Site/Server Suggestions, Maintenance, & Discussion

If you mean getting a PM when we submit a PotD/SotD/Voice Name Change/Report, sure, that works? I mean, never used any of those items. What I meant is this. That's all you get when reporting a post/topic. No "Report sent" or anything, it just fades away and that's it.

I dunno about the Notifications tab. I think it'll be completely useless (at least for me) until it gets a "(X New)" counter like what the Messenger has. Y'know, so that it actually notifies you when something happens.

So we all know how Clarice can be moody, yeah? But when she takes it out on mods, that's not beneficial to their enforcement of rules. As it turns out, mods are unable to use their moderation commands while muted. As such, if there's a fix, it's gotta be made. Adding this to a new sub-section called "Showdown Suggestions/Maintenance".

Where to put your topics! needs to be updated again, since Hall of Champions is gone, and Victory Road replaces Onyx Trainer's School.

also some of the sub-sub forums aren't blue like the rest of them but that's just nitpicking

Oh, and in Hilda's PSA on bumping, she mentions that her necroposting thread is pinned in the Grand Hall, but it is now in the Site Help and not pinned.

-Notify members that their newly-made Trainer Card will appear in their signature after the create it. There's too many duplicate trainer cards. (Suggested by Tacos/Arkhidon, 3/1/15)

Done practically with my eyes closed. Should show for both manual entry and imports alike. Is the message clear enough?

-Update the Staff list when names are changed and reflect the removal of Hall of Champions and the new Victory Road (Reported by Chubb, 10/15/15)

Also done, I... think? I did use current names specifically so people would know who's who (i.e. when Dash was Buster Perriwinkle). I actually changed that back a bit ago when I realised his name had been returned to normal. I'm not clear on what the second half of this means, though- I did add Victory Road under Dash's local mod bit, if that's what was being implied here.

EDIT:

-Archeops will not import from Showdown onto Trainer Cards using the Trainer Card creator. (Reported by Shing, 9/26/15)

I'm not sure what the problem here is because as you can see I tried it myself (with the showdown import) and it's there as I had it in the teambuilder.

-Leavanny's name is misspelled on the Create a Trainer Card! page. (Reported by Chubb the Pig, 4/26/15)

This was fixed a while ago but I guess a note was never made.

-Don't be so double negative! Do not not do that! (Reported by Lamona, 6/28/15)

Fixed. I also updated it to reflect our current "reset on meeting night(s)" restart schedule.

-Add more Style Swappers for the Reborn Main page. (Suggested by Chubb the Pig, 6/10/15)

For... reasons, I'm not sure this is practical.

-Edit the Notifications button to show new Notifications, like how the Messenger button does. (Suggested by Chubbs, 7/9/15)

I recall Dan being on this but as it isn't a thing yet I'll find out what's going on.

-Create a subforum (likely under Mews & Announcements) pertaining to the topic of Showdown and Reborn-related news in the server. (Suggested by Chubb, 8/2/15)

...So, what separates this from the Community Announcements to warrant another subforum?

Looks good! Hope that prevents the issue from ever popping up again.

I'll leave the suggestion in the corresponding spoiler. If this is incorporated, then I'll remove the suggestion.

Probably maybe not anything. Suggestion was axed, but if Chubb develops on why it's worth implementing, I could shuffle it back into Suggestions.

Well, I guess I was thinking it could also include pretty much anything based on the Showdown server, like the Reborn Game Night and AlphaOmega club threads. Although there's still not that much to put in it even with new announcements, so I dunno.

I asked Dan about whether or not we had Soundcloud embedding capabilities on the server, and he said he wasn't sure, but it looks like a no. So I figured I might as well throw it in the suggestion bin. There's a link here from the Soundcloud site that talks about how to do it. It seemed simple enough, so it shouldn't be too hard to implement whenever's there's time and/or if the admins even think it's worth doing.

Edited the OP to reflect that everyone makes mistakes.

On that note, does editing a post show others that something new happened, as if a new post was made? Because that would be pretty neat.

And also, since we already have a Community FAQ page, why not put something about warning points there? As is, to see how many warning points do what, you have to go dig up this topic.

No, not currently. And I've brought this up before at some point. Ultimately, given that so many posts can be edited, it is impractical to bump a thread simply because a single edit may have been made.

Good point. Adding to the OP.

Yeah, but if this is about using edits instead of double-posting, could it be made so that only edits to the most recent post count as a "new post"? For any other post, it wouldn't be a double-post, so the user could and would probably just make a new post instead of editing the old one.

I really don't know that edits are ever really done very much longer after it was initially made.

I'm sure there's a way to implement that code into the site for a test period to actually test that theory that it would be more disruptive than not. There have been many times where I would have edited as the last poster if it would have done that.... instead of waiting for someone else to make a post or a certain amount of time for the mourning to be over.

Another thing.

As is, this...is completely useless. I could see myself using a "Hide posts below 1 Reputation Point" option at times, but I think I only ever saw 3-4 posts with over 50 Rep, and I don't remember any with triple digits.

Oh, and about the Reputation tab on people's profiles. I'm guessing this isn't possible, but if a post that's been rep-ed before gets more rep, would it be possible to have that post show up at the top of the Reputation tab?

I'm p sure anything above 100 is pretty much just there as a joke. That's the height of possibility that I can see for a post's rep, and even that has never happened to my knowledge. I support the joke, but I'm pretty neutral about the whole rep filter thing. It seems kind of random, but I never even knew we had the feature. I can say that you'd miss out on a lot of posts with that filter on though, which is why it seems so weird to me.

Yeah, it's useless lol. I guess it could kinda be useful if all you remember of a post you're looking is that it got some rep, but other than that... Maybe just remove it.

And yeah Flux, the only posts I ever saw that had above even 50 were those development status threads for new episodes.

Agreed. Maybe it can be disabled or something? At any rate, there's no use searching for posts with triple-digit reputation counts; it's never happened and unless bots come back, it never will happen.

Added to the OP.

LOL

Yeah that's kinda unnecessary to have a rep filter. All posts should be important, and hiding posts that have no votes/points, is... negative? Not sure what word I'm looking for, but I'm all supporting to remove it.

Or maybe you want some quick new music suggestions by looking at the "What are you listening to?" thread by looking through the 3+ rep songs?

Or the funny picture thread?

or the tfw thread?

or any other thread with omgtastic number of posts and you're a new member and wanna jump to what may be the good stuff?

The use is niche, but maybe you could just adjust the filter to far more reasonable numbers rather than remove it completely.
