[IC] Of Shadow and Flame: Beginnings

Nagi sighed as she observed the ongoing debacle in front of her. She put down her binoculars and set them back into their place in the rifle case before password locking the case itself. As she did so, she could see a male who seemed to be a little older than her standing in the adjacent building who was looking around confused. Chances are he had already seen her. But, that did not matter.

In one motion, she pulled off her trenchcoat and used it as a quick cover. In under a second, the trenchcoat that surrounded her image had glowed and dissipated. There stood a girl who was clearly different looking from the one standing in that exact spot before. She was visibly shorter. If one was questioned about her body structure, he would say that her body looked more like that of a 13-14 year old. Her hair was longer and black with golden highlights at the end of her bangs. Her face gave off an twisted aura of cynicism.

"Objectives: Protect the non-powered boy and neutralize the beast."

Even her voice had changed to a higher pitch.

Her intent was to prevent the beast from reaching the adjacent building and attacking the person who was standing there. However, the need for that objective had since seemed to pass as the beast had gotten distracted by a glowing sigil in the sky and was subsequently uppercutted knocking off the girl who was clinging to it.

"Objective revised: protect the non-powered girl and neutralize the beast."

She bent her body forward as the ends of her mouth melted further into her face revealing a twisted smile from which her zeal leaked out.

"Let's get this started."

She jumped out of the glassless window in front of her and kicked straight off of the wall. Her body flew forward at great speeds until she was right above the beast at which point she twisted her body and did what looked like kicking off the air above her, causing her to plummet right into the back of the beast without a single wasted movement.

Her fist slammed into the beast beneath her causing it to collide with its neck and pinning it to the floor while creating cracks in the asphalt and concrete beneath it. That's what it looked like from a distance. However, her fist never made contact. If one looked closely, once the beast started to be pushed down, there was always about an inch gap between her fist and the beast.

Nagi let her legs hit the beast before making a second jump. She propelled herself higher so she could get to the proper altitude and drop down a second time.

The swipe managed to hit Bobbies left leg, the one not extended so high it would have made Bobby wince if he could see himself, and sent him rotating through the air to crash into a wall, slumping to the ground in a daze.

The warrior Ozymandias is tougher than this, get up!

"I don't wanna" Bobby murmured to himself in his daze. Evidently he had smacked his head

All the more reason to get your revenge!

"Very well, I, Ozymandias, shall seek revenge!" He said groggily. After a few seconds, Ozymandias had worked his way up onto his legs. In his new state he felt he could take on anything. He tried summoning a knife, the first kind coming to mind being one he could wield backhanded quite easily. As the blade formed from nothing, the handhold being woked onto it with four simple holes for his fingers, it seemed to glow like it had just come out of a forge. Ozymandias recognised it as his faithful Kukri knife that had slain many of his enemys, inherited from his dying father after a fierce battle with Nozomi. Ozymandias held his cherished blade as he took stock of the situation, waiting for the perfect moment to strike, just like he had been taught.

Bark blinked a few times. One moment a Transformed magical person had just flown through the wall in front of him, and the next thing he knew the warrior was back on his feet and engaging the Beast. A Beast? Here? he thought to himself. A bit crowded. Better make sure no one gets hurt. He stepped through the hole in the wall carefully, avoiding the rubble as he approached the battle. The imposing man was still wrapped in shadow, unable to be seen by anyone who wasn't looking closely at him. He continued to observe the fight as another combatant dropped in from above, hoping he wouldn't have to step in. It's one thing to protect humans. It's another when there are Protectors involved, he thought with a sigh. This might get a little dicey.

(OOC: For the part between jumping on and getting thrown off, I decided not to bother because it's literally "wheee!")

"Oof!" Kindle exclaimed as she landed hard on her bum, "Well that's no fun."

There were a lot of people here now, and they all seemed to be trying to hurt the beoar. This made Kindle reconsider her previous disposition. If so many people were trying to hurt it, maybe it was a bad thing? Well obviously that meant she should be hurting it too, but how? She didn't have anything to hit it with, and it was too big for her to hurt with her fist. This presented quite the predicament, the obvious answer to which was to ask someone else what the answer was.

