Support Squad Felicity Posted May 12, 2015 Support Squad Share Posted May 12, 2015 Bobby released the strain on his mind for a moment and felt the vast strength lleave his body. He sighed, sad to feel it go. "So, what's next bud?"
Chevaleresse
The end of the parkour lesson Takeshi shrugged. "We go for a walk, I guess." He started to walk back down into the building. "Grab a snack on the way out, you're going to want it," he called back from the stairwell as he descended. Gavriil (I'm waiting for some time to pass before you get an actual update, sorry.) Yash
Krys walked down into the building and headed for the kitchen. After searching in the cupboards for a bit she found a couple of energy bars. These would be perfect. After taking enough for all of them, she picked up a bottle of cold water from the fridge and went back to the others. "Here you go guys. This will keep our energy up." She passed out the bars to all of them and started eating her own.
Support Squad Felicity Posted May 14, 2015 Support Squad Share Posted May 14, 2015 Bobby followed and gratefully accepted the bar. God damn that was tiring, though it kinda felt like I was watching it all happen through a lens Bobby noted mentally. He chalked it up to adrenaline and the new powers. Nothing much could readily surprise him at this point.
Sutoratosu
"Fuck." Faust thought as he saw the torrent of black power heading right for him. Like a giant, black wave that burned the closer and closer it got, as if it was alive, as if it was some phantom that wanted nothing more than to reach out and steal his life. It was like those two brits... just like them. He felt something coursing through him as he sat floating downards through the air, near paralyzed... it was fear. It was always fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of death, fear of disgrace or prejudice... always, it was always fear of something. And it was fear that was his lightning. It was the fear that gave him power... "NO!" He shouted, his entire body blazing with the same violet light as his eyes, engulfing him in the luminescent crackle of electricity that circulated throughout his entire being in a storm. The scent of scorched ozone hung in the air, strong enough for everyone in the alley to smell it, His wing stretched and extended to it's full span, his feathers elongated and sharpened, each and everyone of them, like serrated knives with countless teeth. His hair faded from it's blonde hue, a deep blue like thunder replacing it as the strands began to fan out around his face. He could feel countless volts pulsing through him every second, his heart faster than a bullet. The whole world seemed to slow down. As if it was only constituted of this one moment in time. Just him... and the giant black wave coming the kill him. "No!" He repeated, creating a massive uplift of air with a single powerful flap as it hurtled closer, sending himself into an acrobatic spin just as it passed by beneath him and continued onward into the sky above. He could still feel the hairs on his arms raising, his feathers quivering... but he was alive. "It doesn't end like this. Not after all this madness." Fuast held out his palm as he hovered, the sigil there spinning faster and faster like some run away gyro scope before finally peeling off a blast of thunder that bloomed over the area like a flower, sending a wild torrent of lightning headed for the Dragon down below... Chevaleresse
Alleyway The leg was successfully redirected by Bark's attack, though the recoil would have sent him reeling. The beast remained on its belly just long enough for the spears to hit. They bounced off, causing the unholy creature to flinch slightly, though it was otherwise unharmed. It whirled back onto its feet just in time for the lightning blast to hit it head-on, causing it to let out a low sort of cry. However, the pain quickly turned to rage as the creature roared again. The membranes shrouding its body lifted to reveal that they were in fact powerful limbs with wings attached as the beast let out another deafening hiss. http://www.tubechop.com/watch/5945410
Hiss13
Many thoughts were running through Nagi's head as her spear simply bounced off the beast's belly. At some point during her drop, it had been flipped over, and her aim had been thrown off as a result. Yet, even then, she was sure her spears would have pierced through. Rather than being distraught at the failure, Nagi calmly decided to retreat. The air spear in her left hand violently expanded and scattered apart, causing a force which threw her back a few meters. As she watched the beast stand back up and take the blond's attacks, she stabbed her spear into the ground a decimeters, letting the friction between the spear and the ground as she flew backwards slow her down. As she got on her feet, she let the other spear diffuse back into the air. She simply watched as the beast then roared while expanding its wings. At this point, focusing on keeping silent is pointless now that I've revealed myself."Everyone, focus purely on restraining and keeping it contained! Simply trying to kill it will cause too much scattered collateral damage! Once we can restrain it, we can fully focus on killing it!" She announced to the rest as she started to let the gas forming the hard armor around her flow at high enough speeds that contact with it would cause heavy shearing. Raindrop Valkyrie
