Deleted User
Favorite: 10. Thick Fat: This one really is what made Mega Venusaur and also quite a few other pokemon such as the dreaded CurseLax. Don't get me wrong I like a little fire here and there (fuck Ice though) but this can make pokemon not quite so.... fragile to particular threats. 9. Reckless: I mean what's not to love? You get to kill your opponent even faster! Sure it may mean you hurt yourself a bit harder at times but sometimes it's good to help serve as a wall breaker. 8. Magnet Pull: Unlike Shadow Tag, Magnet Pull is for specific situations meaning that it can be worked around if played correctly, and hence I don't see it as being quite so overpowered. It can really help Magnezone deal with those pesky Skarmory, Scizors and Ferrothorns that just seem to last FOREVER. 7. Levitate, This is a bit of a sentimental thing here with Flygon. It also makes pokemon like Gengar, Eelektross that much more threatening. Not only that but it makes pokemon who would otherwise have to settle for a 'flying type' logically be freed up to have a proper secondary type like Hydreigon. 6. Trace: OK, this one is just more because it's fun more than anything else. It's like..... a magically hat you can always pull something out of to make it a different experience each time. 5. Sheer Force: PURE. RAW. UNBRIDLED. POWER. No tricks. No gimmicks. No games. Just hit them, and hit them hard. I'll say this it's fun using this ability. But when you go up against it with a Life Orb user, is can be absolutely terrifying. 4. Technician: I really like this move because it opens the door for a ton of moves that otherwise would hardly see the light of day in Competitive. most commonly run on Scizor and Breloom, it lets players use moves like Force Palm, Rock Tomb, Bug Bite etc. These moves would be in the pokemon move Graveyard otherwise. 3. Unaware: Oh I'm sorry were you setting up? I didn't notice . In a meta that set up sweepers can run rampant within the most common tier of OU, Unaware often times forces players to not bother setting up so long as said pokemon with Unaware is still around and kicking, it makes the game all that more of a chess match and not just 'I just killed his mon so now he can send in a set up sweeper in a favorable matchup and proceed to tear a huge hole in my team because of it.' 2. Storm Drain: It doesn't heal the user, but it gives a nice little SpA boost and drinks water. You're opponent has to think twice before it spams that stupid scald which ALWAYS BURNS. See Cradily Will F*** You Up. #StillThirsty 1. Mold Breaker: Because screw yo abilities bruh. No but really. It's great to use against pokemon who think they're all cute with Levitate (the irony) like Rotom-Wash or Multiscale Dragonite or just about anything else you can think of. I don't like YOUR abilities so get them out of my face. Least Favorite: 10. Multiscale - This is early in the list because it's easily dealt with by having stealth rocks on the field. Dragonite did need the boost being 4x weak to Ice. But it can be really annoying at times to say the least using it and going against it. Paired with weakness policy, used right, this makes Dragonite a nightmare. 9. Contrary - Serperior.... and Malamar. No they're not HUGELY overpowered. However Contrary can get really stupid, really fast. One mistake against a mon with Contrary can mean the game in their respective tiers. 8. Skill Link - You have Focus Sash? Sturdy? I don't care. Skill Link with the speed of Cloyster after using Shell Smash is so damn frustrating. It's also what makes Mega Heracross different from Normal Heracross. It makes certain moves used more, but it can really suck to go against most of the time. 7. Magic Bounce - This one isn't so bad, it just makes you have to think twice... about EVERYTHING that isn't just ATTTTTTACK!!!! Just makes the game a bit more one dimensional in my opinion. 