Helia
What are your best experiences with Mono types? What is the type that works best for you, even if your favourite type could be a completely different one? Share your experiences here! Vote what your favorite type to use is with monotypes, and share your best team! If you like, include Movesets as well! Mine, is Bug, as some of you might have noticed. With this team I've managed to at least beat every type at least once. Pretty happy with them and haven't been able to make a better team of any type ever, even though Water/Ice is my favorite type. Team: Heracross (Milk) Heracronite Skill Link(Moxie) - Close Combat - Bullet Seed - Earthquake - Rock Blast Vivillon (Raja) Focus Sash Compound Eyes - Quiver Dance - Hurricane - HP Electric - Bug Buzz Yanmega (Adore) Life Orb Speed Boost - Giga Drain - HP Ice - Air Slash - Bug Buzz Shuckle (Alaska) Zoom Lens Contrary - Stone Edge - Stealth Rock - Sticky Web - Toxic Scolipede (Detox) Black Sludge Speed Boost - Poison Jab - Earthquake - Megahorn - Protect Volcarona (Willam) Focus Sash Flame Body - Quiver Dance - HP Ground - Fiery Dance - Bug Buzz Now come and share your best Monotypes! Also, share videos of them if you did them in Showdown for instance VS. Water http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-234885763 VS. Steel http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-234888343 Vs.Grass http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-234889824 VS. Normal, one of the types I hate most http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-234909008 And annoying Fairy http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-234918331 Slightly different team with Genesect and Galvantula instead of Vivillon and Shuckle, VS Dark: http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-235182556 Edited May 24, 2015 by Helia
Fumble
I love using Dark types in Reborn. Although I quit mine to play the beta of E15, I still am fond of it today. My team included Greninja, Cacturne, Skuntank, Drapion, Houndoom, Scrafty, and Malamar! They managed to get me all the way to Serra-Noel, but then I took a break. I should revisit it... BIGJRA
Of course my monotype experience was in Reborn and not competitive, but Steel was the most fun and challenging monotype for me. The balance of challenge wasn't too impossible but kept it fresh and I always had to plan ahead. The team is my TC if anyone's interested. Arkenciel Zeno
My best monotype experiences are ghost. Both competitivly and outside of competitive. After playing with ghosts for aroudn 3 years now i understand them better than most people and know exactly how to work with them, so any other monotype i make will allways be less enjoyable than ghost monos. (i dont mean they arent enjoyable, just less enjoyable). Also who else tried to do ghost monoruns? I never see much people doing them. Tomas Elliot
Your earlier status motivated me into making a Bug monotype and, I gotta say, it is the best mono team I have ever built... I am having so much fun with it! Including beating a mono rock that was built much better than the one from the aforementioned status

Bugs can come out very surprising and it's a shame they're so underrated! Also, I find it not okay that Mega Aggron is allowed in a Mono Rock team. Same as Mega Charizard X on a flying team. Tomas Elliot
Also, I find it not okay that Mega Aggron is allowed in a Mono Rock team. Same as Mega Charizard X on a flying team. I absolutely agree, but I am afraid the exception would be difficult to code... Or would it? Now that I think about it, they did ban items from specific teams before (Damp Rock from Water teams for example), so why wouldn't they ban Aggronite from Rock teams? SeizureSalad
Funny enough, my best experience has been with Normal types. When X and Y was the new thing, they had pages on FB that made their own "Gyms." Mine was the normal gym and I maybe had two people beat that team in a years time? Yes. DovahPuff is a proud member of that team. '-'
Rawr-Ma-Ama
Grass is my favorite monotype to use, because then I can be a grasshole like Fern. Afterall, it´s one of those type with the most weaknesses (or it is THE type with the most weaknesses? I dunno anymore...), but its Pokémon have some neat dual-types and status-moves, which makes playing a regular game very fun but also challenging. Though when I played Emerald with this (first time I ever did a mono), Winona and pretty much everyone with a Skarmony or Altaria was a pain to kill. I also grew to like some grass-types a bit more after all of this, especially Vileplume and that damned Cradily which is so awesome. I tried to play OU, but as expected I got smashed into tiny bits a bit too often because I kinda suck ^^ Competitive I gotta stick with Ghost, Steel or Psychic which are also pretty cool, but I still gotta improve my grass because this is the most fun. Helia
Ever since I made this topic my success rate with my Bug team has decreased greatly. Kind of odd. Like they know what I'm about to do. Then again they can be quite predictable.
Zane0144
Yeah, higher on the ladder you've either got to use some less predictable sets or be good at predicting your opponent. Most people would switch to skarmory in that steel matchup the second they saw the scolipede. But your team looks pretty decent I have what I've been using in my sig but I have several other bug teams too Edited May 27, 2015 by Zane0144
Masquerain
Sad to say I have yet to do a monotype run, but I will do so as soon as Ep15 arrives. Dark, Poison ... I'm really hyped for my upcoming poison monorun @_@ Many types sound like they'll be really fun
