Raindrop Valkyrie
@PN: fine, I'll shut up for now. Still, though... you sometimes need a good Theorist, and Timeline-makers aren't uncommon. We also don't really need mis-information in our thread. We're not claiming to be and are not a Prequel for Reborn. I'd rather you not be telling people we are. And... I'm not doing this to be a jerk. It's actually not something we cann't afford. We are NOT going for an experience remotely like Reborn. This is a Fake-mon based game without the field effects etc...a.k.a. not like Reborn at all. Even jokingly saying it's a Prequel to Reborn can be catastrophic for us.Those that visit this thread know what this game really is etc... but people just popping in for the first time may not. And later down the line they might hear it by word of mouth. If there's rumors of it being a Prequel to Reborn... and they find a different experience... that might turn players completely off having not found what they wanted. It may also make some not even play or give it a chance. So... Don't care if it's for fun or a joke etc... it could legitimately bring us issues if such a rumour exists because we DO NOT WANT to be Reborn, we are going for a very different experience and one that's nothing like it. Associating us with it could really really hurt the game in a very real way. That needs to be understood. It's not a laughing matter to me when that could actually effect how our game does. Word of mouth is very important in the Fan-Game department. If you put out mis-information it could actually hurt us in the long run. So, your little conspiracy theories are cute and nice and all, but really... think before you do. Even something you think is small, could have a huge impact on us later. So before we all start yelling that I'm no fun etc...I'm quashing this down for a reason. We don't need things coming back to bite us in the butt when we are trying to get out there and be our own thing. Shoving us under Reborn's shadow will cripple us beyond belief, so don't even do it as a joke. Because on the internet it's hard to tell what is a joke and whats real information. ((the amount of times I see people quote parody news articles thinking it's legit news is a testament to that statement.)). So, don't associate us with something that we have 0 ties with Narratively. We do not want to be associated with Reborn in a game sense. Yes we use the site etc... however, this doesn't mean we want our game to falsely be seen as a Prequel. Not to mention... it be a bit disrespectful imo to pretend you can make a Prequel to someone else's work. That's like a parasite trying to leech on to something and feed off it. We're not about that, and I don't really think even as a joke it's all that funny. In short... just don't do it. We don't claim to be tied to any other fan-games and we don't want to be. We are our own thing entirely, and attaching us even us a joke... will actually do us harm if people aren't careful. Our experience is different or aims to be different from other fan games as we can be. We gotta think ahead and stuff like that being out there has the potential to confuse and misdirect the people that may want to enjoy the game we are providing and them coming in and not getting what they expect will usually end in disaster for us. Keep that in mind when doing those things. Is it unlikely? Yes. However, that doesn't make it impossible. If it's out there it has the potential. I'd rather there be no potential since we're already going to have a climb to get somewhere. Let's not make our climb that much steeper please. Always keep this in mind. Your words have more effect then jsut you and in this thread. They ripple out and can cause things to happen. Even if the ripples are small, they are still there and they can still effect things. So, be careful with things that you say... because they might not come back to bite you, but to bite someone else.

Raindrop Valkyrie
Eh if Derpy deems it worth his time I'll let him, but I'm not going to pester him about it. It's one post really and I made pretty clear I feel that it's not the case so I'm not going to get too uppity and "DESTROY ALL THE EVIDENCES!!!" Since well... it's one post right now in a mountain of other posts. I'm just quelling it before it can become something. I don't think it's too prudent when it's pretty much solved as is, and Derpy's just got bigger fish to fry than some super simple bookkeeping stuff. ((other mods not of this forum specifically as well.)) So, i'm not going to worry about it too much since well... yea It's a bit silly to go to that length. Also, rule of thumb, no one ever upvotes anything I post ever because no one actually likes me. I'm k with that though and have learned to live with it. Can't all be well likeded. NickCrash
Nobody likes plagues. Except for Abrahamic deities, of course. Aaaand, BACK ON TOPIC!!! I have already expressed my appreciation for the Nuclom. Whose idea was it and what inspired you to create it? You can provide some info about the origins of the pokemon since we will probably forget until we see it in-game.
Tomas Elliot
It was Zim who came up with the idea, this is one of those concepts that he showed me, already complete, long before we even recruited the others (remember, the embryo of this project was created back in february, and it was just myself and Zim then). So yeah, I don't know much on how this line came to be, Zim pretty much did everything on his own...