She heard the peel of thunder... "Somebody is fighting the Beast already? I must be slower than I used to be." Vixen thought to herself. Most of her time was devoted to solo tracking and hunting of beasts. She Didn't personally believe in any of the factions however thinking them to mostly be fanatics from what she saw from the outside. Instead she hunted the beasts that now did harm to those that couldn't protect themselves are got to close to society....and that included other Magic people like her. They could just as easily be the monsters. She knew that all too well. Now was not the time to reminisce though it was time for action. She quickly started to close in on the location of the beast using the booming crack of the thunder that she had heard. She stood on the edge of her rifle's range for the battle getting to as high ground as she could to view the battle from above. She peered through the scope of her rifle, keeping her finger far away from the trigger. She first saw a large draconian beast... large... and terrifying. It let out a horrible roar one that probably would have nearly deafened her had she been as close as the others fighting it. And that was when she noticed who they were. 3 of the ones she had seen before, the ones that forced her to stay with them fro a bit. The assassin, the Wandering man... and the strange one with the lightning. They were probably the most sensical of the ones she had met. She sighed out of relief. At least she knew them... she hating having to contest a beast with a bunch of strangers in the area. Perhaps they could use some help though? This certainly didn't seem like an easy beast to tackle even with their numbers. "Perhaps, he needs to chill out a little." Vixen thought to herself as she popped her Ice bullet from before into the chamber of her rifle. "Luckily... I still have you little snowflake... perhaps you will hinder the movement of the Beast... It be a lot easier to shoot it full of lead that way." she thought as she pulled the trigger... she aimed directly for one of the beasts flanks. It was nice chunk of flesh that no creature wanted to suddenly flash freeze on them. It made walking a painful nightmare for awhile. Beasts were tough to kill... and it rarely was as easy as one shot to the head and down. The Ice made it harder for them to retaliate, and much harder to move making Vixen's job... all the easier. Cyaloom
"Thank you" Dexter said softly to the girl who gave him that energy bar, smiling slightly before starting to eat that food. In the meantime, he started to think about what had just happened: how to transform, how to jump between buildings... so, how to dodge attacks from enemies... some important knowledge that he didn't have to forget. Now that he was "normal" again, he was starting to feel some pain like before the transformation: but, as it was just a nuisance for the blonde guy, he declared: "Alright, I am ready to go." Jory
Bark grimaced as he was recoiled from the Beast. Damn. Its armor is too strong, he thought disappointedly. Then, he saw Nagi begin to try trapping the beast instead of killing it. This was a good idea, he realized. And one I can contribute to. He swung his hammers down at the ground. A trail of broken pavement followed the shockwave as it made its way to the draconian creature, culminating in a prison of stone that grabbed the same leg Vixen had shot at. Sutoratosu
Good god...they say to focus on containing it, and yet they focus on the damn feet when this thing is obviously capable of flight...with wings like those. Faust shook his head as he hovered backwards in the air above the scene, letting a sigh in utter disappointment. I had honestly been hoping they had a bit more... sense than this. Oh well... The german didn't bother taking anymore time to gripe to himself. Like the old saying went, if one wanted something done right... Faust spread his wing wide as he focused in on the Dragon- that was honestly the only thing he could think to call it now- and it's massive wings now in full view. One by one, a few gleaming, steel hard plumes detached and hovered before him, shimmering with electricity as they all sudden went rigid, serrated teeth blooming on their edges. Faust reached out with a single hand, his sigil beginning to spin as thunder was generated. The plumes each began to mimic the spin, within moments becoming mere blurs; like electrified miniature buzz saws, just begging to be launched at something and cut through... and that's precisely what Faust let them do. They all hurtled right for the Dragon's wings, humming with the buzz of powerful electricity, Faust being fully intent on carving up and crippling the leathery flight appendages as best as he could... Chevaleresse