"Hey guys, what am I supposed to do?" She yelled to no one in particular.

When no one responded, she stood up and waved her arms while screaming at the top of her lungs, "Hey crazy people! What am I supposed to be doing now?!"

"Well this works out even better," Said Faust as he stowed his gun and recalled the electric force welling up in his palm, reinvigorated as it all returned to his reserves. There was still no way he'd get a clean shot with either lightning nor lead though... not with everyone and everyone's mother going after the overgrown feral pig... Which suited him perfectly- Seemed that the number of at least moderately experienced Magi more or less equaled out the number of obvious newbs.

But by no means would he just walk away. Cause there would be questions from the others later on if he did, no doubt... "Back to being a watcher then..." He said, though even as the words left his lip, he was dashing for the ledge and pushing off hard with both feet. Blue plumes shot out for the briefest of moments as he barely made contact with the roof, pushing off yet again with a hard flap this time and not stopping till he'd cleared three more rotted risers. Just because he was going to sit back and watch, did not mean he was going to continue to sit out of his effective range and encounter the same problem he just had not even minutes ago. Something caught his ear as he landed, much closer to the action... and still holding the high ground.

"Hey crazy people! What am I supposed to be doing now?!"

"That girl though..." He glanced down from his lofty perch, sighing a bit at the inquiry posed by the young fool... for a fool was truly all Faust could classify her as in his mind- trying to ride such beast as if it were Wander und der Koloss... Did the child not know that slaying giants as if one were a fire ant would prove to be hazardous to one's health? Why, even a little Koloss could still prove a major risk to take..."She's likely to eventually die of stupidity at this rate, regardless of what I or anyone else does here." Despite his musings though... he never the less held out a hand beneath his azure plumes. They quivered... then quick as lightning, a single, blue feather shimmering in electricity shot into his hand like a car attracted to the sex appeal of an industrial super magnet in some junk yard somewhere.

The warm, tingling bristles of the steel-strong plume glowed ever so slightly as he rolled it in between his fingers reminiscent to a knife, watching, waiting... and finally deciding that even the stupid deserved a chance. Though a wasted chance, it would probably indeed be.

"Well, finding some cover would be a good job for you to fill." Faust called down to her. His spectacles gleamed in the light of the moon overhead as he gazed at the teen, stone-faced... he was already involved, so no use being mute about it at this point.

Krys was walking through the house, trying to find that guy when she walked towards the rubble, careful to stay hidden. Once there, she looked at the scene outside, trying to comprehend what was happening. The cape guy was engaged with the beast while the other guy was nowhere to be seen. There was also a really short girl flying above the beast. That isn't the one who tried riding it. Where is she?

Krys spotted her a little away and heard her shout, "Hey crazy people! What am I supposed to be doing now?!" Krys was going to call out to her when she heard a man tell her to find cover. She tried finding the source of the voice and looked up at the roof of the building. She could see a man, and recognised that same electric blue she had seen earlier. So, it was him. Was he just sitting up there and waiting for this to happen? Krys looked back at the girl and thought about calling out to her. "Hey! Come into this building. You can hide here. Let these people handle that thing."

Yet another loud mouthed brat about to get them self killed. It was baffling to Vixen that half the people that showed up here were over the top and loud. It was great for keeping the beast's attention, but damn they weren't long for this world if they kept it up. Especially these ones that seemed to know naught of their powers. They would be gone quickly if they weren't careful. One was actually close enough for her to do something about. ((I am not actually sure if Krys said some of that stuff... so Imma hunch it.. if I f it up... just let me know lol.)) "Yet another moron... do they want to die?" Vixen thought to herself as she saw yet another seemingly helpless person got way to close to a combat zone. She managed to sneak up on the girl ((Krys)) and grabbed her mouth with her hand, she whispered quietly into her ear. "Be quiet, I am not here to hurt you. You are not ready to fight something like this, and if you aren't careful... you might attract the thing. Fall back, and let them handle it. I'll make sure they are safe, and more importantly... that you don't get yourself killed. Follow and stick with me."

