Upcoming series speculation!

If this topic isn't in the right place, sorry!

Hey guys!

Last couple of days I've been wondering about the upcoming title. Is there going to be a gen 7? Gen 4 remake? Pokemon Z? Who knows?! I'd like a gen 4 remake though. I know most of the pokemon fan community don't like Gen 4 all that much, but it was my childhood and I feel the most nostalgia when I hear (remixed) tracks of the D/P/PT series!

What do you guys think will come or what you prefer to see as the upcoming game?

What're you on about? Loads of people love gen 4 myself included. Pkemon Z to do with hoopa/Volcanion, then gen 7, then Gen 4 remake. total guesses

Well, on a variety of other online fora I actually found out people didn't like the D/P/PT series. System lags, boring plot, worst evil team and some other complainments.

???

It was in gen 4 that people upped the stakes. You weren't just saving a region or stopping a crime syndicate, you were stopping a guy who legit was ready to destroy the world just because he thought there was too much wrong with it. From there you had a guy who wanted to make a kingdom, and then another guy willling to kill a region cuz they didn't look good enough.

plus gen 4 had Cynthia, someone who actually has that aura a champion should have and was the first femal champ to boot.

Admittedly the galactic grunt design was ass but this isn't the topic, i've said my case :x

Fix that for destroy the world. He wanted to be god of all universe man. He wanted to have a world without emotion if it's right i said.

And cynthia was pretty hard for a champion, but a perfect difficulty. I feel sad for how easy the champions is on 6th gen. Lacking.

For me, the Fourth generation was the time Pokemon was fading in appeal. I had overplayed gen 3 and I was not sold on any of the three starters.

Reasons I want to see a Gen 4 remake:

- Unova confirmation needs to happen.

- I'm quite impressed with current gen quality in graphical capability and aside from the distortion world, the graphics in gen 4 were not very unique imo.

- I kinda have bought in on current functionality

- my DSLite is broken.

Personally, I think ORAS was a good enough fill in the gaps game this generation. Nintendo needs to cycle Event only Pokemon and mooove on to Gen 7.

People don't like Gen 4 that much because Gen 3 was Hoenn, and nothing can beat Hoenn, apparently.

whatever, Gen 4 favorite Gen

I'm expecting more of something like Pokemon Z or even Gen 7. After all, there's not a lot of hype for Gen 4 remakes, while the hype for Gen 3 remakes started like, i don't know, in 2002... xD

Without gen 4, it wouldn't be Weavile ya know mate.

And it introduced the physical and special moves, so thank god for that one.

But ya know guys, people have agruments of who was the when the D/P/P came out who was the god lol. Mew or Arceus.

And 4th gen had damn much legendary pokemon.

What this guy said. Cyrus is a legit madman, and in a way as of Platinum he achieved his goal. He has a world where only he exists(Distortion World).Cynthia is an absolute beast, her Garchomp is enough to deliver the final blow to anyone who wasnt wise enough to level up to level 53+ Then there was Barry who took the title of highest level trainer from RED(Who took it back in HGSS)The grunt design is poo though...Cyrus FTW

Gen 4 also brought the second largest/largest batch of legendaries and the coolest one:Giratina.

"plus gen 4 had Cynthia, someone who actually has that aura a champion should have and was the first femal champ to boot."
Isnt that what Blue from the originals had though? I mean guy has taunted you your entire way, been a step ahead of you since the very begining and then when you finally think you've surpassed him,Lance drops the bombshell that he is the champion. A final battle between 2 rivals that have known eachother their entire lives...Pretty fitting for the champion feel lol.

Of all people, you saying that to me? xD

Even though 4th gen had a lot of awesome things (Evolution to pokes that needed it, physical/special split...), it still comes down to the fact that people loved Hoenn too much. They will make a remake of Gen 4 to keep the trend, but i bet they're going to release "Pokemon Z" or something like that first. After all, in Gen 3 they released one remake (FR/LG), in Gen 4, one remake (HG/SS) and in Gen 6, they already released one (OR/AS). So, most likely Gen 7 before D/P remakes.

Reasons I want to see a Gen 4 remake:

- Unova confirmation needs to happen.