Takeshi's group He strolled down the stairs and walked toward the door. "Follow me." As he walked, he began explaining what they were doing. "So, I'm gonna show you around town. No, I don't care if you've lived here your whole life. This is different. I'll show you spots beasts tend to crop up, and try to teach you how to get around without attracting a lot of attention. I guess it might not be an issue for you guys but cops don't like the sight of me, so I stick to rooftops and alleys. Helps keep you fit, too." Takeshi patted his stomach as they moved through the dusty hallway of the abandoned apartment building. He squinted a bit as they left the darkened interior, the sunlight shining into his eyes. He stopped for a moment with a frown, then took off at a slightly increased pace. "Now's a good time to ask questions, by the way." Beast The ice and stone attack seemed to make some sort of impression on the monster, and when the spinning blades hit it definitely noticed, though the targeted organs remained mostly intact. It made another hissing noise, but this one was different. It had an almost electrical undertone to it, and it was an intake rather than an exhalation. Before anyone could react, the exhalation came in the form of a roiling packet of purplish energy that shot toward the ground and detonated, throwing everyone nearby into the air. The impulse was even felt by Faust. The beast scrambled up one of the nearby walls vertically, and then the dark wings stretched and carried the beast away, quick as the wind itself. . . Gavriil Noriko spotted their newest recruit from a side hall. "It's you. Good. Follow me." The young woman's tone left no room for questions. "Now that you've rested, you're ready for the next part of your training. Not that you're done with the first, mind you; this will simply buy time for your energy to build itself back up." She walked quickly with a smooth gait through the halls until she met the boy from before, Kouta. "You'll be backing me up for this patrol." He looked up nervously at Gavriil, but said nothing. They headed out of the warehouse that contained the Protector base. Instead of heading further into the section of town they were in, however - a rather poor area, by all appearances - and instead headed toward the commercial districts. "W-Where are we going?" the green-haired boy asked. "This isn't even the dangerous patrol route." "I heard about something and I want to see it for myself." The blue-haired girl replied without looking back toward Kouta, who didn't seem to mind this behavior at all. "Couldn't you send someone else?" "No." It took them a good amount of time to reach the district, and even more to reach where Noriko was headed. "Pay attention," Noriko told Gavriil along the way. "Don't block out any hunches or strange feelings, and learn the general layout of the area." Eventually, she stopped for a moment as the expression on her face rapidly grew more concerned. Suddenly, she flashed and transformed. Kouta, sensing her mood, followed her without questioning it. She reached out and firmly grasped Gavriil's wrist. "Hold on." He had a short moment to react before she leapt into the air, carried upward on a gust of wind. The fight in the alleyway became visible, and she fired off one of her spears just in time for the beast to flee, with the weapon slamming into the concrete where it stood. Flying forward rapidly, her landing buffeted those nearby with the rapid air flow. She came back up into a ready guard, eyeing them all cautiously. Kouta stood further back. His physical appearance was unchanged, but he wore a chestplate and bracers that appeared to be made of finely worked iron. They were encrusted with some sort of nearly transparent greenish crystal at the edges, and the chestplate had two lines of the stuff running diagonally across it and connecting the corners. He also appeared to have wings made of the same substance, and he held a bow that was about three quarters of his height and made of a dark, angular material. Raindrop Valkyrie
"Your not getting away that easily" Vixen thought to herself. She still was perched atop one of the far buildings, and still had line of sight to the creature. She transformed her arm, as a flash of green lightning enveloped her arm. She was holding a bullet in the palm of her hand. It charged taking the elemental lighting into itself and glowing a faint and soft green for a moment. As it stopped she she was left with a Bullet with a crackling green tip at the top. "Hopefully, this is powerful enough to cage that beast, and bring it down. But... this creature is powerful I don't know how effective this will be. The power of my lightning... to create hard-light structures never was the best. However, I must try to cage it anyway otherwise it might bring harm to other people." She loaded the bullet... and fired it over the beast. Hitting it wasn't important. The bullet would explode when she released the energy releasing a net of electrical had light. It just needed to fall onto the beast and it would automatically retract pulling it together so it couldn't move. Before it was unsafe to fire into the crowd, it might have snagged one of the other people and dragged them into the lock with the beast, which would most likely spell their doom. But now that it was in the air she had to try it. A beast of this Size and Power... it was likely to break the net. Vixen waited for the pale green light to be over the beast... that was when she would release the net and drop it... what would happen after she didn't know. ((I mean Bullets do travel fast... and not sure how well I made sure that it was known Vixen probably can't be seen by the others right now. She is that far away. Hence whatever that thing did probably didn't effect her on top of a building that far away, but I dunno it might be mad powerful lol.))
Chevaleresse
Beast The creature sensed the incoming net right before it struck. It whirled in midair, tearing at the expanding field with sharp talons before righting itself and flying off. The air around it shimmered, and it vanished from sight as it pulled out of the range of any preternatural senses.