Krys nodded. What else could she do? This person had pressed their hand over her mouth and wasn't letting her speak. The woman had whispered something about safety. That was all Krys needed to hear. She pulled down the other woman's hand and whispered back, "Thank you. I really don't know what that thing is, nor what's going on but I do realise that this place is dangerous. If you can, then help me." Krys moved away from the opening and hoped that the beast wouldn't come towards her. Her mind raced, thinking that there were others like her out there. She turned to look at her saviour. In the dark she couldn't make out much. From her voice, Krys had figured out it was a woman. Now she saw the blueish hair and dark clothes. She saw what looked like a hunting rifle, or so she thought. This one looks tough. Plus that gun is surely going to be deadly. "My name is Krys. I don't know how I got here. I was trying to go home and somehow ended up here. Like I was drawn to this monster." Suddenly, she felt drained and was about to collapse. Krys tried to grab hold of the lady for support as a reflex. She pulled on some sort of cloth wrapped around the mysterious woman and fell.

((Krys only said the last bit about come into the building.. The stuff in quotes.. The italics is what she is thinking.. Thanks for saving Krys.. Also.. Never really done the whole "team up" thing before, So be gentle, Sensei; it's my first time!))

Dexter took another look at that road where the Beast was. Some people there were actually different... they transformed. "So this people can transform and become stronger? I surely can't do that, so why am I here?" The man who kicked the beast was now trying to hurt that creature with a Kukri that came out of nowhere, and looked almost covered in fire, the crazy girl (who wasn't transformed) was simply asking what to do like she wasn't in danger, and the woman that was observing the situation, that woman that Dexter noticed inside of the building, transformed and jumped down, on the road, to fight the beast. His attention was still brought back to that young girl, that seemed slightly younger than him and that came out of the hospital. "Why would she ever do that? She's not even transformed like the other people in this place... She might even die... No one has to die now; what happened to my father shall not happen again" Dexter thought, observing the fight from his building.

"Terrifying, isn't it? Most people would have ran off or called the police by now."

Dexter didn't even know how he did that, but in the blink of an eye he was holding his pistol in his hands, pointing at the source of that voice... "A cat? Seriously? Am I dreaming now?"
He observed that creature: it seemed to be just a normal cat; there was nothing special about his look...
But, perhaps he wasn't just a cat, maybe he wanted Dexter to be there in that moment, when the Beast manifested.
"You! Maybe you can help me... Why am I even here? Is that because of you?" Dexter asked the cat with a loud but trembling voice, trying not to get the attention of anyone else, other than that creature.
He stared at the animal with his heterochromial eyes and waited for a reply... "If he is one of those people, like the ones that are fighting the beast, and he wanted me dead, he'd have already killed me. He's here for a different reason."

"As useless as I thought... she really... really... shouldn't be here." Vixen thought to herself. The girl had fallen, nearly sapped of energy. Vixen put Krys weight on her shoulder to move her into more relative safety. She moved Krys quickly as she could and sat her down against a nearby wall behind herself. "If you can still hear me, stay put." She said, not entirely sure if Krys was still in the land of the awake. "If you see anything trying to sneak up on us... holler. Otherwise, I will be keeping my eyes on the beast we already can see. Hopefully, those numbskulls out there didn't get slaughtered in the time I took to get you back here."

Vixen quickly moved back up to try and get a good vantage point on the fight at large once more. She looked down her scope, seeing how the battle transformed. She certainly didn't see anybody she hadn't before. But, she had to remain vigilant. They already attracted one beast... with how loud they were being and how many powers were being used in this place, it was bound to attract more of them if they were in the area. While she tried to keep an eye on the Beoar and how that fight was progressing, she also kept an eye out for anything else trying to creep up and join the fight.

Krys mumbled a small thank you to her and stayed put in her corner, looking out for anything that might sneak attack them. This is weird, being drawn into battle suddenly. I guess I'll have to just stay here and hope that nothing attacks. Krys was glad for that. This sudden chain of events had shaken her up and she didn't know what to make of it. She put the back of her head against the wall and just listened to the sounds coming from outside. Her head hurt from exhaustion and processing this new world she had suddenly become a part off. All she could do now was wait for Hunter-Girl or one of the others to come get her.

