Administrators Popular Post Amethyst Posted May 26, 2015 Administrators Popular Post Share Posted May 26, 2015 ...And more! ...Most of this is not about E15. Sit down. Don't want to bother reading the following text wall? That's fine. Here's a quick TL;DR of what we're going over: + Community Announcement board - Athletics board Ace Membership now requires 6 Months account age, 750 posts and less than 3 warning points. Member accounts now go from Members > Familiars > Veterans > Ace The Donation > $R rate is halved Item prices have been adjusted. SotD and PotD Showdown items have been added. E15's release will be separated into two parts: a "Community Release" for forum members, and a "Public Release" for everyone. Remember to be courteous and not post un-tagged spoilers in the community after the Community Release! If you want a more in depth explanation for some of the above stuff, read on! Community Announcements: Hi, hello, welcome to a new announcement forum that is in every way identical to the existing announcement forum except for in the fact that it isn't reflected on the front page. This'll help us keep the main site clear of in-community updates. While still important, those don't need to be seen by random visitors who will be more confused than anything by, for instance, exactly what Ace Membership is and why we're talking about it. An unrelated note: The Athletics forum has been benched for inactivity as promised at its conditional debut. Rip. Ace Membership and Member Groups That said, let's talk about Ace Membership. And when we do, keep in mind none of these changes are retroactive, so existing Aces don't need to sweat. Anyway, Ace is supposed to be something pretty private and select among older members of the community. But as the community grows, the pace of it has picked up more than anticipated, and our requirements have not quite kept rhythm with it. As such we've made some changes to the requirements in order to be eligible for Ace Membership: There is now a 6 Month account age minimum The number of posts needed is now 750 (from 500) Users with more than 3 warning points (down from 5) may not get Ace. Firstly, we've found that it's very possible for new users to farm posts up like crazy with the activity around here, so we felt we had to increase the post limit. Second, we acknowledged that this could contribute to post-spam, so as a buffer to that we added the mandatory time. Finally, since Ace Members are supposed to be exemplary to the community, we're coming down on how much we allow them to mess up, so to speak. In the process of making these changes, some groups are getting shuffled around. Effectively, it's the same as it was between "Members" and "Members*" previously, but we've got some proper names now: Members, the default as before Familiars are Members who have been here for at least 6 months. Veterans are Familiars who have reached 750 posts. At this point they can purchase Ace from the site shop. So it goes Members > Familiars > Veterans > Ace. We may also look into expanding permissions for Familiars and Veterans in the future, so having those statuses will be good to scale up as well! Reborn Economy/Site Shop Changes We're also making some changes to get our site economy back under control. Whether or not you realize it now, it is off the hook, and we feel it's important for $R to have value to it. There are a few problems right now, one of which is that there's just too damn much of it floating around. I take responsibility for this, partly because I have not been able to update the site shop consistently (someday...) and partly because of donations. Donations -are- super important and I appreciate everyone who supports the site so much. It's really the only way that we've been able to pay for hosting, etc over the years, and now that money will be continuing to pay for things like wallpaper art, and helping to fund Starlight Divide in the future. So, it's with some reluctance that I'm forced to back down on the rewards for it. While it should not be indicative of any less thankfulness on my part, we'll be halving the donation > $R bonus rate as of tomorrow. Let's be real, no one needs that much $R anyway. To account for the $R that is already floating around, we've adjusted some of the prices in the shop, particularly according to their usage (demand affects value??? it's almost like real economics!!...). We've also added two new items for users to get: The Song of the Day item allows users to set a song of their choice on the server The Pokemon of the Day item allows users to choose which Pokemon is guaranteed to appear in Random Battles that day. Previously both of these things were kind of done at the whim of auth, so I'm excited to open these options up to users. Keep in mind with these items that they will be placed in a queue, so there could be a backlog of a few days before we get to your song or Pokemon. Upcoming E15 Release Info All right, so maybe this is about E15 a little bit. It's not exactly a secret for users who have been here for past release, but sometimes the episode releases can be a little bit wonky. Wonky, as in... crashy. While we do everything we can in Beta, sometimes stuff slips through the cracks. Worse, sometimes changes to fix issues in Beta end up creating more issues themselves. This is why we have bizarre upload numbers like 14.1.1 and 14.6.2 as opposed to just... 14 or 14.5. We had to fix these problems after release. In order to run damage control on these inevitable issues, we're doing something new with the E15 release. Specifically, it will only be released to registered forum members at first. It will not appear on the main-site until we're sure that it is stable. I'm deeming these separate releases the Community Release, and the Public Release. My hope is that by keeping it contained to the community at first, we run less risk of outside users, who may not check the site so often, getting bugged versions and not hearing about their patches. So, as many know, the Episode is currently in Beta. I'm not giving you a specific date that that will be finished, but I will give you a "Soon." You'll know the episode has been released to the community when the forum banner changes. At that time, keep your eye on the Public Development subforum in the Reborn section. Please also remember that we will have the community, server and forum on Spoiler Lock for one month from the community release date! That's about it for today. Thanks, everyone, for your patience, both in waiting for the episode, and in reading all of that if you chose to do so!
Reignited'Light
Previous Aces who have not reached the new 750 post limit still keep their Ace Membership, right? Didn't read all of it and just skimmed, whoops.None of the new changes really affect me that much, so I wish you some fun with new ideas for the site, server, and more importantly, the Reborn game. Can't wait for Episode 16! Edited May 26, 2015 by Reignited'Light
BIGJRA
This won't really affect me for a while, but will the Price ($R) of Ace for Veterans be changed at all?
Administrators Amethyst Posted May 26, 2015 Author Administrators Share Posted May 26, 2015 The price is remaining the same for now.

