So, as you know, episode 15 is nearing it's completion, and so I decided to expand upon what I've mentioned previously regarding the save backup system and list just exactly will be shipping in with the episode.

So, first, I'd like to go over the list of things that were voted in the poll, and explain why we didn't actually follow any of your suggestions at all (oops)

Would you prefer multiple backup files or only one?

  1. One file per character (You'd have to swap manually)

We have identified an issue where several backup files may corrupt in a row, so we were forced to change to multiple files as a singular file ran the risk of not solving the main issue the system was designed to solve.

Would you prefer the files to be in the same folder or have multiple folders for things like different trainers?

Multiple folders

We won't be using multiple folders at least right now due to technical inviability within RPG Maker XP, though I am looking into it.

Would you like an automatic load backup system, or are you fine with doing manual backups?

Manual system

Because I managed to finish the system a lot faster than I originally imagined, so I decided to add in the automatic backup system. However, since I can't test it, it is currently only within E15's beta, and depending on the results of the beta test, the feature may be removed.

Would you like the backup save files to contain details about the playthrough, such as name, time, map, etc?

Here is how the save files curently look:

1 - Ari - 32h 27m - Peridot Ward - 12 badges.rxdata

So, the system currently shipping out with E15 will be able to backup multiple saves, indexing them several criteria such as trainer name, map, time, badges, and the game may potentially upload a previous saved file automatically should a corrupt backup file be found.

That's all folks. Enjoy your game!

Just a quick question. Let's say you have three save file of 3 different trainers. Let's just call them Bob, Thomas, and Steve. If you're running Bob's save file and you want to run Steve's, would you just rename them like before or is there going to be a different process now?

Hippos are badass, i gotta agree.

So, no possibility of reverting it back to a manual system? Just straight up removed for episode 15?

EDIT: ...Oh. ._.

Considering the "manual backup" system is literally the player manually changing the file name, there isn't really anything to revert it to.

Or (suggestion for ame but limited to 3 saves) try run a pokemon omicron style of saves

See the save files option, that is my suggestion but it might be hard to implement plus it's limited to 3 save files.

No, I have to agree with Kurotsune. A string of file iterations in a row can all become corrupt, so it's better to be able to trace back as much as possible.

Optimally, in my opinion it'd be sorted like this.

Pokemon Reborn Saves Folder:

Game.rxdata (active file) (Character named A)

(most recent file for character named B )

(most recent file for character named C)

.....etc

>Sub Folder named "Backups"

>>Sub Folder (Backups for character A)

>>Sub Folder (Backups for character B )

>>Sub Folder (Backups for character C)

Probably a bit more intricate than is practical to implement with the restrictions we have, but that's how I'd idealize the situation as.
