK can overreact to being told that someone was overhearing and Red can run away, or she can just walk in and he can show the card... Please plan your next move between the two of you. Some major stuff is going to happen.

I think I have addressed everybody. People from the square who are headed towards the port/beach, please try to buy some time: there are people them who are in the middle of events, I'd need them to be done before letting you get involved... Ir I can just make sure they stay in the port and you all go to the beach, your call. Just don't interfere with ongoing events please.

{Roy, Monika, Paul} [important Action]

Zander stopped in front a peculiar alleyway that he never noticed hid behind the main building. This is suspicious. I have no doubts that Ayatane would be here. Out of habit, Zander checked his immediate surroundings, making sure that there was nothing dangerous around him. He turned back to the alleyway, deciding there was nothing dangerous around, but suddenly did a double take after seeing some people heading towards the school. He squinted through his sunglass and saw it was Roy, Monika, and Paul. What are they doing here? How would they know about Ayatane? Zander thought they were still a bit far away, and he assumed they hadn't seen him. I don't have time to waste. They're probably going the same way I am anyway. If I wait any longer, anyone who may still be in the school is in immediate danger. Not to mention, I'll look like a complete hero if there's any cute girls in there. Zander looked back away from the group and threw himself against the wall of the alleyway, trying his best to conceal himself even with the vibrant blue hoodie, and began to slide down the alleyway.

{Important Action!}

Arthur's face darkened. "SHE'S NOT MY GIRLFRIEND!" he complained petulantly. He then took a deep breath, doing his best to compose himself. I guess it couldn't do any harm, he thought. The blue-haired youth put on his new Duel-Gazer, impressed at how much lighter it felt on his head than the older model. "These seem like a big improvement over the old ones," he noted. "I'm always up for a quick match, though. Especially against such a famous opponent! It's time to duel!" he said enthusiastically as he activated his D-Pad. The field slots shot out of the main body and Arthur took his Deck out of its holster on his hip, slamming it home into its slot. "I'm ready when you are."

[[Dominic/Important Action]]

The girl was sitting there. She was definitely trembling violently. Setsuna ended up stopping in her tracks right behind her.

What am I doing? Every second I am not going after that Johnson guy is a second he could possibly be using to get further away. She crossed her arms and furrowed her brow for a second. "Muuuu-mu."

Dammit, empathy. You win this time. She reached forward to the trembling girl. "Excuse me...miss? Are you alright? Do you need any help?"

Stupid conversation initiation awkwardness.

Prior to arriving at the port, Rene took Klive's contact info should anything arise in their search. Upon arriving at the port, Rene looked around to see how expanse it is compared to some other places in Heartland. He then turned towards Klive and said, "Sometimes things always seem bigger when you're looking for smaller things...I imagine some of our classmates have probably come by here already, but that doesn't mean that we can't look ourselves."

Rene wanted to look around the port, but he wanted to look closer towards the beach area towards the end of his search. He knew there were a few students going towards the beach and Rene thought that they might have a better shot at finding things there if the search party covered more ground. He turned to Klive and calmly said, "How about we check between the Port and the Beach? The more ground we cover, the better of a shot we might find something."
