SuperHemisphere
Well, if you think it is, it is. In the topic of unique normal types, you can also find: -Snorlax -Kecleon -Zangoose -Blissey -Ditto -Kangashkan -Porygon -Eevee -Smeargle -Slaking -Castform -Regigigas -Arceus Note how "unique" is not the same as "powerful"; therefore, your bidoof can be unique, despite it being powerful or not (and even then, there's the "weak pokemon, strong pokemon, that is only the selfish perception of people" thing). Back on topic tho, I agree with Cresselia being psychic/fairy. If she was psychic/fairy and Darkrai was dark/ghost, Cresselia's main weakness would be darkrai's ghost, while Darkrai's only weakness would be Cresselia's fairy, making them so much of a better duo. I think i wasn't clear enough. I meant that as a god, arceus was normally the second most common type (correct if normal isn't second most common) and i felt like It should need a plate for every type. And because it is THE GOD it should have a mysterious type. Back on topic: I agree with Darkrai having ghost as secondary type. because well.... IT'S DARKRAI to be fair Darkrai has somewhat unique sweeper abilities thanks to its spaw/speed and dark void but smogon is messed up anyways. Still Cresselia is clearly a Fairy! imo they should actually retype all (well not ALL but at least some) Normal/Flying Types (not saying I don't appreciate some of them having normal typing): - Braviary Flying/Fighting - Chatot Flying - Staraptor Flying/Dark or Flying/Fighting - Noctowl Flying/Psychic - Fearow Flying/Dark Swellow, Unfeazant and Pidgeot do somehow fit the Normal/Flying type, I guess. I agree with a lot of those but i think no dual type pokemon should be normal type. I mean Diggersby is a Normal/Ground type and Diglett is a pure Ground type not a Anormal/Ground type or something i mean what's the point. The only other type that could suit "god" would be psychic I guess, but if we get into it, there are PLENTY of psychic legendaries. But normal legendaries, how many are there? 3. Arceus being one of them, and Regigigas and Meloetta the other two. In that way, the only other type that could have made Arceus more unique or mysterious would be poison, since there are no poison legendaries, but a poison god is too weird of a concept (maybe Yveltal could be poison/flying or poison/dark, but that's besides the point). Making a type for god exclusively to have comes out as unnecessary IMO, as it would be as unnecessary any type that was given to a single pokémon or line (like if I suddenly created the sound type but only the exploud family was given that type). I insist to believe that the normal type can be as unique as any other type if done right, plus except ghost, there is no type immune to it and it is only resisted by rock and steel, so it gets an insane coverage, plus it has incredible versatility as a type: in this way, I believe they might have intended a normal type god to mean it is versatile, able to reach a lot of types with its powers. Anyways, watch it be a primal-Arceus in gen 7 and be normal/psychic XD Regarding the normal type in dual typing and combinations, there's more to it than you might think. Adds only one weakness (fighting) to any pokemon that either doesn't resist or is already weak to fighting, and it allows to receive STAB from moves like return, that pretty much any pokemon can learn. To a ghost or psychic type for example, being a dual normal/ghost or normal/psychic is HUGE, as they cancel one of their weaknesses (ghost) completely, while ghost/normal is immune to fighting and psychic/normal receives neutral damage from it. I'd go in-topic again, but I already gave all the retypings I'd do if I were gamefreak, so yeah XD Edited May 30, 2015 by zimvader42
NickCrash
Don't treat Normal as the "bland" type. In the pokemon universe it has its own special characteristics, powers, and weaknesses. It makes perfect sense for, let's say, a commonly seen lizard that has electric abilities to be Normal/Electric or a fluffy bunny that's trained in the ways of combat, but still retains its "earthly" characteristics, in terms that it resembles real wildlife, to be Normal/Fighting. Aparently most Normal pokemon do not have a second type and most that do, it's flying due to the wide array of birds that exist without special elemental traits. If those do not convince you, the metagame needs to be balanced, so Normal deserves much like any other type to have dual-typed pokemon. Logical flaws will exist as the opposites mix, but that does not limit the game from including such pokemon. Primary examples are Malamar (psychic/dark), Gliscor (ground/flying), and all the possible combinations of ice/fire, fairy/dark, water/fire, dragon/fairy etc. If those make sense, then Normal duality has no reason not to exist. edit: On topic - I would retype Chatot as pure Flying, because it makes sense for it to be more of the manifestation of a musical note, but I can still see it being Normal. Flying is quite an abstract concept that few ideas capture it completely, when trying to create a pure one. Being a cloud (fakemon that never makes the cut for some reason) is enough excuse for it to be pure flying. The same goes for beings that rely on the weather, like Castform, which I believe needs to be retyped as Flying.

I get your point but considering what you said there are a lot of pokemon that need to be retyped. Something actually about topic: Tyranitar:Rock/Fighting (I have smoe more but I'm saving them for later replys lol)
