Oh no. Mega Mawile will be the end of all of us (Prays that Ame doesn't give Adrienn a mega mawile).

This field could be a major issue for us all. Spamming sludge wave won't even work if xe has a klefki/ mega mawile.

I'm pretty sure Mega Mawile is guaranteed... There aren't many mega fairies out there. MegaTaria has already been used, Gardevoir is Radomus' ace, and Diancie seems unlikely since it's a mythical Pokemon. As for spamming sludge wave... The entire point of reborn leaders is to counter their type's weaknesses. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best. I feel like we're feeding Ame ideas on how to ruin us >_<.

Okay, my speculation for the upcoming episode!

Lin spearheads a full-scale assault on the Reborn League headquarters. The player fights - possibly alongside Amethyst, although not necessarily in a multi battle - to repel Meteor's forces, but they're steadily being overtaken. In a dire moment, Ame declares that "We WILL protect our city!" and gives the player the Mega Ring.

My rationale is that if Ame were to give us the Mega Ring before the postgame, it would have to be through a very, very significant event. It needs to be important. It needs to be impactful. Mega Evolution is a big deal; one that can only be rivaled by a battle to decide the fate of Reborn City.

Some potential counterpoints:

1. "But Ame has stated that her character isn't going to be plot-relevant!!1"

The ambiguity of this statement means that it can be interpreted in a number of ways. Does that mean her character won't make any important, plot-altering actions or decisions? Does it mean that she simply won't get any significant screen time at all? In my proposed scenario, Ame isn't given any special relevance - it's being imposed upon her. Her office building is being attacked, and she's defending it. She's doing her job.

So what other alternatives are there? Sculpt the storyline in such a way that Ame's character is never put into a position of action? Relegate her to the sidelines entirely, even though she serves an important function in the workings of Reborn City? Sounds like a great way to screw up a good story.

2. "But we won't get the Mega Ring until postgame!!1"

Admittedly, this is a big potential strike. The only reason we wouldn't get Mega Evolution until after completing the game is because the game follows the actual Reborn League, where challengers were not permitted to use Mega Evolutions. I don't know if Ame has straight-up stated that the Mega Ring won't be obtainable until the postgame, but if someone can link me to a quote, then that would be much appreciated.

As it currently stands, though, Mega Evolution wouldn't make much of an impact from a gameplay perspective. Right now, the players only have access to, what, four or five Mega Stones? Only a couple of those are actually good enough to incentivize players to jump through the necessary hoops to play them, and even then, they aren't overly powerful for a playthrough.

Anyway, that's my crackpot hypothesis! Let's see some more theorycrafting, everyone!

It's actually his sister, Elizabeth Connal iirc. She died of some disease or something and the only thing that they DIDN'T try to use to save her was Electric-shock therapy, so he devoted his life to researching it. He went kinda crazy as a result.

It wasn't a disease. She suffered from a mental illness and committed suicide.

she already broke idea number 1 once she made herself the gym gal. I believe that give us hope she is gonna break another one of her sayings

I think we all agree that the best stones will become available after the E4 and without those the ring is practically useless so what is the point of getting it now?

Adrienn's gonna be difficult. I don't know how my strategy (focus Bullet Punch on a threat right at the start) is gonna do anything to xym. Though if the Mist is still there, xyr's Klefki may prove to be extremely useless. ^_^

Anyway, i'm waiting to see what Ame can do to make xym powerful. I have 5 Steel type pokes in my box waiting to kill stuff B)

I expect Adrienn to have another Field underneath the Misty Terrain, since it only stays for 3 turns from Mist now. What it will do, who knows?

True. But if the Misty Terrain is like the background of the fight (like every single other gym), it'll stay there until either we end the battle or we change it.

It's entirely possible Adrienn will have Misty Terrain going from the start, so it won't stop unless you change it, which is going to be very difficult now.

I really hope that's not the case though. My poor Arcanine and Magnezone will have their work cut out for them.

Look's like I'll have to get that beldum after all. I'm not looking forward to that.