You only want to see Hilda in 3D

honestly... gen 4.. its quite an intresting gen. i myself have a hate/love relathionship with it. while it got cynthia, bring us arceus, made the diference between sp.atk and atk, not to mention it was in gen i myself started to actually pay atention to strategy, got my first shinny, and alot more stuffs... I still think it falls behind the other regions, in general, even if Cynthia is a boss. she honestly is the better thing in the whole Sinnoh region in my opinion. i mean, if you compare it with the other regions, kanto had that original feeling to it, johto kind of continued the story, hoenn is just plain amazing, unova argurably got the best storyline, and kalos is just overall fun, i think it lacks the "oh look, this thing here makes Sinnoh amazing~" stuff.

anyway, THIS IS MY OPINION. and im almost sure there will be a "pokemon Z/X2", then 7th gen. if 6th gen lifespawn is long (as i think it will be) then there will be a Sinnoh remake on gen 7.

Just touching on gen 5, how the fuck would that work? It was the first time we had a region sequel, would they mash em together or mve on to remake it in gen 8, leaving gen 9 for (lol) the gen 6 remakes?

honestly... i think they gona remake the first game. and add something like the delta episode, wich would lead toward BW2. because if you consider emerald as a "sequel" to RS, delta episode would really show how it went from RS->Emerald.

naw, emerald and platinum were remakes of the games, they take place at the same point chronologically.

Gen 5 BW2 however carried on chronologically, you play different characters and all and you even see later versions of the characters in BW. That's why I was wondering about the distinction.

What???

Even though Hilda is the best protagonist ever (:D) if I were going to recommend a game to someone who hadn't played pokemon before. It would be BW/BW2. Generation 5 brought me back to the series and felt like the game grew up as I did. The story was hands down the best. The art style was amazing, and it validated my purchase of DS when Gen 4 failed to bait me and HG/SS, while good, wasn't terribly exciting.

A lot of people are pulling for Pokemon Z because X/Y were underwheming storywise. THING IS... ΩRαS wrapped the generation up. The Delta Episode was literally about mega evolution. All of the Pokemon are obtainable in the current generation now. Masuda already confirmed that they were going to wrap Gen 6 up differently. If you liked the Delta Episode. That was the resolution.

I'm hoping for brand new titles. I like the mechanical changes and new Pokemon Gen 4 brought, but I really, really hate Sinnoh. The region doesn't click with me at all, and aside from Cyrus I'm not a fan of team Galactic. I also feel like Sinnoh has way more HMs then necessary (Rock Climb, Defog, etc), and needing almost all of them on you at all times in the late game is a massive turn off. I can't say for sure that I'd actually buy Sinnoh remakes, but then again I said the same about the Hoenn remakes as well. (Which I still insist Hoenn is either the 2nd worst or 3rd worst region.) Long story short, I hope Sinnoh never gets a remake, but when it inevitably does I hope it fixes everything wrong with that region.

A few of the most important things that a new title could have I feel, would be bringing character customization back (having it only be a Kalos thing would be idiotic), giving difficulty options that are unlocked from the get go, and having minimal HM usage needed. I guess having the region not be a circle, design wise would be cool as well.

EDIT: I totally forgot, I also want a substantial Post game. X and Y basically has nothing, and the post game for ORAS is pretty minimal as well.

Things I want to see in Gen 7

- A "jerk" rival.

- Gen 5 esque difficulty options made available as soon as you open the box. Or better than those.

- Another unique theme for starters (Kalos had traditional RPG classes)

- Trainer Customization (from the onset more, giving boutiques a sort of completionist feel)

- the DexNav returning

- More out of the way areas. Less streamlined than previous titles. Reward exploration.

- Gym Leaders and Elite Four members involved in the story more.

- An evil team with general appeal to older audiences (such as morality questioning or a deeper plot)

- continued ease of access for competitive battlers.

- good postgame story elements

- another Looker cameo (those are great)

There's going to be a Pokémon Z(?) late this year, previous trends of series have proven it.

Every generation has had 2 "pairs" of games; i.e GSC, FRLG, HGSS.. yada yada.

but every generation has also had a third game released for the first pair of games released that generation. i.e. Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum. the only exception being gen 5, but they did release another 'pair' in comprehensive timing. All these 'third games' are released after the '2nd pair', i.e. Emerald was released after Firered/Leafgreen, Platinum was released after HGSS, so on. In gen 6 so far we had our first pair (XY), our 2nd pair (ORAS), and how its time for the third game, probably Z because Zygarde. Then we get generation 7. Hurray logic

Actually HGSS was released after Platinum. The third game trend seems to have stopped in Gen 5, with Black 2 and White 2 rather than the much speculated Gray version.