6. Serene Grace - The ultimate 'I'M HAXING AND I KNOW IT', cool lets just spam moves that flinch and paralyze the opponent so they never get to have a turn! THAT SOUNDS LIKE SO MUCH FUN. It's not fun to use against anyone you like, and it's certainly not fun to go against what so ever. 5. Shadow Tag - This one IS broken. It's not on too many pokemon but damn. Basically if you get caught, you're screwed out of whatever you had going. Tricking a choice scarf onto one of your valued walls or hazard setters (sometimes one in the same). Really leaves you.... naked so to speak. 4. Gale Wings - Fuck Talonflame. 3. Speed Boost - This ability makes pokemon stoopid fast for just no real reason. Protect, speed boost is annoying, but when you throw Baton Pass into the mix it just gets plain asinine. Throw in another set up move and it can make just about any mon a sweeper for little effort. I'm looking at you Scolipede. 2. Poison Heal - This is probably the most broken ability in the game. 1. It heals (1/8th) of the users HP every turn and 2. It protects from ALL other statuses afflicting the pokemon in question. Gliscor is annoying. It's even more annoying when it can recover it's HP at the same rate it takes to permanently sub stall you into oblivion. 1. Regenerator - I JUST KILLED YOU. YOU WERE DEAD. WHY DO YOU SUDDENLY HAVE BASICALLY FULL HEALTH AGAIN? PLEASE STOP. This ability alone often times ruins RU for me, fortunately it's been trimmed down a bit with Slowking's departure to UU. Noivy
Gonna start with my least favorites first because my hatred of things is more memorable than my favorites, which i'll edit in later. least favorite 10: Skill link. Pokemon Reborn's Noel has made me hate this ability, especially with Cincinno. Any fast mon with multi-hit can go full choo choo mode. When you pair it with a Razor Fang, it turns the abuser into a very scarey flinch-haxxing machine. 9: Pixelate. fuck fairy types. nuff said. 8: Mummy. listen here you little shit. Switching a mummy into a physical attack is a pretty good way to say fuck you to a lot of things. It ruins my generally very picky physical playstyles as soon as I am prepared to destroy. 7. Imposter. You better check yourself before your wreck yourself, because any ditto that comes in on a stat buff will instantly be your demise. 6. Stance Change: Fuck aegislash 5. Gale Wings, see above post 4. Protean: fuck greninja 3. Serene Grace: flinch paralyzed flinch flinch paralyzed flinch flinch flinch flinch flinch paralyzed flinch flinch flinch paralyzed flinch flinch flinch flinch paralyzed paralyzed flinch flinch flinch flinchflinch flinch flinch flinchflinch flinch flinch flinchflinch flinch flinch flinch this mechanic is fair and balanced. 2: Unaware. Fuck you. Fuck your shit. get out of this game. (i spend a good amount of time setting up) 1: Prankster. I have a love-hate relationship with this ability. I love it because it expands so many options in battle, but is easily face-turned-heel, and it's hell to deal with. Ame's gen 5 team still gives me nightmares. Chase
Favorite 10. Unaware - Clefable, Quagsire, and Wooper are memorable Pokemon who have made games for me with their ability to disregard boosted stats. It's simple. Use these guys when otherwise the match would be wrap and turn things around. Great emergency button ability. 9. Gale Wings. - I used to hate Talonflame because the ability is a little "cheep" - but thanks to Little Cup, I can see where a little spammable any attack I want would be nice. It's another thing that turns games around. It also makes the whole Fletchling line viable where it otherwise wouldn't be, which I can respect. 8. Inner Focus - I've won many a match against Mega Lopunny users by the sheer fact that people forget Mega Gallade gets this ability. It's like playing Black Magic. It only fools people once, but when you get them, it feels Ooooh so satisfying. People said this ability was supposed ot suck too... 7. Contrary - Serperior wouldn't be in OU without this ability. I like Serperior, therefore, I like Contrary. 6. Multiscale - Yes, please. Weakness Policy Dragonite is good. 5. Solid Rock - This ability is just cool, and is definitely one of my favorites despite being a defensive oriented ability. 