Knight
Let me know what you think!
The sun was shining high over the main stadium of the Indigo Plateau. The stands were filled with thousands of roaring fan; all itching to witness the fiercest trainers the world had to offer do battle. And to see what one trainer would rise to greatness to become the Champion. The League President, Charles Goodshow, stood high above the field next to the official League torch. “I welcome you all to this year’s Pokémon League! Now we call upon the spirit of Moltres to mark the beginning of our tournament!” The torch was lit, and the games began. Trainers had come from all over the world to be in this year’s competition. And it was all because of one man: R. Xela. He was known throughout Kanto as the Titian of the Sevii Trainer Tower, and he held the longest winning streak of any Trainer Tower, with 500 wins in a row. When Xela announced his participation in the Indigo League trainers from each and every region stepped up to challenge the greatest streak in Pokémon history. As the Moltres flame burned so did the eyes of a young trainer from Hoenn. In his signature red shirt and brown cargo pants, Chris, the son of Sandgem Twon, stood proudly near the middle of the mass of trainers in the main stadium. The cheering crowd excited him as he adjusted his skull cap, and Chris’ blood began to boil with expectations. As Mr. Goodshow continued to address the audience, Chris couldn’t help but to size up some of the other trainers. To his left was a spiky haired boy that seem like he was about Chris’ age, being 17 himself. His hair was black with blue tips, and the boy was wearing a white collar shirt with deep blue jeans. Chris could see that he was wearing what appeared to be a wet suit under his clothing because the boy wore his shirt open. Pegging the kid off as weird, Chris turned his attention toward to front of the crowd of trainers. He saw a man in formal attire standing at the front of his row. “That’s him ya’ know,” said the boy in the white shirt. “Ron Xela.” Chris’ expression changed. What was once excitement had now evolved into pure determination. “I wonder if the rumors about his Pokémon are true,” Chris responded. “It doesn’t matter,” said the boy, “At the end of this tournament I’ll be the one who becomes Champion.” “You seem so confident. I hope it’s not you downfall,” Chris mocked as Goodshow finished his speech. The boy simply smiled and proceeded to march out with the other trainers. Chris followed the crowd of trainers back to the locker rooms. They were each assigned a locker to hold their belongings during battles. There was nothing in his locker yet, but Chris thought checking it out would be a good excuse to meet more of his competition. Chris had been assigned locker 37 in room B. When he walked through the door he was astounded at the number of trainers inside, all of which seemed to glare in his direction as he entered. The ominous stares motivated Chris to quickly find his locker, which was located to the back of the room. As he walked toward his locker, Chris noticed that he was stepping in an unusual trail of sand. He followed it to his locker, and saw that it ended under the feet of the trainer who had apparently been assigned locker 38. The trainer was slightly shorter than Chris. He was taking off a rather large cotton cloak that revealed his normal clothing. He was wearing a brown shirt and black cargo pants. The boy had an unusual tan, so Chris assumed that he couldn’t have been from Kanto. “You sure like to make a mess of things, huh Kid?” said Chris while he pretended to search for something in his locker. The boy didn’t respond. “Maybe the janitors will make you clean it up yourself,” he joked. “Only because they’ll be too busy cleaning your Pokémon off the arena floor,” the boy said under his breath. “What the hell did you just say to me, Kid?” snapped Chris. The boy closed his locker without a word and proceeded to walk out of the room. Chris, infuriated, followed him outside. When he finally caught up to the sand tracker, Chris noticed that the boy was, coincidently, staying at the same hotel he was. And after losing him in the lobby crowd, Chris decided to go up to his room to prepare for tomorrow. As he made his way to the elevator he ran into the boy he met during the opening ceremony. The boy introduced himself as Jacob. As their conversation went on Chris found out the Jacob was from Mossdeep City. Chris was relieved to know that he met someone from Hoenn. As they stepped into elevator they began to discuss the competition. “So which block are you in, Chris?’ “B block. And yourself?” “C block, with Xela.” “Well I guess I’ll just let him take you out then,” Chris said as the doors began to close. “Hold the elevator!” yelled a voice. Jacob swiftly pressed the button that opened the doors, and a young boy rushed in. Jacob and Chris could tell that the boy had been running because he proceeded to lean against the elevator walls. He took many deep breaths before speaking. “Thanks,” said the boy as he caught his breath. “So what’s your name, kid?” asked Chris. “My name is Mark,” he replied. Jacob gave the boy a once over. He was wearing a black shirt with black pants, and a silver belt. His jet black hair was pulled back into as if it had been submerged in sliver. Mark was carrying a small handheld device that his light green eyes barely looked away from. “I’m Jacob; this is Chris. Are you here for the competition as well?” asked Jacob Mark nodded at Jacob, and then looked at Chris. He stared at Chris as if he knew him. But Chris ignored Mark and continued his conversation with Jacob. The elevator lights suddenly began to flickered, as the three trainers looked around in shock. The small steal box stopped just short of the seventh floor, and the three trainers in it knew they were in trouble. “What the hell is going on,” yelled Chris. “Don’t panic,” said Jacob. “I’m sure maintenance will have us out soon after we push the help button.” However, Jacob quickly realized that they were in a bigger bind than he originally thought. When he reached to push the emergency button it sunk into the steal and faded away. Jacob took a step back. He couldn’t believe what he had just seen. “Something wrong?” asked Mark. “The button…” “Yeah, I saw it too,” said Chris. The three of them began to feel the elevator slip. It dropped down a floor making each trainer seem weightless until they came in contact with the floor of the box once more. The three of them heard the sound of the cables beginning to slip again. Chris fell to the floor while Jacob trusted his cell phone toward the roof of the elevator. “Why can’t I get a signal?” he yelled. “Calm down!” shouted Mark “We’ll be alright,” Mark said while reaching in his pocket. He produced a Poké Ball. “D-Tech, I need your help,” Mark said while releasing his Metang. The pokémon took up a lot of space in the elevator, but since Chris was sitting down Metang could float freely. “What exactly are you going to do, Mark?” asked Chris. “Just watch,” Mark responded. “D-Tech I want you to use Psychic to take us back to the first floor.” D-Tech let out a cry of confirmation, and the elevator began a slow decent. When they came to a complete stop on the ground floor D-Tech released his hold on the box, and the power to the elevator came back on. The trainers decided to take the stairs to their rooms. The three of them were all staying on the 9th floor. As they approached the entrance to the stairwell, Chris noticed familiar trail of sand. The trail seemed to have been placed there to guide them up to their floor. Chris grumbled to himself the rest of the way up the stairs. After reaching the 9th floor the three of the said their goodnights and retired to their own rooms.