Bark watched the action unfold, a light grin on his face as the others attacked the beast in a chaotic swarm of magical attacks. Suddenly, a girl cried out about crazy people. He scanned the battlefield and realized that standing in the fray was a somewhat young-looking girl. The man sighed and loosened the sling on his shotgun, taking it in both hands. "Frickin' white girls," he muttered as he took off toward the girl. Once he reached her he looked back toward the Beast, then again at the non-combatant. "I don't know what you think you're doing here, but believe me when I say that the safest thing for you right now is to come with me." With that said, Bark took off back to his hiding spot in the blown-open wall.

(@ Hiss13: please don't just land autoattacks like that. It's not that big of a deal right now, but unless there's a swarm of weak enemies, make your attack and I will determine the result. @Cyaloom: a cat's coat is the color and form of its fur; he isn't wearing an actual coat lol.)

"I can tell you're afraid. Don't worry; if we were in any real danger, I would not be here. You're also rather confused, which is quite understandable." The cat's tail flicked back and forth occasionally as he spoke. Looking closely, one could tell that this was no ordinary cat; while the body was indistinguishable from any other, the eyes held an unmistakable light of intelligence not normally found in a feline companion. "To answer your question, no, I did not bring you here. Something deep within you brought you here, something you likely aren't aware of. Something that you might have never learned of if you hadn't chosen to come to this place tonight." That wasn't entirely true; it was possible another would have found him, and they regularly patrolled this area.

The cat padded forward and jumped onto the windowsill. He seemed to gesture with his tail toward the beast. "Look back to them for a moment." The transformed girl crashed down with a crushing blow, actually pushing the beast downward into the asphalt slightly. It caused further damage when she used it as a springboard, launching back into the air. The wound from earlier seemed to leak, rather than bleed; while the substance that came from it looked like blood, it floated out and dissipated after a few seconds, vanishing into nothingness.

"Do you see the kind of power they wield? Watch my friend Takeshi for a moment; he is about to end the monster's pain." As if on cue, the silver-haired fighter leapt up into the air with another shout, and slammed his blade downward in a brutal slash, bisecting the "beoar" and causing it to roar in pain before it froze, dissolving before the eyes of everyone watching. "You have the potential to become as powerful. I am Astros. My kind is known as the Mediators, and I have the ability to unlock that power through a contract."

***

Takeshi's blade disappeared as he returned to a standing position. He flashed white for a moment, and the warrior was replaced by a shorter, much more typical-looking teenager. His hair was fairly long and bleached blonde, and he wore a ragged white hoodie with an abstract, artistic design across the chest. His jeans were in similar condition, with a blown-out knee and several bare patches. His shoes seemed to be in decent condition, though it was hard to tell in that lighting. He clapped his hands together once. "Well, that was fun. You all watching-" he gestured at the people who had been hiding, and the much weaker sensations that had been coming from the people that were more than likely being approached as he spoke by Mediators "- you can come out now. I promise I don't bite, and I can tell that pretty much all of you are new around here in one way or another." He chuckled. "Yeah, even the people that have lived here their whole lives."

His cheerful expression changed to a frown for a moment as he sensed a few, more familiar, presences approaching. Three more people approached, already transformed and obviously there for a reason. "Preserver," he said in a sort of icy greeting.

"Loner," the one in the center of their formation returned with a similar tone. "I see you're done murdering another beast. Do you really think we'll continue to tolerate your actions?"

"Yes," he returned defiantly. "This is my territory and my home, and you had seen that one you would know damn well there was no saving it."