4. Speed Boost - A.K.A. Mega Sharpedo / Carvanha just swept your team. 3. Moxie - More...MORE....MOOOOOOORE...MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR- 2. Shed Skin - I don't have time for status conditions. 1. Sheer Force - "UNLIMITED POWER" - Darth Sideous --- Least Favorite 10. Defeatist - So basically. GameFreak hates Archeops.....I see how it is. 9. Pixilate - Hyper Voice being a Fairy type is cool.....when it's Mega Gardevoir using it. Back off, Ribbons. 8. Aerilate - MegaMence. Mega Pinsir. Ya'll need to chill out. 7. Toxic Heal - This is a cool ability that is just a wee bit overpowered. I like the concept, but the amount healed should be nerfed. 6. Damp - BOOM?....WHY NO BOOM? WHY........Maan... 5. Serene Grace - The best way to lose friends since Mario Party or Uno. 4. Prankster - Really....I'm FASTER than you. How are you just going to be able to will-o-wisp my whole TEAM....ARGH.... 3. Magic Bounce - Man, I got you those webs and rocks because I LOVE YOU. I don't want you to just give me them BACK....that's RUDE. 2. Skill Link - Well. Thanks Mega Heracross and Sash Cloyster. Ya'll some jerks. You too Cinccinno. 1. Regenerator - This ability makes want to tear my hair out as someone who plays RU and sees it on pretty much every team. --- Honorable Mentions: Bulletproof - Only one line of Pokemon has this ability. And it's my favorite. Chesnaught has the ability to completely wall a Gengar (Sludge Bomb, Shadow Ball, Focus Blast, and a non attacking move.) with it. Neat! Cursed Body - This ability isn't very good, but there is definitely some satisfaction from seeing a move disabled. Motor Drive - My favorite "annoying" pokemon is Emolga, and I use it for the devilish task of Agility passing anyway. Thank you for forgetting Electric attacks help me out, Sir. It also makes Electivire a serious threat. --- Dishonorable Mentions: Intimidate - What is it with people and ruining my Physical attackers.... Desolate Land/ Primordial Sea - ....GameFreak....the PowerCreep police called....we're reaching Dragonball-Z levels here. Hustle - Fuck you, Durant. zimvader42
Least favourite: 10 - Hustle: increases power, but if it can miss, it will miss. My lack of luck with this ability makes me hate it a bit inside. 9 - Shadow Tag: ghost is my favorite type, but shadow tag has fucked me over enough times already, it gets kinda ridiculous after a time. 8 - Natural cure: yo, listen bruh.... I just worked my ass out to put toxic spikes in the field, and I burned you, and I had thunder waved you.... why the fuck do you come in again with no actual proof that I ever did those? Damn you Celeby, fucking' onion fairy. 7 - Fur coat: Furfrou, why you do this to me? 6 - Liquid Ooze: I happen to find the ONLY Tentacruel in the sea that uses this.... and switches right into muh leech seed. 5 - Moxie: stop getting so cocky. 4 - Parental bond: bruh....you and your son are both dicks. 3 - Plus: useless. 2 - Minus: useless. 1 - Prankster: fucking, lil' shit. Sableye you're NOT faster than me, stop will-o-wisping the shit out of my physical attacker. Stop living, for that matter. I'm also looking at you Klefki 0 - Desolate Land: this is no ability. This is madness. I have a soft spot for creation abilities that are broken and OP as fuck, but this, come on now, this is the reason a Volcanion+Primal Groudon combination will be deadly in the future. As for favorites: 8 - Speed Boost: mainly just in ninjask because is his only redeeming quality. As for baton passing it....I've had my tries with Scolipede, but Blaziken and Sharpedo with it....disgusting, as both mega evolve just after. 7 - Trace: Gardevoir just traced thick fat!....somehow....maybe it just got fat for the occasion? Anyways you can have a lot of resource with this, like tracing wonder guard, speed boost, huge power, etc. 6 - Protean: lol I get STAB on anything I use, try getting a super effective on me scrub 5 - Wonder Guard: lol do something to me, I double dare ya 4 - Poison Heal: gliscor user here, haii. 3 - Huge power: turns a cutey like Azumarill into a buff monster of RAW AQUATICAL STRENGTH. 2 - Sandstream: I just find the fact that some pokemon can generate a darude to be amazing, really. 1 - Magic Guard. Hell yes. No indirect damage. No status. No weather. No hazards. Attack me you lil' bitch! Give your magic guarder either a life orb for DESTRUCTION or a toxic orb/flame orb for TROLLING. I love this thing. Edited May 17, 2015 by zimvader42
