helix
i have complete the current episodes i must say this publicly: better than anything that gamefreak could muster. you have given us what all us gen one fans wanted for a long time. coming on the train i see myself either have done something to condemn me to death; a vetern trainer who have either lost his way, faith, etc. or a trainer who in this dark world had to do something unforgivable to himself, his home, and his faith in whatever he held dear. the world felt like "this is the final days". possibly of pokemon, humans, the world, and/or the trainer himself. the whole pulse device pressed even my best skills to the test. the gym leaders sisters arc made me lose sleep: the thought of me abandoning them as the trainer was unforgivable; i didnt feel i needed to i wanted to with all my heart and soul. if i have a choice to off Flynn he is getting red shirted fast. terra i felt sad for: she was the kid wearing clown makeup while crying like a child with no end inside. i felt sorry for her. same with the water gym leader. luna the same as terra: the person who wants to be anyone but herself. she sees herself among the darkness never allowing anyone to see her. and to make matters worse is eli. calling hax on him. all i am saying is this; i am recording it when i red shirt him. before i start to rant i am going to cut it off here and i hope i didnt spoil anything. i thank you for a great game and great platform for a great personal fanfic. madf0x
Yup even better is a lot of characters and events are based/inspired by real people and things that happened in their lives. Cain, Corey, Heather, etc are real I didnt get the same protag has a dark past feeling you did, but hey we are all free to imagine our own pasts! helix
well, the way i do is the same as the anime in a way except i see the character getting older and wiser as i do. with this series i see it as more darker toner so the character has to have a reason to be here. also, the whole motive behind to the train explosion was never explained so this either they are cutting everyone off from leaving( which is weird considering a few times team meteor wants people to leave) or they didnt want whatever was on the train there. till, they it is explain i am just fanfic'ing it as they wanted the character. i didnt know that some of the characters were based on real people. though, it does not surprise me: some of the best works were based on real people. the great gatsby is one that comes to might. madf0x
Hated the Great Gatsby, but oh well. I think blowing up the train was to prevent further immigration. As for the reason youre there I always figured it was because you were a known trainer that got requested to come to Reborn City to help the league organizer Ame fix some of the city's issues. Im pretty much basing it on the opening when Ame says that if your coming to Reborn it must be because you are a strong trainer and strong trainers flock to Reborn. That being said, you could be right as well. Both you(presumably a known trainer of sorts) and Ame herself were on the train. If Meteor managed to kill both of you it would greatly help them out. Sapphire
better than anything that gamefreak could muster. Lolwut. Reborn is good, but it's nowhere near THAT good.

Elios
Pleashe itsh the besht. I mean graphic wishe no, but when looking at the plot and charactersh and dialoguesh all that other shtuff, itsh wow. Yeah, I agree, when the game has a fabulous and deep story as Pokemon Reborn, the graphic stuff is the less important thing. Anyways, the graphics of the game are really good in my opinion. madf0x
GameFreaks graphics are better only because they have two decades developing The Pokemon Style.
Kithros
GameFreaks graphics are better only because they have two decades developing The Pokemon Style. That's not really true - they have better graphics because they have vastly more resources available to them. They have way more people working on the games. Personally, I'd rather have a finished version of pokemon reborn than one of GameFreak's pokemon games, so in that sense it could be considered 'better' than those games, however, as a standalone game Pokemon Reborn just wouldn't work (Pokemon Reborn relies on the actual pokemon games in that Pokemon Reborn assumes people already know how to play the game, and the difficulty curve would be way out of whack as a standalone game etc.). This game would be a disaster if anyone who wasn't already familiar with Pokemon tried to play it, so it wouldn't really be fair to compare it to the official pokemon games where they don't have the luxury of assuming people know what they're doing. It's aimed at a different demographic (that I happen to be a part of) than the official games.
madf0x
Well yeah thats exactly what I mean by two decades of experience. I think the real value of Reborn is that its fills a niche that Game Freak can never fill. It appeals to more mature pokemon fans that simply arent GF demographic. Im just glad nintendo is going for blood after fan games
Monochrome_Complex
Reborn is better than gen 6 and 1(though kind of unfair to say lol) admittedly.
Sapphire
The plot's better yes, but imo when saying if a game is 'better', you need to take everything into account-graphics, mechanics, extra stuff and all. How is it better than gen 6? (Poor gen 1)
Developers Samtale Posted March 26, 2015 Developers Share Posted March 26, 2015 well, the way i do is the same as the anime in a way except i see the character getting older and wiser as i do. with this series i see it as more darker toner so the character has to have a reason to be here. yeah I also see characters that way as this game reminds me of pokemon adventures manga. PsychoticPudu
I still dream of the day when Gamefreak remakes the game with their own graphics and releases it on the WiiU eShop.
helix
my thing about it is this: with gamefreak it seems they are making changes in their games but the story always seems.....lacking. i didnt place much effort in the story on alot of the games. gen 2 i liked when i was a kid but the remakes just didnt have anything extra that stuck with me. gen 3 bout the samethey tried alittle but i loved the pokemon in it as well as the layout. gen 4 fell through with me. all in all. with reborn i got all i need: big map, lots of pokemon, and a good story that gets me invested. Monochrome_Complex
Gen 3's villain motives were just too stupid. ORAS made this a little better but jamming a rocket down a volcano? lol get outta here. Gen 4 was the first time I felt the story was actually serviceable and the villains while kind of dumb legitimately felt dangerous by the end(Cyrus was pretty cool). HGSS kind of screwed up by under-utilizing Mewtwo(would've been perfect for a post-gamestory)and the rocket admins while more fleshed out still kind of feeling lacking(archer = worst main villain. Guy has zero presence or charisma). Gen 5 had the best story. Gen 6 had the worst team yet and a weak cast. So much wasted potential here. Sapphire
Gen 4 didn't screw up with Mewtwo. Canonically, Mewtwo was caught in gen 1 and wasn;t even there in Gen 2-the whole cave had collapsed and all you could get was the Beserk gene. The remakes just stuck him there so people without Gen 3 could get him for Pokédex Completion.