The leader, another tall boy with short-cropped brown hair and dressed in what appeared to be ornate steel plate, looked around with a derisive expression. He did note, however, the presence of others. "Fine, then. I recommend staying in your. . . home, however; you never know. The Peacekeepers might misunderstand what you were doing outside your territory." It was fairly apparent that if any "misunderstandings" occurred, it wouldn't be Peacekeepers acting. "Come on. There's nothing left for us to do here." He turned about sharply, revealing a long, but somewhat narrow scarlet cape - or was it a scarf? It was difficult to tell; the light wasn't ideal. Takeshi waited until there was a fair distance between himself and them before turning back to those who had witnessed the battle.

"As much as I hate following Haruto's model, we should probably not stick around here. Someone probably called the cops, and we're a pretty shady-looking group. I'm sure you've got questions, so if you want 'em answered you're gonna want to follow me." He started walking toward another alleyway, looking over his shoulder to see if anyone was following.

Kindle barely even registered the weird demandy guy's presence, she was too busy watching on in awe at the awesome awesomeness of the awesome sparkly guy slicing the beaor in half. She was standing but a few yards away, foolishly ignoring the others' warnings, to watch as the creature dissolved into thin air. She watched intently as an odd argument unfolded between the beast's destroyer, who now looked suspiciously like the scraggly blonde boy who had been yelling earlier. Then Scraggly Blonde Boy said they should all go with him, and there was obviously no reason to argue.

"Oooh, I'm coming, wait for me!" She said excitedly, bolting forward after him.

She closed the gap in seconds, in fact she actually managed to run past him and had to backtrack a couple feet so she could talk to him.

"So, Mr. Scraggly... HOLY SHIT THAT WAS OBVIOUSLY AWESOME." She said.

There was a pause in her breathing, immediately followed by her collapsing on the ground, passed out.

(OOC: "Awe at the awesome awesomeness of the awesome sparkly guy." I think Kindle may be just a tad prone to overdoing things, just a tad)

As Nagi continued to jump upwards, she noticed the boy who had knocked the beoar away earlier dealing the finishing blow.

"Tch. Kill thief." She sighed and began her descent crossing her arms in a bit of annoyance.

As she descended down by a few feet, she noticed the boy transforming back to what she assumed was his normal state and being approached by a few other magi in already transformed states. Rather than continuing her descent, she hopped up while in midair and onto the roof of another building to avoid being noticed by the others.

After a what seemed like a short conversation, the other three left. So, she hopped back off of the building and used her powers to slow down her descent to the point where her landing did not even make a sound. In that time, it seemed the girl, who had out of some burst of insanity tried to ride the beast, shouted out to the blond kill thief.

"Really, for a non-combatant like yourself, that move was insanely reckless." She pointed at the red-head with a look of annoyance. "I can only hope that was simply…" Nagi trailed off and put her palm to her face.

"Ugh…it doesn't matter now anyway. The two non-combatants I saw in the area are safe and the beast has been neutralized. All objectives have been achieved even if I didn't achieve them myself." She muttered to herself, realizing that berating the girl who was in danger up to a second ago was probably not the best way to go about thisespecially since the she had just passed out.

So, she changed her focus to the one the hyper red-head called "Mr. Scraggly". "Good work back ther--screw it. I hate pleasantries. Right now it would probably best to follow you, kill thief, so just give me a few seconds to pick up the rifle I left in that building I jumped from earlier." She pointed to the building she had observed the battle from earlier while brandishing a scowl on her face.

Bark stepped out of the shadows, mildly annoyed that the girl hadn't run to safety. What an idiot... he thought to himself. Well, at least no one died. He strode toward Takeshi, a disarming grin on his face. "Hey, hey, easy with the accusations of watching and shadow-skulking there, Mr. Scraggly." The rather large man relaxed, slinging his shotgun over his back and extending a hand. "Unlike that acrobatic minx over there, I happen to love pleasantries. And since you said you were a loner, I have no issue with introducing myself. The name's Bark." He held up his hand as if to silence questions that hadn't been asked yet. "Yes, like a tree or a dog. And yes, if you bark to get my attention, I'll hit you with a newspaper," he said jovially, laughing loudly at his own joke.

"I'd be glad to come with you so long as I don't have to carry her," he said distastefully, nudging the unconscious girl with his boot.

