Pokemon Se7en - Currently on hiatus

It's been a while since we last announced something! And it has been even longer since I did an announcement of my own! So yeah, with things finally settling down around Episode 1 (all the major issues are solved, and those who first started it have finished it by now), and quite a long way untill Ep 2, I thought it best to give you guys a little something to talk about. So without further ado, here is Xenova!

Remember Pikrieg, and how I stated that guy was part of the "original trio" of Pokemon I had created for another project, five years ago? Welp, this is another member of said trio, and in fact, this is the very fist concept for a fakemon I ever came up with. You see, expanding more on what I just said would mean revealing details on this guy's evo(s), and that is against our policy for announcements, but... Let's just say that this idea here is so old, I had actually made a post in the old "create a Pokemon" topic, beore I even started this project. In fact, that very post allowed me to meet Zim, which in retrospect was the original root of Pokemon Se7en: how appropriate, then, that it would be Zim himself to help me refine the idea by introducing elements from no other than Alien (yes, I mean the Ridley Scott movie), and by helping me come up with a name!

Anyway, this guy here is a pure Poison-type Pokemon, and its ability is Suction Cups. One or more of these characteristics may change upon evolution (feel free to speculate on this regard). Actually, the third and final member of the "original trio" will be available in Ep 2, while this guy will be found at a much later point... So why did we announce this and not that? Welp, because Zim had a vectorial artwork ready for this :P

Oh and speaking of Zim: remember when I said that the things that form his "lore" are friggin' disturbing? Yeah, this is the one line that cramps up the disturbing level. Here, have a sketch of this thing doing horrific things to an innocent, defenseless Magikarp:

poison_dark_c_by_zimvader42-d8u745f.jpg

With this I conclude my announcement. Feel free to pass time discussing this guy!

Mercedes Xenova :P Seriously though, the Mercedes-shaped eyes are an amazingly good-looking bit. Looks really cool anyway. Kinda sad that it's blue and living in water but not a water type.

The important question: if Magikarp evolves before getting destroyed from the inside, how do things go between Xenova and Gyarados?

It is technically purple, but yeah it is a parasite OF water types, not one itself lol

And if magikarp evolves before getting consumed, welp, gyarados is getting consumed then. No real problem there bro.

This is why we need the headcannon thread at that point, to explore all these different scenarios with you, Shin-senpai. Gyarados is a completely different beast from a simple Karp. The endgame's the same, but the in-between phaze matters:

-Gyarados is weakened by the parasites inside him and becomes a shell of itself

-Gyarados' energy and nutrients are mostly absorbed by the parasites, making Gyarados raise its food consumption to insane levels to satiate its needs, eating anything in sight and annihilating its ecosystem

-Gyarados goes insane from the pain and strain caused by the parasites, going into blind rampages even more often and more violent than ever

-the parasites-infused Gyarados takes on a new form, or even an evolution, Slowpoke+Shelder=Slowpokevos kind of thing

-a combination of the above

A song of water and dragons

-Gyarados slowly understands that the pain is not going away. No matter how much it eats or destroys, nothing is the same

-Gyarados realizes there are forms of power, other than brute strength.

-Its vitality is decreasing, even if its HP stat has risen.

-Gyarados succumbs to the pain and accepts its demise

-At the same time, the xenobiotic organism inside Gyarados rejoices and continues to devour its intestines

-Xenova found enough room to evolve

-Gyarados writhes in pain, but thinks of a solution to its problem, something few have dared before

-Mega evolving was not the answer, after all. Gyarados is filled with rage because it cannot save itself no matter what.

-Despair envelopes the creature that a few days ago used to be the terror of the waters.

-The pain grows. Gyarados lets out a scream.

-The creature is ready to come out of its "shell"

-Gyarados sees its whole life pass in front of its eyes, just like that Hypno once told it.

-It coughs blood.

-It lets out a tear.

-Ever since it was little, Gyarados's deepest wish was to become a dragon.

-Unfortunately, its dreams were never meant to be.

-The days of Magikarp are long gone, but just this once since its evolution, Gyarados feels content with what it is.

-It may not be its decision

-But for one final time Gyarados is going to....

-...splash.

Lol that was super sad.

But then again, science!!!! after insects, nematodes (also known as "roundworms") are one of the most successful kinds of animal in the whole world: this is true to the point pretty much every single animal and plant has at least one species of nenatode that is parasitic to them.