Do you think Adrienn's gym will have a puzzle theme on purity and pollution/corruption? I can see xyr having that as xe's theme due to the state the city got into during the 10 year absence. Maybe having the 2 mist fields throughout the gym but xe having a special field effect that can change into the mist one at any point. I can see Mega Mawile being implemented onto xyr's team as well as Gardevoir and Florges. There could also be a Whimsicott there as well as Azumarill and Klefki. I don't know if xyr's team would be in singles or doubles though (wishing there would be a double battle leader soon as we haven't had one for a while but Hardy will probably be our next doubles leader).

I could see there being a meteor assault on a few of the buildings within the city, especially the Grand Hall and some places within Obsidia. I think that there's a chance of Victoria returning properly in episode 16 and perhaps more action involving Shade or saving Aya. I think considering meteor will be returning too, I think that Lin, ZEL and maybe Taka will be involved since we haven't seen ZEL and Lin since Tanzan plus Taka wasn't too far from the city so could easily gain access considering Meteor was in the WTC. I think that there's also a chance of El making a quick appearance too considering some of his fellow cultists were in the WTC.

I don't think Tania will return until episode 17/18 as we still require the key for the desert and the only way I see getting into the desert is receiving permission either from Hardy or Tania herself considering how dangerous the desert apparently is. That's all my speculation for now.

A battle against Adrienn is looking more and more likely. I'm going to have to keep my arcanine healthy to deal with a potential mawile, that thing could be real trouble with it's special defense boosted.

What I think will happen in e16: we return to the city and help Adrienn do some side quests involving the citizens. After that XE agrees to battle us for the badge but we get interrupted by team meteor who brings Lin. We will also fight the pulse responsible for the earthquakes which may have been hidden by Devon corp in obsidian. After that we try to stop teak meteor which fails since Lin overpowers us and probably strikes the "heart" of reborn which I'm not sure as of yet. Could be grand hall or the vitae di astrae. The defeat at the hands of Lin prompts us to quickly collect all the remaining badges in order to even stand a chance and so adrienn will agree to battle. I think XE will be a doubles leader. After the battle I think we will get the key to tourmaline desert allowing us to challenge titania in the later episode.

Just my crackpot theory.

The heart of reborn could also be adrienn since xe has been rebuilding it in our absence.

It's entirely possible Adrienn will have Misty Terrain going from the start, so it won't stop unless you change it, which is going to be very difficult now.

I don't think many fairies are physically bulky, so maybe physical arcanine can be a thing. Magnezone is screwed on every level...

Because as it was said, only a few lower-tier megas will be available. Am I gonna let y'all run through the E4 with ya Megagross and M-Blazikens? nahh. But I'm not opposed to opening megas up to make Pokemon like Banette and Audino more attractive options in-game.

It wouldn't be as bad for me if misty terrain didn't prevent electric terrain from working :/

Actually! Terrain moves can't be used on top of other terrain moves and temporary fields (eg Rainbow), but if we assume it works the same was as Corey's Mist, even though it's Misty Terrain, it's not a temporary effect. So Electric Terrain could still be used over it. If you wanted to test that theory, just try using Electric Terrain in the Coral Ward. It should work.

If not, let me know, because that's a problem..

So since I replaced all the sound files that also means the calls to previously existing move sound effects by story events, are now invalid. Unfortunately my memory sucks, and I've only found a few, so I'll ask you all:

What instances of move-sound effects do you recall being used in the story or sidequests? Examples of this include Sigmund being Hyper Beamed, and the Poison Fang attack sounds following that-- basically whenever a Pokemon uses a move on the overworld.

I've already fixed:

  • The above two mentioned + Sigmund vs Laura sounds
  • Poison Fang/Walrein/Excadrill stuff at Fiore
  • Deliverance's Waterfall/Ice Beam in Peridot, Ice Beam/Superpower inside the Factory
  • Caged Pokemon Puzzle
  • Pyrous Mountaintop Blast Burn/Dragon Rush/Hi Jump Kick
  • Attacks to free Heather
  • G-Gardevoir's Hypnosis

Can anyone think of what I'm forgetting? I'm sure there's plenty more.

Umm. Okay I don't know if this is one, but with all the explosions that Julia creates....

Also did Lin's Hydregon use a move sound effect in Tanzan? I'm trying to go through the game in my head, but it's been a little while. If need be I can go back and try and replay it.