"So your name is Astros and you are a mediator... And you want to offer me a contract? I imagine there are going to be some conditions... You can't just give me powers for free, am I right?" Dexter asked the cat. He was even more confused, but at least he knew he was safe, and that the cat was not there to harm him.

He tried to ask another question, thinking that the words he said before were slightly unclear. "So, the powers... Why should I have powers? What are they needed for? Surely not for doing whatever you please". Dexter then thought about the words the cat told him. "Something deep within you brought you here, something you likely aren't aware of."

"So I am not a normal, human, civilian. From what Astros said, I have already that power, but I need his help to actually use it."

Dexter decided to just wait for a reply from Astros: he needed to know more, especially when he was about to take such an important decision.

Ozymandiases hesitation had cost him- No, it had been wise. He had nt needed to demonstarte his powers t a further extent to the agents of chaos who came to argue with the guy who had transformed to a much less impressive version of himself. Ozymandias decided to maintain his new form (Completely a conscious choice) and to walk over and make his presence known...

"Well, I see that you all have the capabilities to fight for Fate! Should you introduce yourself, I may deign to fight alongside you as a sworn brother. I myself am the Warrior of Fate, Master of the ethereal sight, Wielder of the Demon slaying Kukri of the twelve shaman! I am Ozymandias!" Then Ozzy noticed the collapsed girl and sighed. He couldn't very well leave her like that. He bent over and picked her up in a bridal lift, he flaming skull on his shirt trying to bite her to the same effect as if there was a glass wall between them, frustrating the skull greatly.

Now that the fighting was over, Vixen would have normally left. However, the was still the issue with Krys, the girl she had grabbed off the battlefield. Whether she was knocked out or just incredibly groggy, she wasn't getting anywhere on her own. Vixen couldn't leave her here, especially considering she didn't believe anyone else knew she was here. She stowed her rifle, knowing it would probably be a terrible Idea to walk out there with it. It certainly wouldn't say hey, I got someone who needs to be helped back here. It was the first time in awhile she was forced to make herself known, and she wasn't all too thrilled about it. But, this woman's life would be in bigger danger with just her. A group would have a better chance of keeping her safe, even if the already had a member down that they already needed to carry.

Vixen walked out from the building she was in out into the open. She didn't make much of an effort to seem pleasant nor did she seem too friendly... it wasn't something she was used to. "There is another injured in the building I walked out of. She'll probably die on her own as she is nearly powerless." She said making it about half way to the group. She addressed all of them, but looked directly towards Bark, the only one of them she deemed to really have any common sense. She then abruptly turned to leave.

He had to admit, that whole sequence was rather...quick compared to what he'd been led to believe, what he'd been told and even seen first hand. Either this Man with the cape- or rather, scraggly looking teen, was a bit more advanced in abilities than the average bear... or this beast had really been nothing but Fodder on the spectrum of power.

"Doesn't really matter in the end..." Faust said, a bit relieved after the breif encounter with the Preservers ended without any fireworks... The younger man had a point- chances are someone had called the cops by now from all the damn noise and they were probably speeding over here even now, and there honestly would not be many things worse than if a few Norms had unwittingly waltzed right into a scuffle between a couple of Magi. And he would be absolutely powerless to do anything if one had broken out... He was only one peacekeeper, afterall.

"It's over now. Not much reason for me to bother staying if nothing's attacking and no one's threatening to rip each other's throats out..." He brought his wing around and presented the still glowing, razor sharp plume.Static crackled ever so slightly, the thing beginning to quiver and hum. Like a missile, it shot back home to it's brethren of steel, finding it's place easily among the hundreds upon hundreds of metallic azure heads. He turned, preparing to take one last leap to get to street level and get out of this place... though he spared a single glance back at the Foolish girl sprawled out cold on the asphalt. Honestly, not much pity flowed through him- She'd ignore his advice to get the hell out of the way, thankfully the thing had been dead around the time she went out like a light, but... there would probably be other situations down the road, seeing as how he himself had been sucked into this world of craziness so easily and adapted to the point where it was all the new normal to him...

