Popular Post BIGJRA
EDIT: The guide is updated to E19! This means that the guide now contains spoilers for E19 content. Credit to @CosmanCosmin for creating their own updated version of the guide and helping with updates. You can find their guide here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lhsFND-Zc6vwquBpYmYODVOYHLhsuXvs1j8Gfu9It8k/edit?usp=sharing --- This is a list that shows at a quick look what different Pokemon are available at any given time in game in a monotype run. Each spoiler is a new badge length of the game, including the most readily available member of the evolution line of the Pokemon, and does not mention Pokemon available in previous areas. Italics indicate Pokemon that will evolve into a type. Underline indicates Pokemon that will lose that type by their final evolution (mainly, for collecting, unless you want to use badge 17 Azurill for Normal type) *Asterisks* indicate Pokemon who are available by chance or choice earlier in the game, then reliably again later in the game. If you miss a chance or want all options of a choice, follow the asterisks to the second usage. Strikethrough indicates Pokemon which will have a mega-evolution that changes into the target type, such as Sceptile -> Dragon. Whether or not these are legal for your monotype run are up to you. All types that do not feature any new Pokemon will be listed at the bottom of each spoiler tag. There are some passwords that can help you: this guide assumes you will use the "mono[type]" password for each respective type: this guarantees/changes certain encounters. There are other passwords that can give certain Pokemon earlier: these will be indicated. Starters NOTE: To obtain Eevee as a starter, use "eeveeplease" password. To obtain Vulpix or Alolan Vulpix as a starter, use "vulpixpls" password. To obtain Porygon as a starter, use "monowoke" password. pyrromanis
Really good job and very helpful guide!!!Just a note, numel is available only after you defeat julia and for the ground starters you confused piplup for mudkip
Odybld
Great idea and great job! You missed some little things like Pumpkaboo between Corey and Shelly, Lunatone being an either/or with Solrock, and then Carvanha, Barboach and Houndour are available after Shelly. Will look if there's more. Ghost actually gets 7 'till Aya (Shuppet, Yamask, Pumpkaboo, Duskull, Spiritomb, Misdreavus and Shedinja),Ice is the one that gets only 4 (Vanillite, Smoochum, Swinub, Cubchoo)

Another Felix
Well, that kind of sucks for anyone hoping to do a Ghost monorun. There really should be a starter that becomes Ghost type next generation. Water/Fairy Grass/Dark Fire/Ghost (I feel that Ghost should be super-effective against Fairy. Don't know why.)

According to the Reborn EV training guide that part of the UR has only Stunky and Noibat at that point... I might be wrong; will check later. ArthurZH
Something I'd like to add, you can get Lotad for Water Types pre-Florinia, post-Julia. Noticed you didn't put it there. Also, don't forget Eevee for post-Aya Pre-Serra, where u can get Flareon/Vaporeon/Jolteon/Espeon/Umbreon/Leafeon/Glaceon/Sylveon
Mortally Divine
I get back after 5 months of living life being busy, finally summer, see this thread, roll through steel and I see you have forgotten something! (OH NOES)! No need to fear, I am here to save the day! (Yaaayyy!) Anyways! Magnemite / Magneton / Magnezone is available in the wild inside of Shade's Gym, not sure when you can first access that, but you can catch those guys as a wild pokemon. Also, I don't know when you can first reach Beldum, but he is also obtainable at some point. I know you haven't gotten to Lucario, but don't forget to include him <3. Thanks! iowayshay
Sooo, I really want to do a fairy monotype, any suggestions? I'd probably have to ask someone to help me get a starter, right? like the save file editing thing?
BIGJRA
For fairy it's really up to you. You can get a starter and use it until you get Igglybuff/Cleffa, or you can hack in a starter. If you don't want to go through that trouble you could use your starter and Igglybuff/Cleffa for Julia, then get Snubbull and ditch the starter. Courtesy
This is INCREDIBLY helpful, but one of your listings leaves me a bit confused. In bugs, it claims I can find a combee and pineco BEFORE julia. But I need headbutt, and I thought I only got headbutt later? Where can I get headbutt before Julia? Or did that list not consider the conditions required to nab those pokemons spawn locations?
Mortally Divine
You can get headbutt from a bidoof reaching level
Courtesy
oh dear. That is vaguely problematic. I'm not sure if using Bidoof to access a move to capture other pokemon is exactly allowed in a monotype run? I'll have to ask around.
