Tomy
So what's the deal with these attacks: Earth Power,Earthquake and Magnitude? The only difference between these moves is the attack power..wouldn't be enough if we had only Earthquake?
Gentleman's Hat
Earth power is a Special type move, meaning it scales with Sp. Atk. Earthquake is a physcial so it scales with Atk. And Magnitude is a physcial attack that randomizes it damage output from LV 4 with 10 power to LV 10 with 150. These moves are actually quite different from each other. Shing
So what's the deal with these attacks: Earth Power,Earthquake and Magnitude? The only difference between these moves is the attack power..wouldn't be enough if we had only Earthquake? Earthquake is 100% psyhical power move and can hit everyone, which is pretty damn strong and give many pokemon strategy. Magnitude is randomly and yeah, you get the point. Earth power is an special move, and is probably the strongest ground special move. Edited April 5, 2015 by ShingSt
Reno
Earth Power also only hits one target whereas EQ and Magnitude hits even your allies. In Reborn, if you're in a cave, EQ and Magnitude will bring down the cave and knockout all Pokemons. Deleted User
NONSENSE WE NEED MORE GROUND TYPE ATTACKS. THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS TOO MUCH GROUND. PRAISE THE SUN.
Vlado Vladimir
Well... you got a point with Magnitude and Eq... But I think Magnitude exists becauase low level ground type pokemons shouldn't have a Base 100 Power move, so they get Magnitude (like for example: Water Gun and Hydro Pump, or Ember and Flamethrower) Now... Earth Power is COMPLETELY different; they share the same type, but Earthquake uses the Attack stat while Earth Power uses the Special Attack (So eq is better on stuff like Swampert and Ep works with Special Attackers such as Camerupt) Earthquke hits every non levitating target in doubles and triples, while Ep only hits a selected one; Eq does not have a secondary effect, Ep does have a chance to lower the foe Special Defense, and last but not least: Eq hits stuff that used Dig before you used the attack (and doubles the power), Earth Power doesn't. So you choose. Edited April 5, 2015 by Vlado Vladimir

NickCrash
It is true that Ground has few moves to choose from. Of course you can't count Mud Bomb and Mud Slap, because they are worthless. Other types have both Special and Physical moves that do different things, whereas Ground has 1 special move that can be used in competitive. Even now, we received Land's Wrath that I believe has no side-effect. It's basically EQ with 10base power less. Check what Water has to compare: Surf: 90BP, hits both, Scald: 80BP, 30% chance to burn Hydro Pump: 110BP, 80%Acc Brine: 65BP, if HP<50%, BP=130Crabhammer Water Pulse Water Spout Waterfall Aqua Jet: priority Whirlpool: trap and hit for damage each turn Ground has.... hold it! Hold it! Bulldoze: reduces speed by 1 stage Earth Power Earthquake Spikes (wtf?) will have eventually...
