"As I walk through the tall grass of the shadow of Route 1~"
Picked Charmander and nicknamed him Flamewing. Little guy's Timid, perfect if I may say so myself.
Not taking the Town Map since I know the whole of Kanto at the back of my hand even though I've been stuck in Pallet for 10 years.
Caught BigBird the Pidgey at Route 1.

3 Potions and 4 Pokeballs before heading into Viridian Forest, sweet.
Genocide of Bug Pokemon, think I can start a forest fire with all these Embers.
Level 5 Caterpie spotted! After exchanging Scratches and Tackles with a side of String Shots, Ame the Caterpie was caught! He's a male, oh well can't help it.
Battle with a Bug Catcher increases BigBird's level to 6, damn Bugs are weak.
Second battle with a Bug Catcher evolves Ame into a Metapod and he learns Harden! [s]Time to find a Metapod and engage in a stallwar[/s].
Nothing interesting other than leveling up.

Pokemon Team upon reaching Pewter City:

BigBird the Pidgey

Healed up at the Pokemon Center and onward to Pewter Gym!
Battle with a Camper who starts off with a Geodude, Flamewing got lucky with a burn after an Ember and surprisingly all Geodude did was use Defense Curl. Sandshrew's out next and gets burned immediately (dathax). Scratch only does 3 HP damage on Flamewing and Sandshrew's down after another Ember.
Flamewing learned Metal Claw! That's my ticket to beating Brock.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brock: So you're here, I'm Brock. I'm Pewter's Gym Leader.
Avian: Yeah I kinda figured that out from that guy standing at the door.
Brock: My rock-hard willpower is evident even in my Pokemon.
Avian: Because they're... Rock type?
Brock: My Pokemon are all rock hard, and have true-grit determination.
Avian: ...That's what she said << >>
Brock: That's right - my Pokemon are all the Rock type!
Avian: And that's what I said a few seconds ago ._.
Brock: Fuhaha! You're going to challenge me knowing that you'll lose?
Avian: Nope.avi
Brock: That's the Trainer's honor that compels you to challenge me.
Avian: I feel honoured.
Brock: Fine, then! Show me your best!
Avian: You asked for it!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brock starts off with a Geodude, who gets knocked down after 2 Metal Claws with one of them being a crit.
Out comes his trademark Onix, Rock Tomb almost taking out Flamewing.
Switch into [s]meatshield[/s] wall Ame and Onix misses his Rock Tomb. Healed Flamewing with a Potion as Ame takes a Tackle like a boss. String Shot by Ame and he takes another Tackle.
Onix crushes Ame with a Rock Tomb and Flamewing is back out.
Flamewing lands a Metal Claw on Onix and increases his Attack, Onix misses a Rock Tomb and it's "Good Night Onix!"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brock: I took you for granted, and so I lost.
Avian: Never underestimate me, bro.
Brock: As proof of your victory, I confer on you... the official Pokemon League Boulder Badge.
Avian: That's what I came for.
Avian received the Boulder Badge from Brock!
Brock: Just having the Boulder Badge makes your Pokemon more powerful.
Avian: Ooh, magic~
Brock: It also enables the use of the move Flash outside of battle. Of course, a Pokemon must know the move Flash to use it.
Avian: Thanks for the info.
Brock: Wait! Take this with you. TM39 contains Rock Tomb. It hurls boulders at the foe and lowers its speed.
Avian: Yeah I kinda found out about that from our battle just now.
Brock: There are all kinds of Trainers in this huge world of ours. You appear to be very gifted as a Pokemon Trainer.
Avian: Aww shucks <3
Brock: So let me make a suggestion. Go to the Gym in Cerulean and test your abilities.
Avian: So that's where the next Gym is, I'll be off now~

Mini update here, since I forgot about Route 22 and battling Gary.
So I ran back to Viridian with my new Running Shoes [s]with a little help from VBA's speed up function[/s].
Wild Pokemon Encounter in the tall grass, and what's this? A wild Spearow appeared and proving no match for my Pidgey, Owen was caught.
Battle with Gary, his Pidgey and Squirtle fell to Flamewing and BigBird respectively.
Sped up Running Shoes run back to Pewter, healed up and ready for Route 3.

Gonna update with my journey to Mt Moon later or tomorrow.
Question: Can Golbat evolve into Crobat in FRLG?

