RasenShot
Lol I started with "Fire Emblem" on GBA. Hoir just looks more interesting compared to Hoshido imo. I will be playing both~ I think the pic is about asking why the children characters from FE: Awakening (you know, Owain, Severa, etc.) are being revealed as Norh version(? characters only, rather than implying that everyone that started playing FE with Awakening is a 'kid' and is choosing Norh. Or am I reading too much into your reply? I don't even know... Would I rather pet my Pokemon, or my waifu... Decisions, decisions. Waifus always get top priority tho :]
ShadowStar
Oh I thought that the meme-post meant: The people who started with Fire Emblem: Awakening are all picking Noir. I understand your point as well with the who Children-lookalike thing going on right now.
krim
So Im hoping for a limited edition new 3ds when this comes out. Japan didn't get the Awakening one so..... (I also just need a valid reason to pick up a new one besides amiibo support XD)I do plan on getting the special edition either way and playing Nohr first though (Since the trailers have shown it to be the more complex one plot-wise, and because I prefer Nohrs character designs.) Oh and for those few of you who have played Thracia 776, whose hyped for capturing's return? I doubt it will work in the same way, because I dont think this game will offset free items with agonizing difficulty like Thracia did, but it's still really cool to see it come back. RasenShot
Speaking of Amiibos, any of you think that the amiibo version of a character (Marth, Lucina, Robin, Ike) has something special or different about them as units? Because I remember reading something about that there will be standard einherjar units (SpotPass) like Awakening had. If they are essentially the same, it will be quite redundant, like those 3 Marths who, you know, were basically the same...
Sheep
And the "Noire look alike" doesn't even resemble her in anyway besides her "attitude problem", but Odin sure looks like Owain. It's not so surprising though, Severa and Owain were 2 of the most liked in that popularity poll they had in Japan. Personally I think this is more of an original character than a Noire look alike. The personality is part there, but she doesn't look like the type to be timid outside of her rages.
Avatar of Grima
Noire and attitude problem are not compatible in the same sentence. Severa had an attitude problem. Noire had two personalities. I also saw a screen shot of a unit that looked pretty close to Chrom

krim
There was a dlc one, and two regular einherjar ones. They were pretty much the same.
Administrators Amethyst Posted June 12, 2015 Administrators Share Posted June 12, 2015 *screaming in the background* Reminder that Weapon Usage is gone. So infinite everything. *screaming in the foreground* actually i have mixed feelings about that but my ocd side will be glad to feel comfortable using something besides iron/bronze weapons for once but actually im way too hyped for this, fuck 2016
Godot
I am not sure what to think about that either... but first thing first... gotta reclass Kamui to something cool. Like that new Samurai class... or make him an axe wielder like how I did to Robin.

RasenShot
Just remember that reclassing is going to be different in If. You can reclass characters, yes, but if I remember correctly, you can only reclass your units a limitied amount of times with that new Parallel Seal, that seems to be the Second Seal replacement. If Dark Fliers come back with Gale Force I know what I'm doing first. Gale Force is op I'm not too sure if Gale Force is making a return, they are balancing abilities by the looks of it and, as you said, Gale Force is too OP, specially with already reclassed units. actually i have mixed feelings about that but my ocd side will be glad to feel comfortable using something besides iron/bronze weapons for once Like abilities, weapons are getting re-balanced. While there's infinite weapon usage now like in Gaiden, there will be certain advantages when using Iron over Steel or vice versa. but actually im way too hyped for this, fuck 2016 This is me right now too, if you haven't guessed. Commander
Like abilities, weapons are getting re-balanced. While there's infinite weapon usage now like in Gaiden, there will be certain advantages when using Iron over Steel or vice versa. It's probably going to be a bigger gap in accuracy vs power (which is often why I carry a Steel Sword...even at the end game). Speed also could play a factor as they could add weight back in (Speed is more important than Strength tbh). I haven't said much, but I'm excited for this too. And considering I buy two of every Pokemon game...even though they're the same, definitely not buying both versions of this... But seriously the two versions give me the impressions of Oracles of Seasons and Ages which both shared very little similarities. We'll have to wait and see if having both is worth the money (and yes, I'll be buying both).
Godot
I always liked investing in skill and Luck, Dem crits and dodges.
RasenShot
It's probably going to be a bigger gap in accuracy vs power Actually, it's a little bit more complex than that. I'll copy-paste some changes to the swords. But I don't know if axes & lances are going to be like this too... -Bronze Sword: Cannot critical, but boosts Critical Evade by 10 -Iron Sword: Nothing special -Steel Sword: Avoid -5, double attack threshold -3 -Silver Sword: Critical Evade -5; after using, Strength and Skill -2 until next turn -Brave Sword: Allows 2 consecutive attacks, Defence and Resistance -4 Speed also could play a factor as they could add weight back in. It's already comfirmed that weight is not in the game though. But there's the new features that I mentioned above and the weapon triangle revamp. I always liked investing in skill and Luck, Dem crits and dodges. And some characters have new, unique skills. It's going to be fun and interesting using different units to try their skills, like Odin's "Blood Boil". That transformation tho Actually we can And it looks like my obsession with Steel Swords is going to come in handy. It also looks like carrying a variety of weapons is going to be key strategy in this game. If you spam a brave sword and an enemy is nearby, you're pretty much a goner. I wonder how they're going to fix Clerics because with infinite weapons, they can be broken as hell (combined with a dancer).