Raindrop Valkyrie
"Dammit!!!" Vixen shouted without thinking. She placed her rifle back over her back. She cursed loudly once. She knew it probably wouldn't have worked... but it stung all the same. The Beast got away, and now it could harm more innocent people. It made her furious at the others for not defeating it sooner... but she was even more furious at herself for letting it get away. What good was she if she couldn't defeat the beasts she trained years to take down? She pulled the revolver from her belt and fired three shots at where the Beast was when it disappeared. All out of anger towards herself. She just didn't know what else to do.
Hiss13
It happened too quickly for her to notice. Jumping in while the others were barraging the beast with attacks was suicide for a close to mid-range combatant like Nagi. So, she simply decided to observe its behavior and strike once the current wave of attacks had subsided. While an ice attack that came from somewhere else entirely along with the other two combatants' attacks hit it, the thing not only seemed to remain near unscathed, but was also starting to release an attack. But, before she could react properly, the beast released a purple energy. The next thing she knew, the shockwaves of some explosion had thrown her about high in the air, especially compared to the others as a result of her small body size. As her body flew through the air, she could see the beast making its upward escape. "Oh no you don't." She muttered while forming another spear and jabbing it into the wall to allow her body to pivot into an upright position. At that moment, she let the spear dissipate gently as she created a platform to jump off of. "I am NOT letting you get away." With that, she sprung up to a height of a few meters above the roof of the building only to watch as the beast broke through a some sort of trapping net and flew off into the distance. She gritted her teeth in disgust as she landed gracefully and silently back on the roof she had left her rifle on. Even as she disengaged her transformation, an expression of disgust which would look out of place remained on her normal face. She lifted her right hand and held it out as if she were trying to grasp the space where she saw the beast fly off to. As soon as her hand clenched into a fist, she immediately slammed the side of it into the wall surrounding the elevator next to her. "DAMMIT!" The beast escaped. Even worse, that meant more denizens of the peaceful world would be dragged into the murky depths of the world that they should never have to even glance upon. It was as if some sadistic god was trying to mock everything she stood for through this simple failure.
Support Squad Felicity Posted May 21, 2015 Support Squad Share Posted May 21, 2015 Bobby was the first to speak up. "So, uh, what kind of attention is it we're trying to avoid? Jory
As the wave of purplish energy reached him, the imposing man was thrown a short distance backward. His head hit the pavement, making a thunking sound. As he got up, he watched the Beast slice through Vixen's net. "Shit...." Bark muttered as his opponent flew off unscathed. He touched the back of his head gingerly, feeling a small lump forming. Now it's going to be even more work to track it since it knows we're looking for it. Let's just hope we don't run into any Preservers, he thought to himself. He then turned to all the other people in the alley. Just as he was about to make a snarky comment a spear thudded into the concrete right in front of him, followed shortly by Noriko and Gavriil. He raised an eyebrow at the newcomer, giving her a look of appraisal. "In case you hadn't noticed, you're a bit late to the party," he said calmly. He sounded more annoyed than concerned or curious. "So are you gonna help us or try to save that Beast?" he asked Noriko, hefting one of his hammers to his shoulder. If it's a fight she wants, she'll get more than her fair share from me. Sutoratosu
"This... this right here... was precisely why they should've focused on the wings first..." Fuast was honestly a bit surprised to find himself grinding his teeth as the he watched the beast fly out of range... and then out of sight all together. He would've tried again to slash at them if it hadn't been for the pressure from that sudden shock wave forcing him to fly higher and keep his attention on getting out of the blast. "But... it wasn't all wasted. At least I got some notes on it's behavior" And then there came another buffeting of air. This one felt far different though... it was no monster that had created it, that much he was certain of. Certain because he could feel the new signatures even before he turned around and spotted the new arrivals in the alley way. "And it looks like we have company..." he thought rather bitterly. It wasn't like he had any intention of staying though; given what he had learned today, this Black Dragon would probably be... a considerable issue down the line. Especially since it seemed to be pissed off as it was fleeing. "I'd best get word back to HQ... if it manages to escalate to a certain point, and it probably will..." Without a word to anyone, still transformed, Faust rose higher into the air. The plumes that had been fired and lost against the Dragon regrew as he took off in the direction of one of the lesser well off parts of the city... having no intention whatsoever of seeing if these new arrivals were friendlies or not. Hiss13
