Global Mods Ice Cream Sand Witch Posted September 28, 2015 Global Mods Share Posted September 28, 2015 What is more important when making a judgment, the means or the ends? - [9/28/2015] They're both important, but I think the means determines whether or not you should go through with it. I'm not a believer in "the ends justifies the means". If a town was damaged from some kind of natural disaster, I wouldn't be in favor of some official like a mayor forcing all the townsfolk to work for no pay in order to fix it. The end goal of repairing all the damages is good, but the method is bad. There are other ways to do it.
Yours Truly
9/25/2015 Well i'm no youtube star but I think I can sing pretty well 9/28/2015 depends on the end and what the means are if by killing one man you save a thousand it would in the end depend on what the man is so really it can be a bit subjective. Avatar of Grima
For me it honestly depends on what the decision is about. However I'm going to take a quote for my answer "The ends hustify the means" so the ending would most likely be more important
mde2001
I'd go with the means I think. Getting a good result isn't worth doing the wrong thing so I think that the method is important.
Shing
What is more important when making a judgment, the means or the ends? - [9/28/2015] Depends on situasion.
Etesian
The ends, if they justify the means. If the overall result is good, so if the positive results at the end of it all outweigh all the bad done along the way.So killing a man to save 10, a-ok sure, we could also get into who/what the people in question are and that's something to take into account, but I'm just describing the idea here. Burning a house down to kill a spider, nope but understandable, fuck spiders Edited September 28, 2015 by Etesian
Vinny
The ends. People will never be satisfied anyway, so I'd like to at least have positive results at the end.
Juniper
One. I only have one head. I only need one hat. By that logic, you only need one pair of underwear. dead account
Both are very important things to consider. Which can be considered more important depends heavily on the situation. So, I'll just say that both are equally important to consider when making a judgement.
TRHStatement
I'd say the ends. Everyone will have opposing views on what truly the "means" are but, if you efficiently accomplish the goal or get positive results, why argue in the first place. I guess it really just depends on the situation.
Chase
This is one of those questions where my heart is screaming "the means" and my head is screaming "the ends." I think if means are unavoidable, then obviously the end justifies the means - but that doesn't make it a moral decision more than it would just be a decision that may prevent the loss of more life than necessary. If there is no reason a decision like that should be made in the first place, than the means are not justified by the end. It -is- very situational. RaymondNotRay
Agreed, this judgment is very situational. Before making the final judgment, one must make judgments of both the ends and the means and decide which is more important to all people involved (not just him/herself). SkyRunner
It's very situational. I think that they should both be considered.
ZEL
Are you usually late, early or right on time? - [9/29/2015] I have the talent to always narrowly miss trains. Always. I even manged to miss a train twice despite being at the station an hour early. Once because I was getting some food, and once because I spent too much time in the book store. The odds of me being on time are probably around 10% There's also that time where I almost didn't get back to the hospital before curfew, and only made it back by the exact minute thanks to my friend driving above the speed limit. Oops. I'm terrible.
dead account
I'm usually late. I take my time getting ready for pretty much everything and don't really rush until the moment I realise I'm short on time.
Vinny
I'm always early because I'm paranoid like that. I always imagine something bad is going to happen if I'm not on time. I can't really help myself~
Global Mods Ice Cream Sand Witch Posted September 29, 2015 Global Mods Share Posted September 29, 2015 I rarely have to be at a certain place at a certain time, but when I do, I prefer to be slightly early. I start getting ready 2 hours before I need to go.
Avatar of Grima
I'm normally early, it goes with work ethic, if you aren't 5 minutes early, you are late
mde2001
I'm always early. Five minute walk to train station- I leave 15 minutes early just in case something goes wrong. I detest being politely late which can annoy some people.
InnocentSerenity
I'm usually early. I like getting to places and seeing barely any of the people who are coming there.

SkyRunner
I usually arrive early, simply because being early is always better than being late, and I have no sense of time.
TRHStatement
I normally arrive early to things. And also, most times you get better things if you do show up early anyway.