Raindrop Valkyrie
Yea I wouldn't know... I still don't even know how I ended up in this thing. It just feels like it's been forever at this point. However I don't know and awful lot other than how it eventually became a sorta Muk expy in the vein that it's the Poison mon based on pollution. ((though it could be argued it's not a proper one due to it's non mono poison typing however... I kinda feel that Radiation and Nuclear based one's deserve the strange other typing since they are suuuuper man-made more so than other types imo...)) Any besides the point... I don't know if the line was always intended this with this in mind as it was pretty much entirely complete by the time I was even around in the project. (( Hell, a lot of mons were finished by then. It part of the reason i ended up making a lot of Single stagers... it's more because I like making mons that don't have to keep getting more and more complex since I can take a concept and run with it, but not have to worry about blowing it out over three stages. I've only made 1 3 stager.)) So, it's Zim waitin' time lol. I'm sure he can enlighten you on that a bit more than I really can. ((and even when I can't I still post a decent text wall. Starting to wonder if I talk to much...))
zimvader42
I kinda answered that one question to you already Pool (can I call you Pool? yeah I know you'll let me), but pretty much the reason the Nuclom line exists is because I like the steel/poison typing, and that I have the theory that there are certain ideas that GF won't touch, radiation being one of them, so I might as well do it for them. Basically I was just chilling in my house and thought having a steel/poison would be nice. Then I drew it. Then I thought it needed something more than poison touch/poison point to reflect the whole radiation thing. Then I made radioactive. Then I wrote their stats and name down to avoid forgetting about it, and that's how they came to be. Most of the mons that I offered at the beggining started as mere mons I came up with for fun. That's why in the old CAP thread there were detailed stat/ability/name descriptions of the Ebounny line and another line in a post I made, but since they're now in a game, I took the precaution of "erasing" that post long ago xD. There were also traces of other mons that I used to talk about before starting to put them in an actual pokedex with this one guy (*wait for it*) Tomas, but I don't think those exist anymore, I either edited them or the threads just got deleted. I think there are like actually just.....uh....6/7 lines that I made specifically for this game, out of 32. EDIT: Yeah Huk, you talk a lot. You talk the truth, however, so it's all fine xD. Also what do you mean by deserving a more strange type because they're suuuper man-made? you want nuclom to be a nuclear type? lol Edited October 23, 2015 by zimvader42
Raindrop Valkyrie
Na, I mean the Steel Typing. Most of the other Pollution based mons are only Mono-Poison. However, while all pollution is technically man-made Nuclear power jsut kinda feels like... the epitome in a way... something that definitely only we'd be capable of... dunno, it jsut think it's fitting of getting another type than just being singular poison like the others. I guess I feel that Radiation is the almost destirutive pollution becuase if it gets out the effects are known for a long time and they destroy so much more in a short span of time than any other. ((as any nuclear accidents can attest to. Hell... near where I live is Three Mile Island a Nuclear paltn that had a meltdown in my home state of Pa a while back. It's been like... 20 years maybe since that happened and people that live near there still get disturbed anti-radiation medicine and it's been that long afterwards, Radiation is just no joke. And no, I don't live within the area they do that I just know they still do it XD. I'm out of the "blast zone" so to speak lol.))
zimvader42
Well, even keeping in mind all you said about radioactivity being a special kind of pollution and all, the actual reason why the Nuclom line was made part steel is because Uranium is literally a metal. So is plutonium, and all actinides for that matter. The poison type comes from the reason that, well, as you just said, radioactivity is highly poisonous to most (if not all) living things. Also kind of a trivia thing, I originally intended radioactive (Nuclom's ability) to be ineffective against bug types besides steel and poison which cannot be poisoned in any case. I thought this was a cool side effect to keep the myth that insects such as cockroaches aren't affected by radiation living. I got rid of that idea before presenting the ability, as in this game there are a lot of bug, steel and poison types, so this ability's use would have been greatly diminished. In real life, insects are not immune to radiation, but the effects a long exposition has on them varies a lot from the one it has in other groups such as mammals. Basically the organisms that are "immune" to radiation in Earth are a small group of bacteria that can withstand energy levels thousands of times greater than those humans can. Cockroaches are halfway there: if you gather enough radiation, you can actually kill them.