But then again... when he was still as new to it all as this kid obviously was, he hadn't been stupid. He had possessed the common sense to stay the fuck out of sight as best he possibly could whenever shit broke out, stay under the radar and tread lightly- this kid here though? She'd be chow before long if a bit of wising up wasn't done.

"You can't save them all..." He sighed in german. "But at least I can say I did try. And she's got all of them down there, so... no real reason to get further involved, I suppose." That and the fact that he would like to be able to actually eat this week, and the store wasn't gonna stay open all damn night...

Without a word he pushed off the roof, quiet as death as he glided down and landed a bit down the road from the little assembly. His wing spasmed, contracted, then all at once, the blue plumes shot back into his back like a bullet- leaving a clean slit in his shirt in their wake. "Hell, I should probably pick up thread and some cloth while I at it too..." Without a single word to any of them, the German tucked his hands into his pockets and began walking back the way he'd came...

Two people seemed to have come in and one of them picked up the girl. Then came a third person. Seeing as nobody probably minded if she took a second to pick up the weaponry she stowed away, she jumped up and used successive midair jumps to quickly move towards the building from before. Once she was inside, she picked up the rifle case she left in the corner and looked towards where she had seen that boy from earlier and saw him with what looked like a cat.

"Hey, you! It's not safe here. Get your ass over to where the others are congregating." She yelled at the boy before going back to the window she came in through. She saw the older woman who had come in earlier starting to walk away. So, she jumped straight out the window and gracefully landed directly to her left without a single sound.

"Why are you attempting to leave so soon? I don't know who you are but I think it's safe to say that this is unfamiliar territory for you as well. Considering how a beast showed up just now, it would probably not be the best idea to go through this area without some intelligence. It would probably be bad or at least an annoyance if you ran into some more dangerous beasts." She paused for a second. "It's like doing a hit job. You can't just plow through expecting to succeed without a hitch. Gathering intelligence is the best way to get through it unscathed. So, stay. Get some info from the guy who claims this to be his territory and then make your way out without incident."

Ozymandias could not let the aid go unrewarded, surely if this newcomer helped an innocent they were good too?

"Uh, yes my companion speaks truth!" Ozzy said, trying to support the other persons reasoning. "Besides, we owe you some thanks for helping someone defenceless, no? So please, stay with us, enjoy the spoils of war beside us and split the fruit of knowledge!"

"I already know the layout of this city." Vixen coldly remarked, only looking over her shoulder as she continued to walk. "Therefore, you have nothing to offer me, and I have nothing to offer you." She didn't really see any reason to go with them. They would only hinder her travel and she would be forced into having to babysit those that didn't know what they were doing. Besides, she preferred to be alone, no connections to people, nothing to get in the way of keeping herself alive. If you had a bond... it only tangled up your ability to survive. If you cared fro other people that deeply, it affected you in many ways, many ways Vixen didn't feel like feeling again. She was to be alone. She didn't mind saving people, but she didn't want any strings attached. "You owe me nothing, any person would have saved one who could not defend themselves. Anyone could have done what I did. I am not special." she said in remark to Ozzy. ((should note, that line is one of Vixen's ideals, and something she believe is true even if it isn't. She can't comprehend someone not doing it lol.))

The conversation he was in was almost surreal. It wa only Dexter and Astros the mediator/cat. The other people and that beast were so close to him, but they seemed so far from that upper floor of that unstable building.

"Hey, you! It's not safe here. Get your ass over to where the others are congregating." a woman yelled at him, as he was talking with Astros. Dexter decided to look out of the window just to see who that woman was and where the others were congregating; the woman, who seemed to have his age, was that one on the building nearby, and the place she mentioned was just another alleyway, near the street...

Dexter turned back to Astros, doing what he was doing before; asking him things and waiting for his reply.

"Well then, you don't get a special reward. Does that solve your dilemma? Of course a gift from myself can hardly be called ordinary... But thats an issue for later. Regardless, you will come along. A man pays his debts." Ozymandias had made up his mind. If she said no, He would simply pass off his current hitch-hiker and pick Vixen up as a new one. Easy, no?
