Help Redesign My Old Team

Recommended Posts

Back in Gen 5, I made a team for UU based off my ingame team and it served me well. Since then I've ported it over to Gen 6 and made some minor changes to movesets. But I feel it's finally due for some major change, so here it is:

accelgor.gif

Accelgor @ Focus Sash
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Bug Buzz
- Hidden Power (Dark)
- Focus Blast
- Final Gambit
My usual lead, I literally picked up this guy for the sheer novelty of Final Gambit, I love the reactions I would get when people get caught by it. Of my entire team, I feel it's time to say goodbye to Accelgor, but I'm not sure who to replace it with.
mienshao.gif
Mienshao @ Life Orb
Ability: Reckless
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Stone Edge
- U-turn
- Aerial Ace
The bae, I absolutely love Mienshao and don't see myself replacing it anytime soon. High jump Kick is so boosted by STAB, Life Orb, and Reckless that unless you resist fighting, High Jump Kick is almost a guaranteed OHKO. I should replace Aerial Ace with maybe something like Poison Jab, not too sure.
chandelure.gif
Chandelure @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Energy Ball
- Trick
Hard hitting and made fast thanks to Choice Scarf. I usually have Chandelure back-to-back with Escavalier thanks to Flash Fire. Does its job when it doesn't miss it's Fire Blast. Fire Blast and Shadow Ball for STAB, Energy Ball to get rid of those pesky Water/Ground mons, and Trick to stop set ups.
escavalier.gif
(Lead Chariot) Escavalier @ Choice Band
Ability: Swarm
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Megahorn
- Iron Head
- Knock Off
- Drill Run

Bulky And Hard Hitting but slow as a rock. This guy actually comes from an old Trick Room team I used to run, but when I stopped using the team I decided to keep this guy. This thing's bulk allows it to tank well, but a 4x weakness to fire is the reason I have Chandelure with Flash Fire so it can tag out and Chandelure gets a boosted Fire Blast. Megahorn and Iron Head for STAB, Knock Off for coverage, and Drill Run for predicting a switch in to Fire. Considering Assault Vest over Choice Band.

milotic.gif

Milotic @ Leftovers
Ability: Marvel Scale
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Recover
- Toxic
- Ice Beam
The Tank of the team, Milotic fulfills its role well, when burned becomes even bulkier thanks to Marvel Scale. Don't think I'll be swapping it out for another anytime soon. Scald for STAB and chance to burn, Recover and Toxic for stalling, and Ice Beam for coverage.
aerodactyl.gif
Aerodactyl @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 40 HP / 252 Atk / 216 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Iron Head
- Earthquake
- Aerial Ace
Sporting an incredible 150 Base Speed with a great 135 Atk this thing is a monster. Stone Edge and Aerial Ace for STAB, Iron Head and EQ for coverage. I've considered making Aerodactyl my lead, swapping its Mega for Focus Sash and adjusting its move set with Stealth Rocks and Taunt.
So there's my team. I've looked at a lot of other Pokemon but I'm turning to you guys to help me come to a decision. I look forward to hearing feedback.

A Life Orb Mienshao using U-turn is better off with Regenerator if you ask me. Fake Out over Aerial Ace to make up for the damage loss (the combination of Fake Out and HJK can kill anything Reckless-boosted HJK can kill), and Poison Jab over Stone Edge because there are many Fairy-type Pokemon this guy can outspeed and kill, which is more than I can ay for the Flying type (most of the Flying-type Pokemon commonly used nowadays are faster than Mienshao, so I doubt you will actually be using Stone Edge at all).

And AV Excavalier is a nice idea to switch into most Fairy-type Pokemon with impunity and fake the CB set, to catch the opponent's Steel type off guard with an unexpected Drill Run. So yeah, by all means do give it a try.

As for Accelgor, as Vlado said it is hard to suggest a replacement without knowing what you are having problems with (also because your team looks quite solid if you ask me). If you do decide to make Aero your lead with Sash and SR, you might want to consider a different Mega, like I dunno, Ampharos? With its bulk and godly type it would provide slow Volt-Switch to give Mienshao free opportunities to come in, thus creating a very good VVolt-Turn core... Also it laughs at the moves people usually use against Milo.

Oh my oh my. I spy a rather insane Electric weakness here. You've got two mons weak to it and nothing to even resist. As it stands, your team is in serious trouble if it meets a Mega Amphy, Jolteon, or Heliolisk, all of which are quite common. As Tomas said spelled it right this time, swap out Aero for Mega Amphy. That'll take away some of the Electric weakness and actually give you a nice x4 resist while still boasting a rather ludicrous Special Attack at base 165. My personal favorite set to run is

Ampharos @ Ampharosite
Ability: Static
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Agility
- Thunderbolt
- Dragon Pulse
- Focus Blast/ Volt Switch

as it allows you to boost up on a switch, then quickly slay half your opponent's team. You can run Volt Switch instead of Focus Miss Blast if you want to have a bit more reliability or if you just wanna get the heck out and dodge.

For Mienshao, I'd recommend something like

Mienshao @ Life Orb
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Poison Jab/ Fake Out
as this would allow you to have your solid STAB move in HJK, Knock Off because honestly, there is no reason not to have it since it deals with Ghosts and Psychics, both of which are a problem for HJK spammers. U-Turn to get you out of a tight spot fact and quickly grab a Regenerator boost while doing some solid damage and/or breaking Focus Sashes/Sturdies. Poison Jab is obviously for Fairies, particuarly Whimsicott, which would practically be murdered on the switch in by it. Fake Out just because Fake Out is good, I guess. Not really my personal choice on moves except on Pokemon like Mega Lopunny, where it is quite useful, but to each his/her/xyr own.
You don't have any Pokemon to set up and remove hazards, which is rather alarming when Fortress exists and it's present on about 97% of the teams in UU because people can't figure out any other lead to use, even with a Trick Chandelure. I would know because I really love Trick Chandelure. More to the point, I'd switch out your Bug for another personal choice of mine: Donphan. Donphan has the physical bulk to take a lot of hits well and Sturdy which lets it be a good lead. It would give your team a nice Electric immunity as well. Just use a physically defensive set with EQ for STAB, Stealth Rocks to wear down your foes, Rapid Spin to clear hazards which wear down Milotic and quickly kill your Chandelure.
I'd also suggest changing Milotic to be a bit more Specially Defensive to check CroCune a bit more, as that is always a threat. If you have Donphan, make Donphan your Physical wall and fully invest Milotic in Special Defensive. Scald is there for burning Physical Attackers anyway, so no need to be redundant with your spread.
Your team looks nice and interesting otherwise and definitely change that Choice Band out for an AV to catch your opponents unawares.