NickCrash
@Zim y u no call me any other alias? (thinking of changing my name back) @Azery, I suggest you guys put some hints of the story (or even character backstory) of the region, to the sidequests, just to give the audience an extra incentive. Also, regarding radiation, since I took a Radio-protection (in physics) class, I know that the immediate effects of it are diminished several months after the nuclear outburst. Even the "cloud" has to settle somewhere. Avoiding to eat vegetables, dairy products and meat from the specific regions for 3-4 months and you should be ok. The reason is that U, Rd, Ra, and PU, all have a small time of "half-life" (not correct translation). At the same time, how deep the rays will enter (range) depends on simple Compton and Reyleigh effects. Therefore, after that time, it's basically safe to consume products from the regions in the blast radius (including all that the cloud has ended up on) and live a normal life. The various aftereffects of the radiation were of course no joke, with multiple people being affected into having cancer and/or deformities. However, now, in 3m-isle due to the radius and how small the cloud was, the average radiation input in each person is more or less about the equivalent of 1 x-ray. So, it's perfectly safe (given an x-ray (low dose, low LET) may increase your chance for cancer about... let's see... 0.0005%). Now we had multiple uninformed women who decided to stop their pregnancies due to fear, even if they had received much less than 100mSv (which is the minimum to even consider stopping it) which means about 10k people died for nothing as others thought that the radiation was much worse than it really was. Now, I do not know how the "medicine" those guys receive will work, since radiation effects cannot be stopped with casual meds with the exception of those who stop the creation of "free e-" in the cell, but that's something you can do with VitC as well, thanks to its anti-oxidization properties. * As correctly mentioned above, most insects need a LD50/60>1000Gy as a lethal dose (while humans need 5Gy). I believe your ability would become much more complicated if you included the bugs, but it would make sense. Since it causes TOX instead of PSN, and has double the opportunities to do so, shouldn't you decrease the chance to 20%? You know, just to keep it non-broken. *I could provide multiple power-point presentations full with citations about this subject but a. I don't have time to translate and b. not sure whether you'll read it all

Nova
We're back for two very very important announcement! Firstly, the beta stage of the game is almost about to start! In this stage, we'll polish some of the spritework, add a few extra features, and fix some bugs and other errors. After that, Chapter One is ready for release! The beta stage will take no longer than two weeks, which means Chapter One will be coming very, very soon! Along with that, since this will most likely be the last announcement before the actual first chapter, we have decided to give you a large introduction and insider post to the main characters and Rivals! The Heroes As with other games, you will be given a choice between a male and female character. The differences are merely aesthetic, so don't worry about that. Similarly to Black and White, our main characters are somewhat older than the regular ones, since Graterras is quite the dangerous place! The in-game names and personalities are up for the players to decide, but what is known about the heroes is that they are from Elmiet Town, having spent their childhood living there. Now, they are ready for adventure! These are the heroes of Graterras: Jason and Zoey! Jason is the male main character. If you don't know your Greek mythology (which I don't blame you for), Jason is a heroic character in the Greek mythos, which is, therefore, the origin of his name! There are many more mythological references throughout the game, so keep an eye out for them! Zoey is the female main character! She's practically my first ever and most favorite brain-child of this project, along with a species of Pokemon designed by me that I particularly adore. However, this post isn't for that. Zoey's name origin is from Joey, which is a common name for a baby kangaroo. Quite fitting for an Australian heroine, isn't it? And, in case you were wondering, Youngster Joey is in Graterras as well, and his Ebounny is indeed in the top percentage of Ebounny. The Rivals The Rivals are your childhood friends, and are also allowed to pick a Pokemon to start on their journey! You will travel together and accompany each other on your journey in Graterras. Below is a small introduction to both of them, but we'll only be revealing a very small part of their character. Here they are: Timothy and Catherine! Timothy is your first rival, born and raised in the same town of Elmiet. Timothy is a rather timid individual, and can have some problems due to his shyness, but he's goodhearted and a great friend. Catherine is your second rival, born from a very rich family. Her wealthy background can make her haughty at times, but she has a sweet side as well, and a passion and talent for Pokemon battles is in her blood! These are, of course, just small parts of their full character. What secrets do they hide? What will they discover on their journey? Stay tuned for the next Chapter of Pokemon Se7en, now actually coming really soon!