Arkhi
I've got a few questions. Members, the default as before Familiars are Members who have been here for at least 6 months. Veterans are Familiars who have reached 750 posts. At this point they can purchase Ace from the site shop. So it goes Members > Familiars > Veterans > Ace. This wasn't explicitly stated- in order to become a Veteran, does the user need to fulfill the prerequisites of being a Familiar as well (having attained a 6-month account age)? It would be rather easy to farm/spam posts to become a Veteran in order to skip the Familiar membership stage. The Pokemon of the Day item allows users to choose which Pokemon is guaranteed to appear in Random Battles that day. Will Reborn's Theme Tournaments exclude this luxury if it comes to the point this may occur? Ex. If a Theme Tour is a monotype with random Pokemon of that type, for example, is the user allowed to use their guaranteed Pokemon in said Theme Tour? - Atheltics how to be atheltic???
Simon
I would say yes to that Ark considering the chain has it looking as if you need to be a Familiar at least to become a Veteran and the same for becoming an Ace with you needing to be a Veteran. Also, will there be a set period of time that in which you have to be in a group before you can join the higher ranking groups or can you just jump from Familiar to Veteran to Ace anytime you want tot? Other than that, I do like the Ace Membership changes. RIP Athletics for now. And looking forward to the Site Shop updates soon enough. Support Squad Felicity Posted May 27, 2015 Support Squad Share Posted May 27, 2015 If the Athletics section got the Ax, does that mean the CW section is in danger? It isn't updated regularly but that's the nature of writing in such a casual environment and there are plenty of stories started in there, incorporating it into the RP section as once was the case would now make an insane amount of clutter. Lord Bagel
I'm glad I got ace literally yesterday XD, those 500 posts took long enough.

The CW section is not in any immediate danger - the Athletics forums specifically was added with a requirement that it maintain a certain level of activity to stay and that wasn't met. So it goes. Vinny
Just a personal thing, but the values of the "SotD" and the "PotD" should be changed (As in, the "PotD" should be 750, and the "SotD" 350). I mean, the SotD is a link that's going ot be in the intro, but people can choose whether to click or not. The "PotD" will be used in every single random battle, whether people like it or not and random battles are quite frequent in the server Just my two cents. even though i'm pretty sure Ark would argue that music > pokémon Not much else to say here. Did not see the group changes. It's what caught me by surprise the most. I'll give it a 7/10 Edited May 27, 2015 by Vinny

Fumble
Thank goodness I already got Ace, or I'd have to wait another 3-4 months or so. Anyways, RIP Athletics (although I never posted there...)

I'll give it a 7/10 It's based off of supply and demand, everyone was always eager for SotD, while we never technically had Pokemon of the day requests. This is all subject to change based on the popularity of both of these new items. We'll likely re-evaluate in a month or two.
AuthorReborn
So I guess the Community Release would be like a "Gamma Test" then, keeping in the theme of Greek letters? I like it, especially since the people who are on this forum tend to be far more interested in Reborn than any who don't join the forum. Busti
I don't even know what the "Athletics" part of this forum was about. Good choice getting rid of it. I prefer playing a version of the episode that has finished the development. Is there a certain time-frame you plan to keep the soft release in the forum before announcing the public release? Shing
I like this one here very much. Feels a lot of fixed up on this one. I was thinking also about people should get their ace after 6 months so people can know the person atleast instead of some weeks and such, it seems my wish become true.
