Monotype Run

I'm limiting the poll options because I wanna use my starter throughout the run, so voting for a type thats not fire/water/grass more or less decides my starter also. Thanks for the help!

Steel is good option because of its defensive qualities and has a decent selection of secondary types (plus empoleon is adorable <3)

Ferro and aegislash are not ingame yet, bisharp and bronzong come really late game. But there are a lot of options for steel types like steelix, bastiodon, excadrill, forretress, magnezone, mawile, escavalier and the only pseudo-legend we have access metagross

Fairy and many other types aren't an option because no starter has a secondary fairy type, and I want to be at least guaranteed one pokemon for the beginning portion of the game

I'd go for fighting. It is a very diverse type with many hard-hitting pokémon. You can also cover some obvious weaknesses (Psychic, Fairy, etc..) by adding mons such as Scrafty and Lucario. It's impossible to get stuck on a gym leader using fighting-types.
