Commander
Eh, I just feel it's like that sometimes lol. I kinda don't think I'll all that deserving of the respect and admiration I seem to have around here sometimes. But, that probably cause I know my own faults etc... and I certainly don't want people to put more weight into the words I say because it's me saying them lol. I think that's what I mean lol. Praise Lord Huk, King of RP. I'm kidding. No seriously, I'm kidding about that. No, I didn't mean what I said like that LOL. Kind of putting words in my mouth. Your experience does shine through as an RP host and player which is why I kind of mentioned the things you and Startos said should be considered. If I strongly disagreed with something, I would've pointed it out.
Chim
Yeah, too many RPs can be a bit overwhelming. 3 kingdoms certainly gives me concern there will be huge delays due to the design (meaning all three will always be fighting each other at the same time) which is why I learn more towards 5 kingdoms with a King, 1 general, and 3 different lowered class type Pokemon (I can't remember there names off the top of my head). That'd be 25 characters (5 per kingdom) in all plus mercenaries. (If there are too few players, we could cut a kingdom since this is designed more for 8-10 RPers). I can't really say anyone is right or wrong as Stratos and Huk do have more RP experience than I do. My suggestions are simply based on the shortcomings of this RP. Here's a crazy idea: Tyrant can go with the original 7 kingdoms, but make only three of them playable. But I would advice a co-host for this since it would require a lot of time on his part. It can solve some problems like huge delays since players will be able to invade an 'NPC Kingdom', Tyrann can add some of the history he wants when it comes to NPC Kingdoms and he doesn't need to protect the main cities. He can also introduce some Kingdoms later on and make only the names knowledgeable from the start. By doing this there are still ways for the players to create history and Kingdoms and you only need 3 experienced people to play King / Queen. The amount of NPCs is kept to a minimum since you don't use all of them at once and would only focus on the most important figures of a Kingdom anyway. Give the name of the Kingdom, their known military power and the name of the King / Queen from the very start and let things unfold. Don't go overboard with the difficulty to conquer them. Give them all unique traits and ways to conquer. It's fine if there's one Kingdom that's superhard due to military power, but not all of them. One can be more difficult due to allies or even a piece loving Kingdom that would rather talk things through. Just make sure that the players have 3 interesting Kingdoms they can do a lot with. I used to 'run' Underdark and I felt like it had a lot of potential. (Someone already mentioned this but it can easily develop into a Kingdom that was forced to go underground many years ago and now wants to go back to the surface. I planned for them to have incredible defensive measures unlike Permafrost's invading power). Some more suggestions: - Maximum 2 characters each. - No Legendaries for the reasons Stratos already mentioned. - Kings / Queens for experienced players that don't powerplay or won't allow defeat because they want to conquer everything. Go for players that would still continue even though they lost their Kingdom and power. (Potential interesting story / character development right here) - Fix your battle system. Put a limit on the moves so it would force players to be more creative. It's fine for every common Pokémon to know 4 moves while a King can know 8, but 30 moves or everything in their moveset is a bit much. 8 is a nice max. (An extra move can be obtained as they rise through the ranks)
Raindrop Valkyrie
So, with all the settled and what has been said has been said, I think I should probably lock this thread. I am of the opinion that the revamp for this should probably come with not only the new rules etc... but also be accompanied by a new OOC. As I'm sure most of the IC would restart, the OOC should restart with it as well as any interest checks etc done for the revamp. It took me awhile to deem if this was the correct course of action or not, but I believe to be. A revamp should be a revamp in every sense and with not only a new IC thread, a new OOC should come as well rather than using the old one. This is of my personal Opinion, but I think it will be a lot less daunting for the new blood players to see a brand new thread then one that is 36 pages in that they think they might have to read all of to understand what's going on etc... a lot of info would also no longer be pertinent etc.. So I think it's better a new Thread for it. I will be locking this thread by the end of today. I hope that if you do decide the Revamp Tyrann that it gets the players you are looking for and goes a lot more smoothly this time. After all the idea is brilliant and I want to see it succeed. I Hope you take into mind some of the advice given here as I'm sure they mean to help improve the systems and experience of the RP. I hope to see it out there in the future in the RP forums again. But, I'm going to have to lock this bad boy. No hard feelings, just I personally believe that with a revamp should come total renewal. I suggest moving any outstanding conversations here to PM, cause for now this thread going to be locked. Hope you guys understand and have a nice day. I look forward to seeing Battleground second Debut if it's meant to come lol. Hukuna Sensei out~