Damn it D:

Route 3 + Mt Moon training evolved Flamewing, BigBird and Ame. Caught Phoenix the Zubat inside Mt Moon.
These Zubats ain't got NOTHING on Ame and his Confusion.
Encounter with multiple Team Rocket Grunts and kicked their asses. Beat the Scientist at the end and picked a Dome Fossil [s]even though I can't use it[/s].

Healed up at Cerulean's Pokemon Center, gonna do the Nugget Bridge and meet up with Bill later on. Battle with Misty will probably come tomorrow unless I find time to beat her today.

Proceeded to the Nugget Bridge, and look who's here: Gary!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle starts with BigBird meeting a weaker Pidgeotto. Dude, Pidgey doesn't evolve at level 17 you hacker :c
Both birds exchange Gusts but since mine is stronger, Pidgeotto goes down.
Flamewing takes down Rattata after two Embers and taking a Quick Attack.
Out comes Squirtle and it's Ame's turn to shine.
Sleep Powder followed by a Confusion, but Squirtle wakes up the next turn and Withdraws. Repeat the last turn except that Squirtle uses Tail Whip. Squirtle finally stays asleep and gets knocked out by multiple Confusions.
Abra's next and he's practically useless, giving Phoenix a free win.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gary walks away, only to return to give me a Fame Checker. Thanks, I suppose?
Nugget Bridge was a breeze, Rocket Grunt tries to hire me but no thanks. (We need a Pokemon game that makes us start as a Rocket Grunt and slowly get promoted to Admin, with taking over Giovanni as the boss and battling [insert good guy here] for the final battle)
Beat a bunch of Trainers, met Bill at his place. How he screwed up a Teleportation to fuse him and a Clefairy, I have no idea. Got an SS Ticket, healed back in Cerulean and it's time to face Misty!

Male Swimmer is up first and starts off with Horsea who does nothing but Leers, Owen takes him down. Shellder's next and confuses Owen, Owen hurts himself and a Tackle takes him out. Phoenix is out and gives Shellder a taste of his own medicine, pretty long battle but Phoenix prevails.
Picnicker's next with a Goldeen so I send in Ame. 2 Sleep Powders and 4 Confusions later, Goldeen's down.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Misty: Hi, You're a new face!
Avian: Considering this is my first time in here, yeah.
Misty: Only those Trainers who have a policy about Pokemon can turn pro. What is your approach when you catch and train Pokemon?
Avian: Mono-Flying, may sound simple but Rock's being an ass.
Misty: My policy is an all-out offensive with Water-type Pokemon!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Staryu and BigBird are up first. Staryu Hardens but BigBird's Gust takes it down to half health. Water Pulse makes BigBird confused, but still manages to bring Staryu to the red zone.
Ready the Quick Attack... and Misty uses a Super Potion, FFFFFFFFFF-. BigBird snaps out of confusion and takes Staryu down with a crit Gust!
Starmie's next and hits BigBird with a powerful Water Pulse, bringing him down to yellow. Gust does puny damage and BigBird faints.
Go! Ame! Water Pulse confuses Ame but Stun Spore paralyses Starmie, that'll slow you down. Ame hurts himself in confusion and Water Pulse kills him :c
Phoenix is in and hits Starmie with 3 paraflinch Astonishes! Unfortunately the 4th one fails to flinch and Starmie hits it with a Water Pulse.
Running out of options, Owen is out and Owen hits Starmie with 2x Fury Attack leaving it with a silver of health. Paralysis fails to work and Owen's down.
Last hope, Flamewing comes in and Starmie's out after a Scratch!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Misty: Wow, you're too much!
Avian: Damn, that was close ._.
Misty: Alright! You can have the Cascade Badge to show you beat me.
Avian: Well, it was worth it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Healed up at the Pokemon Center, and it's time to beat up the Digging Grunt.
Digging Grunt taken down, crossed the Underground Path, beat up a few Trainers...

Welcome to Vermilion City!
Healed up at the Pokemon Center, got an Old Rod and Bike Voucher.
Little girl wants a Spearow for Farfetch'd, since I can't trade Owen away, I'll just catch another one!
Strolling around the tall grass of Route 11, beat a Drowzee and caught a level 13 Spearow. No nickname for you buddy, you're being traded.
Received a level 13 Ch'ding and off to SS Anne!

Pokemon Team upon boarding SS Anne:
Flamewing the Charmeleon
BigBird the Pidgeotto
Ame the Butterfree
Owen the Spearow
Phoenix the Zubat
Ch'ding the Farfetch'd

I used Golbat in one of my playthroughs; it'll try to evolve then stop automatically, saying "?"
