Administrators Amethyst Posted June 22, 2015 Administrators Share Posted June 22, 2015 @ Tomas, you can blame me for that. When it was first called brought to my attention, I looked up the word and didn't find any indication that it was considered derogatory. In fact, I read that some people still preferred it over other synonyms (and this seems to have been the case for the individual in question, too). So, I allowed it. However, with how much it was questioned, that was rescinded. As such, it's been taken care of. @ Dobby, A swift kick defeats it. Common household scissors can defeat it. In fact, I even hear Mountain Dew defeats it. Seems pretty lame.

Tomas Elliot
@ Tomas, you can blame me for that. Honestly, I wasn't criticizing the staff here. As mentioned, a mod had already given me a very good explanation as to why the staff was not taking action. What I was criticizing is the fact that people (and by "people" I mean normal users, like the one who started this topic) weren't as quick to jump at that as they are to jump at anything having to do with the sexual sphere. If I had nicknamed myself "TheFaggotElliot", people would have lynched me long before mods could do anyhting about it, and rightfully so: I am kinda disappointed that similar sensibility wasn't displayed for a racial matter. In short: a single word like "friendzone" can spawn some massive arguments about sexism (I have seen it happen with my own two eyes a while back). A blatant racial slur used as nickname in a plethora of forum posts didn't spawn some massive arguments about racism. Why this double standard, Reborn community? Happy to hear it has been taken care of, tho.
