...Or rather, violently refreshed my inbox every other hour during the past two days, waiting for my confirmation mail.
It never came, so I figured I'd try again with an alternate mail address.
(Now to figure out who to annoy bother contact about the unactivated account, because shush, I was so excited that the name Ama wasn't taken.)

I'm sorry, that's neither a very appropriate, nor informative way of starting my introduction.
Or perhaps it is, in the way that it allows you all to measure my exact degree of dumbass.
Aaaanyway, where do I start?

My name's Amalia, or Ama for short, and I'm a 20-year old dork from NRW, Germany.
I'm bigender; she/her or he/him pronouns would be cool, but if you don't know which to pick, feel free to use they/them.

As for what I'm doing with my time:
I'm currently unemployed for health-related reasons, but will be applying for university next month because it's my ambition to be a teacher one day (English/Geography).
My interests include, but aren't limited to: paleontology, geology, and whatever I can comprehend about space.
Also, birds. I love birds a lot, yes yes. Especially hummingbirds. Three guesses as to where my username comes from.

Hobbies are reading, writing, wasting time on the internet, video games, and probably eating food.

My older sister introduced me to Pokémon when I was six years old.

My first game was Blue, and since then I've also played Red, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Emerald, LeafGreen, Diamond, HeartGold, SoulSilver, Black, White 2, X, AlphaSapphire, Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, Stadium, GB TCG and Dash.

My favourite types are Flying and Steel, and my favourite Pokémon is Skarmory (hue).

Favourite game so far would be HeartGold, though I can't really tell whether it's for the game itself, or because of my emotional attachment to the Johto region.

I'm not actually active on any other Pokémon-related site, and my experiences with the fandom are mostly limited to communities on other websites I'm on, or friends who play the games.

As such, I've not ventured into the territory of fan-made games until now - Reborn is the first fangame I'm playing.

Blame if on my partner; he's been going on about the game for a while, and eventually I got really curious, so I asked him to link it to me, and well, here I am.

Not that I regret it! I'll confess it right here and now that I absolutely adore this game, and I'm glad I gave it a try.

I haven't finished it yet (just met Terra the other day), mostly because I'm purposely taking my time so I don't have to wait too long for the next episode. I'm that kind of person who dies from impatience over finding out what will happen next.

And oh boy am I curious to see where the plot will go.

If I have to sum up my Reborn experience, let's just put it like this: my unhealthy attachment to fictional characters will ruin my life.

Cain's a bro, I want to adopt Anna, Shelly is precious and must be protected, Simon and Tara exist for the sole purpose of testing my ability to cope with sadness, #SaveAmaria2k15, and ZEL stole my heart or something.

I have also accepted Noctowl as my Lord and Savior.

Something else I'll quickly confess while I'm rambling: I have zero experience with competitive play, I haven't bothered with IVs and EVs until halfway through Reborn, and if there's a corner here for n00bs, I'll be building a nest there.

Other than that, I don't really know what to put here.

PS: Seriously, though - about that account that I never got my mail for... I assume that it's gonna be deleted if it doesn't get activated, so I'm not sure if I should contact anyone about it, or just wait a while until the issue solves itself?

Regarding your concerns about your other account, I suppose you could talk to Amethyst about it...? Alternatively, you could just use a "Change Display Name" item from the Site Shop, if you've got the Rupees and the patience to earn said Rupees to.

Science and nature in general = <3

The sad thing is, I'm not actually as talented at (most fields of) science as I wish I was.

I've always had a HUGE interest in biology right from my Kindergarten days on, and when I was younger I insisted I'd be a biologist one day.

But the truth is, I don't have it in me. I tried, but it simply isn't within my area of talents.

I can memorize certain information, sure, but for example, genetics is the one and only thing that actually earned me a 6 F in school.

I somehow managed to get acceptable marks, but my childhood dreams have been permanently shattered.

But I do love nature, yes <3

I'm not sure if he has an account here; I don't think so, but I'll be sure to ask him when he gets his Aussie ass out of bed.

Dewgong is the newest addition to my team. To be honest I just kinda train pokemon that I like a lot and then hope it'll work out.

Like I mentioned, I've never even come close to trying my hand at anything resembling competitive play, so I'm utterly clueless about good strategic match-ups.

Somehow, it works out well enough to get me through the game, though.

We'll see about that Dewgong. I used Samurott before (and am still regretting that I didn't choose Mudkip), but it didn't perform all that well in comparison to the rest of the team.

I could probably improve a lot if I put some effort into learning more about teambuilding, and have a feeling I will have to, sooner or later. But for now, it's literally just "win it with your faves, or go down trying".

I thought I'd be clever using the GMX one instead of Outlook, since it's usually Outlook that gives me problems, but in this case it was the opposite, it seems.

As a person from Germany you should know better than anybody else that the grades you get at school matter little. Wasn't it your compatriot Albert Einstein who kept on getting 2 (TWO!) in his physics exams? And he went on to re-invent the whole thing.

If you have a passion, and you are wise in picking a university carreer than can valorize it without putting too much strain on it, it will eventually shine through. Remember, when it comes to advanced studies (and eventually to getting a job) passion matters more than knowledge, in that getting a job about something you love is easy even if you are not particularly knowledgeable about it, but getting a job about something you hate will lead you nowhere even if you were regularly able to ace the relative exams in school. Trust me on this, I found out the hard way.

Oh, it's by far not my number one interest any more, that's not it.

I do wish I'd be better at it than I am, at least as far as natural talent goes, but overall, my interests have shifted as I grew up.

I don't know what my top choice would be if I hadn't made those negative experiences with science in school, but over the course of the last years, I've come to realize that I'm more passionate about teaching/passing on knowledge, than being the one to discover it first.

That's not to say the two are mutually exclusive, because they sure as hell aren't.

If I weren't still vividly interested in those things, I wouldn't have bothered listing them. Because science is cool, yo!

I've had a really awesome teacher once, who, even though he only taught the class I was in for a year, is probably one of my biggest rolemodels.

He proved to me that the combination of being passionate about writing/language and teaching can be the greatest thing, because if you know how to talk, you can get people to listen to anything you have to say. On the flip side, this is how Pokemon villains work. Throws me right back to the moment where Solaris said a line that I've said myself once.

That, and there's my former German teacher, who I'll assume is secretly Minerva McGonagall.