Administrators Amethyst Posted May 18, 2015 Administrators Share Posted May 18, 2015 I'm skipping the least favorites cuz there really aren't any abilities I dislike... My list would just be the countless abilities that are next to worthless (not even counting stuff like truant; at least that makes a difference vs.... hyper cutter... damp... etc) Favorites: 10- Pixilate: I rather like its sister abilities as well, but Fairy type is best type and it sounds digital-ish too so we're going with this one. 9- Drizzle: More rain pls. give 5th gen. 8- Unaware: I like this one solely because I think it would be my ability. I'm sorry, did you say something? I forgot to listen. 7- Trace: Perhaps a common theme on this list, I like abilities that allow you to make plays, so to speak. Switching into copy someone's flash fire or magic guard is one my favorite things to do. 6- Regenerator: I'm naturally inclined to stall. Being able to take an advantage out of switching is very appealing to me. I also really like the idea of regenerator cores, although there's less effective type synergy there than I would like. 5- Contrary: Similar to Pixilate in that it opens up some various strategies, while also creating a space to laugh at stuff like intimidate and sticky web... I'm a fan. ...even if Serperior is my bane. 4- Shadow Tag: Come. Sit. Stay a while. Die slowly, with nothing you can do about it. <3 3- Protean: Similar to Trace. I like that there are outplays to be made here, but with high risk for failed predictions. 2- Magic Bounce: Much like the ladder. When someone stays ahead of the game they can get by without hazard control if they have this, which I find really neat. If you mess up, it's on your prediction. 1- Prankster: I adore prankster because, even if just through gimmick, it seems like everything that gets it finds some unique way to use it. Prankster Encore? Check. Swagplay? Check. Priority Perishtrap? Check. +3 Spa Baton Pass, repeat Hazard Phasing, turning mediocre Pokemon into a lovely status wall, check, check, check. It's just wonderful. I love it.
Lord Chespin
Top Ten Favorite Abilities: 10) Fur Coat - It's like Huge Power for your defenses! 9) Mega Launcher - This is a really creative ability, and it helps make water pulse a more viable move. Wish it applied to more moves, though... 8) Thick Fat - Great for stopping those powerful ice and fire types! 7) Desolate Land - FINALLY, GROUDON CAN STAND A FIGHTING CHANCE AGAINST KYOGRE! 6) Pixilate - Have I mentioned how much I love fairy types? 5) Adaptability - The ability that redeemed Beedrill. 4) Trace - YOUR SOUL ABILITY IS MINE! 3) Prankster - It's creative, and really powerful! 2) Protean - Great for coverage, great for messing with foes, great for STAB... what more could you ask for? 1) HUGE POWER - This ability gives Mega Mawile THE HIGHEST ATTACK STAT IN THE GAME. How can you top that? Top Ten (Bottom Ten?) Least Favorite Abilities: 10) Normalize - Because coverage wasn't a thing you needed, right? 9) Illusion - THIS ABILITY HAS NO USE IN THE MAIN GAME. WHY? ;_; 8) Defeatist - WHY DOES THIS EXIST?! 7) Truant - See #7. 6) Slow Start - See #6. 5) Skill Link - DAMN YOU, MARIANETTE'S CINCCINO! GOD DAMN YOU TO HELL! 4) Aura Break - Well, this would be cool... IF IT WORKED ON MORE ABILITIES. 3) Arena Trap - One time, I got stuck in Rejuvenation for roughly ten minutes because of an incident with this ability. 2) Stall - See #5. 1) DELTA STREAM - Because Mega Rayquaza wasn't OP enough.