In her moment of tunnel vision, Nagi had neglected to notice that there were other magic-users who had entered the alleyway. So, she picked up the rifle case from where she had left it and strapped it to her back before partially transforming her feet and doing a serial jump back into the alleyway. As she landed and disengaged her transformation, she heard Bark talking to the other party in a seemingly passive aggressive manner. She walked up to him and placed an arm to her side and out in front of him. "Easy there. No need to be so passive-aggressive. The last thing we need is to have some sort of confrontation between idiot magic-users in between multiple office buildings. So, why doesn't everyone simply disengage? It's not likely that the beast will be returning any time soon at this point." Edited May 21, 2015 by Hiss13
Pixl
Gavriil noted Kouta again as the party ventured into a part of town. He thought about it and realized this was the first time we had been outside. Taking in his surroundings, he felt small among the urban sprawl. There was also the fact that he was only being dragged everywhere, and as of yet had no time to act on his own. Though, he supposed that was to be natural until he was competent enough to hold himself in these new types of battle. Kouta seemed put off by the choice in route, which struck as strange to Gavriil; judging by the looks of it, they were going into a nicer part of town. The Russian would have guessed that the timid Kouta would prefer such choices, although that was of course without knowledge of the habits of their enemies or what things needed to be looked out for. Gavriil was still very much a newbie in this all--it was only his first day, after all. Yet, Noriko seemed to have a reason to bring the two along, and so bring them along she did. Gavriil did not complain as usual, and simply registered Kouta's complaints as they moved onward. After what felt like a long walk was a sharply contrasting scene in length. The beginning of the battle happened so fast that Gavriil was not even sure it had begun at all. He took Noriko's words to heart but was stopped suddenly with her touch. Kouta stepped back and seemed to acquire some armor from somewhere, but Gavriil found his feet firmly rooted in place, perhaps by confusion. It was a strange feeling to him, as if he was reading a book; his character was standing there, but he could not control it. Looking on in the third person, Gavriil saw all that went on in Noriko's dance with the devil. It was not that he was scared, but rather that the situation was quite sudden. Either way, the Russian knew that the blue-haired girl could handle herself. If Gavriil had attempted to step in at that moment anyway, he probably would have gotten in her way. Kouta has seemingly transformed and was waiting on standby for something, so Gavriil finally took control of himself and leapt back to his line. And, without realizing it, Gavriil had transformed; he had not focused on it at all, but rather he just found himself in that state. Perhaps it was the atmosphere and excitement of the situation that did it. While the mechanics of it were fascinating, Gavriil was also worried that his transformation would hinder the recovery of his energy that Noriko had wanted. Chevaleresse
Alleyway Noriko's eyes flicked back toward Gavriil, noting his transformation. Noriko let the spear lodged in front of Bark disappear, then re-materialized it in her hand. She let the other three surrounding her in various protective positions fall into place behind her, floating a few inches off the ground as Noriko herself lowered herself to it. Nagi's comment drew another sharp glance in her direction, but her attention remained focused on Bark. "Creatures like that cannot be allowed to exist. I take it you've had run-ins with the Preservers, then?" Her tone stayed even through the subject change, not betraying any of her feelings. Kouta simply stood where he was, with a determined-looking cast to his features.
Yash
Krys was walking beside Bobby, listening to the conversation, or trying to. Her mind was wandering away. Having run ins with groups is a big issue I guess. But why would they care about me? I mean I have just got my power. They probably don't even know I exist. It's not like every time somebody gets power, they all get an alert. At least I hope it isn't. She looked at Takeshi, and the other two. "Why don't cops like you?" It suddenly slipped out of her mouth, in an accusatory tone. Embarrassed by it, she quickly looked away, hoping he hadn't heard the question. Jory
Alleyway Bark's gaze hardened at the mention of the Preservers and he gripped his hammer tightly. Suddenly, his weapons and armor dissipated. His hair returned to its usual length and his street clothes were miraculously back on him. Despite not being transformed any more, he still managed to stand taller than the transformed people in the area. He noted this with satisfaction before eyeing Noriko warily. "You could say I have," he said curtly, clearly interested in playing his hand close to his chest. "And we're on the same page. That Beast is one of the more powerful ones I've had the displeasure of encountering. It seems to be a creature of depression and ill will, which makes it extremely dangerous to have running around. So maybe you Protectors should do your jobs instead of questioning the people trying to stop it."
Cyaloom
As they were walking, Dexter only listened to the other's questions without speaking. Maybe a good question would have come up in his mind listening to the people who were with him in that moment. Krys' question made him come up with a decent question that he proceeded to ask Takeshi immediately: "So, normal people shouldn't know about these magic powers, and about the Beasts. But... is that possible because we - the magical people - have to do something? For example, is a human able to see us when we are transformed and get to know magic, Beasts and all of that?"
