Global Mods Ice Cream Sand Witch Posted May 14, 2016 Global Mods Share Posted May 14, 2016 So this moreso deals with whenever we go to Agate City than it does E16, but I JUST REALIZED SOMETHING and not sure where else to post. Sleeping spell. Some people have suggested spores. Breloom can learn Spore. WHAT IF THE PULSE IN AGATE IS CLARICE/BRELOOMBOT?
Alaris
Yeah, I believe someone said this in an earlier topic on this matter...
Masquerain
It can also be sound-based i.e. sing /grasswhistle It can be hypnosis or something of the like. But yeah, it can be spore as well. Fact is that people don't insta-fall asleep so it must be a gradual thing
Lilleen
Whatever this sleep spell is, it didn't affect Terra at all ... which makes me wonder if it is perhaps sing because it can be repelled with the ability soundproof. She could have weared some earplug. After all, she was "yelling" a lot when she appeared, which makes sense if she was wearing earplugs.
Ironbound
In the words if someone at the circus, Terra's mere presence is a detriment to sleep. I have two theories: if she is responsible for the PULSE Hypno or whatever that is causing the agate sleep spell (she being a Meteor after all), she could have a device to shield herself from the effects. OR, she's just so batshit Hyper that hypnosis/sleep doesn't affect her.
Bazaro
There were grunts in Agate City as well that were unaffected by the spell. Whatever it is, Meteor has some kind of gear to counter its effects. Terra likely has this herself, or could just stay awake because Terra. Again, no sound in the city at all, so I doubt Sing is the cause. Hypnosis is probable but unlikely as anti-psychic helmets don't just grow on trees... Buuuuuut Rage Power and Sleep Powder DO grow on trees nearby, so Spore or Sleep Powder are very likely, as the city is entirely isolated by a ring of mountains. Wouldn't we then like a huge layer of spores after a while, like we see with dust? Also what with the guards at the gate? Personally I think it is hypnosis but targetted instead of widescale. That's why it takes so long, since you need to pinpoint the source.
Lord Drakyle
What if it's a pokemon that specialises with Yawn or represents it? Yawn is a delayed sleep effect so it might be able to explain it
FairFamily
What if it's a pokemon that specialises with Yawn or represents it? Yawn is a delayed sleep effect so it might be able to explain it Yawn could be, the delay might explain why the guards are asleep. The pokemon representing it would be slaking in my opinion. The problem is that PULSE slaking needs to get rid of truant , some extra stats, a new ability and possibly a type change)which might make it horrible OP to the point where you have little choice but to 'cheese' it. Jmanultrax1
To me a pulse machine brings about the ultimate power of a certain mons ability (ex when we had the Abra it's natural ability is teleport so when it connected to a pulse machine it teleported everything) so the pulse putting the people to sleep has a Pokemon who can natural put people to sleep. I'm 50/50 that's it's darkrai, but I'm very positive that it's probably a jigglypuff
Imperial
There are no legendaries involved in Reborn exept Arceus. And honestly, if meteors had Darkrai, even more a pulse-boosted Darkrai, would they use it just to put some people to sleep ? Lin would rather use it to turn the entire region to madness with nightmares...
Lilleen
I think it's either a Pokémon with sing or hypnosis. Yeah, the spore thing could work as well, but as someone stated: wouldn't the city be covered in dust? It is most likely just hypnosis, but I have a hard time coming up with a way to explain how the grunt in Agate and Terra didn't fall asleep. The only thing I can think of that can repel hypnosis is insomnia. At least with sing, they could repel it with earplugs. The song could be faint, so one barely hears it because it is carried around by the wind, but it is just loud enough to have you fall asleep. Imperial
Many people including myself suffer from pollen allergy, yet you don't see layers of pollen on the ground in summer. Spores are really small, so if they are really powerful they can just stay invisible in the air and make everybody fall asleep. But I don't remember seeing grunts in Agate. When was it ? Lilleen
You go pass them. You can barely see them standing on a bridge on the far right when you first enter Agate.
sound of silence
I suppose the other thing to consider with PULSE pokemon is they are normally something seen as garbage in the competitive battling scene. The best competitive pokemon that's been given a PULSE form so far in the game is tangrowth. So I'm inclined to think whatever the cause is has to be something that would otherwise be poor competitively. I like the powder idea more as that seems to be the easiest way to make others fall asleep without suspicion of noise (yawns and singing) or some kind of anti-hypnotic device while the meteors can wear some cool gas-mask gear over a body suit. That still doesn't explain Terra's immunity though...As for the pokemon itself, I'm just going to take an absolute wild guess and go with Jumpluff, which ame will ever so nicely give huge power to and a lot more bulk to its PULSE form. It pretty much is a giant floating piece of pollen so I like the idea of it slowly disintegrating in the machine as its sleepy spore remains scatter over agate, similar to how PULSE muk dissolved into azurine lake. Ironbound
I'd not write off the pulse mons are garbage; they're chosen for their aptness to the situation (it'd make less sense for a PULSE Gengar to have poisoned the lake,or for a PULSE Breloom to have caused the vines) and so it's probably just coincidence that many featured outside OU or UU. I'd be down for a PULSE Hypno, though, simply because there's been too many Grass or Poison type PULSEs already for Amoonguss or something like that. Terra could be immune to the Hypnosis by virtue of her being Terra, that's all. What we all really need is for a working PULSE Magnezone. It will then fuse Sirius, Solaris and Linux together and create the ultimate monster! The Magnet Lord giveth and the Magnet Lord taketh away. Foamy
Hypnotic suggestion and subaural frequencies can both be used to steadily put the Agate citizens to sleep without this so-called "suspicion of noise." You can play sounds at volumes that can be subconsciously detected and registered by the brain while remaining quiet enough that the recipient doesn't actually know that they're listening to something. I also find this kind of thing to be the most logical way of inducing unnoticed sleep And also, Hypno isn't known to be super good competitively I think, so it fits the role more or less? (Lets not mention the fact that every time hypnosis is involved, drowzee and hypno are THE go-to pokemon to fit the role since like abra being famous for teleporting, these 2 are (in)famous for hypnosis)