I'm not sure but I think I heard / read somewhere that Staves actually CAN break to prevent abuse (easy XP-grinding with 1 HP-heals etc) So only attacking Items break. also I've watched the Nintendo-Treehouse at E3 (live-stream not in person) and there they showed the first proloque map. And I think I recall seeing a "20" next to the Healing Stave of the Maid-Unit Edit: I just searched for it on Youtube and I am correct! The healing staff only has 20 uses: I don't know how to embed the Video here... it won't work with the Embed link on youtube... so here the link to the Treehouse for Fire Emblem Fates and if you skip to around 7:15 you can see it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NybBZaVRtAU Edited June 17, 2015 by Cepheus

So only swords axes lances tomes and bows don't break. Good no more having to go broke trying to get more weapons when mine break from training units :|
RasenShot
With all the trailers that popped up yesterday, I'm afraid of spoiling myself... And since it's confirmed that Fire Emblem If... I mean, Fire Emblem Fates (I still have to get used to it), is going to be released as two separate versions (officially named Birthright & Conquest), it's kind of immersion-breaking that you have to make the choice in stores rather than in-game. Still, hoping for that special edition that had both versions together to come out in America.I'm still wondering the differences plot-wise between each version though, I don't quite get it... Guzam
Why did Nintendo have to make it two separate versions :[ I know that if we buy one version, we get the other for a reduced price in DLC, but my small amount of money can only do so much :[

I'm still wondering the differences plot-wise between each version though, I don't quite get it... well... from what I think I overheard at the Treehouse event (linked above) it seems it is more like the Pokemon games. The Story is essentially the same, and that you make the decision on which path to follow ingame in the last prologue chapter... HOWEVER, your version (Black/Conquest or White/Birthright) decide which MAPS you will play and which Characters may join. So let's say you have the Conquest Version and a friend has the Birthright version and both of you choose to go with the Hoshido-path. The Story is the same but let's say for Chapter 5 you have a different map and two different characters than your friend. But that's what I THINK I overheard in the Treehouse event... it was kinda noisy there and a bit unclear...
Sheep
Factional class reels for those of you who haven't seen them yet:
Maelstrom
I don't think the stories would be essentially the same at all. Birthright is clearly sounds like restoring the Hoshido back to its own independence. Conquest sounds like the choices you are given is how to integrate the hoshido- harder or softer. The difference is who you start with under your command, and who you could possibly recruit from the other side, who might see reason in your chosen path. I really do wonder if you have the choice to be evil/emperor supreme and just take everything by force... but they also did hint somewhere about possibly changing the way the Nohr do things from within. The main character has lived in both worlds and even after taking a side, that fact stays with him. I'm really looking forward to this game. ----- I'm just glad I had the first dlc pack in FE:A cuz newly reclassed characters who needed to use E-rating weapons were a pain to use and skill up if I didn't spend the money to upgrade the power and stuff on those items. bbl; gonna watch that treehouse vid now.