Nematodes are also everywhere on the planet: water, ground, tissues of other living things, ice, deep down the earth and even deep down the oceans, in places that are hot and in places that are cold: in terms of biomass, they're so damn abundant that in a metre of ground there can be even up to 4.4 million nematodes in standard conditions. Statistically, every individual of a natural poblation is set to be infested with one of these things at least once during their lives.

The success of roundworms in nature is in big part due to their simple yet adaptable corporal design: an intestinal tube and big testicles/egg sacks, all surrounded by a pressurized fluid, all surrounded by muscle, all surrounded by skin, all surrounded by a thick wall. All completed with a mouth, anus, and "sort of" penis/vagina.

These things resemble worms, but are so damn thick and sturdy you can't even believe. Even after dead, these fuckers' pressure is so big that if you pierce them with a needle the liquid inside them comes out like a jet. They are so pressurized they can't eat or reproduce without performing movement or having special appendages to grab and open each others' holes.

And the wall that covers them is like a literal armor: nematodes resist high levels of salt, acid, heat, cold, venom, and whatever you want to throw at them. They don't even care. They can't care, unless what is outside happens to come near some of the few sensitive spots on their armor.

There are roundworms ranging from less than a milimetre to around 8/10 metres. Even whales have nematode parasites.

But after them....there's also platyhelminthes, also known as flatworms. If roundworms are the kings of unholy resistance to everything, flatworms are the kings of disturbing life cycles.

Almost all of them are parasites, and they include lots of steps in their life cycles. Snails and other molluscs are usually the first host they need (reason why "funny eyes dubstep snails" videos on youtube exist on the first place), but they infect almost fucking everything much like roundworms. These have suction cups, however. Once they get attached to, say, an intestine they like, they won't let go unless so they please. And they make THOUSANDS of eggs.

Among flatworms, the one that causes the disease of the solitary might be the most famous to y'all. It's a worm whose cycle just happens to need humans at some point. They can grow so damn long and absorb so much food that people with these usually become skinnier, among other things.

Xenova was kinda based on those two, at least design-wise. And that's the reason why it can make a gyarados cry in pain.

I concur. This is actually the only exam I have to retake (microbiology I - even if it also has germs - and I didn't like my grade, so I had it failed)

Actually the parasite pokemon looks nice. I hope it doesn't turn into a water pokemon, but then again, it is to be expected. I like it, and probably we'll hurt a lot before even thinking of owning one. That of course in case it needs us to solve a weird puzzle or beat a hard boss, because... if it's luck of encounter again, you know you can't stop us.

.....oh....it's the intestinal parasite known as Xenova....Tomas man, don't let Zim touch the lore again, he makes disturbing stuff If very cool looking :P

Anyways, nothing to see here ladies and gentlemen, just the deadliest little shit in the region, the one parasite that exceeds even Elftik.

Nah, we keep such grueling challenges for other thingies. As for what this guy is going to become, I can only repeat: this is the first fakemon idea I've ever had. And I posted it, labeled as such, in the old fakemon thread, before I even got to meet Zim (in fact, that very post lead me to meeting Zim). So now if you were a real fan, you'd dig up the old fakemon thread, track down my post, and get yourself some free spoilers :P

Also @Red, according to Zim's size comparison table, this thing becomes nearly ten times its current size upon evolving.

Yes, it does.

And in reply to Tomas, wasn't the old CAP thread deleted? I couldn't find it anywhere after I deleted Ebounny's and Elftik's lines from it :/

Yes, the first one was indeed deleted, but if you remember, that is not the one in which we met each other. The one in which we met each other is the one started by SilverJakler: I just found it and what do I know, not only is my post with the idea for this line there, apparently a conversation of yours with another person, which lead to the birth of one of the fossil lines of our game, is also there...

Shouldn't you like, edit or delete that stuff?

And yeah I think I posted ebounny in the first CAP thread, so if that one disappeared then I left no tracks nyehehe

Nah. If people are willing to put the effort in tracking down such an old post, they deserve the juicy little spoiler :P

Oh, okay then.

Let's see how many of them actually do look for it and come back. I'll set the counter: [0][0][0]

Read at your own risk, as spoilers are here:

Too slow ;)

While this isn't the original-original post, I do believe it is relevant the Pokémon in question. Tbh, I mostly just looked for this because a challenge was issued. I didn't actually care about the spoilers all that much. The Alien comment that Tomas made was what told me I was onto something.

While I applaud your determination, please remove the part in the spoiler. If people want those info, they gotta look for them themselves! Don't make this any easier for them!
