Welcome everyone to Reborn's newest competitive battling competition! RCBA, or Reborn Competitive Battling Association will function a bit differently than previous competitive events that have been hosted here at Reborn. Instead of boring you with a long text wall, I'll throw this list of notable features first and then I'll summarize it from there.

  1. This is an individual event, no teams.
  2. This is all Smogon OU
  3. The Regular season will last 12 weeks (10 games and 2 byes)
  4. 16 person post season tournament
  5. Tournament participants selected by 5 person committee
  6. 4 Divisions, each division winner guaranteed one of top 4 spots in the bracket
  7. There will be a consolation bracket for those who don't qualify.

Further details regarding the above info:

1. Unlike many of the other events you've seen here so far at Reborn like Nations, PRCL, and PZA, the Reborn Competitive Battling Association will focus solely on individual play. This is a true test of each and everyone's sheer ability to just battle.

2. RCBA will only be performed in one format, the ever so popular Overused tier of Smogon. Being by far the most popular, and debatably the most competitive of all the tiers, it can be said that battling exclusively at OU allows us to test you all in the highest level of battling. This is like the big leagues. All of the best of the best (From Reborn) will be here giving it their all in the tier likely the most familiar to them.

3. The season will begin on the week of June 28th and last for 12 weeks long, ending September 19th. Consisting of 10 matches to play (1 per week), During this time you will be given two bye weeks, and assuming you DO anticipate missing some time, please state as much in the sign-up thread so that we can plan the schedule most accordingly.

4. The main post season event will have a 16 player bracket. Each round of the RCBA Tournament will last one week and the participants will play Best-of-3's as opposed to the regular season where you will play single matches.

5. The tournament participants will be selected by the 5 person committee at the conclusion of the regular season. We will pick who we find to be the most suitable candidates based off the resumes put forward in the regular season. More details on how we are likely to select to come.

6. Players will be divided into four separate divisions. Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, and Amethyst (This is Reborn did you expect anything else?). When forming these divisions we will take into account as much as we can to ensure that we come to as few conflicts as possible when aligning players, as well as trying to properly balance them skill-wise.

7. For those who wish continue their season, but do not qualify for the 16-person tournament, a consolation tournament, the RIT (Reborn Invitational Tournament), will be extended to all participants, and depending on the turn out, will be either single elimination or double elimination.

So, if I'm reading this correctly, it's a regular season of battles followed by a finals tournament with 4 people per division? Only the people in the post tournament are selected by the committee, so anyone can join the regular season? And I assume that's not a tournament, just a W/L record sort of deal that is the basis for determining the post tournament bracket?
Sorry for the questions, I'm bad at comprehending sometimes.

No, only the division winners are guaranteed one of the top 4 seeds. The final 12 spots are essentially all wild cards and will be up for grabs by anyone and everyone. Yes anyone and everyone is welcome to join the regular season, however sign ups will need to be made before the deadline. W/L will be the biggest factor the committee takes into account, but other factors will be considered. The committee will watch and look over each and every battle.

So each division is its own tournament? As in if someone loses week 1 they don't get to play the others? Except for the consolation tourny, that is.

No, each division is NOT it's own tournament. You'll be playing 7 divisional games during the regular season as well as 3 non divisional games. But only division winners are guaranteed spots. Everyone else, it depends on how you perform, and the committee determines who they think did the best when it's all said and done. We will start posting power rankings for the top 20 week 3 or 4.
