duelmonkey
So I've played maybe... twenty or more hours into Reborn now and I have MANY impressions or "Oh crap"s that have been generated. I've seen something like this already earlier in the morning (morning for me at least) but I couldn't find it again, so here's mine. "Go Garchomp!" More like a chump... hehehe- 75!? "I'm Fern." Sounds like a loser's name... "I'm Fern... and that guy's dead. People die, oh well." Loser and a real ass... "I'm Fern (because Fern always has to announce his name before he can speak)... easy gym... easy gym... stupid gym leader and easy gym." This guy deserves a punch to the face. "One pokemon and it's an Abra? Sound be easy... HA! Thought I'd be surprised that it was PULSE and 75? Thank again, I've already beaten that Stee- dark pulse?" In all seriousness this Abra is giving me serious trouble...
Myst
Use the recharge time against it. Probably statuses also You can get a Vanilluxe with a focus sash then mirror coat. Anything with mirror coat. --- Fern is written and commented on beautifully. Only the gods above or any forces of the universe could have written anything so grand, I commend you. duelmonkey
Regarding that Abra... I seem to have misplaced my focus sash (I KNOW I had one and I'm certain I gave it to one of my main party but no one has it...) and status effects don't work on Pulse Abra for two reasons: none on my team are nearly quick enough to get off the first attack (otherwise I'd love to give him a toxic to the face) and he spams dark pulse. Out of four or five battles I've only seen it use hyper beam maybe three times... I was successful at getting off a curse on it though that only lasted one turn. ONE TURN! I've seen in other threads that I should bait the hyper beams so I'm currently doing the Topeg event to raise it... I may use that Toxicroak as well to help bait. I really need to find something that can put that Abra to sleep after I've baited that hyper beam... but then that defense!
Lamona
If I remember correctly, that Pulse Abra got Steel typing, so Toxic won't took effect.
Myst
Hm...maybe try to find something with the prankster ability.
Ousawa
Get more bulky pokemon....
Vinny
You could always get something with Mirror Coat and put the Focus Sash on it~ I did use the old "bait for a hyper beam and then BAM" strategy though :]
zareason
Never had trouble against single high level pokemon, all you need is some pokemon that can take hits and you'll slowly wear it down. You'll eventually beat it at your 5th or 6th poke, having moves like aqua jet helps.
Digger
focus sashes gets expended on use, you probably used it up instead of misplaced it
Lucky98
I remember I beat because it used hyper beam to kill one pokemon, and I would just hit it with a strong attack on the recharge turn.
duelmonkey
focus sashes gets expended on use, you probably used it up instead of misplaced it That is news to me, that would explain the focus sash disappearing.
Shimerin
All you need is a Magnemite with sturdy and thunder wave.
Kithros
All you need is a Magnemite with sturdy and thunder wave. Pretty much this - even an underleveled magnemite has a ton of utility in this game, a magnemite with thunder wave and flash (as long as it's at least high enough of a level to outspeed a paralyzed pokemon) can almost always paralyze and -1 accuracy a pokemon, and can often do much more than that with hax - that's enough to easily deal with the single overleveled pokemon in the game and it even has applications in gym fights for helping a setup sweeper set up. duelmonkey
I ended up taking a slightly different approach than what everyone else was suggesting, though the comments are greatly appreciated for getting through this... trial. I, first, captured a Belsprout and Oddish for their "sleep powder" moves. I knew that if I could just get a few hexes in from my Dusclops then I would be good, thus the strategy was to bait a hyper beam using my Skuntank, send in one of the grass types to get a sleep powder during the recharge time, and then switch out for some hexes. My Dusclops wasn't able to knock out the Abra but luckily my Meowstic had the sucker punch ready for the final blow. Great success!

What really matters is how realiable the strategy is. Great success though \o/
